    Mambo Rice Bundle Lg
    Amy K.

Plenty of seating, and food comes out quick. Our waitress was able to get our order and all the food came out accordingly. The place is not a fancy restaurant by any means. A little messy and a strong smell of seafood inside but it is a seafood restaurant. The fried rice is the best! along with the shrimp empanadas, sooo good. Large rice bundle could feed 7 people!

Wouldn't get the mambo sauce for this dish again but the octopus was surprisingly tender. Grilled snapper was cooked well.

3.5 but rounded up to 4 because service was great. Our waitress was very attentive and super friendly. I had mixed seafood of calamari, octopus, shrimp with fried rice and fries. The calamari and octopus is surprisingly tender. The only issue was that the mambo sauce was incredibly salty. Sooo salty and I love salt. I probably should have let them know but we were hungry. The rice was good. The fries were coated and crispy. My husband had the grilled red snapper whole and it was grilled very well. Wasn't over cooked. He got the z sauce on the outside which gives it a nice flair. There was a bit of a wait for the food which is a little longer than I would say is normal but I appreciate the hot and fresh food. Multiple different people stopped by our table to see if we needed anything so that was nice.

I went here because my coworkers were ALWAYS saying that the food was so good! Soo I went! I went around 1p and the place was as beyond packed.. ‍ My server, was very polite and upbeat. The place didn't feel clean... but hey, I had to see it through.. The portions of the food are really huge! I had the regular rice and when I saw it I took 2-3 scoops and just asked for a to go box lol cause I just knew I wasn't going to finish it My ceviche was good! And very very spicy!

So, the family wanted to see what the rave was about... We came, We Saw, We Ordered, We ate, We conquered... We all walked away saying "it was alright" my boys ordered fried shrimp and fries and so did my husband and I. The menu was colorful and all over the place. No lie, I was a bit overwhelmed trying to read and understand what to order for us all. Lol. My boys knew what they wanted and I went song with them. We started with salmon bites which were good, not fried as hard as expected, but was decent. Our waitress was as accommodating as she could be and that helped. Overall, we tried it, and it's not our top choice.

Rice is great and fish tacos were good. Place is busy and sat near front door. It was breezy when door open. I'll come back again when I visit Houston.

So here's the thing, let's compare this place to a somewhat generic Latin seafood takeout spot. Not extremely expensive, not the greatest yet satisfying at least. Don't expect first class treatment unless you speak Spanish to be honest. The rice is decent, skip the grilled overcooked shrimp and stick to the fried stuff. The beer drinks are good and the best part is that they are always served "cold cold". Nothing destroys a Michelada like a lukewarm beer in my opinion. Music is loud and ambiance is loud so get ready to use your vocal cords if you sit inside. Avoid busy times like Friday after 6, reality is payday Friday gets crazy hectic and the wait for food is long. Tables outside are naturally sticky... no matter how much you clean them but as strange as this sounds, it's almost part of the mambo experience lol.

I visited this location on Friday night around 10pm and the service was terrible. The hostess was nice and seated us upon arrival, we looked at the menu and decided what to order but our server never came. After waiting 20 minutes the hostess happened to be walking by and we had to ask him where our server was, there was a lot of servers attending to the other tables and some servers where sweeping and cleaning around us which one happened to hear us talking to the hostess and took our order. The server assigned to our table brought out our food and drinks but never checked back out on us. Halfway through our meal I wanted some water because the horchata was way too sweet but the server never came so we had to get up and order our own water at the bar. The server finally came when it was time to close our tab and had the audacity to ask if we wanted to added a tip which I said no. The quality of service at this location has gone downhill.

This is a solid seafood place. Lots of fried seafood options and Latin flavors/recipes. For example you can get tilapia chicharrons, seafood tacos, seafood tostadas, etc. Seafood tasted fresh and restaurant was clean and smelled clean. The patio was a nice place to eat. Friendly service and food came out quickly. Would recommend if you like friend seafood and that Latin style cuisine.

Mambo signature rice is the best. You cannot go wrong. Other items on the menu that are worth trying are the empanadas (from app menu) seafood soup. I usually sit outside to enjoy the view ..... of busy traffic ( )

Went to this location for the first time this past Wednesday night. Our waitress Yara was outstanding and the food was to die for. We felt safe and cared about. Usually go to the location off Hillcroft and Bellaire - but WOW. "this location is outstanding. Food was just to die for. Was fresh, flavorful and amazing. Margaritas and Mangonadas were delicious and we had a great time. Thank you for an amazing evening!!

    Alejandro S.

Wow! This place is amazing!! The prices are awesome and the food is incredible! Specifically their mambo rice is scrumptious on a whole new level. Also the other favorite of mine is the empanadas costeñas. So good! That's probably gonna be my staple meal here from now on. I absolutely love this place! All the food is delicious & the atmosphere is clean & amazing! Our waitress, Yara was the best, such amazing personality and service! I can't wait to return.

Pretty good place for cheap food that comes in a large amount! If you have insomnia, just go here and order yourself a large order of fried rice. You'll be knocked out for hours due to the food coma. Also if you don't want to meal prep, you can always get the large and you'll have food for days! Other than that, it's a pretty mucky place. The floors and tables are sticky. But hey, what do you expect! It's cheap AND IT'S GOOD!

Just a heads up, this place is counter service, so you order at the front and then grab a table. The crawfish garlic butter sauce actually has really good flavor, but the crawfish themselves weren't very juicy. It tasted like most of the flavor stayed on the outside rather than soaking into the crawfish. If they let the crawfish sit in the sauce longer, I think it would make a big difference. The fried catfish was solid, and the whole wings were good. Regular wings were just okay. Prices are pretty reasonable though around $10/lb normally, and they are running a special of 5 lbs for $45. Overall, a decent spot with potential. If the crawfish were juicier, I'd definitely come back because the sauce itself is actually pretty good!

The chicken wings are ginormous, the batter is light and crispy and the garlic butter sauce pairs so well with chicken. The waiter asked how we wanted the cook on the beef, and the beef was a perfect medium rare. The meat was so tender and flavorful with an excellent char and the sauce was so flavorful. The food can be a bit pricey ($35 for bo luc lac, for example) but flavors are great overall and the service is also really good! It's not super high end in terms of decor but certainly well above average and pretty nice compared to the standard Vietnamese restaurant. (For example, yes to white table cloths, but they are layers of plastic.) My quick rapid fire recommendations: 1. Chicken wings - they are absolutely ginormous, amazing flavor, and totally worth the price though they seem expensive on the surface. 2. Fried calamari salt and pepper - delicious! I can't quite describe it ... a hint of funnel cake batter flavor? There's something quite special about this one and it's quite tasty. 3. Shaking beef (bo luc lac) - amazing! Ask for the beef to be medium rare as opposed to medium. Dip those beef chunks into the lime dipping sauce and oh my... you're in heaven. The service is also top notch and not your standard Asian restaurant level. Located off West Little York, close to 290 - it's a hidden gem in Northwest Houston not too far from the city. The space is bigger than you would expect so it's also great for large parties if you can reserve the space. Enjoy!
