Basically every screen in the place was must-watch TV and the bartender -- understandably distracted, perhaps -- decided that was the ideal moment to restock straws and cut fruit. We waited. In the heat. Our server was genuinely good when he materialized, which wasn't as often as we'd have liked. Food: the cheese curds earned their reputation. The Mekts burger was fine -- solid, no complaints. The Reuben rolls, however, arrived looking exactly like what they were: a Sysco product plated with minimal ceremony. Hard pass next time. As for the name -- if you're picturing a dock, pilings, maybe a gull or two -- walk outside and squint hard past the road and the rooftops. Big lake's out there somewhere. Technically. The bar area is adorable. Our bartender was so chatty and created perfect old fashions. The two dining rooms are equally adorable. The staff was fantastic and made us feel so welcome. The ladies at the hostess desk, the bartender and our server all offered warm hospitality. From appetizers to dessert, we loved everything. They offer classic supper club options as well as traditional German fare. House of Gerhard is not to be missed.

There are no steps to navigate to enter restaurant itself (as well as the dining area), but there are two steps to climb to reach the small bar area. A railing would be helpful here. Dining is also a delight. A nice menu offers a variety of entrees and appetizers, German and American fare. Seafood is also very well prepared. Friendly waitstaff work hard and are very efficient. Water is refilled constantly. We had a schnitzel, scallops, house salad, and one awesome spinach salad topped by a perfect Strawberry Schaum Torte dessert on a recent busy Saturday. I'm not going to lie they are a good size, and they have about 9 flavors. One of the best around. This place is small, but there's an upstairs hang out area. There are dart boards upstairs 4 and downstairs 2. This place is known for darts and leagues. So don't be shy if you're looking to play. When leagues are playing, they are up and downstairs. There are no pool tables at this establishment. They have a small deck upstairs as well. The bartender Nicole,I had today saw me walking in and immediately said hi from a distance, through the crowd I might add. I get to the counter, and she immediately took my drink order. Not even 4 minutes, she was back to take my food order. This is the second time I had her as the bartender. She reacted the same on my first visit. A Plus!!! Let's talk more about the establishment. Surprisingly, a good number of spirits, too I honestly give this place a 4.8 because I was able to chat with all kinds of people with no issues. Ages are mixed, so that's a plus. The atmosphere was pretty great if you asked me. People were friendlier than other bars I've been to in Kenosha. You should have a great time with this local bar.
