We sat at the bar, and the bartender told us he'd be right with us--but then walked over to the other bar and started chatting. It wasn't busy at all, and there was only one other couple at the bar, which made the wait even more noticeable. We ended up sitting there for quite a while without menus, feeling awkward and honestly close to leaving. When he finally came back, I ordered the key lime cocktail, which was just okay. Unfortunately, he didn't check in on us afterward, and the service overall fell short. We ended up paying and heading to a different spot. Disappointing experience, especially since we were really looking forward to it.

We…read morewere really looking forward to the experience, especially because the menu is somewhat unusual and had several dishes that sounded very appealing. Unfortunately, our experience was mixed. The service started out very well. Our original server was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome. However, as the restaurant became busier, the service declined noticeably. It seemed as though the larger groups were receiving much more attention than the tables of two. At some point, our original server and another server appeared to switch tables, and unfortunately, the second server was not nearly as attentive. By the middle of our meal, we felt like we had been forgotten. The food was also a mixed experience. I ordered the Bison Ribeye. The flavor was good, but the steak was surprisingly thin and was not cooked to the medium temperature I requested. In appearance, it reminded me more of a steak you might get at a diner than what I expected from a restaurant like The Wildmount. My wife ordered the chicken with fettuccine. Unfortunately, she found it far too salty and heavy on the garlic, which made the dish difficult to enjoy. Overall, it seemed to us that the chef was trying to incorporate too many different flavors, and they didn't always complement each other. We really wanted to love The Wildmount, particularly since we chose it for a special occasion. There are some interesting ideas on the menu, and our first server certainly made a good impression. However, based on our anniversary dinner, the food and especially the service did not live up to our expectations. Hopefully, this was just an off night, because The Wildmount has the potential to be a very good restaurant.

My hostess was also my server who is also the manager. The place is clean. No offending smells, bugs, or sticky table tops. Their menu is small. mostly burgers and sandwiches. I did notice a parking spot designated for the employee of the month, right near the door. I always see the same white pick up truck there. Humm wink wink, nod nod. I wonder what the manager drives. Overall it is a nice place to stop in for a quick meal. It isn't fancy dishes with big names. Just good food, friendly service, and no pretences. I'll be back. You should try it too.

Mid-week dining brings the perk of a buy-one, get-one-half-off sushi promotion, though prospective diners should note that these rolls run noticeably smaller than standard iterations. The lower-level sushi options acquitted themselves reasonably well, though they leaned heavily on rice--delivering precisely the sort of inland, adjusted execution one typically expects in Georgia compared to a coastal maritime hub. The extensive, sprawling menu covers an eclectic variety of bases, making it a reliable destination for group gatherings. While I would gladly return for the lively atmosphere and versatility, I'd likely bypass the sushi next time around.

I'm going to try to separate my 'tastes' from the dishes as presented. My wife's Bolognese was absolutely delicious and very well seasoned, and the cheesecake was fantastic. My wife thought it had too much crumble; I consider that a feature and would absolutely get that again. The salads were dandelion greens and they were far more bitter than I like, and a generous dose of dressing, something acidic would cover it, or something sweet. The bites I had with tomato were good. But I couldn't really finish it. The big problem was spaghetti with Sunday gravy. It was a huge disappointment. The pasta itself was excellent and the meatballs were okay, but the sauce was surprisingly bland and under-seasoned, especially for a $30+ entrée. It tasted more like plain tomato sauce than the rich, deeply flavored hardy sunday gravy that fully of meaty and salty flavors I was expecting. I do NOT salt my dishes at the table because I season them thru the cook. I wish there were salt and pepper at the table tonight though. The Sunday Gravy tasted decidedly like pure puréed tomato with a few meatballs added after the fact. They were dry and clearly not cooked with the sauce. I wish they had been. There are definitely things here I'd happily order again. Others I want to try. I'd just skip the spaghetti, especially at that price point.
