Chicken Tenders and made from scratch Mac and cheese.
    Barry F.

Stopped by Mama Bird while visiting family in Las Vegas and wow--this place delivered. I went with the chicken fingers (had to try something simple), and they were outstanding. Super crispy, well-seasoned, and clearly not your average tenders. Big shoutout to our server, Agata--she was fantastic. Friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Service like that really stands out. Great food, great service, and a spot I'd definitely come back to next time I'm in Vegas. Highly recommend.

First of all let's talk about Gio! This guy is an amazing server who continued to go above and beyond for us. And can we hear it for Chef?! More to come... When we travel to Vegas, we don't venture off the strip because we fly in. So when we had the opportunity from our road trip to explore outside and try some of the amazing restaurants we decided to try this place out. We called ahead to see if there was outside seating and that it was dog friendly. We were happy to hear that it was! Drinks- Watermelon Lemonade is chef's kiss! Everything is freshly juiced and made in-house. 10/10 recommend l. Starters- We started with the deviled eggs and they were delicious. The candied jalapeños were a great touch to balance out the savory. I'm normally a weakling when it comes to jalapeños, but the candied version was subtle. Get the 3 if sharing with someone so you don't overload ahead of the generous entrees. Entrees- We opted for the two piece fried chicken thighs with mac & cheese and jalapeño cornbread. The fried chicken was delicious. They brine the chicken for three days and it tasted tender and flavor packed! I don't like mac & cheese and it is never my first choice or my second choice, but whatever sorcery is in this mac & cheese I must know. It was delicious and not heavy on the cheddar taste - subtle and slightly rich. Loved that the pasta was al dente. Now here's where our boy Gio comes in. We came here to try the fried chicken AND the brisket. However, we learned that the brisket cannot be sold under a pound. They only charge by the pound. Knowing that we had a hearty entree coming with the chicken thighs, we knew we would not be able to eat a pound of brisket in addition. So we tried to get creative and say we'll just order the grilled cheese put the brisket on the side LOL. Gio went above and beyond and spoke with the Chef so that we could try the brisket on its own. So shout out to Gio and Chef for making that accommodation for us. But the customer service didn't stop there. Gio brought out some water for our pup and the Chef even gave her a small burnt end, which, of course, she was thrilled about. We really appreciated the hospitality that was shown to all of us, including our pup, and for the extra mile that they went. As far as dog friendly goes, I think the above speaks for itself. There are two large tables outside of the restaurant which they consider their patio. Feel free to bring your pup and enjoy amazing food and fantastic service.

I got a bunch of spots saved on my yelp and honestly I never get around to all of em but I finally made it out to Mama Bird. After taking my wife to take pics at the welcome to Vegas sign and 7 magic mountains. I ended up getting the pit master. I was l stuck for a min trying to decide what to get, everything sounded good, but im pretty sure you cant really go wrong here Food came out lookin fire and tasted even better. the meats were juicy and had hella flavor. also dont be scared of the jalapeños. they are more sweet than spicy so they actually go real good with everything place had a good vibe, nothing crazy just chill and solid food.

Extremely delicious. Been flirting with coming here for years, last meal of the year out was here with friends (who'd also never been and were excited to come) and it didn't disappoint! The doors super heavy but a nice guy headed the same way rushed over to open it and that set the tone. Our friends were seated, we joined them and Crystal quickly came over and introduced herself. Our friends used to be in the restaurant business so through their questions I learned that so much of what's served is made in house. I was shocked to learn the ginger beer was house made. My kinda place! I did apricot peach. So delicious. We came during happy hour so we did the pickles n green beans w dill ranch and deviled eggs for the table. The pickles n beans were my favorite. The egg didn't do it for me. 3/4 of us ordered the brisket and rib combo. 1 just did all brisket. The meat was SO tender. I love the bark on the ribs and the brisket was fall apart tender w a similar bark on the edges. I did cheddar grits. Fantastic flavor. There were hints of onion in there too. Woman did the greens. I loved those too. Our friends did slaw and mac, which they also said was delicious. Woman's ribs were overcooked in comparison to the other two of us. I wish she'd gotten another piece but she gave it to our friends. The water was meh so I switched to sparkling. The biscuit was also not a fave. It's called an everything biscuit. I thought it was going to be a honey butter one. No one was particularly crazy about it but the cornbread had jalapeños so that was out. The menu is small yet vast and impressive. I had curiosity around the watermelon soft serve but was told they were out. The parkings always chaotic around here but it's worth braving. They also own Hola - which I went to but don't remember the food, and rise and shine where I guess they wear pajamas which is cool. Service was solid. I ran out of sparkling at one point, but my glass didn't sit empty too long before Crystal brought me a fresh one. She was very attentive, knowledgeable, kind and patient. I'll absolutely be back. I want to try the pulled pork and their catfish. The place is cute, just be prepared for country music. Thanks for a great meal and experience. Cat man's LOVING the ribs and the briskets so tender he's enjoying that too (and he barely eats beef when served as cat food. Let alone human food!)

