I took my car in for an alignment a few weeks ago, after the alignment my car was pulling left so I brought it back and Joe the assistant store manager took my car and had it realigned. unfortunately, it started pulling right.. so I brought it back again and Joe took the car again help figure out what was going on with my car... did another alignment and tried switching my tires around.. sadly it did not fix the problem but I can not complain about the customer service. my diesel truck holds 15 quarts of oil. I've owned it for 9 years, many oil changes. Im 52 and have been able to trust pep boys since I was 16. Today I trusted this location to change the oil in this truck. I want to get lunch, they told me it would be 2-3 hours for the oil change. I came back from lunch and the manager informed me " Oh by the way your oil change costs $287. I told him to pull my truck out because I'd never pay that much. I was then informed that the oil had already been drained. He discounted the service but the truck then mysteriously was ready in less than an hour. There was a shop rag hanging out from under the hood. Being nervous I opened the hood and checked the oil and there was a funnel laying on one of the batteries with a sloppy oil mess. I drove by several other oil change businesses to get this. NEVER again. read more

NIGHTMARE!!!! The serpentine belt broke on my 2004 Ford Taurus. My insurance company, Hanover, agreed to cover all repairs except for the serpentine belt itself. I was told that I could take it to six or eight different automotive repair places. I chose Pep Boys on Abercorn Street in Savannah because it is across the street from where I work at AutoNation. I told them my insurance claim number and let them know that before any work was done, Pep Boys must fax an estimate of the repairs to Hanover Insurance. This was typed into notes by Service Tech, Aaron Mowery. When I went to Pep Boys to check the status of my Taurus, I was told that they were just about finished. I was thrilled! I had been without a car for a week. I asked the Service Manager # 129, Kevin Sellers, if the estimate was faxed to Hanover Insurance. No, it was not AND Hanover called me and denied the claim! Kevin Sellers raised his voice to me, a loyal customer, because he was embarrassed that his technician failed to follow procedure. I asked him not to raise his voice anymore, and I have many witnesses to this... customers and service techs at Pep Boys. Mr. Sellers got so mad that he told the tech to rip out all of the parts that they had installed on my Ford Taurus. I pulled out my cell phone and told him if he did that I would call the police. Mr. Sellers was starting to get red in the face, and I was scared. He told me to get off of his property... I am a 59 year old woman and I was not sure what to do. He drove my Taurus out of the Bay and toward the front of the store. He told me to take my car and get off of his property. He also said that my car had no coolant in it; I didn't know what coolant was nor where to put it. I drove acoss the street to AutoNation, where I am proudly employed. Several service techs tried to help me put antifreeze in the radiator, but it poured out all over the ground as they were pouring it in. Yes, I need a new radiator. So today, September 19, 2016 marks 10 days since my Serpentine belt broke. I have appealed to Pep Boys, but to no avail. The Area Director, Frank Kroner, hung up in my face. I've been here two or three times now and the service guys are very nice, but they take what seems like forever to get anything done. It took them nearly 5 hours for them to tell me they couldn't fix my tire. Which isn't that bad, until it took them 15 minutes to check me out for the work they did do. Only left 1 Star because 0 isn't an option. The mechanics at this Pep Boys are totally incompetent or just lazy. Took my Nissan Versa here after it broke down in traffic for an inspection. The report they gave me stated I needed a serpentine belt & a new alternator for $700 +. After having a Nissan mechanic inspect vehicle my alternator & belt was still in good condition. The positive fuse box cord wasn't connected to the alternator. Had they actually inspected my car instead of trying to scam me out of $700 they would have known that. read more

