Honestly, this place would do really well with some top-notch PR and all the visitors that fly in from the Philippines would love it! I haven't been here for a while, and my family and I had a great dinner here this evening. Firstly, if you see Lumpia on the menu, one must order Lumpia and eat it! Such a delicious start to our meals. Our kiddos had grilled cheese and fries with the sweet bread, like Hawaiian roll. My husband had pulled pork quesadillas and I had chicken adobo. Everything was delicious! The surroundings here are very open and clean. We saw a small stage up front, they must have performances and we would love to see this too. First, I will say the ambiance isn't too bad. The lighted tree in the middle is cute, TVs around (it was football Sunday and two of the big screens on the stage weren't even on, and the two that were on were blocked by the dj, and of all the other screens, the same game was showing on multiple TVs when there were other games on, so that was an odd choice), music. There wasn't just one thing that makes me give 2 stars, not a series of things that are up to annoyances. For the food, my wife said the adobo chicken and rice was really good. I had the pulled pork sandwich and didn't like it. The meat was just like a mush of mashed potatoes and there was hardly any sauce (I had to ask for more). I usually get pulled pork at BBQ places, and I just didn't care for this at all. The BBQ was good, so I had to slather the sandwich with it to add a pleasant flavor. Now, the service... When we first walked in and stood by the way to be seated sign, the guy came over wearing a mask and just mumbled something and we couldn't hear what he said and we had to ask him to repeat it two more times before we understood that he told us to just go find her own table. Then, when the food arrived, they brought up by showing up right on top of my wife's shoulder next to the little tree, coming close to knocking over and drinks, when they had a whole open side of the table they could have walked over to to place the food down. Then I had to wait 3 or 4 more minutes before my food showed up, and as a joke, my wife tried to creep over more to the side to block the spot where the guy just went over her shoulder to put the food down so that he couldn't do it again, but they did it again anyway to hand me my food across from her in the smallest space possible to put the food down. It was quite awkward and uncomfortable for them to place our food practically over you and invade your space. Then there was the DJ. Yes, DJ. The guys standing in the front blocking two of the TVs showing football is certainly an interesting choice, especially wearing sunglasses inside. Hell I won't necessarily say I was opposed to music he was playing, the choices were very interesting from like slow Phil Collins songs to weird remixes of fast obscure r&b songs... It is someone with a music background and having done some DJ and mixing work, it's just a personal peeve of mine when these DJs can't even beat-match properly. So honestly I probably wouldn't never go back to this place just because the food alone because there's too many good options here in the city, and maybe even based it just on the issue of the way they serve the food and kind of invaded my wife's space when they put the plates down, but just the combination of things together was just making it kind of a weird experience. read more

Then brought a red, when we ordered a Sauvignon Blanc...... My water glass sat empty for 30+ minutes. The service team seems to be just unaware of working together, to be more efficient. The kitchen staff came out to assist the 3 servers, for 7 tables. The temperature of the dinning room was at least 85 degrees. Sweltering conditions for a meal. The only swift element of the evening was when they dropped the check. LV is not the place for restaurants to survive with average food and horrible service. What a cool little place for breakfast. This had popped up in my feed several times and I thought today is the perfect day to go check this place out fix! It was only about 5 mi from my house, so it was a no-brainer. Easy to locate you can't miss the big sign. And they have ample parking which is really really nice. Upon entering the space, it is warm and inviting, a perfect place for breakfast. Breakfast. Our server came up to the table. Got us Waters and coffees, and everything was good to go while we peruse the menu. I ordered the rib tips and eggs, my girlfriend ordered the shrimp and grits. Quickly which was nice. The one thing we didn't find out was with the shrimp and grits. You definitely want to mix everything together, so that all of the seasoned components season the rest of the dish. The rib tips were really good. Definitely charred which I like, and the eggs were cooked perfectly and the hash browns were seasoned to perfection. Overall, this was a great experience and I will definitely be going again! If you happen to live in Las Vegas area and are looking for a cool place