So looking forward to ordering from Brenda Lee's again!…read more My husband and I looked online for a good Mexican restaurant to order from and we stumbled upon this establishment. We ordered a Torta de milanesa de res and the steak tostadas. Boy was it the absolute best tostada I think I ever had in my life. The meat was super flavorful and the green sauce was delicious! My husband absolutely loved his Torta so much that he ordered another. We wish they were much bigger. All in all we highly recommend Brenda Lee's and we can't wait to be able to visit in person.

Orders come in sets of four, so come hungry (or be ready to share if you're feeling nice). The staff were great too -- super accommodating about my no-cilantro request and made sure everything came out exactly right. I'm giving it four stars only because it's more of a quick bite spot than somewhere you hang out, but honestly, the food alone makes it worth the stop

So I ordered one of their tortas with steak, jalapeño, onions and cheese. I was expecting a simple sandwich to hold me until I got home. What I was served was the biggest torta I had ever seen. And it was delicious! Fresh ingredients all around, loved everything especially the bread. The house made green and red hot sauces are amazing. Love the flavor and heat. The jalapeño in the torta kicked as well, I was a happy camper. Few tables to seat and eat, staff very friendly and helpful. Prices are moderate and worth it for the good quality food served. Loved how the place was nicely decorated for FIFA and gave a relaxing atmosphere with the games playing on TV. Can be a cool date spot as well. Looking forward to trying other menu items here.

I ordered tacos al pastor, AND OMG, they come in 5, and they pack these tacos UP!! I mean, they do NOT go cheap on the meat, and they add the average add ons, cilantro, onion, and radish. They also come with 2 sauces, very delicious. The meat was well cooked, juicy, and VERY flavorful. The cooks did a grand job, and for the price too it was great. $14 for 5, and 5 VERY WELL MADE tacos. I cannot recommend this any more than I can, they have indoor seating as well. I will be coming back for more, I will be a regular. Thanks SO MUCH for the great food.

The food was really fresh and well made. We had the Mariachi and soft chicken tacos. Guac and chips were spot on. I ordered the steak taco, the birria taco, and a strawberry margarita. Both tacos were so flavorful, especially the birria. Honestly, it was one of the most flavorful Mexican tacos I've ever had. I would definitely recommend checking this place out if you're looking for good Mexican food. I'll definitely be back!

Tacos Al Pastor 7.3/10 - I can't quite put my finger on it, but I feel as though these tacos could have given me more. YES, the meat was flavorful and juicy, YES you can taste the pineapple, YES all the flavors came together harmoniously. But for some reason I kept thinking I was eating chicken, maybe it had to do with the way the meat was chopped up finely. Texture played a big role in determining how much I reallyyy liked these tacos. They were good and I would perhaps get them again, but i've definitely had better. Quesabirria 8.7/10 - When I opened the box them cheeses were staring at me and I knew I was gonna stretch that shit out. i was blown away buy how good the cheese melted into the savory meat dripping everywhere (yes everywhere). They did not hold back on the cheese, and i'm very grateful for that! The tortilla was solid but I wish they were just a tad bit more crunchy. I devoured them bitches tho so it's all good. Consome 8/10 - Textbook definition of consome right here, it elevated the birria tacos and brought out that meaty taste. On its own it gave a nice warm hearty feeling in my tummy. It was cozy and no further to be honest. Green sauce 6.9/10 - I know green sauces aren't typically the spiciest sauce you can get, but i detected zero spice levels! The taste was rather refreshing, and had a nice hint of lime to it. You don't notice the flavors as much when you put them on the tacos, which made me a tiny bit sad Red sauce 7.8/10 - I was worried this sauce would be on the bbq side of the flavor spectrum, but I was surprised but it's smoky richness and decent level of spice. don't go too heavy with this one because then you will see the levels of hotness that come with this sauce. I actually taste this one with my tacos and didn't overpower the meat flavors. I wish more red sauces were as complex as this one. Cilantro 10/10 - very fresh, generous, and green Overall experience 7.75/10 - Although I expected more from the Al Pastor tacos, the birria tacos made up for it and consome and red sauce really sealed the deal. next time i'm shit face drunk in newark and it's not too late I'll come back with a smile.

No matter who you are or where you're from, there's a strong chance that you're familiar with the…read moremeaning of "Taco Tuesday," which exists across the US, from Los Angeles to small-town Tennessee, from food trucks in the barrios to high-end restaurants in hipster haunts. For some of us, it might simply call for going out and getting tacos or even just preparing our own. Situated in the middle of a residential neighborhood in Roselle Park, this establishment is set inside a small corner suburban home where some of my colleagues decided on takeout, which came highly recommended. Upon arrival at Taqueria La Casita, or "The Little House Taqueria," we were confronted outside by the neon signage reading "Tacos Open" and Mexican flags, among other pieces of colorful decor. Greeted by the staff inside an un-air-conditioned cozy dining room decked out in its Mexican splendor with 4 tables. In the back, a colorful menu with nearly a dozen different types of tacos and an array of other dishes written by hand. We opted for individual orders containing 4 tacos with Shrimp, Chicken, Steak, and Pork. While waiting, we couldn't help but notice the trompo--the spinning, shawarma-adjacent log of marinated pork used for Al Pastor, which translates to "in the style of the shepherd." Originating in Puebla, this came at the hands of Lebanese immigrants during the 1930s. The tortilla itself was freshly made, of the corn variety. They were stuffed to the brim with meat prepared in front of us and served with cucumbers and lime. Fresh condiments of diced onion, cilantro, and avocado were separated in their own container, and all were needed. Various sauces accompanied in small containers, such as green, which was jalapeño-based; the darker red salsa was smoky from dried and smoked chipotle chilis; and neon orange, which was a sauce made from chili de arbol and tomato. The guacamole was absolutely delicious along with the chips, and we couldn't get enough. The portion was a healthy size. The service was fast; Maribel was friendly and accommodating. Authentic, fresh, and affordable--we can recommend this place.

We asked for two to-go containers, and my friend requested a third because there wasn't enough room for her side dish. At that point, the waitress told us there would be a $3 charge for the containers. We declined to pay for all three and instead offered to pay for one. The waitress and another employee insisted we should pay for all three, which made for an uncomfortable interaction. The biggest issue came when the bill arrived. My entrée was listed at $14 on the menu, but I was charged $18. When I asked to see the menu, I was asked why I wanted it. I pointed out that my meal was clearly listed at $14, but I was told the price could be increased. Charging more than the posted menu price without notifying customers beforehand is unacceptable. Between the unexpected charges and the way our concerns were handled, the overall experience was frustrating. We won't be returning.
