Dr. Nguyen and his staff practically saved my life! I had been putting off my loose molar and abscess for several months because my family and I had to travel across the country from NH to AZ to take care of my 94 y.o. father-in-law. My dental condition became so severe that my lower jaw started hurting and the adjacent cheek became very swollen. I was unable to eat or swallow without pain. My husband called several dental offices in the area and his calls were unanswered (these were "dental emergency" phone numbers) until Zoe answered the phone. At first, they were not able to see me, but then she called again and told us they had a cancellation that afternoon (on a Saturday). Dr. Nguyen told me I needed to have the tooth pulled at that time, but my BP was very high. Was told to go back on Monday when my blood pressure stabilized and had the deed done! Dr. Nguyen was very knowledgeable and kind. I was terrified being in a dental chair with my mouth open, hearing the scraping sound of metal against bone. Zoey helped by rubbing my shoulder during the procedure and Dr. Nguyen would stop and inject more pain medication whenever I winced. Opted to have a bone graft for a future dental implant. I've been a patient at La Cholla Dental Group because I've always appreciated the care provided. However, my recent visit was very disappointing. I arrived early for my scheduled appointment after adjusting my work schedule and traveling about 40 minutes. Despite this, I was asked to wait well beyond my appointment time, with no clear estimate of when I would be seen. After waiting approximately 30 minutes (and being told it would be longer), I had to leave due to other obligations. I understand delays can happen, but better communication and respect for patients' time would be greatly appreciated. As a new patient, the appointment desk explained on the phone, the dentist needs to pre exam before an appointment is made to clean my teeth. I was also informed my dental plan would not be charged for this pre exam and neither was I to be billed. That did not happen and I was charged for the pre exam. Dentist was nice but the front desk said go to someone else...which I am doing... Be aware of this if you are a new patient. Never going back. read more

This office is located at the Lee Lee's International Market Shopping Center. The only dental office in the center. Place is small, but they have nice staff working there. The doctor is really nice, very accommodating, thorough and you feel like you're not looked at as just a number. They treat you with utmost respect. Definitely recommending this place. The girl in the front office ruined my day, my mom and I went to check in and she told us our appointment was for 11am and I told her my mom's appointment was at 9am and she said the dentist was currently in an appointment with another patient and asked if we could come back at 11, I took out my appointment card and showed her that my mom's appointment was at 9am and I wanted to do it now and she didn't even care what i said, didn't admit her mistake and still picked up the phone to schedule another appointment with another patient. Very friendly staff and pleasant environment. I love that I didn't have to wait a long time. I was in a chair within 5 minutes of my scheduled appointment time. The Dr is super polite and he did a nice job explaining my dental condition and making recommendations for treatments. Not pushy at all. I went back for a cleaning and it was painless and quick. I had a very bad experience with this clinic. They canceled my appointment at the last moment in early Dec, and could not give me another one this year, which means I have to waste my second free cleaning from insurance this year. The front desk is very rude with this canceling, too. This is not my first unpleasant experience with this clinic. A few months ago, they tried to charge me more money than expected for cavity fillings. But I did not pay that day. The bill arrived very soon, and I talked the issuance company. Finally, the insurance helped to deal with this. I did not pay anything beyond what I am supposed to pay. One more thing, I had cavity filling six months ago. Now it is peeling off. I am not the first one sharing this experience with them. I saw another case in the post. This makes me highly suspicious about their skills for dental treatment. I was going to complain this during this visit. It seems that I have no chance any more. I am no longer willing to work with them in the future. Dr. Nguyen is very gentle. He is very understanding that dental places are not the most comfortable places to be in the first place, but he makes you feel comfortable. I go to Liz for my cleaning. She is super thorough and I always feel that my teeth are brand new when I see her. I had braces for 3 years and wasn't as good about flossing as I should've been. I finally got my first two cavities after I took them off. Dr. Nguyen and his staff were prompt and efficient. I had an amazing experience at La Cholla Dental. This dental office was recommended by a friend. I live 40 minutes away and I can easily say it was worth my drive. The staff was incredibly nice and fast! I sat down for 2 minutes after filling out my paperwork, before I was called back. My hygienist was Kenneth and he was so professional, educated and gentle, he walked me through the entire cleaning process and was fast yet patient. Dr. Nguyen was the sweetest Dentist I've ever had. On an early Friday evening, I had some extremely intense tooth pain that was unbearable. I was new to Tucson, and I hadn't yet established a regular dentist. I saw that this location was open on weekends, and when I called to schedule, they were able to squeeze me in the next morning due to the intensity of the pain. The office itself looked a little small, but I was in dire need of some relief. Dr. Nguyen was extremely kind, soft spoken, and very patient. After a few x-rays, I found out that I needed a root canal, and they scheduled me to come in a week later. The root canal itself wasn't as terrible as I thought it'd be, and I was relieved that the pain was finally gone. I visited this office for other regular dental checkups because of how professional the dentist was, and I'd definitely recommend him to anyone. read more