to try, this is definitely one to check out. We stopped in for breakfast before our drive back to LA and I was impressed on how spacious the layout is, complete with a dedicated bar and a stage for live entertainment. Making a reservation online was super easy and efficient, which I appreciated! When I arrived, the exterior looks like this would be some chain restaurant, with a larger than life staff & facility. But once I entered and got familiar with the restaurant, it's very much more like a small family owned restaurant. The type where the owners & family members are working both in the kitchen and the front of house. There was a live DJ on my visit, that had nice tunes the whole time I was there. He even lowered the music when my group and I prayed over the food, which I thought was an extra special cool touch! Thanks for that mister DJ! Apparently they have karaoke nights too. There were three staff working the front of house. A lady that was at the register most of the time, who seems the most knowledgeable and had amazing hospitality! - a young gentleman that was tall, pair pulled back. He was very hospitable and helpful. I think he was one of the main servers. - and an even younger guy, likely a busser or back waiter. He was not friendly at all! He was actually quite rude and aggressive. (Maybe he was having a bad day) Although we had a large group, they were pretty efficient and effective at getting our orders and helping us through the process. Unfortunately, since it's a large group, our food came out at very different times. There was probably a 10 min gap between the first dish that came out to the last dish that came out. Which, towards the end, left half our table done eating while the other half was still going. The restaurant serves a very wide range of food: Breakfast, BBQ, American, Filipino We pretty much tried all genres in our group, and we had mixed reviews, but most of it was positive! I think some of the reviews on the breakfast items were average. But the Filipino food was amazing! Especially mine. I had the Sinigang and it was delicious!! I noticed a few other people around the restaurant ordering it too. I see why! Lots of flavor. Restrooms needed some attention and sprucing up. Overall, great place to try. Then they have Southern flavors like shrimp and bacon grits. A DJ played Christmas songs from a small platform. One standout feature was the service. When we went there was a busy Sunday brunch in attendance. Maryann was the sole person working the tables and the register. Came here on a weekday at about 4pm, so definitely past lunch and before any dinner crowds - it was only us and one other dining group there. Server was very friendly and kind and helped make some recommendations for food. I'm Filipino and was craving some homestyle cooking, so I got the adobo. My daughter got the spamsilog, and my husband got catfish, ribs, collard greens, and Mac and cheese. The adobo was ok, it seemed like it had been simmering all day by how salty and emulsified the oils were with the sauce. The serving was interesting, it was a bowl of adobo and then a super small cup with the rice... maybe it's just my family and I but I'm used to rice being on a bigger plate so that I can add sauce and chicken to it, not the other way around, so here I had to add the rice to the adobo sauce, and it just felt imbalanced. The chicken itself was tender. No complaints from the Spam plate: spam was fried well, scrambled eggs cooked thoroughly, and the garlic rice was delicious. My husband said his catfish was good, but suspected it was frozen. The ribs were tough, and the sauce was ok. Overall an ok meal, not terrific, but nothing super stand out. We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was relatively busy. There were a few empty tables that had yet to be cleaned, but we noticed a few groups that still had not ordered yet. There was one couple before me and then my party. I took a seat and waited as a few staff members walked by and didn't say anything. I was wondering if I was going to get any acknowledgment, when someone finally said they are going to clean a table for us. We looked over the extensive menu and was ready to order and just waited. We did notice that a large group got their order in right before us, so we were anticipating a bit of a wait. The Husband's Country Fried Steak $16.99 arrived first, 15 minutes after we put our order in. He did ask for over easy eggs, but he got sunny side up ones. He also asked for extra crispy hash browns and didn't get that either. He couldn't be bothered letting them know as it would only delay his order. He did want condiments like ketchup and hot sauce, and we had to flag someone down to get those things. Next to arrive was mine - Shrimp and Bacon Grits $17.99. It was good, but the grits were not hot enough as you can tell the cheese did not melt. I would guess they plated the grits first and it sat while my eggs and shrimp were being cooked. Once that was plated on top of the grits, the