Inside Restaurant

We were given a big surprise. This little Italian restaurant was much better than I held out hopes for; I believe there may have been a first-generation Italian in the kitchen! The atmosphere and environment were dark and poor, but their sauces were tasty. The restaurant floor also dips towards the front window so that you won't be seated evenly. For our dinners, we had Clams and Shrimp Marinara with Fettuccini, salads, and Minestrone Soup. And, a Shrimp and Scallops in herbed butter. Both of these dishes were satisfying. The marinara sauce was nice and light. Their idea of fettuccine noodles is odd but prepared well overall. Most of the restaurants close on Thursday here, so when you find a little cafe that is open and tasty--be grateful. Our server was polite.

My husband and I stopped in for dinner and we were floored by how truly amazing the food was. We both attended culinary school and have worked in high end restaurants and also agree we've never made anything more delicious. We ordered two of the specials and the calamari. My husband even commented that he's never seen me finish a plate a raviolis before but they were delectable! We're only here for a few more days but we will definitely be back!

Chicken Bolognese...a favorite house special!

I absolutely love Mama Riso's's! We are here at least once a week. The owners could not be more accommodating, the service is excellent, and the food is outstanding. Authentic, amazing Italian specialties!

We walked in hoping for amazing homemade Italian food and we got exactly that. Going on a Monday in the summer meant it was quiet and not busy at all. Service was great and everyone was super pleasant. We got garlic bread with cheese as an appetizer and it was super delicious! The chicken parmesan and the manicotti was beyond expectations. The chicken seemed like they just got it from the back tonight as I ordered it. Portion sizes fit the price very well. And of course we had to get some homemade gelato for dessert! Nothing but the best all around and a great dinner location in Lake George. The only minor thing I will say is the table was very wobbly and unstable.

I booked a reservation for 10 and we were seated within 5 minutes. The service was excellent. Roxanne did a great job handling our party. The food was good and was prepared quickly, not a long wait at all. For Lake George, the food was good. Not great but very tasty and good portions too. Had the veal saltimbocca with escarole. Everyone else enjoyed their meals as well. I would consider again for an Italian dinner option. Give this establishment a try.

Reasonably priced, great food and service. I am so mad at myself for not stopping to try it earlier.

Food was pretty good. Went a little heavy on the salad dressing and salad was lame. Service was good; prices are average.

I'll admit that living near Trenton has made me a little spoiled when it comes to pizza, but even with that in mind, this was not great by any stretch of the national imagination. The main appeal was convenience. Giuseppe's was only a few steps from our hotel, and the idea of eating pizza on the balcony overlooking the lake at sunset sounded too good to pass up. The order was ready quickly, less than thirty minutes, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, despite asking for utensils and plates both on the phone and again in person, they forgot them entirely. A short walk back to the shop solved the problem, and to their credit, the staff handed them over without any fuss. The pizza itself was the kind of food that serves a purpose but not a memory. The crust was too thick and doughy, the sauce had very little character, and the cheese existed mostly to keep everything from falling apart. It was utility-grade food sold at premium tourist-town prices. We knew we were paying that tax going in, but even so, it felt steep for what we got. Still, it did the job. Our family had a meal, the sunset over the lake was beautiful, and we went from phone call to first bite in under forty minutes on a Saturday night. For that, I'll give some credit. But for the pizza itself, there's not much to recommend. Three stars for speed and convenience, not for flavor.

