I don't typically write reviews regarding healthcare because there are so many variables and the experience is so personal. What I can say is that the music is current, the office looks like it opened yesterday (even though it's been around for some years), and the latest dental tech is being used. I geeked out on all the cool gadgetry. I love the software they use for medical history, scheduling and billing. It appeals to my paperless lifestyle. Dr. Kun and his staff are efficient and effective. My time was not wasted and I hope, as a patient, that I showed them the same courtesy. I was left in constant light pain bouncing between my gums and teeth for a month straight after this procedure. After thinking it was over, it simply started going into remission and flaring up every few days in my front upper gums. It is currently May 28th, and it has been almost 4 months from this procedure and these pains are still flaring up constantly. If the hygienist couldn't even clean the tartar that is visible to the naked eye on my teeth, it's scary to think what she was doing under my gums where it's impossible to see. Avoid this place. What should have been just a regular simple teeth cleaning, turned into ongoing pains months out and at this stage I'm not sure if it's here to stay for the long haul. read more

On my first visit, it took two hours to get x-rays and exam. He told me I had a cavity underneath the crown that I have and to replace the crown it would cost $1200 and I know the prices that my insurance pays that I can get a crown for $400 but he tells me all I could get is a $1200 crown or a $300 crown that is silver not porcelain color. Solstice insurance customers should look elsewhere. This review is from a solstice customer perspective. For everyone else: friendly staff, competent dentist. Way more professional than Miramonte Dental Group. If you are provided two choices of Grant Road or Miramonte then take Grant Road every time. If you have a third option, then there may be a case to consider the third option. If you are a solstice customer and if they recommend a deep cleaning then RUN OUT OF THE OFFICE. You NEED a second opinion. Even if you do ultimately need a deep cleaning, make the extra trips and make sure another dentist (or two) have confirmed this. With Solstice a deep cleaning establishes an existing condition which means an additional $288-$920 (closer to $920 in my case) in required costs over the next two years (and it's at least two years, possibly longer). Grant Road did not explain this prior to the deep cleaning. They only mentioned the cost of the initial deep cleaning, not the required additional charges that are now mandatory with every future visit because you now have an established cause for pre-existing condition. For solstice customers, you should request either no fluoride or request the D1208 Fluoride option. Grant Road just went and used the D1206 Fluoride without providing any explanation and so I had to pay an extra charge. Summary: I am kind of stuck with this dentist through the calendar year because of my insurance and I may choose to stick with them for two years only because of my limited ability to find another dentist. Grant Road is not affordable and Grant Road is not transparent. However, I do believe that at least they are competent (which is more than I can say for Miramonte-- AVOID MIRAMONTE in any scenario). read more

My husband and I have both had separate poor experiences at this office. Scheduling is a nightmare and there is no communication. They do not respect their patient's time. One example below: When I showed up for my cleaning appointment that had been scheduled 4 months earlier, the dentist had already left for the day. I was not notified that the dentist was not at my appointment until the hygienist had finished cleaning my teeth. At check out, I was told that I would need to come back in the next week to see the dentist and get X-rays. I had already taken off work that week to go to my scheduled appointment, so I was unable to take off again within the same week. I was told the dentist missed my appointment as he had a personal appointment that he had to leave early for that day. There was no communication of this prior to my appointment. Frustrating as there is a fee for patients who cancel within 24-48 hours, but the office lacked the consideration to notify me of the dentist canceling. read more

My advice is to RUN away from this office!! They are super shady and essentially stole money from me and won't return it. I started going to this office in November 2022. Dr. Kun is great, I have no problems with him. It is the office manager and the way they handle their patient and insurance payments I have a problem with. I had over $11,000 worth of work done in 3 months & paid over $3600 out of my pocket, even with 2 insurance coverages. Based on what I have paid, the negotiated insurance rates, and what my insurance companies have paid this office owes me over $2500. They are stating they only owe me about $430. The office manager came up with some story about how they charge an "up charge" for same day crowns and insurance doesn't cover it. They never disclosed this information, nor was it spelled out in anything I signed the days I had crowns placed. The manager is terrible to deal with so I asked to speak to her regional manager. That regional manager has been "calling me back" now for over a month. Nobody can seem to find this so called regional manager when I call about the fact she is not calling me back. I would highly recommend Dr. Kun as long as you don't have to deal with the insurance side of things. read more

They haven't had a hygienist for a long time and kept cancelling or rescheduling my appointment. I ended up being a year over due. Previously I've had great experiences here so I decided to wait it out. I checked in today and they called me back to the chair. They didn't confirm my full name or date of birth and when I was sat in the chair took my blood pressure and put the bib on . After that they began asking me to review the medications on file. All of them didn't look familiar and I let them know what I was on. They then pulled up the x rays which again didn't look familiar. I saw the name in the top left hand corner and informed them that they had the wrong file up, that the name they had was indeed not me. Finally they get the correct file up and ask if I want water before I am numbed. I was confused by the question cause I didn't realize a cleaning meant I needed to be numbed. I then mentioned that my X-rays were over a year old and the staff member let me know it was fine since I was getting a filling. At the moment I was in shock and said I'm not getting a filling I'm here for a cleaning. The staff member alerted another hygienist and they told me to go wait in the lobby. After a few minutes I realized I didn't feel comfortable having them continue care since they almost numbed my mouth along with performing a procedure I didn't need. I informed the office manager I would like my appointment canceled and would no longer want to receive care. After struggling to get an appointment here and then this crazy experience I will not be returning. After this issue the dentist Dr Kun called me the next day to apologize. I've never had issues with Dr Kun before but due to this experience I will not return. read more

