I implore anyone and everyone looking for a dentist to not use this office and I cannot emphasize that enough. They push their in-house crowns and they are very poor quality. I didn't know better at the time and my husband and I both got one on a back molar. Mine lasted two years before it cracked and my husband's 2.5 years and it cracked. Because they're under five years old, the insurance won't cover new ones. We are out thousands and thousands of dollars. When you talk to credible dentists, they say they would never put a crown of that nature on such a large molar. Porcelain only but at simply smiles they want to take as much money for themselves as possible and not give it to the lab. They also will fudge measurements to try to get deep cleanings done. Our insurance didn't agree with them and it became a whole thing with noncoverage and us owing more money than was estimated m. They started out nice to us, but once that insurance issue came, they became very mean and uncaring. I have been seeing Dr Valencia and hygienist Tiffany for nearly a decade since I moved to Tucson. I have had a variety of care at the office from crown replacements to fillings, regular cleanings and night guards. No matter what the problems have been they have always been supportive in explaining how to fix it, what the realities are and what viable options exist to get longterm quality results. The front office is very efficient in check in, scheduling appointments and assisting with any financial questions. I went to simply smiles dentistry for years with my family of 7. I had multiple issues while there that I did not feel the need to make a review because they were resolved. However I have not been there in at least 3-4 years and they called me with an outstanding balance(about a year after the last visit) I paid giving them the benefit of the doubt (over $300). Well I am now just starting to receive more notices of more outstanding balances. I would recommend finding a dentist who handles their claims a lot better than here. read more

Got a dental phobia, or afraid of the dentist like I was? Read this review. Most people don't like going to the dentist, but some of us crazies avoid going for 10-15 years. For whatever reason, my body has never responded much to the local anesthetic. It's so hard for me to stay still and relax in anticipation of the pain. Plus, it's terribly awkward laying on your back with people messing around in your mouth. I had the most terrible experience around age 16 with a dentist that I feel like probably didn't know what he was doing. It was at one of those dental chains with 10 dentists, I had never seen the guy before and he barely said a word to me before putting me through the most excruciating hour and a half of my life on just one simple filling. That's where my aversion to dentists really began, call it PTSD, call it anxiety, or maybe I'm just a wimp! Enter Doctor Valencia's office. I didn't even get the courage to make the call until my older neighbors told me about the dentist their kids had been going to for decades. This was enough for me to at least put my distrust of dentists aside. Her kids had the same aversion to dentists I did, and went in with worse problems than me. My lower gums on the front four teeth had been bothering me for some time, enough that I looked up gum recession and learned every day I waited meant more and more permanent damage to the gums, connective tissue and bones beneath. It's called Periodontitis and more than 50% of population over the age of 30 has it to some degree. It's no joke. If you haven't been to the dentist for a long time and aren't flossing daily, do yourself a favor and schedule an appointment. The longer you wait the worse it will be. Better dental hygiene doesn't do any good once the brownish calculus (which I originally thought were stains from my Coffee addiction) builds up and the bad bacteria get a chance to propagate under your gums. During my very reasonably priced initial appointment, I was gagging on the x-rays and anxious as hell. I felt embarrassed and terrified of what Dr. Valencia would tell me I needed done. The staff did an amazing job of comforting me and not making me feel weird (even though I was definitely being weird, LOL). I was sure I'd need all the gnarliest treatments I had looked up online. I was sure getting my dental health in order would require several visits and a world of pain / anxiety. WRONG! Valencia takes a conservative approach utilizing some of the latest technology. I was told I'd need scaling / planing, one composite and a crown. To my surprise, I learned that not only could all of this major work be done in one visit, but there is also a pill called "Halcyon" that basically turns you into a zombie that doesn't even remember anything when it kicks in. The day of my treatment, I was so worked up I basically was powering through my first two pills I took before coming in / arriving. The dental hygienist was so kind and patient with me. After a bit of a rough start she had me take another pill and gave me plenty of time for it to kick in. After this, I don't remember much. Next thing I know, my scaling and planing is done and I'm sitting down when I hear the dreaded sound of the drill spinning up. It snapped me out of my zombie state for a second and the PTSD / anxiety started to poke out its head. "How about that nitrous oxide (laughing gas), doc?" Three or four deep inhales later, next thing I know, I'm walking out of the office. There is no reason to be afraid of the dentist anymore, especially with Valencia and his team. This is the BEST dental office I've ever been to! Everyone employee I've spent time with is an absolute pleasure to be around. Courtney, the front desk lady, has great energy and is genuinely happy to help with any questions I have. Tiffany completed a deep cleaning on me today, and the procedure was painless. My mouth feels 4 times cleaner. The conversation with her was also great - it was like catching up with a good