Vegetable Pizza was delicious, we opted for thin crust and it was really good. Delicious. Caesar salad also did not disappoint. Tina was superbly warm and it was a lovely experience to talk to her. It was still early for dinner, so it wasn't busy and we were seated right away. Definitely an old school Italian restaurant vibe. The menu is not overwhelming but has plenty of options for varied preferences. Believe it or not, two of my favorite things were the crusty, hot bread (which accompanied the dip that we ordered as an appetizer) and the pile of freshly grated Parmesan cheese on the table. I had the stuffed sole with a side of pasta. I chose penne with oil and garlic and a "just right" side portion was served in a small bowl. I added some of that Parmesan from the table and was a happy camper. The sole was flaky and tasty-not fishy....it reminded me of the stuffed sole we would get from our local fish store in NYC when I was a kid. Clams casino were a good appetizer....but it's not really my jam. I prefer just regular stuffed clams (which are not on the menu). The sausage and peppers: a very generous portion that got solid reviews. Lots of pasta and enough leftover for a couple of days. We shared a cannoli to finish the meal...next time I'll try the tiramisu. By the time we left, it was quite busy. Our server was a hoot; I hope she's there next time.

But I'm far and away from the NY-Jersey area at the moment. So based on using Yelp as my search engine, I found this humble joint. And the waitress was attentive and very approachable! Minutes before I left, it got packed! So much so, I feel bad for the waitress who served my food afterwards! The food? OMFG! Very simple and no BS! Their spaghetti & meatballs are to die for! The pasta has the perfect firm texture, mild marinara taste, and very fullfilling meatballs! Their white pizza does not stand out, it was more of a confort food above all else! It has that right amount of crunchiness yet not too oily either! This was my first time visiting Lake George, and Boyfriend had been talking about this restaurant for years, every time we brought up coming here one day. Was a bit worried seeing many other reviews mentioning this place was dirty, but although everything looked super old, it was clean. Some stuff is "good old" - like the decor, cool light fixtures, jukebox etc; other old things such as the AC units and outdated bathrooms, should be upgraded. Pizza was fine! Boyfriend had a pepperoni slice and raved about it... I'm just glad he was so happy :) I had a plain cheese pizza slice, it was fine - very good thin crust but not enough cheese for my taste. At $14 for two slices and two sprites this was the cheapest meal out we've had in a very long time too, lol.

Their hand-tossed pizzas are delicious. I always remember watching the chef kneading and tossing fresh dough from the front window, visiting here always takes me back. After enjoying the day at Oktoberfest we wanted to grab a slice of pizza before heading home. We were able to grab a table right away as most customers were taking their orders to go. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. The restaurant is a bit dated but I do like that they left the old CD juke boxes at the tables, once again, reminiscing about the old days. One downside is the restaurant and restrooms are not very clean. I'm sure there is a lot of people traffic here but they definitely need to improve in this area. We ordered the meat lovers ($27.43) with pepperoni only on one side. Our pie was out in about 20 minutes and was delicious. The large gets you 8 slices, we had four so it worked out to 2 slices each. The pizza was loaded with ingredients and the crust had just the right crispiness and chew. All-in-all, I had a great experience here and recommend them to anyone looking for a great slice of pizza in the Lake George area.

Ugh Good good, server ok…read more Arrived at 4:10, location is part of the breakfast buffet area of a low/mid range hotel. Bar area of hotel actually. Upon arrival doors open no one there. I spoke to hotel employee who told me the place was open, so I sat at one of about 8 tables with my two daughters. After a few minutes a server arrived with menus. We were optimistic. Ordered sampler platter of appetizers, chicken fingers and a pizza. Very specifically told server to put in order of all good at once and bring it out as it was ready. After 15 minutes we were informed that the pilot light for fryer wasn't on, apps were taking a bit longer. Fine. Pizza should be out soon. Shortly after another couple who came in and ordered after us got their pizza. I asked server about that and was informed that pizza hadn't gone into oven yet, they were waiting til appetizers were served. !!!! Had many words with server who acknowledged I said put in entire order at once, but she didn't do it (hello, Orchard Tavern, same thing). Why is this so hard? 45 minutes til any good arrived. As first customers of night arriving 10 minutes after opening. Good was good, pizza had nice crust. Beer taps not working (noted by someone else in another review weeks prior to my visit). I will give them one more try, due to Groupon type deal, hope for better.
