Full transparency I have a love luke warm relationship with Malcuit's. Recent visit was an exceptional food experience.... 5 out of 5. The porterhouse special was perfectly prepared and the portion size was over the top...amazing cost value. Ambiance is a super nostalgic kitschy 70's supper club vibe 4 out of 5. Service which is a super important component of the dinning experience was much improved however is still falling a bit short of expectations 3 out of 5. Wow! And Wow times 100!! I had the broiled 16oz rib eye which chef Preston cooked to a perfect medium. Served on an extremely hot platter. Keep in mind that the ribeye is grass fed, so don't expect any marbling. Seasoned nicely. Laying in steak drippings and butter. The side salad was fresh and crisp. The complimentary garlic bread is a show stopper. My wife's 6oz was cooked to perfection. Total order was $115, sans the tip. Included was a bottle of St. George CA Cab and a glass of Moscato. it's about the steak, 16oz ribeye broiled rare with an amazing butter sauce. the tenderness and flavor was as good or better than any steak we have had at any top end steak house. the steak was butter knife tender with a soft buttery mouth feel. a quirky little place , dill pickle on the side, cocktails in water type goblets but good. bake potato loaded with a smoky thick cut bacon. man doesn't get better than that. service was fast, prompt, patient and friendly what you would expect from a small town steakhouse. for sure a come again type place. thanks for a great meal read more

stayed in Strasburg for a long weekend and took my son, daughter and son-in-law to Malcuitt's. had a good meal there pre-pandemic. Called ahead for reservation and they asked bar on dining roI'm. I like the bar because there are a few booths that reduce the din and you can talk. service was quick and friendly. I explained a rye Manhattan to the bartender and she made a good one. I knew the size of their steaks, so my daughter and I split a strip steak with salad and baked potato. My son had salmon and my son-in-law had a casserole looking thing. All was excellent. steak was medium rare, as ordered. salmon was cooked but still soft. note: some reviewers state that the steaks are brined in pickle juice--not true. They use pepper, another herb that I missed and soy sauce. A pickle spear is placed on the cast iron plate with the steak after it has been seared and then placed into the oven. Works quite well. We all thought prices were fair for the size and quality of the meals. Even my son who is a bit of a critic. read more

My husband and I made a reservation for 2 on a Friday and got our table immediately upon arrival. We ordered the mozzarella sticks to start and they were great. We also both ordered the filet mignon and a loaded baked potato. The filet was phenomenal! They were cooked to a perfect medium rare and sat in an incredible buttery sauce. Our server was so kind and attentive as well. We will be returning when we find ourselves in the area in the future. read more

Dinner for 2. 05/28/22 Appetizer - Ordered BA's sample platter app (great) Meals - 2 salad (good), fries (good crisp but tasted like cooked in old burnt oil), green beans (no seasonings, tastes to be just boiled in over chlorinated water), 7 shrimp with linguini in garlic butter sauce (no flavor at all, tastes like it was cooked in a steamer bag with no seasonings), 25oz Porterhouse (worst ever, tastes to me marinated in powder milk with no other flavor, meat was tinder but slightly undercooked for medium rare-ok, no juices in steak at all ,usually a little blood when cut but this steak was attacked by a vampire before cooked- bad Will never return! As a local, I have the privilege of being able to dine here more often than others. Privilege for sure. Prices are fair and some items are listed at "Market", but I assure you this place is worth the trip, the wait, anything. Open the front door to a somewhat plain looking dining room with simple furnishings and an eager staff ready to provide you with excellent service and a food experience for those who love to eat. Booths are a little firm to sit but overall the seating is good. Cleanliness is great, bar is nice and tidy with good pours and good pricing. On occasion, service speed can be slow, but you cannot rush great food. Common meals our family orders include the Scrod, Pork Chops, Strip Steak, and pasta. I have never had a bad meal here. But I am extremely biased about the Filet. It is just amazing! Comes on a hot plate that continues to cook while it's headed to your table. Juicy, buttery, and seasoned to perfection. The flavor and prep are just perfect. Sides are large and plenty of choices. If you want a high end meal without a stuffy feel, this is it. My family and I ate here this past summer. It was delicious! Service was topnotch too! I would love to eat here again. It is on the pricey side so it's not some place I would be able to afford frequently. But what isn't these days. With that being side I would much rather pay good money to eat here than I would at Texas roadhouse on down the road. read more

