The food was delicious, had good presentation and the view was amazing. We were waiting to get on the Maligne Lake Cruise, so we asked our server to bring our check with our food so we were free to go anytime.  We ordered the Crispy Pork Belly Sandwich, Skirt Steak Sandwich and Lakeside Burger. All were well presented and delicious.  The sandwiches were more like flat breads but the fillings were delicious. Both came with tender beef skirt/pork belly strips with tangy pickles and green leafy garnishes. The burger was very enjoyable to eat as well, because the meat was juicy and I really liked. the smear of garlic aioli sauce for the fries.  We sat on the shady lake porch area and the padded chairs was so comfy we could fall asleep. The view was pretty amazing, and most importantly we can monitor the line to the cruise so we know when to get going.  Overall, the experience was great with beautiful scenery, friendly staff, and delicious food. I'd definitely recommend getting a meal here if you spend time at Maligne Lake. read more

We didn't have a chance to dine here but it smells amazing. The restaurant shared a space with a cute gift shop and bathroom. We always try to avoid porta potty whenever possible. We initially wanted to check out the place, and was going come back after the hike to pick up gifts and have a late lunch. Sadly it was closed for a private event when we came back. Great little lunch spot after (or during) a hike down the Maligne Canyon. Really cool space with a laid back, yet refined vibe. Excellent servers and staff. Mixture of BBQ inspired dishes. We had a range of entrees at the table, burgers, salad, BBQ platter, kids menu items, and everyone was pleased! The Dijon salmon was the best dish of the bunch. Long ago, before my time, this was an elegant tea house. Then it became a concessionary. Now finally it's back to the glory days of fine dining. We just finished the ice walk through Maligne Canyon so a light lunch would be spot on. I ordered the French Onion Soup although I was sure temped by the soup of the day which was spicy squash. Before ordering I asked if they have Wi-Fi and was told "no it's part of the wilderness experience". Fortunately I did still get cell service so I'm able to finish my review. I ordered the French Onion Soup and it was excellent. Not huge but delightful and unique. This is not your grandmother's French Onion Soup! It was listed in the menu as an appetizer and that's what it is. I certainly recommend it but don't try to make it a meal unless you are really not hungry. It was $12.00. The restaurant is beautiful inside. They didn't spare the expense on furnishings and decorations. I hope that they can make a go of it because it's not cheap but it's worth the cost if you have a taste for the finer things. read more

This was our first "tea house hike" and it turned out to be fake :( It was actually a restaurant, but it was recently just bought out so fair enough. The patio seating was peaceful and they even have fire pits. Even though we only ordered a light lunch of soup/chili, the dishes came out nicely plated and our server was very friendly/energetic. Both the Tomato Bisque and Smoked Brisket Chili had a lot of flavor and surprisingly filled us up. A little on the fancy side, but nice break for a quick snack before heading back on our hike. read more

We stopped here for lunch after hiking in the canyon. Have to say this was the best meal we had during our stay in Jasper. My wife had the French onion soup which she really liked. My son had the veggie sandwich with garlic fries which he also thought was very tasty. I had the slowed cooked beef brisket with baked beans. Grain of salt: we were there as part of a tour so maybe the food is very different if it isn't prepared for a group. Ours was and it was borderline inedible. And for whatever reason we didn't get the all but inevitable over baked cookies for dessert which accompany tour dining, to which we were very much looking forward! Having eaten very little of the lunch we were hoping to stave off afternoon headaches occasioned by being hungry. Alas. The facility was lovely, it was clean and if we had only stopped in for coffee or a drink I imagine I'd have given it 5 stars. The staff was friendly and the views are once in a lifetime. Go there on your own, but if you're going as part of a tour, bring a couple of power bars for the long afternoon back to your hotel. read more

Came here for lunch after a cold, long hike. I really appreciate this place! The aesthetics of the gift shop, the nice tables with a view and big windows, and not to mention the fireplace! The meal was surprisingly good--my pulled pork sandwich was very tasty and served on an artfully placed wooden paddle. It was nice to have the combo with the side as well. Took about 20 minutes for food to come but we weren't in a rush. Overall highly recommend this place especially after a hike at Maligne. read more

We thought this would be a massive tourist trap restaurant that is just there out of convince but we were wrong. Patio has an amazing view and sound of the flowing water. The staff were super friendly. The BBQ food was amazing. We had pulled pork sandwich and beef brisket. Super tender and nicely cooked. The side of garlic fries were super crispy and flavourful. The wait staff brought lots of water by without having to ask and they offered 15% if you booked the boat cruise. We are hoping to dine here again on our trip! read more

Just stood at the door while one man at a register told me to wait to be seated then about 5 minutes later another guy comes up with a sign saying they are closing at 2pm for private function (mind you it was already after 2 and the other man had told me to wait). Regardless they wouldn't seat me. Also, no notes on their website which I checked for the hours. Also, not a word about it on here either. Definitely poor customer service...unless you're part of the party. Do better. read more

This provides a great respite from a long day on the lake or from a hike in the nearby canyon. Has everything you need. Mainly grab and go style. They also have a large selection of baked goods. Tried their lemonade and banana bread. The bread was amazing. The obvious stand out is the deck with amazing views of the lake. Def worth a stop. read more