Update: Steve Hinkle reached out to my family regarding our experience at PepBoys. They could have killed us, by doing faulty brakes. Steve stated he wanted to make things right and compensate us 300.00 for our headaches. He asked me to email him a copy of our receipt and a good mailing address. I did what he asked, only for him to stop responding. I did call him, and he stated he forgot but he would get right on it. I gave him days, and reached back out. No answer to my calls or texts. I reached back out to customer service, and was told someone else would be reaching out. No call yet. Integrity is a company wide issue with pepboys. Stay far away from them. Their work is faulty, and could cost you your life. Their words don't hold any weight. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. The customer service is horrible. I had an appointment for my oil change and was originally quoted an hour for my wait time. After the hour was up, I found out my car had not even been looked at. The technician said it would be an additional hour and a half. I don't understand how the time can increase when you have an appointment. Apparently they were short staffed and other appointments were ahead of me. I made an appointment online at PepBoys.com for an oil change. The price and discount were all listed on the website. When I came in to drop the car off, they tried to charge me $20 more than the full price and said they couldn't use the coupon. Its hard to understand how all pricing is listed online but once you arrive, they try to charge MORE than full price. To top it all off, they were extremely rude and didn't even say hello. The service at this location was beyond great! My husband and I had to make an emergency trip down from New Jersey because my mother is very sick and doesn't have much time left. On the way down our car started making a whining sound that we thought was the power steering pump. Refusing to just throw parts at the issue, the mechanic carefully went over the engine and discovered there was actually a bad idler pulley and water pump, which also explained why the car was continually losing coolant at a slow and steady pace. The power steering was just fine and the team there took the time to show us how and why the power steering was still good, and said doing it "just in case" would be a waste. We ended up spending a lot less than we were expecting to, and Kevin was extremely patient and polite in spite of my better half asking 21 questions. The mechanic ensured through diligent and professional work that we wouldn't break down for the drive back home. I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to invite my family and friends in Savannah to come here for their service needs. Thanks, Kevin, for giving us peace of mind in a very stressful time. read more

Your time will be wasted sitting in an uncomfortable chair and watching the mechanic eat his breakfast and talk to his friends and family in the parking lot. It took 5 hours! Count em 1 2 3 4 5!!!!JUST to get a Diagnostic test done, AND they only had time to find three of the four problems IN 5 hours that I asked about before I had to get to work. They told me it was first come first serve, so I got there at 7:50 AM and didn't leave until 1:00 PM. In that time, I watched the mechanic walk down to the restaurant, get his breakfast, come back with it in his hands, and eat it. Then I saw him in the parking lot talking to his friends/family. I finally had to go in and ask what was going on with my vehicle after three hours!!!! When it was all over, they printed me out what was wrong with my car but forgot to print out the third thing that was wrong so I had to go back in and ask them what it was and write it down myself on the paper. It's every bit as bad as the reviews say. Had a 1:00 appointment for tires and had been pulled in but still sitting on the ground with the old tires on at 2:00. At least the don't pretend to care. When I finally got my car the low pressure light was on so I had to go back in and say something. There are a few things scarier than traveling the interstate highway at 72 mph and your car shuts off. A frightening experience for sure. Thank God, I was already driving in the right lane and simply pulled over as the car eventually came to a complete stop. The problem beyond my car quitting on me was that I was 4 hours from home, 1 mile from the nearest exit, had to use the bathroom, and to top it all after calling AAA and the operator first telling me that my membership had expired 2 years prior (even though I made a payment less than a month ago), but then somehow found me in their system after all, was that I may have to wait up to 2 hours for a tow truck to come get me. I thought I would lose all my marbles right then and there. I frantically called my husband, who told me to try to start the car again and it did, so I drove in the pull-off lane with my hazard lights on until I got off the next exit and parked at a gas station and then updated AAA on my new location. Finally some good news was that a tow truck driver was already on his way. He got my car on the tow truck fairly quickly and off we went looking for a car mechanic shop. The first one was a dud as it closed on a Saturday afternoon by 1:30 pm; some strange hours for sure. So, off he drove me all the way to Pep Boys in Savannah as he had called them prior to ask if they can fit me in. I was already paranoid that I would have to spend the night in some rinky dinky motel not knowing if my car would be able to get fixed the same day. Thankfully, Pep Boys took me in and I do appreciate their service on such a last minute emergency. As already mentioned in prior reviews, the wait time is quite a stretch. The mechanic who worked on my car called me over to show me that the alternator quit on me and that is why everything turned off at once. Well, after 3 hours and over 400 USD later I had a new alternator and was able to continue my road trip to Florida. I definitely never thought I would find myself in Savannah that day. So, thank you Pep Boys for helping this lady and her lemon car out. Just not sure I would want to come back and visit this location based on the long wait time. read more

