Horrible experience due to rude service. All of this was because I wanted to use the driving range I called the pro shop ahead and they said the driving range closes at 8:30 and I got there to use the driving range at 7:45 an was yelled at by the workers that the driving range closed at 7:30 even though I was told it closes at 8:30. Mean while other people are at the first tee and I wasn't even allowed to use the putting or chipping green. Would not recommend for anybody. read more

POOR COMMUNICATIONS & NOTIFICATIONS...Played golf at Mill Pond GC Middle Island NY today FRIDAY 7/18/2025...COST $85. As soon as we got on the first tee there was a golf outing sign on tee box. One player with us asks the starter what does that mean, he replied there is a golf outing out to day and they are in front of you. What golf course schedules an outing on FRIDAY! NONE of THEM! This is one of the busiest days for golf. To make a long story short it took us 5 HOURS 45 MIN to play 18 holes. We had 3 foursomes waiting on every tee box. This is the worst golf round wait I've had in 40 years of golf! This course is famous for booking a tee time and not making you aware of greens or fairways air rations or any other things that would make you skip a tee time here. SOLUTION: They have a website that they can update every day if they want notify you of an event happening at the course, JUST POST THE EVENT and let us decide if we want to play that day, don't book a tee time, take our money and then we have to find out about these things on the course. BETTER IDEA: put a sign board up in the pro shop where we have to go pay and check in noting ANYTHING that might effect you golf round and when we check in WE CAN DECIDE what we want to do. Believe it or not this occurs a ALL Long Island Public golf courses, every year. My suggestion: NEVER BOOK ONLINE, call the golf club and ask questions before you get a tee time. There are many GREAT public golf courses on Long Island in Suffolk county. Swan Lake, Rock Hill, Pine Hills, Spring Lake, Middle Island GC, Cherry Creek, Cherry Woods just to name a few so don't settle for other than a pleasurable golf to make it more fun! read more

I played here for the first time in a few yrs. With my husband. We had a 12:09 tee time. Not only did we wait for the group(s) ahead of us to get to the tee box. Everyone was all over with no staff or ranger getting people off the tee boxes timely. I'm sorry, but this course, if riddled with slow "demographic," when I say painfully slow. I MEAN PAINFULLY slow. They play as if they are in the PGA, taking 20 minutes at a time in each hole. 3 hrs. Into getting to the 7th hole. We stopped. Could no longer take this pace. No one cared to do anything about. Waste of time & money. STAY AWAY FROM THIS course. Can't we even play normal etiquette golf on the island anymore? It's gone to the swamps. My dad trains here every other weekend by playing a round or hitting some balls, He is like tiger woods and sometimes I join I always hit the ball in lnto the tree but good thing I love climbing trees because I get it out right away, Some people call me a monkey but I'm ok with it. Fantastic course. Course is very well kept. Loved the driving range and the nature all around. All 18 holes were a lot of fun, some tougher than others, wouldn't say it's the most ideal for beginners, but it's certainly a great experience for most Golf lovers. Collar shirts is a requirement to play here, a round of Golf will run you $55 4 and $40 for golf clubs... These club rentals are top notch. Most other rentals can run around $45-$50, so this is a decent value. Strongly recommend it, looking forward to my next visit. read more

Beautiful course out east. Everything is very well kept from the parking lot to the pro shop. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Large driving range with plenty of bays. The course is fun to play but challenging. It's a links style course so windy days are no fun here. There's a great chef in the kitchen at the halfway house...I've had everything from burgers, wraps, breakfast from their kitchen. Everything is always really fresh and well prepared. I wish I could give 0 stars, if not negative. Upon arrival, my dad went inside to pay and the other 3 of us went over to the carts. One of the older men working asked what tee time we had, we answered and he said "cutting it a little close huh" with a snarky attitude, we checked in 10 minutes early. Supposedly we have to be "30 minutes early" which was never told to us when making the tee time days ago. The 3 of us sat in the two carts as we waited for my dad when the same man came over to us to ask where my clubs were, I said I wasn't playing, he told me he was going to charge me the full price of me to play and to rent clubs. I am aware there is normally a small fee for people who ride in the cart, and even if there rules differed, the man could've been a lot nicer. I kindly declined as his attitude and voice got louder even more so than the beginning. I went inside to ask for a refund with my dad, because there was no way I was staying at a place with an attitude like that. The guy then proceeds to FOLLOW us inside to yell at us more and when my dad said "we don't need you in here" considering the man works the CARTS not the charging inside, he was like "nah nah i'll stay" with an attitude. A terrible start to the morning to say the least due to the old man working the carts. NEVER WOULD GO AGAIN OR RECOMMEND TO ANYONE ELSE. I can vouch for excellent value after noon for a well-maintained links style course. But for poor pace of play on sat. afternoon with a 5 hr round, it would have been a a 5 star experience, including facilities and personnel. Last few holes were really attractive in late afternoon light and the pace of play got better. So, the finish was nice. PS, Greens are in great condition. read more