cheese was added. The cheese melted nicely on my eggs, but not on the grits part. Next was the Little Gal's Kids Hawaiian Grilled Cheese $9.99. It looked like an amateur grilled cheese sandwich. There was nothing special about it. She ate it because she was starving. Last to arrive was the Little Guy's 1/2 Bangus Silog $16.99. This arrived about 15 minutes after the Husband received his order, which meant he was pretty much done by the time my son got his food. A staff member did come by after I got my order to say the other orders were coming shortly, but it still took a little while. We expected the wait because of the larger party before us, but didn't expect the food to be brought out with such a huge gap. If this was the case where we waited for everyone to get their food before we all ate, there would have been a bunch of cold dishes sitting around. I noticed this was also the case with other tables too. Service was okay. There were about three servers handling takeout orders, delivering food and taking table orders and one busboy. Sometimes there was no one on the floor though, so you definitely wondered where everyone went. I went to use the restroom and expected that the bill would be paid while I was gone. But when I returned, the Husband said he was still waiting for someone to come by. Would we go back? Probably not. Had the fried salmon (yes, Lord I said FRIED) & it was wonderful. Crunchy corn meal exterior that tastes like salmon on the inside. If they had baked Mac N Cheese they'd have to Kobe this place to West Tennessee. We can just before 3pm & there was only one employee but she did a good job. Waitress just threw menus on the table lol. She was nice though. We mentioned our food allergy and she even had it on the receipt. So appreciate that! I ordered Crispy Fried Catfish & Waffles. It was Made to order. The catfish was still hot and crispy on the outside with the inside tender. I didn't even need a knife. It was so easy to cut the fish with just a fork. Same for the waffles. He was very social with the table to my left, like he knew them. The table to my right stayed dirty for far too long. My husband told him the men's room needed paper towels which caused Lyndon to start cursing under his breath. Rather than introduce himself or provide ANY niceties, he walked up to our table and said, "What do you want"? I actually pulled the other server to ask what the guy's problem was. Our food order consists of Spamsilog with pancake and garlic fried rice, Bangus Silog w/pancake and garlic fried rice, Crispy Fish & Waffles, Rib Tip & Chicken Wings w/basement rice and corn on the cob, Sweet & Sour fish fillet Asian style and for dessert we ordered the Turon w/Ube ice cream. All the specialty dishes we ordered were fire. So good! Their garlic fried rice wasn't salty and the rice was cooked just right. The bangus wasn't over fried. Rib tip was flavorful and tender. Fish fillet Asian style was on point. The sauce was great pairing with the crispy fillets. The 5 pieces Turon with Ube ice cream was icing on the cake. The Turon was filled with banana and jackfruit. The girlfriend and I decided to try a new breakfast place and this is where we ended up. At first glance, the inside is a bit confusing the decorations were sort of all over the place, but still had good vibes. I really wanted to love Mountain West Eatery. The space is super clean and modern, and the aesthetic definitely gives a nice, updated vibe. It feels like a place you'd want to sit down and enjoy a good brunch. That said, the experience didn't quite live up to the setting. The wait for the food was pretty long, which I can usually overlook if everything else hits the mark. Unfortunately, it didn't this time. I came in specifically craving a traditional Filipino breakfast -- bangus (milkfish), garlic rice, and egg. Instead, what came out was fried tilapia with hash browns and bread. Being that this is a Filipino restaurant, I feel like the waiter could have been a bit more forthcoming and confirmed whether that was actually what I meant to order. To me, that kind of attention is what separates mediocre service from best-in-class service. When I asked about it, the response I received was a bit dismissive and came across as though I had simply ordered the wrong thing. I ended up having to order garlic rice separately because my two kids were also hoping for a more traditional Filipino breakfast plate. As for the food itself, it was okay -- but honestly a bit mid for the price point. Compared to spots like D'Pinoy Joint and Cucina Lorraine, the prices here feel extremely high for what you get. This was actually my second time giving the place a try, hoping maybe the first visit was just an off day. Overall though, while the restaurant looks great, the food and service didn't quite match the expectations. If you're looking for a modern space to grab a meal, it might work for you -- but if you're craving authentic Filipino breakfast flavors, there are better options around town. read more
