If you're looking for the best restaurant on the west side, you can stop looking. I found it. Congrats Chef Jamie on her James Beard nomination. My favorite thing is that Chef is hands on in her restaurant. Filling water and bussing tables. She's humble and talented at the same time which is hard to find. I came to Black sheep when they first opened many years ago and was impressed. I came back last night and was blown away. The menu keeps the old favorites but it's constantly evolving and adding new dishes. You'll never get bored here. My surprise favorite was the pear salad. The layering of flavors in that dish were so unexpected and so well thought out. If I lived on the west side I would come here daily to sit at the bar, have a glass of Vhino Verde and that salad. Literally everything else is stellar too. I was able to try most of the menu including specials and was blown away.

Jamie Tran is still making really yummy food! Its been a minute since we have been here and decided to stop in for dinner. We were greeted and led to our table by friendly hostess. Inside was still beautiful and had some cool old school hip hop playing. I loved the vibe. We had the pear salad. Still outstanding. This is a must get. You don't regret it. Another standout was the spareribs. Wow! Incredible flavor. Salmon skin tacos are always a hit. Crispy salmon skin shells filled with spicy tuna. Pork bao buns juicy and filling. Beef tartare was pretty good. I think we were full by then. Our waiter was amazing. Very attentive. We loved the cocktails/mocktails we ordered. I appreciate when restaurants have mocktails available. Definitely missed having the octopus on the menu as that was our favorite. We will definitely be back.

My friend wanted to try this restaurant out because she loves Top Chef. This is a great spot off-the-strip with plenty of parking, a quiet, intimate atmosphere, and warm lighting that makes it perfect for date night or a relaxed evening out. It feels refined without being stuffy. You can dress casually and still enjoy elevated food and service. The menu features creative, Asian-inspired dishes and appears to change seasonally, which we loved. We started with the salmon skin tacos, which were exciting to try because they're such a unique menu item. The crispy salmon skin works as the taco shell and pairs nicely with the tender salmon tartare. There's great texture and balance, though it wasn't our favorite and we felt like it could've used just a touch of salt. Still, I'm glad we tried it. We also tried the chicken dumplings and Japanese pancake. We honestly couldn't choose a favorite between these two starters. The dumplings were served in a flavorful sauce, with crispy chicken skin pieces that added an amazing texture. The Japanese pancake was the best savory pancake I've had. We debated ordering a second, but didn't want to get too full before our entrées. We both ordered the braised pork jowl. I don't eat pork often (or meat in general), but this was done right. The meat was incredibly tender...no knife needed, and not overly fatty. The noodles are made fresh in-house, and the broth was rich, deep, and layered with flavor. The bitterness of the greens balanced the richness perfectly. It was comforting without feeling heavy, and was even better the next day as leftovers. I could've drank the broth on its own. Service was professional and attentive throughout the meal. For dessert, I had the maple bacon ice cream (also made in-house). The maple base was sweet and creamy with perfectly salty chunks of bacon. It was a total flavor bomb. One scoop was perfect, and if this were sold in ice cream shops, I'd buy it regularly. Overall, we really enjoyed the thoughtful, well-executed dishes. Everything was tasty and served beautifully.

Sitting in a West Las Vegas strip mall, The Black Sheep is a unique American-Vietnamese spot with great and vibrant, layered flavors and thoughtful presentation. The menu is creative without being common, blending Asian influences with contemporary American technique in a cozy, modern setting. Standout dishes include the Oxtail Empanadas, rich and tender with bright chimichurri; the Steak Tartare with Asian pear and pickled chili; and the addictive Fried Beef Crisps with Thai chili tajin. For mains, the Braised Pork Jowl is deeply flavorful, while the Vegan Vietnamese Glass Noodles prove just as satisfying for plant-forward diners. Steak lovers will appreciate the grass-fed ribeye or flat iron, elevated by inventive sides. Overall, The Black Sheep delivers a memorable off-Strip dining experience that's well worth the drive -- perfect for adventurous eaters and date nights alike.

Great dishes full of flavors! My favorites were the salmon skin taco, braised short ribs were so tender fall off the bone, lettuce wraps were refreshing! I really liked the rainbow trout too, crispy. Enjoyed the cheesecake desert and the smoky old fashioned with bacon! Server was super friendly and a fun atmosphere inside.

Great ambiance, great service. Location is not the most ideal (for a tourist like myself), with it being a bit aways from the strip. But the food was good. Cocktails meh. Highlight: oxtail empanada, yum! The dumplings were pretty delish too. And the noodles in the braised pork jowl had great flavoring. Salmon skin tacos were mid. Short rib with kimchi fried rice was ok (not bad, but I've had better). Rainbow trout was impressively presented -- a good option if you're a big fan of fish.

