After a long, hot day at work, I was not in the mood to cook, so I started browsing DoorDash and came across this place. Since it's fairly close to my house and had great reviews on both Yelp and DoorDash, I decided to give it a try. I ordered the Thai Egg Rolls, Cucumber Salad, Red Curry with Beef, House Fried Rice with Beef, and the Crab Fried Rice. The egg rolls were delicious, and the cucumber salad was fresh, flavorful, and very tasty. The crab fried rice was a little different from what I'm used to, but it still had great flavor. Personally, I prefer the crab mixed throughout the rice rather than served on top with an egg, but that's just a matter of preference. The red curry was rich and flavorful, but the spice level threw me off a bit. I ordered most of the dishes mild and honestly didn't taste much heat. That's not necessarily a bad thing, I just wasn't familiar with their spice scale. Next time I'll definitely order medium or hot. The house fried rice with beef was also very good, and the portion sizes were generous, especially for takeout. First off the customer service is fantastic! The gentleman was very nice and made sure our water cups were always full. We had the lunch shrimp pad thai, ground beef thai basil and papaya salad. Everything was fresh and tasted great. Next time I will order the dishes hotter because they start out as mild but there are hot sauces and crushed peppers on the table to make it hotter. I decided to try a different Thai spot on the way home from a play at UNLV. I found Praya on Yelp. It was great for me--easy off/on the 215. I let Apple's Car Play lead me to the restaurant near the corner of Sunset and Decatur. It's in a mall strip mall behind a service station. There was only one table with people eating when I arrived. It's quite a small place with just 8 (I think) tables--most 4 tops but some 2 tops. I sat in the corner and was brought their menu. I ordered a Thai iced coffee and pad kea mow with chicken, otherwise known as drunken noodles. I enjoyed the iced coffee while I waited. It was a short wait. Promptly, the server brought the noodles. This was a first for me. I generally get a curry when I'm at a Thai restaurant, but I decided to go with a noodle dish this time and I have seen drunken noodles on menus and wondered what it was like. You get a choice of meat which may give a different price for the dish. The restaurant has a lot of salmon dishes. I was not asked and I failed to ask if they had a hotness scale. I would imagine I got the gringo spice level. There was a small bit of tang, but had I asked, it would have been a higher amount. I really enjoyesd this meal. A new treat with noodles--something to try at my neighborhood spot especially for take out. For dessert, I had F.B.I.--fried banana with coconut ice cream. The banana pieces were small fried battered gems. What the acronym is, I couldn't say. It was drizzled with a very small amount of honey and was a quite delightful end to the meal. I was on my way home from a function and it was a little late for me to plan dinner so I decided on take out. I was craving thai and found this place. When I pulled up, I remember coming here a long long time and like it. I ordered the panang curry with tofu and chicken pad see eu. The lady packed me some chili pepper and the vinegar pepper to take home with me. The food smelled really good in my car and it was still pretty hot when I got home and unpacked it. My daughter and I shared the dinner and enjoyed every bite of it. She asked if we can go there and eat at the restaurant next time. This is a cute restaurant in a gas station parking lot, definitely a blink and miss it place. Which if you did, you'd absolutely be missing out. Inside is a small dining area, with many orders being takeout. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted and seated. Our waiter was very kind and attentive the entire visit. We didn't see lunch specials, so we just assumed that they didn't offer any. However, while pondering the menu we were brought side salads with a delicious Thai dressing. We placed our order and after a few minutes received an egg roll as well while we waited. Both the egg roll and salad were flavorful and a welcome surprise. Our entrees arrived steaming hot and full of flavor. We both ordered our go-to dishes, which we benchmark Thai restaurants against. Pad Prik Khing for me and Pad See Eew for my fiance. We agreed these were one of the best versions we've had in Vegas, and we've tried a lot of Thai restaurants here. Both dishes were packed with flavor and had the perfect amount of spice. We made sure to tell our waiter to pay compliments to the chef. My fiance enjoyed his so much that when he found himself on that side of town again the next day, he went back for lunch again! Everything tasted as good as it looks. Old setting. Small parking lot shared with a gas station and smaller shops. Inexpensive with dish items are under $13-$14 each. Good menu selections. The young man serving our table was attentive, organized, well trained, and friendly. 