We had just finished hiking the Maligne Canyon and needed a nice cold drink before heading to Maligne Lake. While we waited a bit to get seated, our server was wonderful. Professional, personable and efficient. My wife and I both had excellent ciders and thought we would also enjoy their Kennebec chips with dip. I must say the dip was excellent. Well, while the server told us the "chips" were closer to potato chips than fries, we were very disappointed in the fact that what we got served were potato chips. The chips and dip order cost $12. We got perhaps 20 chips (potato chip size) and a bit of dip. So, we essentially paid about $0.60 per potato chip. That is simply crazy. While my wife liked the chips (at the price we were charged they should have been magnificent) I thought they were quite bland. At least the dip and the ciders were good. We can't say anything about the rest of the menu, but we would strongly suggest that you don't order the chips and dip - unless you have money you just want to throw away. read more

Went here for dinner one night and came back for their lunch menu the next day. Love the food here and the trail right next to it. My wife and I stumbled upon this remarkable find after a great walk along the canyon. We stopped and tried their high tea and were amazed by the quality of ingredients and the presentation. We decided to try dinner their too and were completely blown away! The quality of ingredients, preparation and presentation were of some of the best meals we have eaten. TIP: sit on their patio and listen to the maligne river running just feet from your table. read more

Throughout the beautiful 3k hike around Maligne Canyon my friends and I were excited for the 'Tea House' that would be welcoming us at the end. What we found was a dated cafeteria with sub-par food that was extremely overpriced. If they had called a spade a spade we would have been fine with this humble eatery, but we were expecting something lux. This ain't lux my dears. The wilderness kitchen is open again! As a precaution you must sanitize your hands, tables are placed a certain distance apart, and the staff wear masks. The food is amazing. I had the chicken sandwich and my husband had the bison chili. Both needed maybe a little bit of salt but otherwise our meals were delicious. The service was a little slow but the hostess thanked us for being patient as they have new staff on board and have just reopened so there is a bit of a learning curve. The restaurant is located right at the trailhead of one of the most popular tourist spots in the area, Maligne Canyon, but it's very decently priced and the food is actually worth making the trip for. Parking can be pretty difficult but there's an overflow parking lot less than 1 km away. Otherwise you might be circling for while. I don't know about the men's room, but only one of three stalls was open in the ladies due to social distancing measures so that can be a bit of a wait. read more

Had a breakfast buffet there through our tour company. Attractive display but NONE of the "hot" foods were hot, water and OJ were room temperature with no ice. No milk. The sausage link were shriveled up like it was left over from the day before. The quiche/frittata and fresh fruit were good though the quiche should have been hot. The pastries were dried out. This was a cafeteria style restaurant on the shore of Maligne Lake. Long line and extremely high prices, no fountain drinks, only bottled from a cooler. They were out of the beef stew they were advertising, so I got chili instead and a prepackaged caesar salad. The salad was an outrageous $15 and the small bowl of chili another $9. Good God, you'd think from the prices you're at least getting a fresh served salad, but no. It makes sense, since they are the only restaurant around for miles, they can charge an arm and a leg for a candy bar. My advice is eat back in the town of Jasper. read more

Don't judge this hidden gems by its appearance. The quality and presentation of the food are well beyond anything else you will find in Jasper. Head out to the patio to enjoy your meal with the tranquil sound of Maligne Canyon rushing by. The tahini shrimp appetizer is a must try with a perfect balance of flavours. Giving one star due to the service...there is no lower rating. Stopped there for lunch after my hike in Maligne Canyon and service was non existence. Ordered a beer and after waiting for over 20 minutes for it, went to the bar to ask for it, since I did not see my server anywhere. Manager stated that it would be brought out to me. Finally when I got my beer, I ordered some soup and again waited even longer for it. When I saw the manager again, asked her about my soup and was it normal for the service to take this long. Her comment was that people don't come here for the service, but for the view. Was really surprised by the comment, which means that they don't care about the service. Mentioned her attitude to the two tables next to me, and both stated that they also had very slow service. Travel a lot and have not ever received this kind of service or response from a manager. We visit Jasper and come here every year, but will never go to this restaurant again. Especially when they don't care about service or the customer. The amount of food you get is much less than the generous portion shown in the picture the Maligne Canyon Wilderness Kitchen shows in the supplied Yelp photo. Just now, looking over the credit card bill, I'm sensing that frustration all over again. The food was not worth the money and the "advertising" photo is not accurate. This is a lovely place, but we enjoyed meals at other restaurants in town and at restaurants in the Jasper Park Lodge far more. read more

Surprisingly good. It is right at the canyon with a nice view. Its got a monopoly so I expected it to be overpriced and with poor food, but surprisingly it was pretty good on both counts. Great place to relax and enjoy the ambiance while having a drink or food. read more

The hike here is great! Save your time and money and DO NOT eat at the Tea House! The owner of the restaurant/gift shop is a very rude. My husband and I were trying to get through our overpriced, sub par lunch when we noticed the owner getting upset at this family of three. The Mother was feeding her baby a bottle and the owner told them to leave because they were bringing in "outside food". The Father asked if they could at least sit at the table on the patio and the owner replied, "absolutely not!". What a jerk. I heard him mention something about health standards and the ironic thing is when you go to the restrooms of the restaurant, of the four stalls avalilable, only ONE was working. The three unusable stalls had their doors taped with duct tape (nice way to cut corners buddy!). No paper towels available despite the two hand dryers not working. Don't support this guy's business...he doesn't deserve it. He's rude and trying to make a buck on such poor customer service. read more

Had a great hike through Maligne Canyon, followed by a brief (we thought) stop at the Tea House. Just had some great sweet potato fries and a soda (not fine dining), but were blown away by the art collection of the owner - a fantastic collection of Norval Morriseau paintings and some impressive Inuit art on display. The souvenir shop was a mix of souvenir-grade art and some better Inuit art. We treated it as a museum stop, rather than a fine dining experience, and were more than satisfied on that basis (although my wife didn't stop raving over her fries for most of the stop!). read more
