MILPA WOWWW. So yummy. I give this spot a 5 out of 5! It's a small place but worth the wait. T he service is top notch all the ladies are smiling and willing to help and the food mwah *chefs kiss* the best. I haven't had amazing authentic mexican food in a long while. It was nice to wonder into MILPA and have my expectations exceeded. We will definitely be back... I was so full but still wanted more. The flavors the ambiance. Absolutely recommend
Stop by this super cute small little local spot for lunch. It was a little hot in the building but the young lady at counter was very nice and helpful. We asked her what she liked and took her recommendation of the milpa and harvest bowl and added chicken. It was a little pricey but the portions were really big so very worth it. The bowls were very fresh and the sauce with the bowls were so savory and well seasoned. The place is a little small if you are dining in maybe fits like 20 so people. Will definitely be back for other items. This is definitely worth the price for delicious and nutritious food.

The menu is inspired in the gastronomy of that state, so don't be surprised when you read "blue-corn" masa, actually, give it a try. Returned to Milpa after several years on a Sunday for brunch. Place was packed. But we were able to get a table after 15 minutes. Staff were friendly. Restaurant is small but fits lots of small tables. Very nicely decorated. Our food was delicious. Queso Birria tacos were yummy. Tried their Horchata Iced Coffee. So yummy. Great place for Mexican food!
Enjoyed breakfast here today. Milpa is a small but modern, cozy spot with high quality food. I ordered the huevos rancheros.. It was served with a delicious velvety spicy sauce, avocado, and Mexican garnishes of thinly sliced purple onion with cilantro and Cotija cheese . The tortilla was crispy, tostada style, and had a layer of black beans on it. It all tasted wonderful. My only criticism is that there should have been more of it. The portion was not large. I also ordered their handmade heirloom corn tortillas which were served warm. I highly recommend the tortillas. The service is friendly and cheerful, but they seem slightly understaffed so be patient it is worth the wait.
After seeing so many people raving about this place we had to come and try for ourselves! It feels very modern, clean and earth tones aesthetics when you walk in! The gal at the cash register was very nice and helped us choose the tacos we were uncertain about getting and gave great recommendations! We ended up trying almost all the tacos! They were out of the ribeye tacos so we gotta come back just for those but by far the best was the birria tacos with consumé and the Barbacoa tacos! lots of flavor and came out hot! 10/10 would recommend to all my friends and family!
Holy Pinole what a great local find for gluten free pancakes with Oaxacan authenticity! They were moist, the powdered sugar and cinnamon gave it just the right amount of warmth. No butter needed. 11 out of 10!

The birria was extremely tender and had a lot of depth in the consomé. A lot of spots in SD and LA have it stewed too long or boiled too heavily, so while it's tender, it ends up dry. This spot nailed it. The fish taco was solid and perfectly seasoned. The al pastor was alright, not nearly as good as what you'd get carved off the trompo at street stands in LA. My favorite dish was the ceviche, which had a lot of depth and smokiness from the chiles. I'll definitely be back!
When I came to visit a friend in town, he told me he wanted to go here and another place. When I looked it up I was delighted to see that I had already bookmarked it as a place to try. We had a pup with us and in the yelp review we saw that they were dog friendly. When we got there, we didn't see any outdoor seating so I popped in to see if we could bring her in or if we needed to get take out. To our relief they told us we could bring her in as long as she stayed under the table and was on her leash. No problem. There are several tables allowing for many group sizes with the bathroom outside, which was very clean. We ordered a bunch of stuff to share: Cilantro lime shrimp Barbacoa beef Birria tacos Apple empanada We got extra blue corn tortillas that were served warm. I got a Horchata matcha which was refreshing. The food came out quickly and it was all very good. The tortillas were soft and warm. The barbacoa was super tender and flavorful. The birria is some of the best I've had in a very very long while. The shrimp were well cooked as well. The apple empanada was delicious! The apple pieces were diced into tiny cubes with a yummy masa wrapping coated in sugar. Everyone who came by and helped were super friendly and welcoming. Such a great experience. Definitely get off the strip and check this place out!!

This was my second time coming here, though my boyfriend has lost count of how many times he has been. It is easy to see why he likes it so much. The restaurant has a very nice vibe, and the service is always great from the moment you walk in. You order at the counter and then grab a table. We came for breakfast this time, and the food did not disappoint. I ordered the breakfast taco, and my boyfriend had the chilaquiles. Both dishes were fresh and delicious. We also tried the drinks and were really impressed. My boyfriend loved the Mexican coffee, and my iced coffee with blueberry flavor was unique and great. We will definitely be back again soon.
I finally checked Milpa off my Yelp bookmarks, and now I'm wondering why I waited so long! It was absolutely worth the wait. We started with the chips and salsa, and the salsas were on point. My favorite was the red, and I loved that they were served warm, it makes such a difference in flavor compared to the cold stuff most places serve. The queso birria tacos were delicious the braised beef was incredibly juicy, and the consomé had a great flavorful kick to it. I also really enjoyed the suadero tacos, which were so tender. But the real showstopper? The beer-batter fish tacos. Wow! Every flavor combined perfectly. The space itself is super cute, clean, modern, and simple with nice plant accents. Plus, the staff was very friendly and welcoming. I'll easily be a regular here from now on!