5/5 for his politeness and doing a great job. They absolutely deserve maximum tipping amount here if you get the same guy. Tom Yum soup with shrimp was excellent in flavors and taste. Not too spicy, but a bit sweeter than most places. Pineapple curry chicken with side rice was excellent. Pineapple chunks were generous and chicken meat was soft and tender with lots of curry sauce in it. Beef entree with beans and bell peppers wasn't too salty either and the beef was tender/easy to swallow. Dinner was absolutely worth it here. Lunch prices are much cheaper, but I really have a good feeling about this place now. Foods tasted great! We ordered the jackfruit with sticky rice for takeout. Smaller portion, but very good too. Server packed it neatly for us. In California, you can expect to pay over $18-$22 for good Thai entrees. This Las Vegas spot is delicious indeed. As soon as we sat down inside, server brought us water and fresh fruits: watermelon & orange slices (when was the last time a server ever brought fruits for you as starters at a Thai restaurant?). I like getting crying tiger steaks from thai restaurants to get my delicious protein in but it was very disappointing from Praya Thai. It was more like beef stir fry pieces, so the meat was tough and was definitely not really a steak. I did like that they give you a small complimentary fruit plate when you sit down, with some oranges and a slice of watermelon, a nice appetizer. But overall, I probably won't be back. read more

The Pad Thai with Pork was delicious -- the noodles were perfectly soft and chewy, though just a tad too sweet for my taste. The Pad See Ew with Pork had good flavor, but it was a bit heavy on the dark soy sauce, which made it slightly bitter. We usually order the spicy basil fried rice. This time it wasn't as spicy as last but it's still good. My wife and I like our food spicy. Decided to try their lad na as well. I felt like there wasn't enough noodles. Literally a small rice bowl of noodles BUT had a lot of protein and Chinese broccoli to compensate for it. Maybe that's how the dish was intended to be? The food was hot and fresh even though we were the third stop for our delivery guy. The prices were really good for the amount of food we received. I don't like leaving reviews after trying something 1 time unless it was like, life-changing. We've come here for lunch quite a few times, and every time it's so good! The staff is so nice and so friendly. One time, we were the only ones in the restaurant, and our waiter cheered every time one of our dishes came out lol. The spicy scale is 1-10, and I feel it's pretty accurate (we've gotten anywhere between 3-9). The price of the food is super fair, especially given the portions of their food. If you go during lunch time, they give you a salad and an egg roll, no matter what you order. It just feels homey and like they really want you to be there (which is unfortunately rare right now). Praya Thai is a nice place for good Thai food! You'll find them on Sunset and Decatur behind Arco gas station, next to Durango Taco Shop. Parking is limited. Inside is cozy and relaxing with just a few seating. Atmosphere is pretty laid back and the staff is welcoming. Menu offers a great selection of appetizers, soup, salad, curry, fried rice, stir-fried noodles, and chef special. They have lunch specials as well, which is available on weekday only from 11am to 3pm. I had Jasmine hot tea and a small plate of orange slice, it's a nice complimentary treat. The Pot Sticker ($6.95) is really good! You get a choice of deep-fried or steamed. I request for deep-fried and it was delivered hot and crispy served with a light dipping sauce, yum! My personal go-to is Papaya Salad ($10.95), it's tasty and refreshing! The chopped green papaya with green beans is nice and crunchy, it has tomatoes, peanuts, and carrots. This salad is usually tangy due to the lime juice and to balance the flavor, you can ask for a little sugar and request not too sweet. Crab Fried Rice ($14.95) with brown rice (+$2) is very filling and delicious! They give generous portion of crab meat with eggs, green onion, cilantro, and rice is plentiful. For dessert, I love Mango with Sticky Rice ($9.95), so good and yummy! I've had their Fried Bananas with coconut ice cream before and it's delightful! The noodles had the best chewy texture, and each bite was loaded with fresh green onions, peanuts, and tender chicken and shrimp. But the yellow curry? Game over. Creamy, rich, and aromatic with just the right level of heat that built up beautifully without ever overpowering the dish. The veggies were still vibrant and crisp, and the chicken was melt-in-your-mouth tender. I could've sipped the curry straight from the bowl (zero regrets). Legit Thai Spot That Mostly Passes My Test, and Still Earns 5 Stars Just wrapped up a visit to this Thai spot and I'm giving it a solid five stars, not just for the food, but the experience overall. For context, I was raised on grandmas home-cooked Thai food, and I've eaten at hundreds, if not thousands, of Thai restaurants over the years. So when I walk into this Thai place, I'm not just there to eat, I'm there to see if they measure up. Some people, not going to name names just don't know the difference, and rate it 5 stars because they just don't know any better. Here, the customer service was great. The team was attentive without hovering. Our server was new, and while there were a few minor slips, the senior waiter jumped in, helped out, and even apologized, which I appreciated. Nothing was a big deal, but the way they handled it stood out. Now, here's how I personally test Thai restaurants: First test, Thai iced tea. It's the easiest way to tell how serious a spot is about flavor. I check for: * Whether it's made from fresh-brewed tea leaves with half-and-half * And what kind of ice they use They missed the mark here. They used cube ice, which is usually a sign it's pre-mixed or boiled rather than freshly brewed. The problem with cube ice is that it doesn't dilute the sweetness over time like crushed ice does, which normally gives Thai iced tea that perfect balance as it sits. This one stayed overly sweet the whole time, not a dealbreaker, but worth noting. Second test, the dishes. I usually judge based on three staples: 1. Fried Rice 2. Lad Na 3.
