I have had a lot of dental work done over the years (several cavities filled and an implant from a tooth I knocked out in my youth) and so I know how important it is to find a dentist that is not only likeable but competent. Dr. Hicks came highly recommended from everything I read on the internet. Luckily I was not in any hurry for a new patient appointment (just due for a cleaning and did not have any issues to report) because it took several months to get me in. If I had a more urgent issue they may have taken additional steps to get me in sooner--not sure, as that wasn't the case for me. My appointment started promptly. The hygienist assigned to me was kind and did a great job taking x-rays and cleaning my teeth. Dr. Hicks was friendly and professional. I have had some dentists that try to sell me nonsense cosmetic crap for my teeth, and was glad that Dr. Hicks and her team did no such thing. Everyone in the office was upbeat and friendly: you can tell the staff is treated well, because the morale is high. I would recommend Dr. Hicks to anyone looking for a new dentist.

Having had extensive procedures in several other parts of the country (including several crowns and an implant that were well done by my previous provider, in San Diego), I was unsure I'd find an office in Tucson that could match the level of expertise I've had elsewhere. Dr. Mitchell made that simple -- he not only has excellent depth in general and aesthetic dentistry but is also just an incredibly nice person. I'm someone who experiences major anxiety in the chair, and I've found Dr. Mitchell's easygoing demeanor a huge relief. I also appreciate that the hygienist is extremely respectful and patient-focused. For instance, I'd had my last bitewings eleven months before, and before my arrival, she had noticed that and double-checked with my insurance to ensure I was eligible, but more important, she also asked me if I would prefer to have them a little early or wait until my next visit. It's completely refreshing to have the staff ask what the patient wants, instead of trying to push services or products. Another major advantage is the office itself -- located on Grant Road (north lane, next door to Black Rock Coffee, just across the street from the Mercedes Benz dealer and slightly west of the post office), the building has ample covered parking, and the interior capitalizes perfectly on stunning views of the Catalinas, with several exam chairs facing straight out to the gorgeous scenery...just another way to feel relaxed and happy in a place dedicated to making you flash your best smile!

I saw Dr. Daggett on Wed, 30 April for a tooth cleaning…read more Unfortunately an upper filling popped out when the tech was flossing my teeth. He promptly had Dr. Daggett come in. Dr. Daggett then very expertly repaired my tooth, after finding the tooth was in good shape, by diligently working on the tooth and the filling and replaced it, saving my tooth. You know you are valued as a patient when the staff remember you and your stories even though you only see them (normally) twice a year! He is patient and explains things very well. He is caring and considerate when working on my teeth. I've had checkups, cleaning, crowns, a dental implant and a bridge done there. They have an emergency number if you have a problem over the weekend or when they are closed. They aren't afraid to refer you for care if you need something they don't do. I'm typically seen within a few minutes of arrival. I'm very happy with the service I've had there.

Growing up in New York City and working for many years in Los Angeles I had the good fortune to be seen by and have work done by some of the best dentist in the USA. I moved to Tucson 10 years ago but for many years I kept traveling to see my great dentist and doctors in LA. As I love Tucson so much it became harder and harder for me to leave Tucson even for a day. I love it here. So my wife found a local dentist Doctor Jonathan Icely online through Yelp. Nothing against Yelp but I would have preferred a referral from someone I personally trusted. I had no luck asking the few people I know here. To be frank about my feelings, from my first visit with Dr. Icely, I was not impressed or comfortable with him. Or for that matter comfortable with most of his staff. The office felt sad. To me, Dr. Icely felt unimpressive in every way and nothing I noticed about him seemed to reflect talent, thoughtfulness, passion or competence. In my opinion he was not on par with any of the many great dentist I have been lucky to be seen by in my life. In spite of my negative gut feeling about Dr. Icely I returned again to this office. Again leaving with the same bad feeling. After a few visits I listened to my screaming gut, never returned again and looked for someone better. Thankfully I found someone great As a point of interest, my very strong negative feelings and opinions of Dr. Icely were much further reinforced during my first visit to my new great dentist. The contrast of talent thoroughness and mood was staggering compared to Dr. Icely's sad dark office packed with an overfed unhappy female staff. "hygienist" Nicole, to me, in my opinion reflected the worst of today's employed American women. My opinion is Doctor Icely is a sub par, odd, uncomfortable and well below average dentist. His office depressing. I felt uncomfortable with his unfriendly untalented staff. I felt strong I must leave Doctor Icely's care simply to save my teeth, save my peace of mind and love life again. What I am saying is I do not recommend Dr. Jonathan Icely or anyone from Catalina Foothills Family Dental. I feel you deserve better and better is easy to find.
