I brought in my Jeep to get an alignment after installing a track bar and tie rod with new ball joints. I followed manufacturer instructions to a tee including torque spec. There is only one way to install this adjustable track bar. I cross referenced this with the 5 various YouTube videos of people installing this track bar on their Jeep. I get a call: "You installed your track bar? Well first of all it's installed upside down and backwards, and all the threads are ruined." The person was so incorrect I didn't even bother showing him the diagram of how it was installed correctly. I just came and got the keys and left. I re-referenced the manufacturer instructions and it is installed correctly. There is only one way for it to fit regardless. I just needed an alignment, but nope, they wouldn't do it. Go elsewhere. I originally called this shop to ask for a price quote because I wanted to compare with other places before deciding where to do my brake repair. They told me I had to bring my car in to get a quote, so I drove over. Once there, they took my key and told me it would take a couple of days to diagnose the issue. I emphasized very clearly that I only wanted to know the price and didn't want any service done without my approval. I'm not a native English speaker, so I even double-checked with them to make sure they wouldn't charge me before telling me the price. They said "okay." Then, they called me back and told me I needed to replace the entire brake system -- which would cost over $1,000. That's also the first time they mentioned the $155 diagnostic fee. I refused the repair immediately and asked to pick up my car. They still charged me the full $155. Later, I went to Mavis for a second opinion. They did a brake inspection for free, and told me my brakes are only 50% worn and do NOT need to be replaced. Worse still, the shop didn't even check the engine light, which I had asked about. They said that would be an additional $150. So what did I pay $155 for? Only a brake and underbody panel check -- and a sales pitch for an unnecessary repair? When I asked why they didn't mention the diagnostic fee up front, they claimed they told me -- but I'm 100% sure they didn't mention it when I dropped off the car. They only brought it up after they'd already done the inspection and tried to sell me an overpriced repair. At that point, I had no choice but to pay. Summary: * $155 charge for a basic inspection I didn't approve * No written quote given * No engine light check done * Second shop confirmed no repairs were needed * Poor communication, zero responsibility, and no apology This was not a "diagnostic scan." " Prides itself on keeping Classic and New Volkswagens on the road" I call and was told they don't work on something that old or Volkswagens. I too was referred to "Dixie Motors Inc" the first time it cost me $3500 plus to replace my valve cover gaskets and some other parts. Then when I got my vehicle back it still wasn't running right so I had to take it back of course it became something else costing me another 1500. Thinking I was getting great service and not knowing that what their "so called mechanics" were dong is not Nickle and Diming but taking real Dollars" from unsuspecting people by telling them lie after lie. They park your vehicle in an unsecure overflow parking lot and don't have any signs posted as to they are the owners, co-owners or renters of said parking lot so if your vehicle is left unsecure and your property get STOLEN they can hide their hands and Don't and Won't take any responsibility for anything being STOLEN from or off your vehicle while it was entrusted to them. THIS MAKES BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES FOR THEM in which I'm almost certain they don't care as long as no one is the wiser and all they get is your money. But I am here to advise any and all if you who plan on taking your vehicle to Dixie Motors of Savannah please take really good pictures of your vehicle inside, out and underneath before you turn it over to them because if you don't it'll be your word against theirs and I mean all of theirs. Had a dead battery and no ride, and AAA did not have a battery for my car, so I had Advanced Auto Parts deliver an Optima battery and called Dixie and asked if they could install a new battery while I waited. I had used them once before and they were OK. They said to bring my car in at 7AM the following morning and they would install the battery while I waited. I got up very early the next morning, jumped the car, and drove the 25 or so miles to Dixie, where they told me (i) most of their mechanics don't even get in until 7:30 and, (ii) I would have to leave the car all day. LOL. Wrong answer. I ran into an auto parts store on the way back home and bought the correct metric socket, then went home and installed it myself. It took all of five minutes. Dixie Motors is the best. We may be a little biased since we have been taking our vehicles to Dixie for years and received top notch high quality service and honest work at a fair price. No one likes when their vehicle has a problem, or needs a repair or maintenance, and of course vehicle trouble always seems to happen at the most inopportune time, but the folks at Dixie have always made everything as easy as possible. Their service to us has spanned many years and several different vehicles. They have always been the best. Honest, hard working, and providing quality service/repairs at a fair price. They've helped us with so many different vehicles over the years that it's not possible to list all the specifics , but they've always been top notch. I'm just writing this review bc we just had a vehicle in there today where they performed major service/maintenance work on a high milage 2012 Ford Edge Sport, and as expected they got the work done all in one day and the price was right. We really won't even consider taking our vehicles anywhere else. I hope Dixie Motors continues on and is around as long as I am. I hope they're still around for my kids for that matter. RECENT REVIEW! 