I was referred by my real estate agent to go to Mall Auto. I'm new to the area and needed my van serviced to ensure it was safe for a cross country road trip. Dante and his team are very honest, great customer service, and I highly recommend them. As a woman who knows very little about mechanics, I have been taken advantage of in the past. I would recommend this place to anyone. I drove to Savanah GA from Charlotte NC for a one day business trip and ended up breaking down a mile from their shop. I had it towed there and luckily I was within walking distance of where I needed to go the next day. After I finished my day I stopped in at Mall Auto repair and explained my situation to them. My husband had just gotten deployed and I had to get my truck looked at and fixed. My friend recommended this shop, after being taken advantage of by another shop. The problem was a quick fix and Sam got it done faster than I could imagine. The other shop had estimated that I would need my engine completely torn apart just to see what the problem was, $1500 problem. So, I took it to Mall Auto Repairs and to my surprise, it was just a simple job where the #5 spark plug had worked its way loose. New spark plug and truck is working much better and for a much much lower cost. I will always choose Mall Auto Repairs for my vehicle needs from now on. read more

I'd heard over the years from numerous people that this place was the place to go, but never had the opportunity. It was hard to get in years ago because they were that good. When I recently got quoted by another place for repairs(where I had been a loyal customer for over 30 years); I decided to get a quote from Mall Auto also on one of the issues and let them check out the other. I was called just minutes after I brought the car in and was asked why I thought I needed the work done because I didn't. Going there saved me hundreds. You cannot put a price on the service, reliability, and honesty of Sam and Mall Auto Repairs. They were recommended to us 5 years ago and we would never go anywhere else in Savannah. I would go out of my way to get to this place if I needed service. They always go the extra mile and we have always felt that we were getting straight and honest advice and service. I had the best experience at this place. The owner could've gouged me for fixing my car (it kept stalling), but instead he told me that he had heard GM covered this issue before with another customer of his and told me to go there first so that I might not have to pay for it. He also said that the oil gauge in my car was wrong and that I actually had no oil left in my car. He put 2 quarts in FOR FREE! He never charged me a dime for that entire visit. This past month the clutch went out in my car. I have a mini cooper and there are only a few shops in town that will even touch my car. I called mall auto and they took care of getting my car towed to the shop and told me it might take a few days to get to it. Completely up front and honest, I appreciated that because it didn't feel like anyone was trying give me some run around. I was told the next day they had to order the parts from the mini dealer and then they could get me fixed right up. I was quoted a price HALF of what the mini dealer was going to charge me and less than a week later I had my car back with a new clutch. When I picked it up, I was told to call with any problems and I was informed I had a warranty on the new clutch! Driving out of the lot, I noticed the blinker was having issues. I called to let them know and they told me to come on back and they fixed it at no charge. I feel really comfortable taking my car here and have been treated wonderfully by all the staff. It's not always easy to drop your vehicle off at the shop in with confidence. I was referred to Mall Auto and Sam, from a friend who also has had work done. I usually do the work myself but in this instance I didn't have the time. I wanted to know what was going on before they started any repairs. Sam called me personally after doing his inspection and explained the options compared to cost, confirmed which route I preferred to take and told me I could pick it up the same day. Very happy we went here, and we've found a good mechanic in town. Wife took my truck here because it was idling rough. What we noticed was that the guys were very fast, courteous and spoke to her both respectfully and in plain English. You know how you take your car in to some places and the mechanic sees you're a girl and immediately goes into the spiel about made up parts you've never heard of and snake oil, and suddenly there's an extra zero on the end of your repair bill, and your "minor" fix is now taking you a week? There was none of that here. My wife's not a mechanic but her father is a car salesman so she knows a little bit about them. The mechanics were able to tell her what was wrong with my truck in a way she could grasp without too much jargon. They even noticed another minor thing wrong with my truck and told her that I could get parts from any auto parts store for cheap to fix it myself if