We've ordered several dishes to create our own tasting menu and the top chef kept us interested. Salmon skin tacos: these were delectable and are a must get! The salmon melted in my mouth and the crispy salmon skin gave a texture contrast that kept me engaged. The creamy herbaceous sauce just tied this perfect dish, 5/5 stars! Fried beef crisps: another must get and better than pork rinds / chicharones. These are light but crispy and had a savory beef flavor that was seasoned with a hint of lime, 5/5 stars! Special menu item - hot chicken karaage on honey toast: the chicken had a nice crispy exterior while keeping the interior juicy. However, the sauce was a bit confusing, as there was no flavor that stood out. Thus, this dish was lost and the toast was basic, 2/5 stars. Charcuterie board: nothing stood out as it was a typical item you'd get at any wine bar, 3.5/5 stars. Spring rolls: these were fried to a crisp, were savory, and easy to finish, 4/5 stars. Shrimp chips and bao sliders: the shrimp chips were thick and flavorful while the bao had too much dough; however, the tuna delivered, 3.5/5 stars. Tres Leches "chocolates" cake: this was a deconstructed cake that just brought different flavors at each bite. The white chocolate for me was the best due to it's smooth sweetness, 4.5/5 stars! Rocky road: this was a sophisticated version as it was creamy and high-quality, 4.5/5 stars. The service was reserved but considerate and the food was prepared rather quickly. Next time, we will sample the entrées.

Excellent service. Enjoyed the vibes with the music. Plenty of parking in the lot. Some nice selections on the wine list. The food was very flavorful and had nice presentation.

I had heard so many great things about this restaurant, but unfortunately, my experience was underwhelming . The biggest disappointment was our server. He seemed disinterested from the start, almost bothered to be doing his job. There was no warm welcome, no effort to make the experience enjoyable nor memorable. What made it more noticeable was hearing the server at the table next to us ask them if it was their first time dining there or if they were celebrating anything special. Mean while, our server gave off the vibe that we weren't ordering "enough" when we just wanted to start with one appetizer. Now, onto the food. The Japanese pancake was the highlight of the night, absolutely delicious! It may look small, but it is filling, and easily a 10/10. For my entrée, I had the rainbow trout, and wow the sauce was incredible, and the spinach on the side was equally flavorful. My husband ordered the slow-braised short rib, which was hit-or-miss. Some bites were juicy and tender, while others had odd flavors. It's paired with kimchi rice topped with an underwhelming fried egg, and overall the dish just felt heavy. By the end of the meal, neither of us felt great. Between the underwhelming service and the overall vibe, we left disappointed and likely won't be back, despite a couple of standout dishes.

I have often noticed this tucked away restaurant as I got my BWW fix and decided the time was right to taste some more refined cuisine. My wife and I made reservations online for 6:15 and were promptly seated near the back of the small dining area. Our server was quick to greet us and offer us a beverage (sadly, no iced tea). We had a difficult time decided what to sample on this maiden voyage so we ended up foregoing the entrees and instead eating 4 different starters. All of them were delicious! First, and favorite, were the 2 salmon skin tacos. A perfect blend of savory and spice left us wanting more. The charcuterie board came with creatively sliced bread, a variety of cheeses, grapes, strawberries, cashews, pickles, chicken patté, prosciutto, salami, and bone marrow butter. I was able to add dijon mustard as well. Oxtail empanadas (2) which came with a pickled salad and tasted great. Lamb dumplings (4) which were the perfect combo of flavors. The Americano was also very good. The drip coffee was fine. We were tempted by the dessert options, cheesecake, tres leches cake, and ice cream, but decided to call it a night. $88 for the meal. Definitely would return!

The Black Sheep is a neighborhood Modern Vietnamese/American Restaurant by well seasoned chef Jamie Tran who worked under some of Las Vegas's finest chefs and also was a competitor on Bravo's TV Show Top Chef. The location of this restaurant is relatively close to The Durango. Inside are mostly traditional tables and there also is seating at the bar. The menu does change slightly every so often and they so far always offered a couple of specials. Usually the menu features a lot of fish and beef dishes and usually one vegan dish (plus others). Desserts are always amazing and are completely made in-house. We've been here a number of times and have always enjoyed every appetizer we've tried. I felt the need to bring them back up to 5 stars because the chef's signature boneless crispy rainbow trout was indeed crispy again. I've had this dish 6 times and 4 out of 6 times it arrived as it should. Desserts are always amazing and worth the calories. Maybe not 100% perfection at all times but a very good restaurant that we are lucky to have here.

Back in late 2023/early 2024, they truly had something special. But now in 2025? The experience has completely changed. You have people packed shoulder-to-shoulder in a small venue, charging $30 per person after clearly going over occupancy. It feels greedy, and it shows. Guests who paid for those tiny tables aren't even respected--people are still crowding and standing all around them. This is a lounge, not a nightclub. Stop treating it like one. Friendsgiving was the final straw: people sneaking in, getting way too rowdy, zero space to move, and overall just a miserable experience. They even had heaters blasting with over 100 bodies crammed together, making it uncomfortable and unsafe to get to the bathroom, the bar, or even the exit. Overall, Bel Aire is not the place you want to spend your time or money if they refuse to enforce occupancy rules or provide a comfortable space for guests to actually enjoy themselves. People go out to relax, drink, dance, and have a good time--not to be shoved into an overcrowded room so the business can maximize profit. At this point, Bel Aire is contributing to the exact problem Vegas nightlife is trying to move away from.
