Phoned in an order for the 9.95 pad Thai glass noodle and basil chicken specials. Was told 20 minutes. Upon arriving at the restaurant, it took an additional 10 minutes. No biggie, I understand that things get busy. Both dishes tasted far too sweet for me. Personal preference, I suppose. Biggest issue was the amount of rice given with the basil chicken. It barely amounted to two tablespoons. How is one expected to eat what is assumed to be a flavorful dish with such a paltry amount of rice, 9.95 or not? Placed an online to-go order for 2 entrees on a Saturday night. We got an order of pad see ew ($16.95) and drunken noodle ($16.95). Paying and ordering online was easy. Their spice level scale is 0-5. Since the estimated time for the order to be ready was 20 minutes, I got there in 25 minutes just in case they were running behind. Parking is easy since they have a shared lot in a strip mall. Inside, it feels like a small and cozy family-owned restaurant. I noticed it was a little warm inside (considering it's 100+ degree summer weather right now), and they had 2 AC units stacked on top of tables by the front entrance to try to cool down the rest of the restaurant. They had plenty of ceiling fans, but none were on. At the register, I was told that my order wasn't ready yet and they needed a few more minutes. Not a problem (initially)... but I ended up waiting in person for 20 more minutes before my pick up order of 2 noodle entrees were ready. In other words, the total time for the food to be ready after placing the online order was 45 minutes. I understand that sometimes things slow down for one reason or another, but I would have appreciated transparency instead of being told "just a few more minutes." While I was waiting, a party actually came in, was seated, ordered food, and got their food delivered to their table before I even got my order. This is actually what irked me the most. As for the food itself, I thought it was flavorful albeit a little pricey for the portion size. Also, the 3/5 spice level for my drunken noodle was more like a 1/5. If you're looking for pretty good Thai food and friendly service this place is a solid spot to try out. I usually order delivery but decided to have lunch at the restaurant to have the full overall experience. We were immediately greeted by the server and she sat us right away. There were a few patrons before us but she made sure to instantly take our drink orders before leaving our table. I knew I was going to order their Chicken Pad Thai which is my favorite and my husband wanted to try something different from his usual, so he ordered the Yellow Curry Chicken. Our server was the only one working up front and even though it was pretty hectic she managed to handle it all with ease. Our food did take quite sometime to arrive, but when it did come it was piping hot and smelled absolutely heavenly. The Pad Thai noodles were cooked to perfection, the sauce had the right amount of umami flavors, and the fresh veggies and peanuts mingled everything together beautifully. As for the curry, it was just okay but it didn't have those rich aromatic flavors we're accustomed to. Watch out for the spice level or you might make a big MSTK. Mama Surang's Thai Kitchen seems like a small neighborhood restaurant, but it caught my mom's eye on a Facebook ad or some such. We decided to check out their lunch specials ($13.95), which are available Mon-Fri 11am-3pm, excluding holidays. The Pad Thai has luscious noodles and comes richly sauced, and it's just as delicious as any version I've had. There was a sufficient amount of chicken for the whole dish. The salad comes with a light vinaigrette and the egg roll with a sweet sauce. The spicy level 3 of 5 is potent and hit me hard from the very first bite. The Red Curry is also strong, and I quickly found the 2 of 5 also problematic. This version seems a tad lighter on coconut milk than usual, but I definitely appreciated getting more of the curry flavors than the coconut. There was a lot of tender pork and the veggies were also plentiful. I ended up doing a replacement entree, Thai Basil with pork. The sauce is great but they seem to have cooked the veggies separately, not allowing the sauce to marry into them. But you can still find enough savory, assertive liquid in the bowl to carry enough flavor to work with the white rice. The portions of the lunch special are all described on the receipt as a half portion, and that does kinda feel accurate. But the small Thai Tea is just $1 extra and I think the server felt sorry for my suffering enough that we got not only two of those comped, but an extra full Thai Tea portion to-go (normally $3.00). It's a creamy, moderately sweet beverage that definitely helped me cool down. Mama Surang's is a good local Thai spot that seems to know what they're doing. Assuming I decide to make the trek out here from Henderson again, I would try the regular-size entrees for better value next time. read more