I wanted to. How nice was that of them? They also have a nice waiting room with a friendly dog that loves kids and getting petted for as long as you want to pet her. So she's happy, I'm happy, and we have a new mechanic. As a bonus, now we never have to go back to the dealership service department (and THEY KNOW WHO THEY ARE) that's run by accountants looking to squeeze every nickel out of their customers and then some. This is a great shop! After being frustrated with a former shop that always tried to up sell me, I did my research, checked Angieslist, and came across Mall Auto. I had them check out all the items that the other location told me that I needed repaired or (in their words) "I would be left stranded on the side of the road, let's hope you are in town when it happens". With a long trip ahead of me I wanted to get the items checked out - so I went to Mall Auto - and I needed 1 thing done - not caught by the other location! I had used this company for over 20 years to service my present Honda & my previous Honda. My ex-husband used them to service his vehicles as well. I could always trust what I was told by the previous manager. That no longer appears to be the case from my perspective. I was told that my auto needed the engine replaced. That did not sound at all plausible to me as I have taken excellent care of the auto & it only has 86,000 miles (1999 Honda Accord). ( I also get at least one of my 2 yearly oil changes performed by the dealer & they always let me know of anything that they find wrong with the car.) It was barely leaking oil when I left it on a Friday. They had just replaced a gasket a few weeks previously because it was leaking a small amount of oil. It was still leaking the same amount of oil after they replaced the gasket so I returned it. They told me on the next Monday when I returned it again for re-check, that it was leaking from another place & was non-repairable. I would have to replace the engine. I had only driven it 8 miles on Sunday & oil was pouring out of the engine & left a deli-platter size oil slick under the engine. (It was only leaking a quarter size amount when I left it with them to re-check on the Friday.) The mechanic at Mall Auto acted like I was being unreasonable that I wanted the auto re-checked. He just kept stating that the engine needed to be replaced. Needless to say, I obtained a second opinion from the dealer. After the mechanic at the dealer checked the auto, he determined that the gasket had been replaced using too much sealer (supposed to only be on 4 corners & the mechanic at Mall Auto had applied it all around the gasket which took him an hour to remove) & the gasket had also been cleanly cut into 2 pieces which was why oil was pouring out at the site of the cut gasket. It was obvious that the new gasket had been cut & not broken. I am not accusing anybody of anything, just stating the facts. I have the cut gasket in my possession. I would trust a Honda certified mechanic over just a repair shop mechanic as the Honda mechanic has training specific to that particular auto. The Honda mechanic (his professional opinion) stated that the work was performed incorrectly & that the gasket was damaged. He gave me the cut gasket & showed me where it correctly matched where the oil was pouring out of the engine. Also, it is obvious that the Honda mechanic was correct as the engine is no longer pouring out oil & I did not have to replace the engine as Mall Auto recommended. They could find nothing else wrong with the engine & stated that it was operating perfectly. This ended up costing me $500. Not sure yet if I will pursue legal action. Be warned! I personally would no longer trust that this repair shop will tell you what is actually wrong with your car or even to perform any repairs correctly. That is only my opinion. I am a woman, but I am not ignorant as to how auto engines work. I have also learned that if it does not sound right then it usually is not! It made no sense to me that my auto could have a very minor oil leak & 48 hrs after they re-checked the previously replaced gasket that it would be pouring oil! I had just had it checked by the dealer recently when it was at the dealer for an oil change & I was told that the auto was in excellent condition. (I only drive it 100 to 150 miles monthly). They could find nothing wrong with it, but a few minor oil leaks (first time in 19 years that I had ever had any oil leaks or any problems other than routine maintenance). The mechanic at the dealer actually asked me if I was interested in selling the auto because it is in such great condition. I have performed all routine maintenance on the auto as recommend since I purchased the auto new. I should have just let the dealer repair the oil leaks, but I had always used this shop with excellent results (but with the previous manager) & they were more cost effective than the dealer. I will never use this repair shop again to service my auto. I will only have the dealer work on my car in the future. It may cost more, but in my opinion you get what you pay for! read more
