I have moved a lot as an adult. One of my least favorite activities after every move is finding a new dentist. I have had a lot of dental work done over the years (several cavities filled and an implant from a tooth I knocked out in my youth) and so I know how important it is to find a dentist that is not only likeable but competent. Dr. Hicks came highly recommended from everything I read on the internet. Luckily I was not in any hurry for a new patient appointment (just due for a cleaning and did not have any issues to report) because it took several months to get me in. If I had a more urgent issue they may have taken additional steps to get me in sooner--not sure, as that wasn't the case for me. My appointment started promptly. The hygienist assigned to me was kind and did a great job taking x-rays and cleaning my teeth. Dr. Hicks was friendly and professional. I have had some dentists that try to sell me nonsense cosmetic crap for my teeth, and was glad that Dr. Hicks and her team did no such thing. Everyone in the office was upbeat and friendly: you can tell the staff is treated well, because the morale is high. I would recommend Dr. Hicks to anyone looking for a new dentist. read more

I have had many dentists throughout my life. Katie and her entire team are head and shoulders above them all! During the first week of the Covid lockdown, I split my tooth in two, it was something that I could not wait on and Katie met me at her office, opened it up and didn't examination. Determined that I needed to go to an oral surgeon to have it removed, and then fitted me with a bridge to get me through until I could get my implant. The minute you walk in the door, you are warmly greeted by everyone in the front office and if anyone wants to say that going to the dentist is a pleasure I will say it is a pleasure to go to that office. This is by far the best dental office in Tucson. The staff is exceptionally helpful, the hygenist is kind, friendly, and very efficient, thorough, and knowledgable. The office staff were incredibly accommodating with scheduling as well. Many times going to any dentist can be an arduous experience especially if there are areas needing attention or that require assistance. Dr. Hicks and hygienist staff always handled areas needing advice or special care in a highly caring and considerate manner. Would recommend the practice to anyone in the Tucson area. read more

I am beyond impressed with Dr. Hicks and her fantastic staff. I moved into town and had an accident leaving my front tooth chipped. I was starting my new job the next day and needed the chip fixed ASAP. I called about 30 dentist, but no one could see me on such short notice. Dr. Hicks stayed open late just for me and fixed my tooth. The Dr put me at ease right away. The filling was painless, and it looks beautiful! I was really looking forward to my appointment at this office as there aren't many female Dentists available and had a good experience with my prior dentist who was a woman. Unfortunately I cannot recommend Mrs. Hicks at ALL. I had an early appointment, I believe I was the first patient of the day, and I had to wait awhile before they brought me in despite being on time. Then I was brought into the patient room and asked about my dental hygiene and the nurse began doing a hard sell on the electric tooth brush display they had set up right there. I explained to the nurse that I wasn't interested in their electric toothbrushes because I felt they were way too expensive and there are some controversial reviews on their efficacy. She continued to push the hard sell and had to tell her multiple times that I wasn't interested, not cool at all. Then I explained that I just wanted a cleaning that day and I did not want X-rays done. I explained that I worked nights and I had been working all night and came right to the office and did not want to be radiated with 10 X-rays to my head. As she was putting on the lead apron she tried to sell me on X-rays over and over saying they were less radiation than standing in the sun, so I asked why the lead apron then... I explained very calmly that I did not want to have Xrays done, and she said well then I'm not sure if we're going to be able to clean your teeth, and I asked Why Not? She did ot give me a straight answer but said that she would have to ask the Dentist, Mrs. Hicks. She apparently called the Dentist and came back to say that they could do a limited set of Xrays, to which I responded that I did not want ANY Xrays and that it was my right to refuse any treatments as a patient. She said I would have to wait and speak to the Dentist. I had to then wait for a half hour for the dentist to arrive, and at one point I sort of muttered under my breath "Jesus", because it was taking sooo long for her to arrive. Then Mrs. Hicks came into the examination room and asked why I didn't want Xrays, to which I explained to her again, and she said they would not treat me unless I got Xrays, to which I explained that it was my right to refuse any treatment and I just wanted to get my teeth cleaned. She said they would not clean my teeth without Xrays, to which I began getting up out of the chair and she stated something like "If you hadn't "sweared" to her nurse they might be more accommodating" to which I asked, What did I say, and she said you said "Jesus"...??? Are you kidding me...?? This is ridiculous!! So I left the office and said "JESUS!!!" on the way out... This is NOT the way to treat customers!! There is absolutely no reason a person needs ten Xrays on their mouth and its clear that they are just scamming people's insurance to make more money. DO NOT patronize this establishment and Do Not allow them to perform treatments that you do not agree with, this is your Civil Right. Extremely Disappointed. WWJD???? read more

Dr. Hicks has such a fun, easy going personality that makes going to the dentist actually fun! Who can say that about going to the dentist!? I would recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, honest, great dentist in Tucson. I came from another dentist who had recommended extensive treatment and Dr Hicks has a more conservative approach, which I LOVE! She will tell you what you do need, but also will tell you what can wait. Her hygienist, Angelica is also amazing! She is very gentle and makes your cleanings a breeze! I have interned at Katie's office for 2 years now and every patient leaves happy. Katie is honestly so wonderful! She is so outgoing and very diligent in her work. Her personality really shines and she also does a great job clinically while keeping your best interests in mind. Something really great about her is that she is very conservative in practice, so you won't be getting any treatment you don't need! She is also amazing with kids as she has 3 of her own.