They made their own tortilla in house. You order your food at the counter and sit yourselves. Anything that we ordered hit home. The shrimp tacos taste fantastic, the pancakes are fluffy. We also ordered ice chocolate here and love it. They have restroom outside of the shop, so just keep that in mind. read more

Small but it has a spacious and modern feel . The food was so good I tried three different tacos: shrimp, birria, and barbacoa all my favorites. You know it's good when you see grease and indeed has so much good flavor. I tried the horchata and would say it's a must try. I also tried the probiotic and prebiotic drinks. If you didn't know, Milpa is a top 100 place to visit and that's for good reason Ordered to go and the service was still fast I tried most of their tacos the standouts were Fish taco - got the beer battered Mahi Mahi. Solid and it's a must order if you like fish tacos Ribeye Asada - meat excellent but I would caution the spicy salsa paired with this. It is a creeper and will recommend getting that on the side if you don't like spicy. Queso Birria - this might go down as one of the best and cleanest birria tacos I've had. The consome goes with everything. It's not super greasy or salty. It's a great balance of flavors. The birria meat had excellent flavor and the cheese that blanketed the meat inside is the perfect complement Love that everything is made down to the tortilla. I just moved to the area and want to try everything...this was my first choice, and it hit the mark! Everything was fresh and inspired, with complex, layered flavors. The chips were crisp and lightly seasoned, the guacamole was perfectly chunky and bright, and the corn was creamy and just slightly smokey. My favorite was the mushroom taco- the blue corn tortilla set the stage for the savory, meaty mushrooms. I used the green salsa on everything because it was that versatile. We visited on Friday, with a party of two, for lunch and it was a very nice experience. We arrived and grabbed a table in the dining area. The place is relatively small and fills up fast. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. We went with the Birria Tacos, Barbacoa Beef Bowl, Potatoes and a Paloma Sampler. The food was excellent. They label it as healthy, but the tacos were crisp, cheesy and dripping with delicious grease. The Palomas were tasty and strong. The service was good, the waitress was friendly and responsive. If you're the kind of person who gets a little flutter in your heart when you see mushroom or cauliflower tacos on a menu, let me introduce you to your new happy place: Milpa. It's not to say carnivores aren't welcome as they actually have a ton of meaty choices, it's just that any restaurant that makes cauliflower a delicious showstopper gets my attention. They clearly put real effort into building flavor. A lot of the dishes come wrapped in their homemade blue corn masa tortillas, which are so good you might briefly consider committing a felony to secure an extra one. I'm not saying I would mug a grandma for a blue masa tortilla... but if there's a grandma out there casually carrying one in her purse, she should probably keep an eye on me. These tortillas are that good. While I was there, I noticed that Phil Rosenthal from Somebody Feed Phil has stopped by and sung their praises. honestly, no shock there. The food is creative without being precious, bold without being showy. Just really, really solid. The vibe is great neighborhood energy -- casual, relaxed, the kind of place where you order at the counter but still feel genuinely taken care of. It's not white-tablecloth, hushed-dining-room service, but friendly, attentive, and warm. Also do not skip the drinks. I had a pomegranate paloma that was dangerously delicious -- bright, refreshing, and the perfect companion to those blue masa masterpieces. If you're visiting Vegas, this is absolutely worth the 15 minute drive off the Strip. And if you live in Vegas You probably already know. If not, your taco standards are about to change. read more
Low key embarrassed to admit that I went here for brunch twice in one week but y'all...Milpa is really that good. I went here on a recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint. Out of the two dishes I tried I'd say the Huevos Rancheros was my favorite but the Chilaquiles were just as great. You can't go wrong with either option. Service was very friendly too. Staff was accommodating to any questions I had and were quite chatty. You order at the counter and they deliver your items to your table. After an early morning flight from Reno, my husband and I drove directly to Milpas for an early breakfast. At first we were surprised to see the sleepy shopping center pretty much empty. However, after ordering our food the cozy restaurant quickly filled up. The woman working at the counter greeted us and chatted as we looked over the menu. My husband was starving having woken up at 4 for our flight and not having eaten anything by nearly 9am, so he got a breakfast dessert to eat right away as well as huevos rancheros with red sauce. I was torn between the Blue Corn Pinole Pancakes and the Chilaquiles! I opted for the Chilaquiles with green sauce and scrambled eggs with an add-on of beef birria. We seated ourselves and our coffees were promptly delivered to the table. My husband enjoyed his breakfast dessert and americano. The Dulce de Leche Latte was wonderful--warm, not too sweet, and creamy! I absolutely loved the Chilaquiles! The birria was served on the side so I was able to portion how much I wanted on my dish and share some with my husband. The green sauce was the right choice. Everything about the dish was fresh, light, and delicious! I felt satiated at the end of the meal and ready for my next adventure. I was so refreshing to have cozy Mexican food that also felt healthy and light. Next time I am in Vegas, I will have to go back to try more on the menu. Already looking forward to it! read more
Today during lunch I was looking for a bite to eat and remembered a friend suggesting Milpa's, and I'm so glad I paid attention. Cute and cozy spot right on Durango. Everyone was so pleasant when we arrived. We ordered the birria tacos and they did not disappoint. They came with a side of the most flavorful consommé ever--so good I couldn't resist taking a few sips. The wait time was short, which was a plus. We heard about Milpa from the Netflix show Somebody Feed Phil! We were in Vegas for the first time in a while and only had one day to visit... so we ended up getting tacos for breakfast lol. Service was amazing!! The person that was helping us was kind to offer recommendations, and he was super attentive as well. The fooood: + Chilaquiles ($16.75) (4.5/5): I've never had chilaquiles before, so this was my introduction to it! I really loved how the tortillas were crispy. The salsa was SUPER good too. I'm typically not a big fan of beans, but these hit the spot for me as well! + The tacos - we got a variety! The fish taco, suadero, and birria queso tacos were all delicious. The highlight was DEFINITELY the suadero though. I really enjoyed the crispy bits of brisket. I'd come back more often if I lived closer! I feel like you really can't go wrong with most of their menu. I appreciated the self-service kiosk since it had photos of all of their offerings. I'll be back! read more