2019. This place is lacking in communication skills. I was told I would have a free assessment. When I did bring it up, after coming back, that in my phone call they said it was done, they were charging me for something they hadn't called and asked me to do. Although it was a small price $15, that's still money to me. Not calling and going ahead no matter the cost is annoying. I went in aug '22 for a fuel pump, cost $1100, typical cost and they did a good job. The same fuel pump went out last week, 14.5 months later. they told me that the "warranty" was up at 12 months and 12,000 miles. I was at 17000 miles and over 12 months. but then was told, that even if I had been in the mileage and time period, I would still have had to pay for labor. Let's be clear, a fuel pump costs about $200 or less so your mostly paying for labor when it needs to be replaced. the original fuel pump in the car lasted 9 years and 185K miles. they gave me a $200 discount in labor but I was also told that if the fuel pump went out again in say 15 months, I"d have to pay full price again. He kind of shrugged, like these kind of things happen......and they didn't have to give me a discount at all, which he's right, they didn't. I do appreciate the discount but come on, it's fuel pump. this is not something that should be going out even every couple of years, clearly it's some kind of negligence on their part that it didn't even last two and not on my part, but I'm the one that is suffering the consequences here, not them! He also told me that he thinks because of COVID that parts probably weren't being produced with the quality that they should have.....also not my fault. I do appreciate paying $700 instead of another $1100 but bottom line, I shouldn't have had to replace it at all that soon. I'm not impressed and won't be going back, that's not stellar customer service or operating with integrity. read more

Mark is very rude. They tell you to bring the car in, yet they dont look at it for weeks. When they fix something it only lasts for a week before it breaks again, and they are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO overpriced! Never again, save your money and go somewhere else! read more

I have been using Dixie Motors since I moved to town 2+ years ago and they have always been fair, fast, up-front about all charges and have done great work. I have gotten some "second" estimates and Dixie has ALWAYS had better prices. When my Jeep was on it's last legs, they discouraged me from doing additional work and told me politely that I should probably start looking for another vehicle instead of continuing to spend money on this one. I recently moved to Savannah and most everything went quite smoothly ... until I parked my car in front of my new place and it died on the spot. I got a push from a bunch of guys across the street and dumped the clutch and she started up. At this point, I grabbed my phone and looked up the nearest mechanic on Yelp. Had it not been for the review, I never would have thought to try Dixie Motors. I'm fairly used to ignoring large auto shops like this one, with dozens of bays from which their team of mechanics can check out your car, and moving on to the smaller ones with just a couple mechanics. I've found, in the past, that too many mechanics spoil the ... oil I guess. Usually larger shops like this one make up for their size by either upselling items, gouging customers, doing shoddy work, or all three. Not so with Dixie Motors. I dropped my car off with Mark and took off to help unload our moving truck. We were still in the middle with the unload process when Mark called with his diagnosis: a bad battery, battery cable, and I could use a new serpentine belt but didn't absolutely need it right away. I gave him the go-ahead on all three and was called again a little while later and told I could come and pick my car up. Amazing. I just got here and I've found an honest car shop that doesn't look to pull the rug out from under me and they're FAST to boot. I'll definitely (knowing my car) be returning to Dixie Motors in the future. read more

