Mami's Cocina is our choice when it comes to Mexican dinner cravings. The food is always fresh and almost taste like homemade dishes. My personal favorite is the huarache de bistec. It used to be a thicker tortilla but glad they made it thinner. That made me eat more of the Taco de bistec. Even the salsas are always fresh. We are glad to have a local mexican restaurant nearby. Went here for lunch with a friend. The food was decent, but the service and billing practices were disappointing. We asked for two to-go containers, and my friend requested a third because there wasn't enough room for her side dish. At that point, the waitress told us there would be a $3 charge for the containers. We declined to pay for all three and instead offered to pay for one. The waitress and another employee insisted we should pay for all three, which made for an uncomfortable interaction. The biggest issue came when the bill arrived. My entrée was listed at $14 on the menu, but I was charged $18. When I asked to see the menu, I was asked why I wanted it. I pointed out that my meal was clearly listed at $14, but I was told the price could be increased. Charging more than the posted menu price without notifying customers beforehand is unacceptable. Between the unexpected charges and the way our concerns were handled, the overall experience was frustrating. We won't be returning. read more

I'll keep this short and sweet. Basura. Absolutely BASURA !!!!!!!! We order via Uber eats. First time, giving it a try. I can eat damn near anything. The meat had a funky taste. Some of the other tacos and my huaraches was completely disgusting. My dog sniffed it and passed !!!!!!!! I should have obeyed the many negative Yelp orders before I did this to myself. Decided to try Mami's Cocina for the first time tonight through Uber eats and was disappointed. My boyfriend got a burrito which he really enjoyed but I had birria tacos and they are not like any birria tacos that I have had before. Usually the tortilla is dipped in the sauce and fried making it a crunchier style taco but these were so soft and soggy and had no flavor or color of the birria sauce. The meat portion was generous but it was bland. The birria sauce that was on the side was bland as well. Don't think I would order from here again. read more

I've ordered here three times. The al pastor tostadas and tacos here are truly delicious and honestly, the best in the area of Rahway / Linden. Delivery here is always on time and pick up is a breeze. Their al pastor is flavorful, well seasoned, and the charred pineapple accompanies the tender pork excellently. The guacamole is also a great portion with fresh crunchy in -house chips! What's stellar here is their salsa. Get extra! The verde has subtle tang with a burst of soft heat and the rojo has deeper sharpness, built to cut through the thick richness of the pork. FINALLY some authentic Mexican food in Linden and it did not disappoint. I was able to stop in for their soft opening. Grand opening is scheduled for Sunday June 9th. We had their chicken tacos and the chicken flautas and I had no complaints. It was delicious! Definitely looking forward to trying out other items on their menu. The staff was friendly and attentive. There are tables available if you want to sit and eat and the restaurant is bright and spacious. They will be offering delivery as well. We were there in the late evening and it seemed that they had run out of some items and had to close early which tells me they had a fantastic soft opening. Solid, worth checking out. So far, can recommend the burritos, tacos, and tostadas. Bistec, carnitas, and tinga pollo are all good. Carnitas a little dry and not fried, but that is common. Nothing extraordinary, but a solid option for a weekday dinner. read more

Tried this place today for the 1st time with My Husband and some friends after seeing them on Instagram several times. Food was good authentic Mexican food and the service was good as well. I gave them 1 star because what their BIG downfall was that when we got our bill, Everything we ordered had been up charged 2-3 dollars on the price than what was on the menu! I asked the waitress about it who pointed to a piece of paper that was printed by the register that stated that some of their prices have gone up. Again Mind you this was our 1st time there and we were seated at a table when we came in and not one time was it ever mentioned by the waitress to us! 2nd issue was that they charged us $2.00 for 2 containers to bring our food home that didn't have the proper lids to them and had to be covered by paper plates! Also the containers were 2 different sizes, one big and one small,so how do they charge the same price?!! Last but not least they charge you $5 to use your debit card to pay your bill and Again not once ever mentioned by the waitress! Too bad that they are more concerned on overcharging and deceiving their customers for every little thing than keep them coming back! I'm so glad I stumbled upon this place. I steady have a favorite Mexican restaurant and I LOVE their food so much that I literally look at other Mexican restaurants with a side eye because they never compare or even come close. This was my first time here and I will say that if I can't get to my normal spot and I'm in Linden, I'll def eat here again. I had lunch here today with my two girlfriends and everything we had was delicious. I was so hungry I didn't think to take pictures of our food until it was too late. My one girl had a burrito, I don't like burritos so I didn't taste it but she loved it. It was huge and she only ate half. My other friend had chicken tacos and to start they use CORN tortillas... the only tortillas that really matter in life. The chicken was well seasoned and all the adding on the tacos were fresh and perfectly complimented. I had the chicken flautas which are served w/ rice on the side and lettuce, tomato, cream, and avocado on top. They also have a spicy salsa that I drizzled on top. Let me tell you, those flautas were delicious! The staff spoke limited English but they were very nice and so enthused to have us. The place seems new but I will be telling people about it so they can support because I don't want them going anywhere! I will definitely be back. Also the prices are reasonable. Found this new stop driving by. Very small and quiet space. I ordered the carnitas burrito and the sopes. The carnitas burrito lacked a bit of flavor and seasoning but it definitely was filling. Now the sopes, one of my sopes was bistec (steak) and the other two was Chorizo and potatoes. The steak tasty a little over cooked and chewy. But last was the Chorizo and potato sopes which was by far DELICIOUS ! The chorizo and potato sopes will definitely make me come back for more! read more

I'm writing this review and I haven't even left yet. My husband and I have been wanting to try this new place that's just down the block from where we live. We asked the server what he recommended and ended up getting the Carne Asada and Chicken Alambre. Food came out quickly and it was DELICIOUS. We also got a total of three beverages and all of that totaled for a dinner under $35! Can't beat that. Also, my Alambre came with a side of guacamole. Straight up delicious. So... today I ordered tacos and gorditas through DoorDash. I only got the tacos. When I checked my order history I saw that they refunded me the gorditas but they made no attempt to notify me that the gorditas are unavailable. They just left it out, didn't give me any options to replace them. I called them and they seemed genuinely confused as to why I was upset about this. Common courtesy- CALLLL your customer to inform them that you ran out of the item and give them some options to swap it out. The ridiculous lack of care and the fact that I have to eat one of my husband's tacos and supplement with something in my fridge is why I'm giving this 1 star. If you order from here, just be aware that someone might be pretty hangry enough to write a negative review about not getting their food. read more

Giving 4 stars just b/c there is always room for improvement, but this place hasn't disappointed us yet and we eat a lot of different types of food.