What a great little spot to drive to and enjoy a little breakfast with the family! We were greeted as soon as we walked into the restaurant and sat right away. I was sort of surprised by this since it was a Saturday during what I would assume is the breakfast rush. We had a starter of fried pickles and those were just perfect. I've never had them a thin slice like that before but they we're truly like pickle fries!! My boyfriend was ecstatic to try the bloody Marys with bourbon. Definitely more up his alley than mine but he must have loved them as he had two! I tried to piece of the bacon that was in the bloody Mary but the bourbon flavor was very strong for me. Grits were AMAZING! I ordered grits and pork belly, to me the grits were the standout of the meal. Just need a little bit of salt on top but that's just my personal preference, and they had cheese in there. Just amazing!! And I know the chicken fried steak with gravy was amazing because I didn't even get a bite of it. He ate it right up! Guess that means we'll be going back to try more!

Thanks to Google restaurants near me search for this find. When we travel, we like to find local favorites and Momma Birds has to be one of them. Everything was fantastic from the greetings to the food. Our waitress Agatha was a delight to speak with and she explained their menu to us and informed us about their in house home made items such as Watermelon ice teas to their slow roasted brisket, to their house fresh made ranch. Agata introduced their bar products to us and shared that they are a Burbon specialty bar and that ties into them being a Sothern kitchen. We went with happy hour food items so that we could eat a little variety of items like the 50-50 fried green beans and pickles, the buffalo tater tots with shredded brisket, and the fried chicken sliders. Their dill homemade ranch was deliciously amazing that I had to spoon it onto my chicken sliders and the Buffalo tots, I was expecting them to be dripping in Buffalo sauce but surprisingly, they weren't and that brisket that topped those bad boys was so tasty. For my drink, I went with a sweet tea that was very tasty it was what real southern sweet tea is all about. They are open for breakfast, lunch and supper so if happen to be in the area or in a drivable area, take the drive and have a bite and enjoy the lovely decor while you enjoy a great meal and tell Agata Christina and Ron said Hi.

Came here a few times with family. The fried green beans are really tasty and I always get those when I come here! One of my favorites on the menu. The appetizer eggs were okay. They could've had a little more flavor, but the presentation was amazing. And the shrimp and grits are mmm good. My family gets the bbq dishes and said they are delicious too. Great service as well. Highly recommended if in the Henderson area and in the mood for some bbq, southern inspired food.

Crystal is the SWEETEST! BRISKET, fried pickles were excellent! Will be back for more

IG worthy, but impossible to eat (and not that tasty)

Happened upon this place while RV shopping since it seemed to have a menu that everyone liked. The restaurant itself is very clean and welcoming. Everyone that works there is awesome and extremely friendly and helpful. The staff bumped them up a star. The food is where we had the issue. Maybe it was an off day because I know they have amazing reviews. I ordered a small shrimp and grits and the first one came out without the shrimp. Very apologetic staff and quickly corrected the issue. The grits were unfortunately pasty (which is why I rarely order them, but this seemed like an authentic Southern kitchen) and the shrimp were itty bitty. Think salad shrimp tiny. Both my husband and father ordered the pulled pork sandwich and said it was okay, but both wished they were warned it was spicy beforehand. My brother ordered that ridiculous mac and cheese fried chicken waffle. It was impossible to eat as you couldn't pick it up and if you cut into it, everything fell out. The waffle was way too sweet and the mac and cheese was only okay. The best thing on the table was my nephew's chicken fingers. Just sayin'

Food: 2/5 (non-beef options) Service: 2/5 (likely a one-off issue) Drinks: 4.5/5 Bathroom: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 I debated whether to leave a review since my partner already posted one, but I ultimately decided to share my perspective as someone who does not eat beef. I recognize this is primarily a brisket-focused restaurant, so I am not their target customer, but most groups include at least one person with dietary limitations. It felt worth mentioning. Our biggest issue was a miscommunication among the staff about who was supposed to serve our table. This became a problem because we were hoping for a quick and memorable last stop on our Vegas trip. The team apologized repeatedly once the mistake was realized, and the service improved after that, but the initial confusion did set things back. As for the food, I enjoyed the deviled eggs since the candied jalapeño was a fun touch. The firecracker shrimp had a nice flavor, although it was slightly overcooked and fell apart easily. The chicken sliders were extremely salty and hard to enjoy. I did not try the brisket, but I did hear from others that it was good. We were also given a watermelon lemonade with a slice of fresh watermelon, which was both visually cool and pretty tasty. Overall, I think this could be a great spot for a future visit or for a different group, especially for those who can enjoy the brisket. The space itself is beautifully decorated and has a great feel to it.