I absolutely love Thai food. In doing my research prior to arriving here I knew that this was a small, family owned business, places that I love to support. I made reservations for an early dinner. I felt bad because there was only one waitress and she was also being a hostess as well so she was definitely running around even though there weren't a lot of people there. By the time we ordered to the time we got our food, it did take over 30 minutes. And we asked for number 1 in spice level because my dad doesn't like super spicy food. My husband and I stopped by on 05/22 to have dinner. I had seen a video online the day before and when I saw the food I knew we had to stop in! I knew if I ordered one more I would've ordered them until closing time haha The service was great and the woman was extremely sweet when taking our order. The restaurant is very small and quiet, which we enjoyed because it felt like being in someone's home for dinner. I ordered the crab curry noodles (Khao Soi) and my husband ordered beef brisket panang curry. We couldn't agree on who had the better dish because they were both so incredible. Mine was spicy, creamy, and perfectly balanced. Large amount of crab was included on top of how large the dish was fo begin with. Enough for me to take home and enjoy the next day. Saw a video on instagram about this place so my partner and I decided to try it. Went like 2 hours before closing. Place is like a little hole in the wall but was very clean and organized. The employee was sweet, gave us appropriate amount of time to look at the menu and took our order. Food came out at a good time as we were the only ones there. Appetizers were really good, cucumber salad was my favorite. The dressing was vinegar based which I like. We got the potstickers since they are made with chicken. I recently saw a post on social media recommending this spot, so I decided to give it a try. Although it's on the opposite side of town from where I live, it was definitely worth the drive! This restaurant is located in a strip mall with ample parking right off of Ft. Apache. We were greeted and seated upon entering by our friendly server. We reviewed the menu and placed an order for the chicken potstickers while we pondered our entree choices. The potstickers were up within 5 minutes, they were piping hot and had a really flavorful filling. The yummy soy based dipping sauce was perfect as an impromptu "dressing" for the lettuce and carrots that accompanied the potstickers. For our entrees, my fiance and I both went with our tried and true dishes- Pad See Ew with chicken for him and Pad Prik King with chicken for me. I usually order mine with shrimp, but chicken appealed to me tonight. When we ordered, our server asked how spicy on a scale of 1-5 and I clarified how spicy their 5 was, she said it's "American spicy" so we went with 5's. The dishes looked delicious and thankfully they delivered on flavor. At first I was missing the kefir lime flavor that is synonymous with Pad Prik King, but as I swiped my veggies and chicken through the sauce further on the bottom I started to get that complex flavor. I really appreciate that they included bamboo shoots and zucchini in addition to the traditional green beans and peppers that usually come with this dish. My fiance really enjoyed his pad see ew and said it was definitely one of the better versions he's had in Vegas. Spice wise, I agree that the 5 was "American spice", which I was fine with as it ensured it didn't overpower the flavors of the dish. My God, it's absolutely delicious, authentic, and abundant. When I mean abundant they give so much food. Plenty for sharing. The pad see ew was so flavorful. I got level 1 spice. My 1 year old was able to handle it. But flash forward to today (07/01/25) we just ordered takeout and the level 1 spice was a like a level 2 spice. My toddler could not handle it. So I think we will skip on spice next time. The crab fried rice was soooo good in the restaurant and even for takeout. There is so much rice and actual crab in the rice. It's worth every penny. Of course we came to try out the wagyu and crab khao soi. Came on a weekday, it wasn't busy. We were greeted with a warm welcome and got a table as soon as we walked in. The place is decorated with traditional elements like wood carvings. Our food came out fairly quick. It's a table side show when you order the khao soi. They cook it to your liking using a butane torch. We ordered it medium rare and they torch it, adding extra flavor when they sear the meat. Now, since it was wagyu, the meat should have been a bit more tender and melt in your mouth however it was more on the chewy side. Wish the broth was more hot. The crab added such a great depth of flavor to the broth. We ordered a fried pork dish that came with a lot of sautéed veggies which were nice and crunchy. The sticky rice may have been microwaved a little too much, most of it was hard and inedible. They apologized for the error but still charged us for it. The wagyu was buttery and soft, albeit the coconut broth does slightly overpower the wagyu notes, but the savouriness does shine through. What started out at disappointing turned into an incredible meal. Initially, we went to mama surang's for the lobster dish. We called ahead, made reservations as you're supposed to for this dish. When we arrived, they said the lobster was left out and not in good condition so they could not serve us the dish. While I am happy they have health standards, we were very disappointed. The curry is rich & creamy, & the combo of the wagyu & crab is *chef's kiss* It came with noodles underneath, so you don't need any rice unless you want it! 2. Lobster & Shrimp Tom Yum Soup - This was an expensive item on the menu ($59.95) but we wanted to try it at least once! They also serve this tableside, where they torch the lobster & shrimp before pouring the soup on top. It was absolutely delicious!! I'm a big fan of tom yum so the soup itself was perfectly spicy, with that classic lemongrass tom yum flavor. It came with noodles (which I wasn't expecting) & I don't think it needed it so I wish they didn't add it. This was still really good but I don't think I'd order again for the price. 