If you're craving a thin slice pizza then look no further. Mama's boy gives you the oakland love with food worth Your trip. Service is phenomenal and the interior is well decorated. The slice size is huge and they'll do half off before closing as to not make a waste.

I have to admit. I have a new found love ! It's Mama's Boy pizza!!! Absolutely the best Neopolitan pizza in the entire Bay Area!! Vanessa is so lovely and welcoming! Shes the best server in the East bay. Her warmth and passion for Mama's Boy is above the rest. Her attention to detail goes above and beyond anyone I've ever met. They chill mellow vibes will make you feel as if you're at home. You must try Mama's Boy to experience it for yourself. Santos, Vanessa and the rest of the crew await you! Bon Appetite!

Great pizza, the flop is perfect and they have amazing crust as well. I really enjoyed the burrata pizza with hot honey! Service is super good, everyone is polite and quick! It's right on grand Ave so a good place to grab a slice and enjoy a show or walk around the city!

The best pizza in the Bay area by far!!!! Pretty fast service, it does get busy quickly and there isn't a lot of seating, but there is some upstairs if you have a larger group that can work. The ambiance is cozy and warm, I really like the overall set up here. The pizza though, the pizza is the star of the show! All the pizzasa were so flavorful, but the standouts were the Burrata pizza (it has hot honey!), the Pesto pizza, and the Mushroom pizza was decent too. However, the Cacio e Pepe pizza was pretty disappointing, luckily that was the only one we got just slices of. We also really wanted to try their Pineapple pizza, but I guess we'll save that for our next visit. Oh, and the ranch is great here too! Food: 5/5 Service: 4.5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Value: 4.5/5 Overall: 4.5/5

Mama's Boy Pizza is my go to neighborhood pizza spot. The White Pie is my favorite, but the sausage pie is also really good. It's a great spot to hang out over pizza and a beer. The pizza is simple and consistently good. They never disappoint and are a regular on my Bay Area Pizza Passport.

If you are serious about pizza.... I mean seriously serious! Got Dang!! This is the spot! Can't get enough of this place. Real east coast style and not just thin crust. I taste the freshness, you can taste the details, you can taste the love

visted mama's boy pizza on a sunday evening. was able to find street parking fairly easily. the slices were bigger in person so we only got 2 normal slices and 1 grandma pie slice for 2 people to share. we tried the white, burrata, and margarita. service was quick and friendly. we were able to snag a booth and helped ourselves to water. food came out fairly quick and was delicious! i love new york style pizza and this did not disappoint. i felt the price was fair for the size and quality of ingredients. all pizzas were very flavorful and the slices were perfectly cooked and not floppy. the grandma pie was like a deep dish but without the heaviness and grease that is normally associated with deep dish style pizzas. very casual no frills interior with more seating upstairs. would definitely come again!!

I drove an hour and a half to try Mama's Boy after seeing it on Barstool Pizza Review, and it was 100% worth the drive. I'd honestly drive five hours for this pizza! Mama's Boy has some of the best pizza I've ever had in my life. The cheese and mushroom pizza was incredible, and the pepperoni was just as good. The garlic knots were top-notch too. The pizza had absolutely no flop, the crust was cooked perfectly, and the undercarriage was exactly how a great pizza should be. Crispy, flavorful, and just perfect all around. I really don't think you could ask for a better pizza. I'm shocked to see any one-star reviews because my experience was completely different. If you know good pizza, you need to give Mama's Boy a try. Parking can be a little challenging, but we found a spot and it was well worth it. Don't let the Oakland location discourage you either--the area around the restaurant was fine during our visit. If you're anywhere near the area, this is a MUST-TRY. I will absolutely be making the drive back again. Highly recommended!

Haven't explored East Bay's food scene yet, but I happened to be in Oakland and stumbled across Mama's Boy Pizza. It's a classic neighborhood slice shop that immediately reminded me of places back on the East Coast where I grew up. You order up front and the cashier was super friendly and recommended the Burrata slice. The pizza was fantastic. I went ahead and ordered the burrata slice (no surprise if you've been reading my reviews), topped with burrata, hot honey, and fresh basil. My partner got the burrata and the cacio e Pepe grandma slice. It was easily one of my favorite slices I've had in the Bay Area so far. I'd honestly make the drive just to grab pizza here again. There are a handful of seats inside and outside, plus additional seating upstairs. If you're looking for a great slice in the East Bay or even the Bay Area, this place is absolutely worth checking out. I will be back for sure!