I want to thank the professionals at Dixie for taking care of my 97 F150 right the 1st time I took it to them. I've been to other garages in the area and have always got the run around or the keep coming back and pay more and more every time treatment. My only and main regret is not going to them sooner. Turns out their prices or not more expensive than others. If I would of went to Dixie Motors sooner; I'd probly still have a running 2003 Kia and a 1999 S10 Blazer. Folks,if you have to keep going back to your mechanic over and over again than maybe you should try Dixie and see how it feels to be done right the 1st time . I've been using Dixie Motors for years, because my late grandfather swore by them for great service. I could agree until about a month ago. They greeted us nicely, and proceeded to fix a brake problem . $800. Several weeks later, her car shuddered, due to a dragging brake. Nope, those yo-yos put in the WRONG fluid, and now has screwed up the brakes until it is undriveable. Meineke on White Bluff said they had never seen such incompetence. read more

I was a long time customer of another car care place until they were bought out, making finding a new one necessary. Dixie was a referral from friends and colleagues. They have an excellent reputation..."They are the best." Just be there when you say you will pick up your car bc they don't always adhere to hours of operation. They were waiting on me when I got there at 5:15 (they close at 5:30). I WAS happy with the repair and the cost of the repair, however. A second repair job was a big one and they couldn't handle it - they referred us out. Disappointing but they can't repair every car and they can't repair every problem. I expect this is the "honesty" that customers refer to in the reviews. Overall, Dixie is okay. They know how to fix cars, but you have to stay on top of them. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I had my car in there last week for a oil change and asked them to look it over for a trip. Well, I should give a little background before I go deeper. I had my brakes replaced a little over three months ago. All my fluids exchanged within the year. My air filter and fuel filter done 8 months ago. My drive belts were done 2 weeks ago. I also had an alignment and my tires balanced when the belts were done. You will know why I say this in a minute. Well, after about an hour and a half of waiting for an oil change I was told would take no more than 45 minutes, I was told I need the following... Drive belts...supposedly bc they were cracked. Thermostat and gasket Upper radiator hose Lower radiator hose Transmission flush Coolant flush Air filter Fuel filter Rear brakes...supposedly bc they were too thin for a trip Rotate and balance tires Alignment Seeing as I knew all this had already been done, which of course I did not tell the RUDE ASS behind the counter, I told them the work would have to wait. So I left Dixie Motors, and took my car to a different shop to get a second opinion. I told them what I wanted looked at and showed them what Dixie said I needed. I also asked if it was possible if they showed me all the things that were supposedly wrong with my car, which they happily did. Well, after all was said and done, my back brakes were in perfect shape, plenty of pad left. My belts were still in New condition, absolutely no cracks whatsoever. My air filter barely had a special of dirt in it, my fuel filter was still nice and shiny. None of my fluids that were supposedly dirty needed any kind of service. As far as the thermostat and gasket and hoses go, go figure but there was nothing wrong with those either. The technicians name on the ticket was JB1. So I have come to the conclusion that obviously they are trying to sell people work that they do not need. I am curios as to how many people they have duped into paying for work that they don't need. Either they aren't correctly checking cars or the technician is looking for a little bigger paycheck. My suggestion, don't take your car to Dixie Motors unless you have money to waste. Go find another shop. As for the RUDE ASS behind the counter, I believe Mike was his name. One day someone is gonna punch you in the face for the way you speak to people. I wouldn't trust these guys with my car ever again. Midas in the same lot has gone out of business. I intended to go to Midas, but I ended up going to Dixie as I needed an immediate repair. Big mistake! A day after I picked my car up, I had to use my windshield wiper fluid. Nothing came out repeatedly. I filled the reservoir again, even though I used it the day before taking it to Dixie. Still nothing. Again, worked the day before Dixie no prob. Well, I lift the hood to have a better look and the line that feeds the wipers is severed. There is no way they wouldn't know that this happened. I forgive mistakes we all make them. I think Dixie knew they severed the line. They should have admitted as much, FIXED it, not that costly. . .and explained it to me. Next, my car has a unique fix that requires special attention. Not rocket science. It is one small extra step that any mechanic can deal with. I took time out to show the mechanic the work around, and asked if he understood. He grunted and acted like it was a big bother to be instructed on it. Yeah yeah he understood so he said. Of course, I go to pick the car up, and they had not followed my instructions. They decided to remove a fuse instead. This can cause other problems. Apparently no worries for Dixie so who cares right??? Lastly. . . not a week later I had radiator and engine oil problems. How in the world could they not have diagnosed at least one of these issues? Coincidence? I don't know- but I will never go back to find out. I do not recommend this repair shop at all. Or maybe I do- to good 'ole boys. . . might be just the kind of place for them. read more
