After hearing great things and seeing such rave reviews, I was excited to try Mala Town. Unfortunately I found it to be rather disappointing. Let's start with the pros. There's a decent selection of ingredients, everything was well laid out and clean. It's a fun DIY hotpot concept, upon entering just grab a bowl and tongs and fill it up with your desired ingredients. At the checkout counter, weigh the ingredients and choose your broth. It's a nice alternative to AYCE hot pot, especially for those who don't eat that much. Service is minimal as it's primarily DIY, but they were friendly enough and efficient. They cook the food and bring it out to your table. The ingredients were good and I enjoyed the complimentary jasmine tea. The biggest con for me was the broth itself. The broth is really the focal point of hot pot and it can make or break the meal. I got the mild beef bone broth and found it to be very heavy and overly salty. It was creamy which I didn't expect or particularly enjoy. It was also very orange-looking for beef broth. I thought maybe they gave me tom yum by mistake but it didn't taste like tom yum. In addition, it was pretty spicy for a mild broth. I don't think it tasted terrible, it just wasn't to my liking. Too heavy and salty. My partner got the medium dry pot mix and it was also not what either of us expected. All of the ingredients were cooked and then a sesame and peanut sauce mix was just poured over the top, not mixed in at all and did not have the flavor of a dry pot. We expected it to taste a bit more like a stir fry. The sauce poured over the top was very thick and super salty, making it a goopy mess. It was very spicy but lacked flavor, not good at all. After we left I looked at pictures from other reviewers and the dry pot we got looks very different from what others have gotten at this same place. I don't know why it was so different? Overall I liked the concept and fresh ingredients. I'd like to try malatang again but probably somewhere else.
SOO GOOD!! I loaded my bowl up, they had great options compared to other malatang places, and they even had scallops! The beef slices were tender, the broths were delicious, and the sauce bar was perfect with all the best sauces. The worker was very friendly, and they checked up on us. Also, the complimentary tea was sooo good. It was just the right enough amount of sugar. The restaurant is clean, organized, and they buss the tables quickly after guests leave.
The food is always yummy here at Malatown! Paul is so kind and funny. It's really cute inside as well. I love eating here :)
What I liked most about this place is that they cater to vegetarians. I came here on Sunday with my friends and we all enjoyed our hotpots. The service was friendly and they were eager to please. The complementary tea was a bit sweet but it was nice to have a cool drink on such a very hot day. The hotpot was healthy and delicious, I was able to find exactly what I wanted and the environment was so friendly that it makes me want to return.
Parking: located in a strip mall with parking lot in front of restaurant Service: cafeteria style to fill bowl with choice of meats, veg, and starches. You then pay at the cashier and choose your sauce or soup flavor. Staff was friendly and cleaned our table before assigning us. I loveeee Mala Town!!! Their 50% off promo was very dangerous for me... HAHA As you line up to select what you'd like to be in your bowl, you'll choose what soup base you'd like at the counter as it gets weighed, and once you are seated, there is a bar for you to create your own sauce next to complimentary water and tea. I like the set up of the restaurant! Not only is the food delicious (I personally love the Mild Signature Beef Bone Broth but also have been getting the Sweet & Sour Tomato), the service is always great, and during the super busy times, seating can become limited, but I would say that seating is usually available. Parking may become sparse because of the lot it is in alongside other hotspots in the plaza.
Come to Mala Town now for discount! Mala town has been my go to spot for amazing hot pot that is fully customizable. I love getting the tomato soup base because it is so sweet and tangy that pairs well with a lot of the vegetable toppings. Service is quick, as you pick and grab your toppings then take it to the counter. They have a sauce bar where you can get your spice fixing from chili oil, garlic, chili flakes, etc. Limited time they are offering 50% off every Tuesday and Wednesday!
All over tik tok I see ppl go to build your own hot pot. Cant lie I got severe fomo so I NEEDED to try at least once in my life and I pleasantly had driven to this place. Me and some friends were a lil bit confused on what to do at first as there is nowhere in AZ where we can build our own hot pot but Paul was so kind and showed us how the hot pot process works . We were given a bowl and began loading up. We were told most ppl get 1.5 lbs typically. The bowls are priced via weight with that being $15.99/lb. Yeah I love this. I was so excited I was grab happy and ended up with 2.8lbs regardless I was happy. Everyone I was with all got different broths one being the Szechuan and another being Bone broth. Both were so delicious. We were assigned a table the cooked our hot pot in the back and was brought to our table. My brother unfortunately had been grab crazy and got 5lbs but even after we finished all our food he was happy he could take it home and keep eating. (Mind you we still had to drive to AZ by the time we got back ME AND MY FRIEND DEVOUREDDDDD EVERY SINGLE BUT THAT WAS LEFT). I think me saying I love this place is an understatement I LIVE LAUGH LOVE ESPECIALLY ADORE MALA TOWN The staff members were all so kind and funny. Paul for sure made our experience the best. We told him we come to Vegas often and now this will be our go to. So thank you Mala town for the amazing food and hospitality. a huge thank you from my belly cuz now I craveeeeee mala town. This was such a chill and easy place to get Malatang! They had a variety of options for you to include in your Malatang which I liked. The service was quite friendly too, giving us complimentary drinks. The Malatang itself was filling and tasty, especially with their various options. I enjoyed the meat and cheese balls I had in mine. I'd recommend for any Malatang cravings.
