front desk is very rude and will suggest you to do unnecessary x rays even tho the dental assistant even admitted to me the x ray was unnecessary, just to bill you because that x ray is not covered by your insurance. on top of that DR Musgrave is one of the worst dentists I have ever met, he is very ageist so if your under 30 I do not recommend even looking at this place, he will actively gaslight and intimidate you. I was told he refuses to do my teeth after booking me for a root canal then tried to charge my insurance saying they did "images" when nothing was done at all besides me sitting in a chair and him saying I'm not doing that and I refuse to touch your teeth, this was after I had already been confirmed I could have a root canal that day and had taken off of work wasting my time and money. They also only allow you do pay your bill by writing your card number on the bill and sending it back to them no online portal or nothing. Very unprofessional, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. I went here because I changed insurance and my dentist of many years didn't accept the new insurance. Just 8 months after my previous dental appointment with no problems noted at all, I went to Musgrave for an initial and regular cleaning. He said I needed 4 crowns and 7 fillings! I was shocked and deeply skeptical (I was experiencing no pain and had no concerns). I went back to my trusted dentist who said I needed NOTHING! Talk about upsale! I've never experienced the amount of prep for cleanliness before a dentist appointment before. Temp taken (not surprised), wash hands (sure), wash face (umm?), brush teeth (again?), gargle with peroxide water (eww), then fill out this survey. Needless to say, this dentist office is doing their part to keep everyone safe. An interesting experience, but a necessary one to say the least! Wash your hands!! And apparently your face too! My first visit to Dr. Malcom today went wonderful and beyond my expectation. He is very calm and my anxiety disappeared in minute after he came to talk to me. I am willing to go back there for necessary treatment. He accommodates your need and understands your financial situation . At first I met Eva who cleaned my teeth thoroughly and very carefully to wipe and disinfect items she used. I have confidence with her as well as Dr. Musgrave. I left there in good and happy mood. From what little time I spent with Dr. Musgrave he seems to be a fine dentist, but his office staff caused me months of grief. They told me over the phone that they accepted my dental insurance. I did my due diligence and went to that office IN PERSON to present my insurance card prior to making an appointment. A gal in the office seemed familiar with it. "Oh yeah..." I was assured my insurance was accepted there. She did not call the insurance company to verify this or even attempt to get prior authorization, but she was very confident in what she told me. I had no reason to question it, so made an appointment on that basis. I kept that appointment in good faith that it was covered by insurance. Immediately AFTER services were rendered they reneged and told me it was not covered. The gal who had told me the insurance was good before was very apologetic, said it was her fault, and told me to "just go". I did. Three weeks later I received a bill in the mail. I tried to reach out by phone and talked to someone who was not the least bit understanding but, instead, was mean and threatened to turn it over to a collection agency if I did not pay. She would not listen to what I was saying and monopolized the conversation instead. This phone call was a horrible experience. After the third bill arrived, I called the insurance company myself. They said it was wrong of them to bill me without even trying to file a claim. Apparently it was easier for them to bill a senior citizen on social security than to pick up a phone and try to work with the insurance company. The insurance representative was able to determine that Dr. Musgrave's office was in-network after all and called them to inform them of this to their surprise (because they didn't even try to find out). The insurance company told them how to go about filing a claim which they did. The insurance company representative told me I should receive no more bills from them and I could even go back there and be covered (no way, not the way I was treated). A month later I did receive another bill stating that they billed the insurance for just over half and I was responsible for the balance. I refuse to be held responsible for them not doing their job. I felt like I was scammed, lured in with false promises then threatened if I did not pay. I was definitely deceived, then bullied by bill after bill after bill. So I DO NOT recommend this dentist office. Beware!! read more

I went here a few times. I had three main issues with them. 1. No transparency on cost. When I went only for cleaning and exam which are 100% covered my insurance, they still charged me $80 for some extra stuff they did without telling me. 2. Questionable diagnosis. First time I went here Dr. Musgrave gave me a list of teeth that I had cavities on and how much it'd cost to treat them. It said I had about 10 teeth I had to treat and total would be about $500 (I don't remember much). It was hard for me to believe and I went to another dentist back home. My home dentist agreed to one or two of the teeth needing treatment, but said the others were not cavities at all. From this I lost trust in Dr. Musgrave. Hygienist Ray is really cool and nice though. 3. He can get preachy and I didn't like that. He was "disappointed" that I didn't take my wisdom teeth out before starting Invisalign treatment with my orthodontist. I didn't because I went to multiple dentists and some said I didn't have to and I was still unsure. He was going on and on about how what I did was wrong and I didn't appreciate his attitude. read more

If you haven't been to the dentist in a while, and you're dreading it, visit Dr. Musgrave TODAY. This is the first dentist I've been to in 5 years, and I was shocked by how welcomed I felt. I really dreaded telling anyone that it had been 5 years and that they would make me feel embarrassed to come in. BUT THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. Everyone was so nice, and no one even asked how long it had been. I got my cleaning and exam and never once felt judged or out of place. Went here over a year ago. Just wanted an exam and a cleaning. The staff acted friendly at first, but they, and the doctor pressure you into doing a lot of work: very frequent cleanings, and excessive (in my opinion) dental work. I know 70% of dental offices do the same thing, but not all. Anyway, I was on a budget, and when I showed a lack of enthusiasm to come in that frequently or do the full range of recommendations the staff's facial expressions shifted from wide-gleaming-smiles to some kind of facial expression medieval people would make towards lepers. And if you switch to another dentist and want them to send or email your X-rays, they'll ask you to come in and sign a "release form", they offer no more convenient way to do that, like via email for example. read more

Terrible service. I don't know if it just the culture or the environment there but it seems to foster rude behavior. The Dr. never had my up to date records and was very short and impatient. He'd made a lot of assumption and seemed to never know what was going on. I had to correct multiple times and he assumed I was lying and acted like he didn't know what I was talking about and didn't even have the decency to admit he was wrong or apologize. I called yesterday to get my dental records and the receptionist was just as rude and tried her hardest to talk me out of getting me a copy of my medical records. It's been 24 hours and I have still not received my release form she said she would email me. I had to reschedule my appointment with my new dentist because of their neglect to send me my request. After 6 years this is why I am leaving. I've never had a good experience here and wouldn't recommend this location to anybody. I've even spoken to my family about changing dentists. read more

I was referred by a very good friend and was told this place was amazing. It was NOT !! I had an appointment for over a month and received two text messages to confirm. One text two hours before the appointment I show up as scheduled and the guy said to me as I walked in "oh you are new " I can't see you today because the doctor is out. Then the lies began he said we have been trying to reach you but couldn't. I said well you have been texting me and then he blamed another employee. I left after wasting my time and a month of waiting fir this appointment. Then I got a text message with more lies. I moved to Tucson about a year ago and I was nervous about finding a new dentist in town. My dentist up in Phoenix was so wonderful I figured I'd never find anyone as good as he. A good friend of mine actually recommended her long-time dentist Dr Musgrave. I am so happy I came here. The office staff is sweet and efficient. It's not overly difficult to get an appointment and they have good hours. They never try to push products and services on you (some dentist offices feel like high-pressure vacuum salesmen these days). The doctor is thorough.