Finally got to try this Cali version of NY Pizza. I prefer these thin and crisp styles of pizzas over any other style...over deep dish, Detroit, suburban medium crust and even Neapolitan. Straight preference. Upon walking in this hole in the wall urban space I knew it was going to be decent to special. First no frills look, nothing fancy or hip, just a utilitarian vibe, where even though we don't have a subway system, it feels like one could have gotten off a train and straight into this store once you hit street level. The smell of NY style pizza also is thick in the air, the smell of baked yeast mingling with a melding of tomato sauce and sparse cheese. And this was all before I even received and/or tasted a slice. Pizzas by slice can be had, they have about 6 you can choose from. They par bake whole pies and just reheat the slices, which is super legit. That reheating makes a slice more crisp, which I tend to swoon for. And if you get it in slice form, it will get handed to you within 5 minutes. You can get whole pies here and I'm sure those are better called in as you can use your travel time as the wait time. Cheese Slice ($5/4.5*) Perfectly thin and crisp. And the sauce and cheese is so sparse and in balance that it won't weigh that thin crust down at all. The cheese is so sparse that there will be no cheese pull, which I think Californians don't understand/prefer. Cept I love it cuz it isn't as rich and oily. I do kinda wish the sauce had more umph but after a sprinkle of oregano and red pepper flakes, it turns out just fine. I also think the outer edge of the crust is a bit too big and tough, like you really have to chew that mofo. But I like to roll my slices so that crust is intergrated with the rest so it balances everything out nicely. And I ate this in one hand as I roamed the streets of Uptown. The crisp bites, the tomato and light cheese tandem all mingled with urban city air and just made perfect sense. Pepperoni ($5.50/4*) They use good quality pepperoni, small but thick slices. Definitely makes it greasier which may make this a one and done for me. Wish I could have added mushrooms to this to balance it out more, cuz as is, is just too salty and one note for me. But to a basic bish pepperoni eater, this should fit the bill just fine. But I'll round up to a fiver cuz we simply don't have many of these out here, so to offer this within my reach is quite the lucky circumstance. Gotta give them props on making my bar hopping for this area much more complete and complimentary. Hells ya!

My husband found this spot on inKind, so we decided to stop by for dinner on a Tuesday around 6pm. I was pleasantly surprised that there wasnt a line. We decided to order a whole pizza - half burrata and half sausage. We enjoyed both, especially the hot honey on the burrata. Loved the thin crust because it was crispy and paired so well with the ingredients. Glad that there's NY style pizza in Oakland but on the pricier side given that this whole pizza came out to $50. They do sell them by the slice, so I'll most likely order that next time.

Overall good New York style pizza! Lots of space to eat - downstairs, front patio, and second floor. Nothing thay wowed me but still a decent spot to get NY style pizza.

When people say Mama's Boy is the best pizza in the Bay, they are not lying. They have a decent selection of pizzas available, either by the slice or whole. I HIGHLY recommend the burrata and hot honey pizza! I also love the white pizza with their ranch and Mama's Boy Magic. It is mostly thin crust, crispy pizza, but they have some other options. I've tried the thick crust focaccia pizza and wasn't as impressed as with the thin slice. As for the location, it is street parking, but I have never struggled to find parking. The shop itself is a little small, with a couple tables outside and some inside. The service is quick and the pizza is always hot!

The crust is incredibly light and crispy, with an artisan style that I don't see in the Bay Area. You order at the counter, either for takeout or to eat there. Watching the open kitchen is part of the fun. You can see the whole process, and it runs like a well-oiled assembly line. They were surprisingly busy for a Monday night, but pizzas came out fast and piping hot. The atmosphere is lively and fun. There's a fridge stocked with bottles of beer, wine, and soda, plus red and white wine by the glass (and genuinely good!). There's a small parking lot, but it fills up, so you may need to park on the street. There's plenty of street parking around, although the area can feel a little iffy depending on where you end up.

At least I got to go a couple times before they closed and was able to try all the unique flavors that I wanted to try. The first time I went was with my family. We got a whole Ube pizza. The taste was good, and love the uniqueness of it. Even the dough is purple! There weren't that many people there when we went, so the service was quick. My second visit was closing weekend with a group of friends. I got to try two more flavors recommended by the server during my first visit - blackberry and longanisa. Both were very good in different ways. I think I preferred the blackberry slightly over longanisa. They had a lot of take out orders that day, and we got the last white dough (there were still Ube). Good thing we got what we got. Even though they were super busy, the service was still quick and pizza came out fast. I heard they opened up again in San Francisco but for take out only. So glad they reopened because after having the amazing pizzas right before they closed on Oakland, my friends and I were sad that we didn't go sooner. Can't wait to try again in the future.

Soppresata - an OG item on the menu and one of my favorites. Simple classic pizza with soppresata topped with scallions and honey. Savory, sweet. The honey is perfect on this pizza. Longanisa - Filipino inspired with longanisa, baked egg, and tomato. Savory and sweet. Heaviest of the three pizzas. Comes with a side of sweet vinegar to drizzle on top. All three of these pizzas easily are favorites for me. They're super large and best to share with 2-3 people. I don't know why the pies cost so much, but they are only a few blocks from our place, so I want to support the few restaurants that set up shop in West Oakland. However, I'm starting to sour on this place. I don't mind overpaying for pizza; that's just edible, but on a few occasions, I've been appalled by what these folks try to get away with. A couple of months ago, they gave us a pie that was so burnt I had to call to complain, and they replaced it with a less burnt pie. Perhaps they don't know that extremely burnt food is full of carcinogens. This week, we ordered our usual 18-inch pie. This pie was a Frankenstein pie; half of it tasted like it had been sitting under the lamp all day. A telltale sign is how stiff the cheese is; the old dough feels as if I'm chewing on rubber, and the slices are stiff and salty overall, though some slices taste a bit fresher and crunchier. I was disappointed. If you're going to overcharge for mediocre pizza, the least you could do is give people what they are paying for. If I wanted old, stale pizza, I would've asked for the slices that sit under the lamp all day. Moving forward, if we order from this place, I will walk over, place the order, and wait for it, so we don't get cheated again. This place is a reminder of why certain restaurants often fail. The food is overpriced, and they are inconsistent with their service, if not disrespectful, in how they sometimes treat and feed their customers. We're not pigs; we just like eating the sweet little pig.

We also ordered a side of their blue cheese and basil ranch. I didn't know ranch could get any better than plain ranch. Basil ranch was bright and also creamy.