friend over drinks. I choose this Dentist because it was close to my work. The website was informative and making an appointment was easy. They send you all the paper work to your phone. It's easy to fill out so you don't have to manually fill out pages and pages of paperwork in the lobby. The office is nice, clean, and the staff is professional an extremely friendly! The dental hygienist was wonderful! She was super friendly, very personable and made me feel comfortable! The Dentist was awesome! He listened to me and addressed every issue and offered services I have never been offered before by a Dentist! I grind my teeth and I dislike mouth guards so he offered Botox to relax the jaw muscles! GENIUS He also addressed sleep and doing a sleep study! I previously wrote a review about a month ago. Now I find it necessary to update it. Just 1 month after my last posting my crown came off for the third time in a year. I won't even ask them to try fixing it again. 3 Strikes and their out. I requested all my dental records and will go to a Real Professional Dentist. While I was in the office waiting for my records a couple was waiting for their appointment. They had issues with an implant which they had to get fixed. They said they waited 3 months to get the implant made and it cost them $18,000. They weren't too happy about the incompetence of the Dentist. I called the ADA and was told that the Dentist was not a member. My suggestion to anyone looking for a dentist is to STAY AWAY from SIMPLY SMILES DENTISTRY. Go to a known reputable one. read more

I haven't seen a dentist in 12 years. A friend told me about this office and highly recommended it especially for people who have a phobia of going to the dentist. My first moments in the office were warm and welcoming. Tiffany was my dental hygienist and was amazing! She was gentle and explained everything she was doing. It turned out that I needed a few childhood fillings replaced which really gave me anxiety. Dr. Valencia called me in a sedative to take the night before and the morning of and I had absolutely no anxiety while going thru the process. He did a fantastic job! I went in for an exam and and when I wanted to get my x-rays sent over to another dentist I got a whole run around from a person who said she was the dental hygenist. I had called before I went in and they said only one member of staff knew how to get the records out of the computer and she was out sick and I would have to wait until she got back in. Then I went in in person and they would not email them to the person I asked them to (another hygenist). Don't know why. Very short temper. Be warned. read more

I really like the hygienist but this is the third time I've had to wait a LONG time for the dentist to come in to check my teeth. One time was after he had numbed me then didn't come back for the procedure for an hour. My gums were almost no longer numb. The last time the hygienist was finished and I proceeded to wait another 25 minutes for him to come in, however, I got fed up and left. This is an unacceptable way to treat your patients. Dr. Loveland has been our family's dentist for years and he is amazing! I have overcome my fear of the dentist because of him. He never rushes and he makes sure that I am comfortable. Dr. Valencia and staff were wonderful. I found my new dentist. It was amazing to see my X-rays as they were being taken. It was refreshing having a candid conversation about past and present dental experiences and procedures. Also, I am in the last phase of Invisalign and needed to make sure that nothing would impact my treatment and they reassured me today's visit would not hinder that in any way. Also, the billing/cost was very transparent and I appreciate that as part of the health industry for decades, this is an area where many need to improve (I digress). Me & my family have been coming to this dental office for years. The dentist, hygienists, & receptionist are all lovely good hearted people & take pride in their jobs. Everyone at this office is absolutely AMAZING. Im so sad that I recently moved to Florida because I have yet to find a dentist that exceeds the level of expectations that Simply Smiles Dentistry has set. If I could bring that entire office to Florida it would still to this day be my to go to. My experience was not pleasant. First, I had a "free" new patient exam and xrays. It started out nice enough - I met the receptionist, Amy Hernandez, and Dr. Juan Valencia, who seemed nice enough. He gave a thorough exam with both xrays and digital pictures, and pointed out that there were several cavities starting to form, of which he recommended taking care of as soon as possible. He showed us the xrays and photos, pointing out what he was seeing. He seemed honest enough, and conveniently, I had just enough "insurance dollars" to match the recommended procedures (looking back, this should have been the first red flag). Fast-forward, and I noticed Simply Smiles had billed the insurance for my "free" new patient exam and xrays... not just once, but twice. Under both doctors for the office: Dr. Loveland (whom I have never met), and Dr. Valencia (who I did see). This seemed strange, but we didn't directly mind as long as it was legitimate and didn't affect my out-of-pocket expenses -- after all, he did provide the exam and xrays. As a side note, I did contact the office about this, and Amy stated they are contractually obligated to bill the insurance. Honestly, I don't think the insurance would mind -not- being billed for a procedure, heh, but alright. Hindsight is always 20/20, but in this case, I should have realized what ended up appearing as more of a "cash grab" as far as the recommended fillings. I have had regular cleanings at another dentist and these were never brought to my attention. Further, throughout my life, I have had very few fillings. Regardless, I went with the benefit of the doubt, and trusted in what Dr. Valencia said during my initial exam. I went through with the eight recommended