Just moved from Maryland and had a slow leak in my front left tire. Purchased all four of my tires from Pep Boys up North and my warranty was still valid. Goggled the closest Pep Boy's and it was in Savannah ( 8702 Abercorn Street, Savannah, GA 31406). They were very unprofessional. I walked in and there was a lady and two gentlemen at the desk talking about/complaining about the work, and discussing personal business. It took 15 minutes for someone to acknowledge me. He took my keys without checking me in. I waited two and half hours to discover they didn't have a replacement tire. The gentleman was supposed to order it and call me back in two days (Tuesday). I called back in four days and he needed to trace it. He assured me that it would be at the shop no later than Tuesday of the next week. He said he needs to put my spare on until the tire arrives. They put the tire on without servicing the tire. It was low. Dangerous and disregard for life. I called back on Friday and after speaking with the same gentleman, a lady got on the phone and said call back. I spoke back with Mr. D and he said they have to track it. Now, they have an alternate tire. Being busy is a good sign because the store isn't at risk of closing down, but this store clearly needs to close down. Very unprofessional individuals. They needs to take lessons from up North establishments. read more

I had a 11am appointment on 8/5/2018. Needless to say, they only had one mechanic on site and I didn't get my oil changed until 1:20pm. The mechanic didn't greet me nor, did he tell me what was going on with my car. He had the clerk tell me. I made a complaint with Charles (assistant manager) he laughs at me and said that appointments aren't allowed on the weekends. I asked him why did it allow me to make one online? He blamed it on his corporate office. So, I called them. Even the customer service person at Pep Boys corporate seemed like he didn't care about my complaint. I checked out and told Charles that I would never come back to his location ever again. He then tried to offer me a free oil change but, the damage was already done. I have used this and 1 other company here in town for all my auto service needs. Pep Boys may have some flaws but who doesn't. Yes I've had problems with scheduled times but the service manager has always been extremely accommodating. That's why I give them a 5 star review. Will I use them again? Definitely! I am grateful to have found a auto shop while I was visiting in Savannah that was taking cars. I contacted 4 atuto shops they were all booked. I had gotten a nail when I arrived in Savannah from Atlanta. This PepBoys repaired it but with rope plug which did not last at all so had to get repaired again by PepBoys in Norcross. Very frustrating coming back into town having to figure out why my tire is low for a whole week. You all should change you method of plugging tires to standard that other PepBoys shops are using. read more

I made a Yelp just so I could leave this one review. I made an appointment with Pep Boys to get a few things done on my vehicle. I needed new CV Joints and my car was unable to read one of my tires. I drove an hour to this location only for them to tell me they cannot do the joints because they do not have a technician. I feel as though that's something you'd want to mention while making an appointment and wasting peoples time. I then asked if they could at least check the tire. The gentleman said my car tire was low and needed air. I asked if the tire was losing air then wouldn't it be best to replace the tire so I don't constantly have to put in air? And he shrugged me off. Then a different guy came out and said the tires are all completely fine and so are the sensors. Then a minute later he says the sensors are bad but we can replace those, great right! No, then the original gentlemen comes back in and tells me that cannot do it. It is very obvious no one wanted to do the work and help me. I wasted an hour to get there, an hour for this worthless conversation and an hour back home. Thank you Pep Boys. read more