Dr. Kun is great. I cracked a crown, came in for an appointment to replace it and he got it done same day. He took the time to show me what it would look like beforehand on a computer model after 3D scanning my teeth, and really cared about it matching my other teeth and looking natural (the previous crown from another dentist did not.) I also have major dentist anxiety, but I was very relaxed here and didn't need meds or laughing gas. I was referred here by my family and will definitely continue going here. read more

They are a fine dentist, but they don't have the staff to meet their commitments to you and actually care for you. I was scheduled to have my 6 month appointment with them in May. I got a call the day before telling me they didn't have a hygenist, that they would hire one ASAP, and that they would get me later in the summer. It is now the end of October, and it's almost a year from my last appointment. I called them asking when exactly they would get me in, and they told me the earliest was the end of January! And they had the temerity to tell me that was a favor because I had called in several times! I'm sorry, but if you can't accommodate someone on a 6 month cleaning plan more frequently than every 14 months, don't sign them up in the first place. I'll give them 2 stars because the one time I actually was able to get in with them, I had a pretty good experience. But regular cleanings are a critical part of quality dental care, and if you can't provide that, you aren't a good provider. read more

It was my first time here and I don't want to ever go to anyone else for my dental needs. First off the office is immaculate and the ladies at the front desk were warm and friendly. If you're anything like me you get a bit nervous just stepping into the dentist office. I saw Richard Kun and he was straight to the point in a soft way. He thought about my needs and they didn't pressure me to get any procedure that I wasn't comfortable doing that day (which was a deep cleaning and fillings). If my experience is anything like the standard than be wary. They took my X-rays and then back to a room for consultation. Dr. came into the room to tell me what needed to be done and then the office lady came in to tell me the cost. They both said, "Oh, you have great insurance, it won't cost much at all." The breakdown was roughly $800 for X-rays and good cleaning, of which they told me I'd only pay $174, with insurance covering the rest. Seemed steep but they were nice and I hadn't been to the dentist for 16 years. Cleaning sucked for the pain but was excellent in the end and I gladly paid my bill. Since then I've received two statements in the mail from my insurance. One saying they were sent a bill for around $850 and that I had paid $169, they were going to cover ~$400 and I still owed GRD $300 out of my own pocket. Second statement said Grant Road Dentistry further billed them ~$750, insurance covered $21 and I owe the rest. Not sure what they're up to. I know I've been out of the dentist scene for a while but for whatever reason every doctor and dentist I've been to prior to GRD has had accurate info on my coverage and what it's going to cost me out of pocket. Not sure where the second bill came from either, and there's no way they're as successful as they are and this inept at insurance billing. So, TLDR - cleaning and X-rays for $800? Yikes. Even my $174 copay was higher than some places. Telling me I was covered and would only have to pay $174 and then trying to soak me for another ~$800? It's ridiculous and I'll be looking somewhere else for my wisdom teeth surgery. I shudder to think what that couple grand bill would turn into. read more

I went to GRD for usual cleaning, was never apprised of the $59 new patient deal. Was never told what they were doing, X rays, etc., never got a detailed list of what charges would be. Was told I would have a $50 co pay. Paid the girl. Kun only did 1/2 my teeth, said the insurance would only pay for 1/2, I would have to come back for the other 1/2. Another $50 co-pay. The insurance denied almost all claims, (almost $2k) which he padded with a $100 charge for "teaching me to clean my teeth." I questioned the girl at the second visit, was told they didn't bill the insurance company. I have the insurance denial. I have had my teeth for 80+ years and have never had such a brazen overcharge for what? nothing. Super shady is about the right way to describe this place. Be forewarned. Especially if you're a senior. This practice is running an surcharge scam. Where they want the patient to pay for out-of-pocket surcharges for non existent reasons. Twice they tried to over charge for needless procedures and attach on nefarious reasons. They denied me a routine prophylaxis in lieu of full blown periodontal treatments. I don't have periodontal disease. I had my teeth cleaned 7 months prior and the provider saw no evidence of it. They wanted to charge my insurance $2000 for it plus a $430 out of pocket surcharge. I declined the service. I had informed the dentist that I thought I had a loose crown and would he check it. He denied it was loose. Three weeks later the crown falls out. Went back to him to re-cement crown. My insurance coverage chart stated they would cover the procedure 100% Then the office manager lops on an additional out of pocket for an absurd reason. I walked out again and will never return. Reading some of the other unfavorable reviews here, it appears they have been pulling this scam on other patients. And Dr. Kun was patient (no pun ;-) and persevering, communicating carefully the details of the procedures and working cooperatively to address my needs and concerns while performing the procedures efficiently with minimal discomfort. Absolutely horrible experience. I recently moved to the area and was due for a cleaning so I scheduled an appointment. I was there for over an hour and still didn't get a cleaning. I got the most extensive X-rays that felt unnecessary but was told that's how X-rays are done in Arizona. Then saw the dentist who did a quick exam and offered to take off my permanent bottom retainer that I've been wanting off. Then the next person came in and said it'd be $95 for the cleaning (which should be free through my insurance) and $275 to take off the bottom retainer. They said that the cleaning would be so much extra because I had some gingivitis so they have to do a special cleaning. Literally all I wanted was a normal cleaning covered by my insurance and that wasn't an option. I left and now I have to find another dentist to do the cleaning still. read more

Don't use this dentist. They're dishonest. They try to charge for unnecessary things at every visit, and even with early morning appointments, you're made to wait half an hour or more before being seen. Also, when my son went in for his first visit, the dentist only pretended to clean his teeth. My son basically just got a tooth-brushing and some fluoride varnish, and then we were charged $20 for the visit because our insurance didn't cover the varnish. read more