fillings, after being "promised" I was within my annual "insurance dollars". Next up, after arriving at the office, they provided a new, more expensive estimate. I forget the receptionist' name on this day, but she didn't seem to be aware of my original estimate, and was unable to explain why there were discrepancies. I was required to (and did) pay this more expensive estimate and had the fillings done, figuring I would follow-up with Amy, who provided the original, after-the-fact, to set things straight. To be fair, I have a smaller mouth, and eight fillings is a fair amount to do in one sitting. However, Dr. Valencia slipped with the drill and ended up causing a small gash in my mouth. I knew immediately (even being under local anesthetic) -- lots of blood (yuck!), but he did not say a word about it to me... at minimum, I would hope for an "oops, sorry", but there was no response. Nada. Accidents do happen, but I found the lack of acknowledgement extremely unprofessional. Fast-forwarding once again, Amy told us that I would need to wait for the insurance claim to go through to figure out the actual numbers, as what the office provides is "just an estimate". Eventually, the insurance went through, and once again, did not go as planned. Simply Smiles sent in the claim as 'out of network' -- even though they are in-network with my provider, Humana, and correctly processed the first claim as such. After noticing this, we followed up with Amy once again. After receiving the insurance claims back, she happily let us know that I was at a zero balance on our account (however, remember, I believed to have overpaid with the second estimate earlier on -- no mention was made of this). After a bit more back-and-forth, she provided a refund in the amount discrepancy -- however, she seemed irritated with all of the questions being asked. I really don't know if they just have problems filing insurance paperwork or what (they shouldn't, per their experience stated on Simply Smiles website), but it smells more of fraud after seeing two blatant billing mistakes -- the first of which was a double charge by the two doctors in the office (on top of the fact that the exam/xrays were supposed to be free), and then the "out of network" claim that they processed for the fillings (which, should I have not gone back-and-forth and received the refund, would have been extra $$ in their favor, from my pocket). The one plus-side to this experience is that Amy did communicate with me via email, though she seemed perturbed/annoyed that we were questioning the numbers from the start, and in particular, when we called them out on the difference in numbers after all was said and done. The difference was $62 - not a lot in the medical world, and maybe not a lot to her, but that is a big difference to the everyday person like me. I will not be returning, which is unfortunate. I had hoped to find a new dentist near my home (I recently moved), and above that, one that could do extractions, implants, and crowns in the same office... however, I only have one mouth, and simply can't trust this office which appears to prefer the Mighty Dollar over patient happiness and satisfaction. read more

Everything was amazing! They were amazing to schedule with, especially because I live out of the country. The staff was all smiley and laughing which really helped me feel comfortable. The receptionists were both happy and nice (so sorry I forgot your names!), my dental assistance Jules was such a pleasure! She was speedy quick with the dental radiographs and a pleasure to talk to! I am really upset at this facility for several reasons.. one is catching Dr. Valencia in a lie saying that my bridge was not broken when in fact it was broken just to avoid re-doing my bridge. The bridge broke only a year after it was put in. Second and the most humiliating is that fact that they sent me to a collection agency on June 17th, 2020 for $45.00. Very upsetting because they sent me the original bill of $45.00 on May 18th, 2020......soooo they sent me to collection after waiting only ONE month for payment... I highly recommend anyone looking to set a dental appointment to call Simply Smiles. I booked an appointment with Dr Valencia at Simply Smiles Dentistry after my crown (put on years ago by my previous dentist) popped off. Simply Smiles' office is located at the Southwest corner of Speedway and Pantano in the completely repurposed space at the north end of the complex. Dr Valencia and Amy were friendly, professional, and took care of me from the moment I walked in until I was out the door. The facility is top notch. All new interior and equipment including full computer screens at the patient chair so you can look at instantly look at your x-rays and digital photos as Dr Valencia or his staff explain what they are seeing. It was a far cry from my past experiences with the old backlit x-rays on the wall. I'm sure everyone has their preference but, for me, I appreciated the explanation Dr Valencia provided in reviewing my situation and our course of action. Amy and Dr Valencia took care of my procedure and I was so pleased with their communication and the final results. During my visit I noticed a range of patients in the rooms around me and in waiting room -- from families with young children to older couples so it seems they can take care of pretty much anyone. This is my first, and possibly last review I will write. I have never been comfortable going into a dentist office. I have been to a few different offices but I mainly used Gentle Dental for many years. I finally took the initiative to find a new office after being dissatisfied with the previous dentist office for so long. When I first came in to see what Simply Smiles was like, I was instantly comfortable with their office setting and immediately greeted by their staff with very pleasant personalities. After finding out they took my insurance, I went home with the office paperwork to have an appointment the very next day. When I returned, they