Their fried pies are wonderful and made to order! Always fresh! We love both the apple and the peach fried pies.

It seemed like Mexico's version of a "China Town" or "Little Italy" in Hoover. I have not seen anything like this around here. My friend Tina and I tried Mexican sweets here, and I also had a snack of the Crazy Doritos. This place is very whimsical and cute. Perfect for kiddos and families. There is a ton of space too. They have ice creams galore here. It was hard for me to choose! I went for the prettiest one I saw and that turned out to be the Birthday Cake flavor. It was delicious! Tina had the mangonada that looked very good. I was wanting a salty snack too, so when I saw the Dori-Lokos or "Crazy Doritos" I knew I wanted to try it. The lady working there asked me twice if pork skins was okay for her to top onto them. I said sure. Little did I know what I was about to experience! They were actual pork skins that were like a cartilage or jello like texture. I assumed they would be like the crispy bagged variety you see in stores. It was an experience for sure! I liked it, but I probably would not order it again. The Crazy Doritos were also topped with a sort of nut that I liked, cucumber, and hot sauce. I just can't believe I was not in Mexico when I came here. I'm really glad we have places like this that can make some people feel like home and allow other to just have a different experience. It sure was memorable!

Without a doubt, Cookie Fix makes the best cookies in Alabama! What once started as a singular shop…read morein Homewood has now expanded to multiple locations. They have monthly and daily specials as well as fun seasonal flavors! They always offer their classics but I definitely appreciate a rotating, diverse variety of flavors. The cookies themselves are dense, thick, and gooey on the inside- always baked to perfection! Cookies are handmade and always fresh. I think the prices are very reasonable, as the cookies are high-quality. I've tried so many different cookies but today I had the pleasure of trying the "Peanut Butter Bb Over the Top", which is easily one of the best cookies I've ever had. Also, they often have boxes of day-old dozens (no telling what's inside until you take it home though) but in no way can you tell they're a day old.

That list mentioned their location in Homewood, but I was able to swing by the Brock's Gap Hoover outpost. Unfortunately the selections were on the scant side; they had run out of some options. I wanted a cookie with dark chocolate but ended up purchasing the semi-sweet chocolate chip ($3.02 with tax). To be fair, it was about an hour to closing time. But later I went on Cookie Fix's website and reviewed the calendar, and Sundays have the fewest number of cookie options (9 versus 13 on Wednesday for example. At any rate, the cookie was very pleasing, with a unique ice cream scoop shape, a reasonable amount of chocolate, a soft middle, and noticeable sea salt. I approve! The young woman helping me was very polite and helpful; she might've been a high school student. I spotted a fridge stocked with cookie dough if you want to bake at home. And there's no seating inside but a couple of benches and tables with chairs right outside. Since this Cookie Fix is located in a shopping center, parking was unproblematic. There are also numerous restaurants and shops around for before or after getting your Cookie Fix!
