This review is based solely on the burger Wow! Just, wow I have been to many, MANY places to get a good burger, but this may be one of the absolute best burgers I've had. When you go out, most places - not all, but most - you need to say medium rare if you want medium, rare if you want medium rare, and... well, that's about it, because if you order anything from medium well to well done than you just shouldn't be eating burgers. But this place, I asked for medium rare, feeling like a medium that day, and it came out the most perfect rare I have ever had! The char on the outside of this obviously hand made patty, while still being heated through all the delicious pink inside! Oh man! I don't think I need to say much more. The wife had the chicken strips and fries, which she said were "perfectly portioned at three strips." Service was as good as any place should be. And prices weren't bad at all. read more

We had such a great meal at Salt & Spoon with a group of friends! We ordered a little bit of everything to share, including the breakfast potatoes, truffle fries, garlic bread, Caprese salad, miso bowl with avocado, fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, the burger, and the salmon. Everything was delicious, and I genuinely enjoyed every dish we tried. My husband's favorite was the burger--it was juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. I especially loved the salmon, which was cooked beautifully, and the brown rice was surprisingly so flavorful. Paired with the avocado, it made for such a satisfying combination. I wish I would've taken a picture of my food, but it was delicious. I had a turkey avocado sandwich. Simple, right? But they did a great job with it. The veggies were fresh & the multi-grain bread quality was great. You can tell they care about the food they serve - it tasted high quality. I'm impressed. I ate here with my wife & 2 kids - we all had our food within 10-15 minutes, very short wait time. Attentive service & clean interior. Was in town on a getaway with the fellas and we hit Salt and Spoon for lunch. The interior of the restaurant is super basic so I was concerned at first. But that concern quickly disappeared after the food came. I had the Turkey Avocado sandwich, with a salad and side of fries. The sandwich was really good and everything tasted really fresh. I was pretty substantial and could only eat half (too the rest to go for a late night snack). The service was great and the staff took great care of us. Found this place on yelp, I liked it bc it had a variety of dishes. The place is clean- which is more important than decor. The food was good, we ordered the salmon bowl, shrimp bowl, 2 burgers and 2 fried chicken sandwiches. I had the burger- it was really good. My sister had the salmon bowl and she said it was really good. The service was good, I just couldn't figure out why the 20% gratuity was automatically added to our bill when the service was just okay. Very small strip mall. Not a lot of parking. It's a very small place. I had the peach salad which was very good, but not a very generous portion. Also had the avocado feta beet salad and it was very good and it was a bigger serving. Had a side of salmon that was very good. Ordered the shrimp scampi, and it was pretty pricey for only five pieces of shrimp. It was not what I would think of as a traditional shrimp scampi with only two cherry tomatoes, and had a little bit of corn sprinkled on top and about two green beans, chopped. Salt & Spoon has always intrigued with their continuously high ratings since they opened. I finally got a chance to sample their menu and can see why they are getting all this love. First off, the interior is really simple which can throw you off as the menu is a bit fancier than one would expect. We went on a Tuesday, so it was a bit quiet with only one other party dining there when we walked in. We were greeted immediately and had our choice of seats. * Parmesan Truffle Fries $12 - We got the larger order (small order is $6) and shared it. You definitely get that truffle oil and the parmesan is nicely shaved over it. * Asian Chicken Salad $18 - It's been a long time since I had an Asian Chicken Salad and it did not disappoint. Loaded with wonton strips on top, it was fresh and filling. * Miso Salmon Salt & Spoon Bowl $23 - My friend got this dish as he initially saw it when he was searching for restaurants to eat at. The salmon portion was super generous and looked amazingly moist. He said it was great and would definitely get it again. And it sat on what he described as a fried brown rice, which he also liked. It looks like their menu changes for the weekend as they are not open for dinner then. So it's more of a brunch menu on the weekends. I was curious about their Mushroom Risotto but did not see it on their current menu. Service was top notch. The only server working checked on us so many times, pretty much every time she passed by she had her eye on us. And it wasn't annoying either, she made it comfortable and not intrusive. As she was about to serve the other table their dessert, she made a point of showing it to us as a way to entice us. Very smart and it almost worked! Overall, it's elevated food and service in a casual environment. There's honestly nothing really bad to write about here. Very disappointing visit. I came in to place a to-go order and was immediately asked if I was picking up, instead of being greeted with a simple "hello" or "welcome." The customer service was lacking, and although the staff seemed overwhelmed, the restaurant was not busy at all. After placing my order, I was informed less than 10 minutes later that the item was no longer available, which was surprising. I ordered a basic bolognese, and it's hard to understand how such standard ingredients would run out three hours before closing. Based on the ratings, I'm actually really surprised with our experience at Salt & Spoon. First, I want to start out with what was great. And that was the direct customer service. Our waitress was new and training but was super attentive and friendly, and the man at the counter who also waited on us was also very nice. Between the two of them, we felt like they were always there to check in on us, but not in an overbearing way. They were prompt to grab items we needed (like new utensils when some fell on the floor), and they were also fair when there was a menu discrepancy on the kids menu about drinks (btw, the restaurant owner should remove the wording about the drinks being included with the kids menu items if that has officially changed). Aside from that, everything else was pretty poor. The food itself was just not good, especially for the price. I got the Asian chicken salad, and for almost $20, I felt like it was so below average. The chicken itself was tough and actually unpleasant to eat. The only reason I finished it was because I hate wasting food and was starving and pregnant. I think the only thing I actually enjoyed in the salad were the mandarin oranges. My husband thought his Caesar salad was also below