were again, very pleasant and eager to help me find where the problem lied in my teeth. After a set of x rays and a quick, efficient exam, Dentist J. Loveland had a few explanations for me. I was very nervous and upset with the news I was given, however he let me voice my concerns and many, many questions and put me more at ease. When that was done, I scheduled another appointment with them again, the very next day. Back again, great attitudes all around, I was incredibly nervous about feeling pain through my 3 cavities and extraction to be done all on my right side. They made sure I was comfortable, asked if I had any questions or concerns, then numbed me up (generously, too!), went to work and it was over before I knew it! No pain throughout the procedure! This office is fantastic and I hope they never change because I will be back! Even when there are more patients around, I never felt like they rushed their work on me, which I always felt at my previous dentist. I originally saw Dr. Loveland, who is great btw. I switched to Dr. Valencia as I ended up getting a consult and proceeding to do Simply Smiles braces. After going every two weeks for 9 months, I feel like I really got to know everyone especially Belinda and Barbara! My teeth were pretty overcrowded, with a crossbite and I've always felt self conscious about smiling in pictures. I admit to being nervous and slightly skeptical the whole time that the changes would be that significant. However, I look amazing!! He did quite a bit of cosmetic finishing to make my front teeth look straight, as due to overcrowding some teeth were just smaller than others. I am so happy with the results and my services I have received here. Best dentist office I've been too, hands down. read more

If I could give zero or negative stars I would. I will try to make this as brief as possible. Went in for a crown, they did the core buildup slapped a temporary on it and sent me on my way with no care instructions other then "dont floss there". Within 2 days the whole side of my face is swollen, have a fever and my gums are oozing. They give me a course of antibiotics and have me come in. During that visit they didnt even analyze my infection they just test fit my crown, put the temp back on and sent me on my way. Couple days later they put the permanent crown on and have me leave. Out of concern for the persistent swelling and pain, I get a second opinion. I find out tooth is abscess, the crown isn't even seated correctly and there is a gap between crown and my tooth letting bacteria in and making it worse. After 4 months, 9 appointments (2 of which were root canals), 3 missed days of work and $2000 the damaged Dr Valencia caused has finally been repaired. Which by the way when they went to replace the crown they gave me it popped off so easy it startled the dentist because it got suctioned up. Also, it took them 4.5 hours to do a filling and HALF a cleaning on my husband. Not even the whole mouth, which I found out from the new dentist my insurance does in fact cover unlike they told us. read more

This place is phenomenal. As a person who's had a lifelong aversion to the dentist, and a sensitive mouth to boot, naturally I was afraid to visit after two years without dental insurance. My fears and anxieties were unfounded, however. The hygienist Jayme was great, and Dr. Loveland was very nice and easy to talk to. Pros: Very friendly and calming staff. Dr Loveland is very approachable and takes the time to listen to you. I also really like that it's not a corporate chain, therefore customer service is top notch. Cons: No TV / video game / play area for kids (I hear they're hoping to add something soon). Posters with scary dental procedures or conditions (I know they likely get some advertising money for it, but titanium screws into someone's jaw is a bit disconcerting in the waiting room...). I hate going to the dentist. I have had anxiety about my teeth for as long as I can remember. They are super sensitive and I also have an embarrassingly low pain threshold. I just moved to Tucson this year and the idea of seeing a new dentist was terrifying, but I also noticed a crack I could feel in one molar and I knew I just had to go. I chose Simply Smiles because they had high reviews... I know I am not an easy patient. It is rare that I make it through a dental appointment without crying, usually the product of minor discomfort multiplied by fear and anxiety. From the first time I stepped into the office I was impressed by the quality of patient care provided by the receptionist, dental assistants, and the hygienists. They are all very kind, warm, and comforting. Then I met Dr. Loveland who told me I needed a crown. Of course I cried. I never once felt belittled or ashamed to be afraid and Dr. Loveland took the time to explain everything and offer warm encouragement. They were also willing to work with me regarding my own pain level... I had an amazing experience and I will be going back for scheduled cleanings from here on out! My husband hadn't seen a dentist in nearly 6 years and was continously pushing off his wisdom tooth pain. Well the dreaded say came where he couldn't handle the pain anymore. One of his wisdom teeth was driving him crazy. I called the office and they brought him right in and removed it within minutes. Dr. Valencia was very quick and efficient. He made sure my husband and I knew exactly what was going to happen. He removed the tooth that was irritating him but also recommended that he got the other 3 removed as well. He did want my husband to be more comfortable so he recommended that he come back in 2 weeks when the other area was fully healed. Well long story short, my husband now has all of his wisdom teeth removed. It was a long process with how "hooked" the roots were, but Dr. Valencia kept my husband calm and talked him through the whole process. I highly recommend this wonderful office! Everyone is super nice and very friendly! We will definitely be life long patients! read more