Very clean and so much fun to select from buffet style ingredients station. Also I loved the selection of different types of broth. Customer service was very helpful and polite. They explain how to make it taste as you like. You don't need to be shy, just ask them, and they will help you . Old building but they keep very clean and spacious. Only problem is very hard to get the parking lot. Space is limited. So be prepared for that.
Craving soup and found this gem that offers so many options and best of all you choose your ingredients that you want in your soup. The flavors of all different soup base are very delicious. I got the Tom Yum and had all the flavor you need to pair with any protein and vegetables. Everything in the soup building station looks clean and fresh. When we got to the cashier, she helped us with any questions and also helped us with making a decision with our soup base. Jasmine was at the cashier and she was very helpful and friendly and made the experience at Mala Town so much better and welcoming! Can't wait to be back!!!
I love this place! SUPER GOOD and AMAZING SERVICE! I love going here for both the food and service ALWAYS recommend this to my friends and family and it's such a great place to eat good and catch up! best soup hotpot spot hands down!! i take all my friends here & they all love it. i come at least once a week for sure. staff is always nice & attentive to the orders, & the vibes are nice, always plays music & if it's busy it's fun if it's slow it's chill. i do miss their happy hour deals but it didnt stop me from coming every week. sometimes they don't have all the ingredients i usually get, but i'm always satisfied with my bowl. like my baby corn would love to see bean sprouts get added too or add more ingredients!! thank you jasmine for your hospitality always! read more

This place is mid. The beef came from the F1 track because it can support the cars with how rough and tough it is. They have the nerve to charge $$$$$$ and have not even CHOICE BEEF. We came here bc I have been seeing it all over socials so OFC had to try! It was a little slower when we went. The restaurant itself is a light bright area with a few tables scattered around. I wouldn't say it's a large place but it is a good size. When you walk in you grab a bowl and tongs and go down the line. There is so many options to choose from. I chose all my favs and kinda went overboard on the meats lol. Be careful bc it can get pricey lol once done, you check out with the cashier and she hands you a table number. There's is a fantastic little area with tea, water and a whole bunch of sauces to add/use for your meal. They prepare it pretty quickly and it came out piping hot when they delivered to the table. I definitely want to come back soon as the food was delicious!! Their broth really enhanced all my choices of meat and veggies and noodles. 10/10 read more
I really think the hot pot here is actually really good. My only gripe is that the price here is actually a little more than other competitors. I think at one place I spent $25 to the $35 I spent here for basically the same thing. I think if you're going to charge as much as a AYCE spot then it's probably better to go there. I will say this too the Beef Broth is really good though. read more

This place was pretty clean. When you enter you grab a bowl and tongs. Pick your veggies, seafood and meat. You go to the cashier and weight your bowl and pick your broth. I got the medium Sichuan broth and my husband got the medium bone broth. My broth wasn't as hot as I was expecting so maybe next time I might try the hotter version. My husband on the other hand was sweating from the medium bone broth. Our total for both soups were 60 bucks which is a bit expense but it was good so I thought it was worth it. read more
My Vegas local sister recommended this hot pot spot after a day of shopping in Chinatown, so we came here on a double date. Since it was our first time, she showed us what to do. We grab a bowl and tongs and fill up our bowls with whatever we want in it (veggies/meat/etc). Then we take it to the end where the worker will weigh it and ask what type of broth soup we want. Once paid, they will cook it in the back and bring it to our table! Neat hot pot experience! I remember getting the spicy soup as well as my bro in law, my sister got tomato, and hubby got the chicken broth. The spicy was spicy'n lol. I would definitely come back on a rainy day or take it to go if I'm feeling under the weather because that spicy soup will clear it out if ya know what I mean! read more
A local favorite!!! Actually probably only favorite Chinese type of restaurant in local Vegas!! Spicy dry style is MY FAVORITE!! I RAVE OVER IT!! Super addicted to that sauce!! Packed with flavor! Anyone who loves Indian food, or Sengal West African food because of the delicious amount of spices?! You'll love the dry style! Paul will make you feel welcomed!! He really makes the place, and got us as returning regular customers!! If someone wanted to make their restaurant succeed, they need a Paul in their business!! Tea and water is included! Apparently a friend from China explained mala style is customized food from hot pot to dry. We originally thought malatown was just going to be extremely spicy mala stuff....it's not. We come here at least once a month, and before it was twice a month. We'd use to dine in. And then just started doing takeout cause we're lazy. And sometimes dine in ourselves or with visiting friends. And its super easy to take your sauces and condiments to go. As picky locals, this is our one of our Chinese comfort food places. They've changed a little over time (slight change in broth and ingredients) but it's still great takeout or dine in. They have great takeout containers now too. Any questions? Talk to Paul, he knows everything and great at explaining the process. 