3. Short Story- The food is good but service can be better to say the least. Long Story- This restaurant was highly recommended to me so I wanted to give it a try. I did notice that the on-line menu does differ some from the actual menu. I asked about the Crispy Spinach salad that is on the special menu (on-line) and the server looked at me like I was incorrect... I asked what kind of fish is used for the crispy fish and the waiter instead of finding out just said, "I don't know." Latter I found out the food spiciness runs number one-five. The spice runs mild here so if you want a little heat you need to order at least number four. Anyways We started out by trying the potstickers. Here they are fried all over crisp instead of just crisp bottoms and are ok. Within a minute my husband's Drunken noodles comes out but my meal doesn't make it to the table for at least TWENTY MINUTES with nobody saying anything to me during this time and we were the only table too.,.... We were upset and were about to leave. My husband told them he was going to pay for (what we had so far) the potstickers and my iced tea while his meal was getting old and cold waiting 20 minutes for mine. Then after that I told the owner if the kitchen has some sort of problem they should tell me instead of just letting me sit there for 20 minutes with no communication at all. I really enjoy Surang's as it is one of my favorite Thai places in the South West and it's also really close to my house. They seem to have changed branding and appear on social media more often and I'm all for it. One of my favorite go to dishes in this place is the Catfish Delight. It's a fried fish in some curry sauce with red/yellow peppers as well as lime leaves. It's definitely a great dish that you can't find at a lot of Thai places and its packed with flavor. We recently came here for their newer dishes which was the Wagyu Crab Khao Soi and the Lobster Tom Yum Noodle Soup. They were both definitely great dishes and definitely worth a try. If you want something more sour with a little spice I'd suggest the Lobster Tom Yum Noodle Soup. If you want something more creamy and meaty, get the Wagyu Crab Khao Soi. Both are full with great flavor and I would definitely highly recommend either one. The interior of this place is pretty cool as it almost gives you a home type of feel with the dining room table type of chairs. Especially with the cabinet, it makes it feel like you're in someone's home and you're getting a home cooked meal. The service is pretty fast. Yelp Review 2024 #100: Apparently, Mama Surang's has been around for over 10 years but have recently gained more traction and notoriety due to social media which I'm very skeptical of because I've been steered the wrong way a few times by influencers and it makes me mad. I must say, they were right about this one but with caution! We had to wait 30 minutes to get a table for dinner on a Vegas summer. But somebody always checks on people waiting outside and offering us cold bottled water. The place is rather small and the interior and seats are rather outdated. But the service is their biggest asset. Very caring and attentive. The servers really engage with diners which is refreshing. They have vegetarian options for our friend. They also cater to vegan and gluten-free diners. American Wagyu & Holy Crab Khao Soi: $34.95 American wagyu, crab meat, egg noodle, in yellow curry. Great table-side prep and presentation. Our server torched the wagyu beef and assembled everything else in front of us. Very tasty. I wish we got 2 orders! 5/5 Beef Brisket with Broccoli: One of the many entrees they have on the menu. You can pick whatever protein you want. I picked beef brisket with broccoli and carrots in a brown sauce. Comes with a side of rice. Not very exciting, to be honest. But it was one of those decisions made due to panicking when you decide to chat first look at the menu later. This took a long time to come out. 2.5/5 Pad Thai: A classic. Pad Thai noodles were soft and coated with flavor. Crushed peanuts, sprouts and green onions for extra flavor and crunch. You can choose what protein you want. 4/5 Get an actual menu. The QR code doesn't give you anything. I highly suggest ordering from the Chef Specialties or if you have your go-to Thai dish, go with that. read more

I absolutely love this hidden gem. The decor is nothing fancy, very basic but you don't come to this place for that. The food hands down is FABULOUS. Thai dishes done to perfection, chicken satay is always juicy, their panang is to die for. Service is always welcoming and friendly. Wow, I was so stuffed after eating here! Everything had a lot of flavor and was delicious. We ordered the famous American wagyu & holy crab khao soi beef brisket panang curry and beef salad. All dishes were level 1 spicy. Khao Soi: The wagyu beef was super tender, broth was flavorful and noodles were perfect. Beef Salad: Lots of flavor and the beef was tender. Beef Brisket Panang Curry: flavorful and rich. Comes with rice to eat with. Overall I would come back to try other items but the khao soi was definitely a hit. read more