I was in the area and I stopped by to get some food to go. The staff is still very friendly and service was quick. I got the ribeye asada tacos again and I decided to try the horchata cold brew and the cute corncha they had. The meat for the tacos remains as good as I remember! The tortillas were a little too thin this time around though and were breaking as I was trying to eat my taco. It's okay though, overall I enjoyed my meal. The horchata cold brew was not very good, but maybe I just don't like the coffee. It's too bitter for me. This is just my opinion though, and for reference, I prefer sweeter coffees with more milk. Now, the corncha is super cute! I warmed it up when I got home and enjoyed it so much! I love the creative idea. Happy to have gone back and I'll continue to stop by when I'm in the area. My boyfriend and I tried chilaquiles the last time came in together and we loved it! Good portion too from what I remember. Thank you for a great experience team Milpa! read more

Prices are on the higher end but you pay for what you get for. Eating here always transports me right back to Mexico City. Food here is always the highest quality, and their housemade tortillas are unbeatable. Their birria tacos are my favorite in town, and they have some delicious and healthy bowls if you're not in the mood for tacos - although I wish the portions were a bit bigger for the bowls. read more

Founded in early 2021 Milpa has come a long way since it took over the former Elia space at 4226 South Durango Drive, Chef DJ Flores' embrace of traditional techniques with an eye towards health-conscious cooking earning a James Beard Award semi-finalist nod in 2024. Open daily for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner with an odd location in the lot of a Strip-mall, easily missed despite the fact that Chef Flores is cooking some of the best contemporary Mexican Cuisine in Sin City, guests will find the interior quaint while service is both efficient and charming. Recently forming Nivel Hospitality Group with Aaron Cappello, their bar called Nocturno earning positive reviews in the Arts District, Milpa remains part Molino and part sit-down Café with stone-ground housemade Tortillas and slowly-braised Meats a point of pride. Simple in signage, Milpa Mexican Cafe in yellow over the door, most Entrees hover in the $15-20 range with both Barbacoa and Beef Birria with Consomme showing the sort of depth one might expect of a Vegas native with skills developed under thinkfoodgroup and Too Hot Tamales before staging at Quintonil in Mexico City. We are locals and we've been wanting to try Milpa for a while. It's in a small plaza that's not super busy, so parking was easy. Cute inside with limited seating. We visited on Labor day weekend, in the early afternoon, with a small queue at the door. You order at the front and hope you have a table when your food is ready Some people grabbed a table before they ordered, causing us to wait after ordering out food, a few minutes before we could sit down. Food comes out fast and they're really quick on cleaning up tables, so they can turn them over fast. The fiancé ordered two birria tacos and I ordered two barbacoa with a single fish taco. The birria meat was flavorful but the tortilla was disappointing. Only one was dipped in consommé and neither had any crisp to it. My barbacoa meat was tasty but I was not a fan of my tortilla either. The fish portion in the taco was so tiny, not very fresh tasting, and a little dry. One bite was enough for me, I couldn't finish it or the tortillas. The service was fast, nice and attentive. The bathroom is outside the restaurant. It has such high ratings and reviews that we had high hopes but it felt flat for us. To be fair, we are comparing it to the tacos in Southern California and Mexico that we enjoy on a regular. Maybe it was an off day or we ordered the wrong thing. We'll give it another chance in the not too near future. read more

Is there any entree that is gluten free here? Does this restaurant use a shared fryer for things like flour taquitos that would cross contaminate gluten free corn tortilla chips? I have Celiac disease and have to eat gluten free.
Hi Rachel, most of our menu is gluten free. The only think we have that has gluten is our pancakes. Let us know when you want to come in and we can make sure nothing is cross contaminated. Our corn tortillas are gluten free as well.