It's been a few years since I've been to Mama Bird since moving out of the area and my return visit did not disappoint. Agata was our server and she provided warm hospitality during our visit. We started off with watermelon lemonades and the spicy fried green beans appetizer. The green beans were so tasty and the cool dill ranch paired perfectly with the spicy crunchy texture of the batter. For one of our entrees, we ordered a pitmaster scramble that was loaded with smoked brisket and pork belly. We also ordered chicken strips with their house comeback sauce and their version of buffalo sauce that was sweet and spicy. I prefer dark meat so I went with the breaded chicken thigh plate with the north and south fries which is a mix of crinkle and sweet potato fries. We selected everything biscuits with our entrees but it was a tough choice between that and the jalapeño cornbread. Mama Bird has expanded since the last time I've been in. They now have a full bar and serve liquor and offer a happy hour with some great food specials. Agata topped off our wonderful meal with her amazing service. We'll be back.

Ending our Vegas trip by stopping by Mama Bird which had great reviews. The interior looked fantastic, the overall vibe just seemed great! We were waiting for 25 minutes just to talk to our waiter. I've also noticed her standing and talking to the people working at the bar and yet nothing. We had to call for a second time to a different employee just to get noticed by our waitress. She came over and apologized and said we could have a free alcoholic drink but we declined due to a 6 hour drive ahead of us. She instead gave us a free pair of deviled eggs and a strawberry watermelon lemonade instead. For food, we ordered the chicken sliders, firecracker shrimp, pair of deviled eggs, and the brisket grilled cheese. I would say the deviled eggs and brisket grilled cheese were worth to order. The others didn't really stand out in terms of flavor and presentation. Overall, the experience was 3/5.

    Watermelon Lemonade and ginger beer

Let's get straight to the point. I started off with their ginger beer and it was delicious. Hubby got the watermelon lemonade, it was refreshing and tart. I was indecisive about trying their shrimp and grits or the fried chicken, so I got both. The chicken was good but the bottom of it was very soggy and had a bit of a strong smell. Giving it a 7/10. The shrimp and grits were very tasty, could have used a bit more flavor and butter but overall 8/10. Also the Mac and cheese was my favorite and our server was amazing, wish I remembered her name.

How busy are they on weekends?

What kind of oil is used for deep frying the chicken? (I only ask because I get upset stomach with certain oils like soy bean oil). Thank you!

Hello Erik, Unfortunately, we do use soy bean oil to fry our chicken.

Is the other location (near Summerlin) now closed?

Unfortunately, yes that location is now closed.

Are reservations recommended for a weekend dinner?

generally reservations are always a good idea - but normally they are not needed -

What's the difference between north and south fries?

North fries= crinkle fries, just regular fries South fries = sweet potato fries

When are you opening the southwest location?

I asked last time I was at the restaurant and was told aug/sept for the opening of the sw location. Right now it's still completely gutted inside there. So it's not open at all.

    Is there Apple Pay?

We do not accept Apple Pay/Samsung Pay at this time.

Which is the north fried and which is the south fries?

North fries are crinkle cut potato fries. South fries or sweet potato fries.

Can you get fried chicken and barbecue items all day or are there 'lunch' hours?

    Full menu available all day.

Any plans to serve hush puppies?

    This would be amazing!

    Are you open for Thanksgiving?

No. We are closed to spend time with our families.

    Are there Vegetarian options?

Just go to there website and check out there menu.

    Any vegan options?

I did not see any vegan options on the menu when I went .