The computer portal won't allow singles. I got a later tee time although there were 4 2-4 t=slots available. Paid $62 for cart, resv and green fee. Was told by surly starter that I only bought a seat in cart . I politely answered I paid for a cart and I was getting over being sick but he was adamant. Told me get a refund for cart fee. I could not walk so lady inside was very polite and I was offered complete refund minus resv. fee. $36 to rent solo cart for Town course I won't be back. No discounts for Vets or seniors. I personally prefer "customer" service over course condition, yet appreciating the very few gems with a balance of a little of both. Not only was this course in great shape, but not ONE person in the staff treated you like a "customer". Everyone, from the shop counter apologizing (?) because she was busy... which she clearly was and still kept on top of her game, to the restaurant cook coming out to ensure everything was good with the food. Shit you not... after a short conversation with the bar tender and cook, not only did they give a great recommendation for dinner plans later, THEY called and made the reservation! Still in awe. Mill Pond is a surprisingly good Par 70 Links course. Overall it's relatively short, but pretty challenging for the average player. Only a few water hazards, but sand traps pepper most holes. The real ball eater is the tall grass which is on every hole and will easily gobble up errant shots. I think I lost 4 to the grass this past weekend! Rates are in line with other area courses; $73 for a cart and a round, $53 for residents. Should also mention they've got a nice pro shop and club house for post game beers. read more

Solid golf course that is comparable to other courses nearby. This is a shorter course with almost no trees and fairly open fairways. Trouble only comes in play on very wide shots. The greens are moderately paced and in pretty good condition. Overall I like the layout as you can score on some holes, but a handful do present a challenge. The biggest knock on this place is pace of play. Even on a day where the course isn't crowded there is a major problem with this. I'm surprised because other courses in the area do not have this problem. read more

Worst experience ever, played 18 while maintenance was going on, the guy who was cutting the grass ran over my ball, the sprinklers sprayed us while we were putting on three and the bunkers were horrible. I ruined my sand wedge after hitting a rock the was embedded in the sand. Would not recommend playing this course. I definitely will not be coming back. The rates are too expensive for the bad course that it is. read more

Horrible day at Mill Pond golf course! They never told us about an outing and it took 4 hours to finish the front 9! We never finished our round and it took about 20-25 mins between shots. I would give this course a zero if I could. It started with us showing up and the pro shop telling us the deal on the website wasn't valid. The deal was 42 dollars after 12pm, but the Proshop said that was for after 2pm. Even though clearly on their website it said that was the deal until 4/16/17, which by the way is tomorrow. If you don't know what your website advertises then you're an idiot.The girl was nice and did her best to help, but the old man next to her was a complete jerk and wouldn't even listen. He's an absolute horrible person and could care less about the golfers. If you see him there, old, glasses, white hair, just walk out and play somewhere else. Now on to the golf, which was even more of a joke. We are given a cart that was filthy. There was more sand in our cart then in their bunkers. This made me laugh even more because this course has no less than 200 carts sitting in the parking lot. I overheard the starter say they don't even have a person to clean the carts. The round took about 7 hours and there wasn't a ranger in site. I know it was the weekend, but come on. If you need to pay a little more to play somewhere else do it. What an absolute joke read more

