We've been here a few times for the pie, and always for takeout. Generally, we got the I love meat each time and a gluten free BYO with italian sausage and pineapple. The first time I had gotten a primo pesto, the second a nonna maria with artichoke hearts and eggplant added. All of the pizzas were solid. I liked how cheesy the pizzas are which is nice. The primo pesto actually didn't have the eggplant the first time so we swapped for spinach. The artichoke hearts worked well here too so we transferred it onto the nonna maria. The amount of veggies for the pizzas was awesome. The meat pizza was really hearty though not too salty or overbearing. We liked the gluten free since it was thin and crispy. We've tried playing around with some of the crust options to find something gluten full and similar but couldn't make a match. An easy option we can turn to in the area. We'll have to try some of the specials next time if they have them available.

As a pizza lover whose had A LOT of pizza, trying out new places along the way, family and friends may wonder where location one was after all these years .. It would be Mama J's. Back then it was called Capararas Pizza. My family and I had ordered pizza from the original owners who owned a movie shop across the street in Penngrove. Mama J's stands as a strong landmark for not only its pizza, but for the community of Penngrove. Personally, I don't think Penngrove could be Penngrove without it. I currently live in Santa Rosa, so I'm not as a common customer as I used to be, but whenever I'm in Penngrove/Petaluma you'll find me here on most occasions for my Friday Pizza Day. My current favorite: Buddy's Special, and I love to put their chopped and juicy sausage on a half of it. Incredible. The sourdough crust is delicious, crusty and chewy, softly sweet. If you're used to New York style slices, then you'll find this pizza a little heavy. It's a weighty pizza. They also offer a Cauliflower crust and gluten free crust! It's a pizza place that made me fall in love with pizza. I shy In telling you how many pizza's I've had. . .thank goodness for gym days. All in all, enjoy this gem in Penngrove. Grab to take home. Grab to take to Penngrove Park. Eat outside under the shade, peering out at the Penngrove shops around, or inside where there is a pizza-joint vibe setting. Order your favorite toppings whether simply a cheese pizza or something more, it'll taste uniquely Mama J's. Staff are wonderful and fun. You'll feel some of what Penngrove is about when you try it. You won't regret it. Tip: If you love pepperoni or pep and sausage- try it with Alfredo sauce next time. Game changer.

This pizzeria immediately became a favorite. The pizza was delicious and the atmosphere is cozy! The menu offered a diverse range of pizza options. I opted for their Joe's Specialty pizza, loaded with a generous assortment of toppings. The crust was not overly crisped and the heart of the pizza was savory. The amount of ingredients used were well- balanced. Each bite bursted with so much flavor. Not only was the food exceptional, but the ambiance was also charming. The cozy interior and dim lighting created a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for a casual dinner or a gathering with friends. The staff were attentive and friendly. The pricing was reasonable for the quality and quantity of food served. They deliver locally also. They have their own delivery vehicle. If you can go in person, It's worth it.

I ordered a Margherita pizza and garden salad. Pizza is very good! Nice variety of menu items and I'd love to go back and try something different next time I'm in town. Friendly service, too!

We came in here because of our fellow Yelp reviewers and looking for the best pizza in Petaluma and turned out it was in Penngrove! Jessica the owner was awesome, she greeted us enthusiastically and the menu was chalked full of choices. We ended up getting a XL combo pizza just as it came and an order of frickles which were the bomb!! Jessica refilled our drinks as we ate and checked on us to make sure everything was ok and even gave me a soda to go! Pizza was delicious and we had leftovers for the next day which heated up nicely and even tasted good cold! So glad we found this place! We will definitely be back when in town.

Great pizza, but a little pricey. Joe's combo is one of the best local pizzas around.

We hung outside with all the different vendors for a while, but we also went inside to stand in line for a tasty cold beer. I had so much fun, I want to go back, I met so many people. Thank You HenHouse for having this event last weekend.

HenHouse is a regional popular brewery, and the Petaluma location is right across the street from…read moreLagunitas so it's an easy visit. This ended up being one of my top brewery visits on my entire trip, because of the staff, other customers, and excellent quality beer. This is their barrel house; they had outdoor seating, lots of tables, bar seating, and a separate private event space. The merchandise area is a little alcove near the door. I sat at the bar and had a flight, there were so many favorite styles on tap that I tried to have a nice selection of different ones. Due to how the evening progressed I ended up trying almost every beer on tap that night. On my visit it was trivia night, so I jumped on a team and made some friends. We ended up winning first place, they insisted I take the gift card prize and even bought me a case of IPA on the way out! I also had a quesadilla, maybe the best ever, from the pop up tent outside that evening. Prices were excellent of everything for the quality! If you're a beer fan in Petaluma, this is arguably the best brewery in town!

The Grove - We tried everything on Happy Hour! Bang bang shrimp, Mac n Cheese, and beef skewers for the win

We tucked into The Grove (with reservations) on a rainy Friday for an early dinner. Despite having…read morethree menus - drinks, dinner, and happy hour - choosing what to order didn't feel overwhelming, and we quickly landed on the anchovy toast, beet salad, shrimp & grits, and mushroom risotto. Our server was incredibly friendly, and the entire room shared the same warm, easygoing vibe. The small, speakeasy themed space was already packed at 5 PM, so reservations seem like a must. Everything we ordered was well-prepared and delicious, but the standout dishes were the beet salad and the shrimp & grits. The beet salad had a perfect mix of textures; chopped pistachios, tender beets, and crunchy radishes over a pillowy ricotta. I finished the salad wishing there was more. The shrimp & grits featured a potlikker sauce that absolutely lived up to the hype; it made the dish. I wish the shrimp & grits were served in a bowl rather than a shallow dish. I found myself chasing the sauce and polenta around the plate, trying not to push it over the edge. That said, if it were in a bowl, I might have just drank the sauce, so perhaps this is the restaurant's way of preserving a bit of dignity for its guests. Next time, I'm hoping to visit when oyster po' boys and fried green tomatoes are on the menu.

The vibe is effortlessly chill, with whimsical decor--think antique lamps, an old record player, and lots of little details that make you want to look around. The whole place felt alive in the best way--buzzing with conversation, laughter, and people clearly having a great time. We didn't have a reservation, but lucked out with seats at the community table. Bonus: the other guests were super welcoming, which just added to the fun, communal feel. We hit happy hour, and wow--it's a good one. Tons of interesting bites and a solid drink lineup. I went with a whiskey sour, my friend had the ginger beer on draft (very refreshing), and we shared the prawns, Brussels sprouts, and creamy mac & cheese. Everything was seriously delicious. Shoutout to our server, Melanie--friendly, attentive, and totally on it, even with the place packed. A couple things to note: it does get loud, so maybe not your spot if you're after a quiet, intimate dinner. Also, the happy hour menu listed Brussels sprouts but didn't mention bacon--I'm vegetarian, so that was a bit of a surprise. (It is noted on the regular dinner menu, which I admittedly didn't check.) All in all, such a fun, lively spot. I'll definitely be back for more bites and cocktails.