Don't be put off by the looks of the location. The site is in a kind of rundown strip mall-ish center with plenty of parking. Inside you order at the counter and food is brought to your table. Even with a line, service is friendly and wait times are pretty minimal. Their menu has a little of everything from beef ribs, brisket and sausage links to okra, corn nuggets and slaw. Seating is first come first serve and they have e quite a large dining area with plenty of tables with bench seats. Next to the soda machine are an abundance of different sauces that will appeal to even the pickiest of bbq eaters. For lunch we chose the 3 meat trio. We chose sliced brisket (it comes chopped if you don't specify) 1/4 dark meat chicken and hot links. For the included side, we chose the dirty rice. We added an extra 1/4 dark meat chicken and a side of cheesy mac and cheese. Wife and I split the brisket and hot links and we will usually have leftovers as they are generous with their portions. All the barbecue has rich and Smokey flavor. The brisket was tender and had a hive visible smoke ring around the edge. The links have nice heat that is not overpowering. The dark meat chicken is also tender and juicy. When you peel the skin back the meat underneath is glistening. Both the rice and macaroni complimented our protein selections. If I have one knock, the sides were merely warm and not hot. I think this as due to the volume of people there for lunch today. For sauce I chose their original and sweet mama varieties. They are very tasty and full of southern bbq influence. All-in-all, this is a great BBQ spot and centrally located for visitors to the Strip.

But the breading is nowhere close to real Southern fried chicken. It's heavy, OVERLY greasy, and misses the mark completely. The ranch tasted bottled, the sweet tea wasn't fresh (straight dispenser vibes), and the peach cobbler had zero flavor only saved by the vanilla ice cream. It smells amazing walking up, but don't fall for it. $31 for a greasy, underwhelming meal with attitude on the side? Hard pass. I ordered the chicken fried steak which came with mashed potatoes and greens. My husband ordered the catfish dinner which came with hush puppies, grits and greens. The food arrived pretty quick and was hot. My chicken fried steak was just ok. The mashed potatoes were good and the greens were the worst I've had. It was like a pound of sugar in them. Caught me off guard. It was so sweet that it was inedible. My husband's fried catfish was prepared perfectly! (We asked for it to be fried hard) It was hot, fresh and well seasoned! The hush puppies were a bit dry and taste like they roll it in the same fish fry as the catfish as it had a slight fishy taste but the grits were amazing! It had a white gravy/sauce on top of it and it was just soo good! I had wished I ordered his plate even tho we swapped a few forkfuls. One thing I noticed was the menu had changed. Based on other yelp posts, there were items that I had in mind I wanted to try when I got there like the egg rolls. The menu is vastly downsized from when they first opened which was a bummer. Usually when a restaurant downsizes their menu by that much, it's usually a sign it won't be open much longer. So go while you can if it's a place you've been wanting to try. We paid almost $80 for 2 dinners (not including tip). We did not get drinks since we had been drinking earlier. The price wasn't too bad for a sit down restaurant inside a Vegas casino.

Service was solid too, everybody attentive without doing too much. Drinks: I got the drink flight and I gotta keep it real... this was my only real complaint. Out of the four drinks, only ONE was good. I don't remember all the names, but the golden one with Jack Honey was cool. The other three? Easy passes. For $42, that ain't it. 3/10 Appetizers: Now let's talk food. The biscuits are CRAZY. Soft, buttery, fresh, and that pepper jam takes it to another level. They even put the jam in the hush puppies which is a power move. 10/10 The crab cakes were fire too. All flavor, real crab meat, no filler nonsense. Definitely something I'd order again. 9/10 Main Plate: I ordered the fried fish with Brussels sprouts and mac & cheese. The fish was top tier. Fried perfect, seasoned right, crispy but not greasy. 8/10 The Brussels were mixed with sweet potatoes, good balance, good flavor, just nothing that made me lose my mind. 7/10 The mac & cheese wasn't for me. Thick cheese sauce but no real flavor behind it. Just kinda there. 4/10 Overall: All in all, it was a good experience. Great service, good food, and a solid atmosphere. Even with a couple misses, I'd still come back and try more off the menu. Nellie's definitely worth checking out.

Lola's A Louisiana Kitchen - Good Food, Just Watch the Add-Ons…read more We ordered the Roman trio and jambalaya, and overall the food was flavorful and enjoyable. The service was friendly, and the Louisiana-inspired decor is cute and adds to the charm of the place. One thing to be mindful of: when ordering, our waitress casually suggested or repeated add-ons in a way that could easily be mistaken as part of the original order. For example, we ordered the traditional jambalaya, which also has a "loaded" option for an extra $10. We clearly wanted the original, but she repeated it as "loaded." Thankfully, my husband caught it and corrected her before it went through. Later, we noticed another table was upcharged for potatoes without realizing they were an add-on. So just a heads-up--be very clear when ordering and double-check what's included versus extra to avoid surprises on the bill. Overall, the food and atmosphere are solid--just make sure to pay close attention when placing your order.