average. I guess we have to keep in mind that he has often made his own Caesar dressing and salads at home from scratch with high-quality ingredients, so his standards are pretty high. But again, for that price, it definitely was not worth it. The kids' breakfast platter was not that great either. The bacon was overcooked and hard. The toast was a bit hard too, but that could've just been it being sourdough. My daughter usually loves eggs, but she was not a fan of the ones here. The one thing they both enjoyed that was good was the strawberry jam. All-in-all, I left the restaurant feeling really underwhelmed with the food and wishing we'd gone somewhere else. The other big issue was the wait time. For similar orders (and even more complex orders) in other restaurants, it has taken a fraction of the wait time. We had planned for one hour to eat, but we had to wait over 30 minutes for two basic salads and a simple kids breakfast platter. The place wasn't that busy, so maybe they were understaffed? Either way, for that wait time, you'd simply expect better food at the very least. As far as the restaurant itself, it's not what I expected, but it was okay. The decor is very basic and plain and didn't seem like much thought was put into the look and feel. But it was definitely clean, and the waitress and other staff did an excellent job making sure to keep the tables tidy. All of that being said, I don't plan to come here again. The only reason I'd have to come here again is the really nice staff. But that's it. Unfortunately, a restaurant requires more than that for me to be willing to spend money there. read more

I've been to Salt & Spoon a few times now but never got around to leaving a review, figured it was time lol. This time I ordered through DoorDash and picked it up. I got the breakfast plate and the steak & eggs. Everything was so good! The steak was cooked just right and the chimichurri sauce on top? Fire. The hard scrambled eggs came out perfect, not dry or rubbery. The chimichurri potatoes were crazy good! I could honestly eat a whole bowl of those. Bacon and muffin were also on point. It was busy when I walked in (it's Sunday so of course everyone's out eating), but my food was still ready in a decent amount of time which I really appreciated. Also, the girl at the counter was super nice and friendly, good vibes all around. Portions are a little on the smaller side but the flavor makes up for it. 3 of us went on a Saturday and found that on the weekend they have a brunch menu. It was about 4:15 when we arrived, and they do a last call at 4:30 because they close at 5ish ( depending on if they still have guests in their restaurant). We were served by Andrew and he was great in answering our questions and attending to the basics of the table. We ordered to share the beet salad and my mom and I split their burger and we did regular fries not truffle fries. They were delicious. My dad got steak and eggs and said it was good. The food was ample, fresh and nicely plated. I wish I knew it was a brunch menu, because it wasn't listed on yelp that the menu was different. Unfortunately, I ordered the pesto pasta and it was so bad, in my opinion. They really need to change this recipe or remove it altogether. It was a challenge to swallow each bite....so saturated in pesto (the entire pasta just tasted like pesto, as if you're just eating spoonfuls of it) and it was so salty. This is a restaurant with potential, but currently is not the go-to American spot in the southwest (we desperately need a good one to mix it up with the amazing Asian restaurants in the area). We came for brunch. I ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken itself was juicy and tender, but the breading was hard and tasted strongly of old grease. My waffles also had the old grease taste, not sure if the fried chicken grease dripped onto the waffles. We also got bulgogi fries, which were great. The fries themselves were excellent, reminded me of McDonald's fries, which are my personal favorite fast food fry. I would've given the spot 4 stars if the environment was more comfortable. The interior was a little disappointing; it looked like a DIY project. In my opinion, a comfortable and cozy ambiance for brunch/lunch spots like this is super important for gossip sessions and tea spilling. The minimal furniture, plain decor, and bad lighting were not inviting. The ladies who were are servers were excellent and on point. Considering it was my brother's 52nd birthday dinner, that was pretty disappointing. As a chef, being out of more than one or two menu items during dinner service would concern me. Because of that, half our table ended up settling for the fried chicken sandwich, which was just okay. The service itself was good, although we were the only table there. I originally discovered Salt & Spoon about a year ago while picking up food for a friend, and I loved the concept of the restaurant. I remember thinking I'd definitely come back someday. So when we were looking for a nice, laid-back place to celebrate without going to the Strip or somewhere overly high-end, Salt & Spoon seemed like the perfect choice. The first thing that greeted me was the smell of the place, it's like a mild sewer stench. I decided to stay since the place was chosen by the other person I was meeting. Then we're told that burger, bulgogi, and basically anything with beef is unavailable because the person who prepped it didn't come in & the owner didn't want to do it (red flag there), so we ordered BLT & shrimp scampi. While waiting for our food, to our surprise the table next to us served a burger for his meal and that's a WTF moment. It was a long wait for our meal and they are unsatisfactory, the scampi is soupy & bland, honestly an insult to even non-Italians. I was told the BLT was OK but the salad dressing was too salty. The service was A+++ The chef and the server really went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and tried very hard to take care of our needs. The chef even showed us how to turn the high chair upside down to accommodate the baby seat. We went for a birthday celebration as everyone had different food concerns. I would have liked to try some of the pasta dishes, but I don't do too well with heavy milk products such as the cream sauces and I don't eat meat. Instead I had the salmon a là carte (perfectly done) and the Caesar Salad, with the to die for French bread with Parmesan and seasoning! The salad has a deep anchovy taste and for purists it will fill your happy place. For me however, it was too much anchovy. The wine that Alicia advised me to try (a white Spanish wine I believe) married perfectly. I also had hot tea on the side. I will rate this per the items that I ate and not everyone else's. Some side comments though were that the Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese Sandwich were "Amazingly great", the pasta for one person was too creamy, but for another (different dish) they enjoyed it, the Chimichurri sauce was red and not green and didn't taste as expected. read more
