I started with the beet salad with grapefruit dressing and it was very yummy but could have had more beets and dressing... the rice balls with marinara sauce was perfect in texture and taste. The cauliflower was sweet and Spicy but not my fav because not much went into preparing or presentation. The chicken sandwich was the usual crispy and fries normal. I grew up in the Daytona area and although I don't get back there much anymore, this has got to be one of, if not the best, restaurants in the area now. We drove 20 miles because Mama Foo Foo featured Charred Octopus, my husband's favorite. We were very excited about our special dinner and made reservations to make sure we got in. Once we were given our menus, we immediately looked for the Charred Octopus, as it was shown on the online menu. When the waiter came, we asked why the Charred Octopus was not shown on the menu. He said, "We are taking that off the menu, but there may be a 5 or 6 left". He came back and said that there was no more Octopus. Disappointed, we asked for a couple of more minutes to decide on what else we would order. We decided on Mussels & Frites (which were great), Aranchini, Burrato, Fig & Sour Dough, and a large salad. It was a delightful and filling dinner. I went to the restroom and they had Octopusses on the wall. Their front door was a big Octopus Tentacle and they had a big portrait of a lady with Octopus hair. This was their whole theme, yet they didn't serve Octopus. We mentioned that if they weren't serving Octopus anymore, perhaps they should not have it on the online menu. The hostesses agreed. We were polite about it but felt we should mention it. Overall, it was a nice meal, a bit overpriced for the portions served, but tasty. Perhaps, Octopus shouldn't be everywhere when no Octopus is on the menu, and it was their signature dish. read more

Our friends ordered the salmon and Ziti. We started with the chicken satay and large salad. Both were very nice and just enough for all of us. We got our main course and the presentation for each was nice and very large. Everyone loved their dish. My wife said that her scampi was the best she ever had. My black cod was very tasty and filling. The fish was similar to black sea bass. Very tender. The service was fantastic. They kept the drinks coming and the table clear of used dishes. Everyone was very courteous and pleasant. The location is right on the water with the dock right outside. Nice looking at the big yachts. This is a really nice restaurant with great food. We did not get our drink for 30 minutes, waited 30 more minutes to get our appetizer, waited 30 more minutes for salad, waited 45 minutes to get dinner, (no water was served) waited 30 more minutes and our check was given to us BEFORE DESSERT. Waited 20 minutes for our server to bring us change and then put dessert in a box. We were table 503 server was Matia. You had a lot of people waiting for their reserved tables and could not get seated because your service was so slow. She was sweet, thoughtful, and was so concerned with making sure both our allergies (tree nuts and gluten) were attended for. If only the interior decorator could cook. Look, this was my second visit. The first time, they sat us outside in the dark and had no candles or solution to offer. This time, the food was the problem. Don't get me wrong, this place has a great vibe. The wood, the lights, the art... its all very cool. Also, the bar is very nice and I've never had a bad drink here. Unfortunately, the food is nothing special. Our night went sideways when we were seated in an awful spot (once again). This time we were at the four top closest to the door, on a 35 degree night. While we were attempting to tolerate the chill, we also had to endure people taking selfies with the Mama Foo Foo logo on the wall and speakers blaring in our ears. I know I know, this is a lounge... which maybe that is the problem. Be a lounge or be a great restaurant... you obviously can't handle being both. On to the meal. My wife and I had the short rib with risotto and carrots. My short rib was ok... a lackluster sauce and some fat as I would expect but decent. The short rib they gave my wife was extremely fatty, she only ate about 20% of it and the rest was inedible. I don't mind spending a decent amount for my meals but at $44 for the short rib was simply not worth it. Did I mention that my carrots were completely unseasoned? My father-in-law ordered the lamb chops and 2 of the 3 were fine... the third appeared to be from a very malnourished lamb. It was 1/2 the size of the other two. The kitchen did provide a replacement lamb chop but didn't seem very happy about the request. Oh, and the $50+ charcuterie board was blah. Honestly, I think it had cubed pepper jack on a $50+ charcuterie board. I could have thrown this thing together for $10. They must be making a nice margin on this. The best item on the board was the fig jam which they plopped out of a jar. Last note on the meal, our waitress was attentive and friendly. I've never had a problem with the staff. I'll be back to sit at the bar. Then I'll head down the road to a better restaurant for dinner. read more