We have attended many parties at mill pond, but last night was horrible. First there was help walking around in tee shirts. The head manager was dressed sloven. The cocktail food was cold. The sliders stunk and the taco shells were stale. Then on top of it a table collapsed at the party. They could have been more professional for a child's party. Why cause it was a Thursday night. I'll start out by saying the course itself is actually pretty nice. Nothing else about the experience was enjoyable. They were running a deal on their site $42 if you tee off after 12pm. The deal ended 4/16/17 (tomorrow). This deal is specifically why we booked here. We got there and they were unaware of said deal. The girl behind the counter, tried to do all she could to assist, but the older gentleman working there insisted that we were wrong and had to pay $56. We then showed her the deal on their site, which he refused to look at and still told us we had to pay $56. Some could say our round was ruined before it began. It only gets worse, this course books its tee times 4 min apart, if you don't want to feel rushed this isn't the place for you. On top of that our carts looked like they haven't been cleaned in weeks, filthy with sand all over them. Meanwhile they have 100+ carts just sitting in the lot. Next our 1208 tee time turned into a 1238 tee time, which was the start of a 6+ hour round. They had no ranger anywhere to be found to maintain a pace of play. All in all it was a pretty awful experience, I can see why such a nice looking course only has 3 stars on yelp. read more

While this is a very nice golf course and the staff is quite friendly, it has become Painful to play here now. The rangers on the course just don't care about the pace of play. My last round, 6/7/14, was Five and Half Hours - yes 5-1/2 Hours! Unacceptable. This is not an aberration, I have played this course several times over the past few years and each year the pace of play just gets worse and the rangers just care less... that's if you ever see one. My recent round at mill pond was enjoyable. It was my first time playing there since the course went from 27 to 18 holes which was quite a long time ago. I made the reservation on golfnow.com. Upon arriving at the course and going to the practice putting green I was disappointed to find that the greens had been aerated. I asked the starter if all the greens had been punched and he told me that they were done last week. I told him that they should post that on golf now so people are not surprised when they get to the course. The course was in good shape aside from not being able to get a good roll on the aerated greens. After the round I enjoyed chicken wings and a burger. They were both very good. read more

Do not even think about buying tickets to an event here. Very shady ticket sales. They advertise tickets don't go on sale until a certain day and then mysteriously all tickets are sold out BEFORE the sale date. Someone is doing some backroom deals to re-sell tickets and pumping up the price. Bad business practices... read more

I had my husband's surprise 40th birthday party at Mill Pond in December of 2013. To make the long story short I was completely dissatisfied. All the particulars I gave to the manager leading up to the advent were all ignored. The day of, everything was set up wrong and no one had a clue of what I wanted. The food was disgusting and cold and the staff attending to us were young, inexperienced, and unprofessional. I booked with Mill Pond because they were less expensive than most places around but what a mistake that was. I can only hope I can help others not make the same mistake I made. With our family having an abundance of weddings and babies the past few years, we have had over a dozen showers. While I have been happy with each, our recent experience with the Mill Pond Country Club was exceptional. While attending a dinner with a small group of friends a month prior, I was immediately impressed with the quality of food. Anticipating that the venue would be out of budget, I casually spoke to the manager at the conclusion of the event. Charlotte- the manager of the Mill Pond- is perhaps one of the most gregarious, warm individuals I have had the pleasure to meet; it instantly felt as if I was speaking to an old friend. She was amazing at offering suggestions and assisted with creating a great event centered and uniquely designed for my daughter-in-law and soon-to-come grandson. Best of all, it was extremely budget friendly despite the abundance of food, drinks and miscellaneous extras. All the guests expressed their love of the food; particularly the array of salads to choose from set across from the hot buffet. Perhaps more impressive were the fine details that Charlotte and the Mill Pond provided; from light blue sheer bows tied around the chairs to mini elephants (the shower theme) set upon the cake. The staff during the event were professional and attentive to all guests in attendance; even the small table of younger girls asking for second platters of chicken fingers and fries. They timed everything well (in terms of serving) so that the event moved along smoothly without seeming rushed or too drawn out. At the conclusion, they assisted with the gathering and transporting the gifts. Likewise, Charlotte periodically "checked in" to ensure that all was well and assist with anything needed. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Mill Pond Country Club to anyone planning a special occasion as I plan on using them for future events. read more
