It's probably the most Instagrammable restaurant in the Jasper town. We arrived at around 11:00, and the restaurant was fully packed. We had to wait for about 15 minutes before being seated, and we were placed outdoors. But I have to say, sitting outside at this time was almost sunburn-inducing, so we quickly ate and left. We ordered the Turkish egg & halloumi. Since I'm lactose intolerant, the staff kindly replaced the halloumi with avocado. I loved this dish! The drizzle of spicy oil added a unique flavor to the whole dish, and I never thought it would pair so well. It was delicious! However, the only downside to this place is the high number of customers. I'm not usually a quinoa fan, but their Sunshine Bowl won me over. It was perfectly seasoned, and it was topped with a poached egg and smoked salmon. My only gripe? The serving was a bit small. I also tried the turmeric chai, which not only looked great for photos but also tasted pretty good. Sunhouse tends to get quite busy; we had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. But, the staff was incredibly friendly. We opted for outdoor seating, and while the view was lovely from the second floor, we got a bit sunburned. An absolute favorite in this beautiful little town! Sunhouse Cafe has that small town local feel, but big world options. As plant-based athletes who seek out healthy food to fuel our active days, we were so happy to discover this cafe yesterday while in Jasper, and we are back today! The staff here are so warm & friendly, and the upstairs location has great outdoor seating where you can people-watch or just soak in the mountain views, and watch the town wake up in the morning. Our delicious eats (both days) were: *Avocado on Sourdough (sans egg, and got potatoes instead called "Crispy Chats") *Side of Flatbread *Latte (with oat milk) *Flat White (with macadamia nut milk) *Green Smoothie (mango, spinach, banana, mint) If you prefer to eat inside, the cafe has a beautiful glass atrium-like ceiling. We ordered the Turkish breakfast (thx to Pam from Raven Bistro for the recommendation) which consists of grilled halloumi, 2 fried eggs, herbed yogurt, cucumber mint salad (both which was so refreshing), Zataar flatbread, and harissa. The grilled halloumi was a bit over cooked and salty which is why I deducted a star. The other breakfast we ordered was avocado on sourdough which was a poached egg with greens and pomegrante. A very lovely breakfast place with an amazing view! The main indoor area features an open kitchen and a gorgeous sunroof skylight in a very high ceiling. There are also many patio seats that feature beautiful views of Jasper from the second floor of the building. The decor is also very pretty and almost doesn't seem like the place is in Jasper. Their menu is quite customizable and features all the typical brunch items and some other ones too. We ordered a breakfast bun and mushroom and pesto hash and both were delicious. Located on the upstairs level of Patricia Street Deli and next door to ALBA restaurant, Sunhouse Cafe is a nicely lit "greenhouse" room with an all-glass ceiling that lets in a lot of natural light. It's a very small restaurant with one large table that can accommodate 10-12 people, and several smaller 2-person tables and bar-style seats. We went there for a weekday lunch to celebrate a special occasion and were lucky that the large table was unoccupied. We ordered mimosas, key lime french toast, a breakfast burger, a Turkish eggs & halloumi entree, and a sunshine bowl entree. Their daily specials are written on a large tear-off brown sheet of paper near the top of a wall, so look for that before you order. There was only one person cooking, so it took a very long time for our food to come out, but it was worth the wait -- the food was delicious! The key lime French toast was citrusy and full of key lime flavor, very unique! The Turkish eggs and halloumi comes with two pieces of grilled halloumi, and everything tasted so great. The breakfast burger was basically a full-size entree burger, and it was very delicious as well. The quinoa in the sunshine bowl was not soggy, it still had some chew to it. Give me clean Scandinavian design, solid caffeinated choices, snow-capped mountain views and delicious new age healthy brunch options, and I'm one happy mama! Sunhouse is located in the middle oh so adorable town of Jasper. It's on the second floor, so it takes a little looking. It's a smaller sweet spot and while the inside is chic and modern, the outside balcony is where we chose to sit even on a cold morning because I just couldn't not watch those mountains. There's a basket full of blankets to keep you extra warm out there. Nice touch!! We started with the tumeric chai latte, in hopes of both warming up and naturally healing our bones with how much hiking we had been doing. It was golden and perfectly spiced! A winner, for sure! YUM!! I indulged in the greens salad, which was packed full of healthy lightly dressed mixed greens my body was craving while traveling. I opted to add the grilled haloumi, because it's not something you see on a menu so much in North America. The Greek add-on was a wonderful way to add some salt and warmth to the bowl. Definitely recommend that option for a minimal fee. $6 I believe, and sooooo worth it! Hubs decided to build his own avocado toast with the sides menu...sourdough, poached egg, avocado and arugula with a evoo drizzle. We were both very happy with our lighter start to the day! When we're in town again, this is a place I'm sure to hit up. The menu was filled with harder to come by options like chia bowls and such! Yay! Service wasn't the quickest, even in the off season, but this was one of our rare leisurely starting mornings, so we didn't mind at all, plus the views weren't making us rush off either. I do however think if you come in knowing that you may wait for your food, you won't be disappointed. Get those coffee/tea orders in right away, and just take in the scenery while you wait for your plates. Brave the cold if you visit from October on, and sit outside! It's just the loveliest! You pay the bill at the counter, and restrooms are in the hall. They are communal for the whole complex. They're super clean though, and again with a gorgeous Scandinavian feel. read more

I got a cappuccino and (surprise surprise) the avocado toast. TBH, I don't like getting avocado toast because I feel like it's so easy to make, and, being from LA, it's honestly difficult to wow me with avocado toast as I've had my fair share of them. But, gotta say, the dish was perfect here! It all had to do with the bread, I think, which was sooo difficult to stop eating (carbs, ack!). To quote two of the people in my group- "this is the best breakfast I have ever had in my life!" Everyone absolutely loved our breakfast this morning. It was healthy, fresh, and just an overall refreshing option. The actual restaurant is beautiful with all of the windows, and you can definitely expect a picturesque view of the mountains around. All of the staff were incredibly friendly and the whole atmosphere of the restaurant is relaxing and upbeat. I had the mocha, which was amazing. It's dark chocolate and rich but not overly sweet like most standard coffee shops. I would highly recommend it. For breakfast we had the poached eggs on sourdough with added avocado and ham, the mixed berry hotcakes, and the breakfast baguette with chorizo. Everything was delicious, and unique enough to be a memorable change from a traditional breakfast. Everything was perfectly cooked (they nailed all the poached eggs!) and there wasn't a single complaint. The only issue I could see is that it is a pretty small establishment so there is just a lack of table space if you have a big group unless you called ahead or something. This didn't really impact us, but if you have more than 2-4 people it is something to be aware of. We will absolutely be back. read more