I have had two incidents with this restaurant. First time was when I went and was asked if I had a reservation, I did not but was clearly made to feel like a street person. The hostess walked away without saying a word until someone else came to seat us. The restaurant was not even busy. The second encounter was being charged a "convenience fee" of 4% and when I questioned why, was told if using a credit card they charge this. I explained I used a debit card. I was then told I had to take the matter up with my bank. For a restaurant that can charge market price on a steak, I don't think they are hurting for money to have to pay a credit card fee. My first visit. I was impressed by the menu. Some items were a bit high priced in my opinion. I had the salmon with a salad and the green beans. Everything was awesome except for the canned green beans. Bad choice of the owner to serve canned beans along side the awesomeness. Absolutely love this small mom and pop family restaurant. Apparently everyone else in town does too. Upon walking in your taken back to an old time steak house. When we first arrived at the restaurant it was empty, by the time we left at seven the place was packed. The facility is clean and for the most part well taken care of. For dinner I had clam chowder, it was perfect. Lots of potatoes and clams with a creamy and thick base. Dinner I selected the broiled prime rib. Yep you read it right, broiled prime rib. I had never had prime rib broiled, I was glad I did. The meat was so tender and juicy. I would recommend it to anyone who likes prime rib. The portion was huge, it would have easily been enough for two. (I didn't share). The service was prompt and throughout the meal we were checked on several times. I've been to this location before and had slow service and ok food. Tonight we waited for 5 minutes to even be greeted as lady stood talking to other employees until a waitress had to flag the hostess down. We were not nicely greeted, simply told they have no open availability until 9pm. I understand they are busy and we should have considered calling ahead on a Saturday night but the poor lack of service, waiting for 5 minutes to be attended to and the fact that the hostess simply told us no open seating and moved on to next couple without a regard to say "please feel free to come back, we usually are busy on weekends and require call ahead on weekends" no, nothing, simply disregarded us and moved onto next couple. Sad to leave a review like this but hope it helps provide positive feedback. read more

We've tried filets in about every city we have visited. Nothing compares to the tenderness of these. We eat there at least once a month and friends come in from Toledo and Brunswick to eat there with us! Pork chops and fish are also delicious but I can't bypass the filet. Not impressed. The rib eye steaks were ok value for the price the baked potato outer part was rock hard including skin. The salad was lacking it includes a slice of pickled beet, two small pieces of cheese, half boiled egg, two grape tomatoes, lettuce and side salad dressing. Very plain and small portions. The ravioli my 15 year old compared to Chef Boy R D just a little less sweet she said. She did not enjoy it. My 20 year old got the chicken strips because the waiter steered her away from the linguini with white clam sauce by staying "it is not Alfredo, I love Alfredo and I do not like the garlic butter sauce." The chicken strips were dark brown very over cooked she only ate two of them. They need to step up their food and atmosphere for the price you pay. read more

Mostly known for steaks our party of 5 all partook of the pasta on the menu. 2 had the clam linguini both very large servings another had the linguini with meat sauce an I had the meat ravioli. All were served with a hearty salad and garlic bread. Service was prompt and drinks were refreshed without request. Always a good sign the waitress is watching. Pretty good overall. read more

It's just okay anymore. Years ago this was the best places around for a celebration dinner. The atmosphere is and probably always will be cool. It's kind of upscale and the lighting is dark enough for your prom dinner, but at the same time it's casual enough to go there just for the heck of it. Each steak is cooked on it's own individual plate in butter and pickle juice, which is unique. The baked potatoes "used" to be great big perfectly white and fluffy with lots of butter. The garlic bread is addicting. It's hard to not have at least 1 piece. However, most of that was in the distant past. My last couple of experiences have been blahzey. The baked potatoes tasted like they were microwaved. The steak was just okay, and maybe even a little dry. It's fairly expensive so you expect the best quality. You leave feeling kind of disappointed, if you're comparing it to 20 years ago. No one is more disappointed than I am to have to write that. I'll still give them another chance sometime. read more

All of their steaks are marinated in pickle juice and cooked on a wood and cast-iron plate, yielding a distinctly succulent piece of cow. They have some great seafood offerings and often have specials on local catch such as lake Erie perch. Be sure to make a reservation as this place is known throughout the area for their great dinners so it fills up quick. The dining room is somewhat small and the seating is not exactly soothing which takes away from the overall experience but it is a small price to pay. If you want your cholesterol level to explode, order their 18 ounce porterhouse steak special on a Friday night. I think the steak was marinated in butter for a week. Most of the meat was gristle filled and extremely chewy. I ordered mine medium and the juices from the butter were all over the table. Very disappointed after hearing such good things about their steaks. Would maybe try a mu strip next time, but really not sure if I ever will go back.