I had great difficulty finding the perfect dental office in Tucson and I'm very glad I came across Dr. Nyugen. In terms of dental work, I have great confidence in the skills of the dentist as well as his staff. I have had several fillings and cleaning procedures done and so far it has all been done without any pain or incidence and I felt that I was in good hands. I never had to wait more than 15 minutes to be in the dental chair. Unlike many dental offices I have been to, I find their billing to be clear, ethical, and direct. His staff is very friendly and personable as well. Personally, I don't need/want to be in a dental office with massage chairs, view of the mountains, fancy TVs/Ipads, and have my hand held. If you're looking for a dentist who is skilled, nice, employs great staff, has your best interest in mind, timely, bills clearly and fairly, and is direct about what needs to be done, come here. read more

Nothing but good things to say about Dr Nguyen and his staff. I called Saturday morning to see if I can be seen to extract a tooth. They were able to get me in an appointment same day, and pulled that sucker out. Dr. Nguyen was so kind, courteous, and gental as well as his dental assistant, I'm sorry I do not remember his name, the gentleman with purple hair. Iris was amazing and explained everything to me so that there was no imanbiguity as far as co-pays and insurance coverages. Literally the procedure was painless. I am so impressed that they now have a new patient for life and will refer Dr. Nguyen to all my friends family and the folks whom read this review. Nothing but great things to say about Dr. Nguyen and his staff. His hygienist is very good and friendly. My first appointment there seemed very thorough and I was really pleased. The last couple times I was there, the scheduled time for my cleaning appointment seemed to be short. The hygienist seemed rushed, although she is very nice. I prefer to have my gums checked every time I am seen, last time I did not. Again, Dr. Nguyen is great. I recommend his practice but could not give 5 stars because I feel there is a scheduling problem. The hygienist was running late with the appointment before mine, I'm sure it affected the time and efficiency of my appointment. Extremely unprofessional of them since they used my insurance to pay for all my dental x-rays for the 3 years it is covered. I love the dentist and the office. What I like most about the office is it's hours. He has availability until 7pm & is also open on the weekends! It's also very neat & clean. Dr. Nguyen is very gentle & professional. Regardless of whether you have insurance or not, he will work a payment plan out with you. The only con is the office staff. If he fires all of them, I might just consider returning & paying off my treatment plan. The office staff ( dental assistants, hygienist, & receptionist ) all make me very uncomfortable. We agreed on a payment plan & price for my treatment over the phone. Following my appointment, the price and length of time that I would be paying increased because one of them couldn't do simple math. I also noticed that they will argue with me over what my insurance covers and what it doesn't, even though I know my plan very well. It usually takes them reading it over multiple times before they understand. Usually, their only response is "oh, well most insurance plans don't cover this". Anyways, I'm done dealing with them. I've been here several times and have yet to write a review. I really enjoy coming here and feel very comfortable having Dr. Nguyen work on my teeth. I personally HATE going to the dentist and trust me, I suffered the consequences prior to coming here. One of the reasons I hate going to the dentist is because of how long I've gone without getting several cavities or fillings repaired and the embarrassment you may face having someone look at your mouth and tell you how messed up your teeth are. But, luckily for me, I found Dr. Nguyen who is very (and I mean very) soft spoken, polite, gentle, and straight to the prognosis. He worked out a payment plan for me for what my insurance didn't cover. thanks to him I actually have a smile I can be proud of. Another very important reason I gave that extra 5th star is because they were able to get my boyfriend in after chipping his FRONT tooth the next morning right before our trip to San Diego. What a relief! Front staff is friendly and very knowledgable, front waiting area could use a water dispenser and maybe some fish in the fish tank. Lol. Back office is extremely clean. Hygienist did a deep cleaning of my gums and was very thorough and gentle. So all in all a 5 star true Yelp find! Will be back when I'm in town again. read more

Just moved to Tucson. Got terrible toothache. Called La Cholla Dental Group and Iris said to come over right away. When I arrived, she suggested a Dental Plan (my wife and I signed up when we got home that day - great savings!). Dr. Nguyen examined me right away, said my mouth was infected and I needed an extraction. Gave me antibiotics and pain prevention prescription and set appointment for extraction on the next Sunday (yes, they're open on Sundays!). He was gentle, concerned and professional and removed the offending tooth with no pain. We chose this dental clinic because of the payment plans they offer. The dentist has done a good job. I had a root canal and a few cavities filled. The only thing we had issues with was the receptionists/billing supervisor. It seems they don't know what they're doing. They couldn't give us a final summary of billing and kept changing what we owed. We just wanted to pay it off and we couldn't get a straight answer. After we were quoted what we owed on the phone, we received a bill for something different. Just a headache dealing with the front "billing". read more