1. Broth or Dry Pick? 2. Then what broth/flavor to spicy level. Our picks: Spicy dry mix is our #1. Packed with flavor!! Reminds me of Taiwan's street boiled food in a bag. Potatoe thick noodles are a must with the dry mix. Their fresh made sauce is addicting!!! Or at least I'm an addict for it!! Their mild spicy is pretty darn spicy, maybe considered a medium for me. So good!! This dish is supposed to be paired with a light peanut sauce. But I don't need any sauce when eating this. - I'm a sensitive eater. So I'm shocked I can eat this without issues. Its house homemade, so it's fresh!! Great quality!! Then tomato soup as our #2 (cause Tom Yum no longer exist). Sichuan Broth - Can only be minimally medium spicy. Not as salty than expected which is nice. The SO likes to pick this but ends up overpowered when tasting my dish, and comes back to my dish. Chicken Fish Maw broth - Tasty broth but it's too oily for me. Beef broth - Has dairy so I couldn't try it. But everyone else thought it was a bit light? --- Ingredient notes to self to avoid and get again, on top of our usual... - Potato thick noodle (if get dry mix) - Tripe (they use to have more inners but didn't see as much this time) - Shrimp cluster is fresh in texture. Might be made in house? Some parts have no taste, and some parts where you can taste the shrimp/seafood. - Lamb slices - Tofu skin. - Scallop wasn't worth it. Overcooked last time but I'm a picky scallop peeps - A-choy, lotus, yam. Sauces/condiments: Garlic, cilantro, green oil, hili oil, numbing oil, light peanut-ish sauce (SO's favorite), black vinegar, sesame oil, soy sauce, shacha, oyster sauce. Drinks: Free water, and tea. The tea is pre-sweetened and good for ppl who enjoy sweet teas. The fridge next to the cashier has a variety of drinks to pick from too. For this who are sensitive to super temperature hot food, it'll take time to eat. The spoon is metal so watch out if it get hot too. This is a kinda late update review. I thought I updated this review but it was stuck on draft. No matter. Since they've been open, we've been visiting at least once a month or more. Enjoy! Malatang is always a fun concept to eat so I was excited to try this place out! I was impressed by the selection of noodles, veggies, and fish balls as there was so much variety- honestly top tier compared to any other malatang place I've been to. However... I'm not a fan of any of their meats as they were all very chewy and didn't taste fresh but since the other 3 categories carry so well, this isn't a huge issue for me as the pot was still very well balanced. We were shocked by the level of spice our "medium" pot got, you can see the photo for reference. It was a herbally spice too, which wasn't really my fav so we scooped most of the spice out and it also just made it quite oily so we'd opt for mild next time. Everything else was good though, our pot shared between 2 people cost over $50 for over 2 pounds worth of food. The customer service was great too, the workers were friendly and efficient. I'm not sure how often I would crave Mala Town but I can see why it's so popular and can't wait to try different variations next time! read more
All time fave! Where has this place been all my life. It's so amazing. Price is a bit high but food was delicious and fresh and served very quickly. Staff were very friendly and helped us because we didn't know how it worked. Very spacious and clean place. My favorite broth is the classic beef bone broth. So delicious. Customize your own hotpot - grab some tongs and a bowl when you enter and begin loading up on vegetables, meat, seafood, chicken... then make your way to the counter where you'll choose a broth for all your delicious ingredients to cook in. Great malatang place! I've since came here every time I visited Vegas and now have three stamps on my punch card. There are so many selections, and as a vegan, I pay more attention to their veggies and tofus and they are great. Would definitely come again next time I'm in Vegas. read more

I've been coming to Malatown on Spring Mountain for a while now, and it's easily one of my favorite places to eat. I love that I can build my own bowl exactly how I like it, and they have such a good selection of ingredients that I end up trying something new almost every visit. The broth is rich without being too heavy, and everything always tastes fresh. Even when it's busy, the food comes out quickly and is consistently good. If you're looking for a spot that you'll keep wanting to come back to, this is definitely it. I always leave full and already thinking about my next visit. read more

When my family wanted to go try Mala Town I had never heard of it. I thought to myself..... oh crap! I hate mala. I don't like food too spicy and I hate that numbing spice. But, of course being the good daughter in law and wife that I am I said great let's go and looked it up on YouTube. When I saw the videos I started to get excited. It wasn't only spicy food it was hotpot made with ingredients you choose from a buffet of various meats, vegetables, noodles and sauces. The price is $15.99 a pound. When you walk in you get a bowl similar to the salad bowl at Olive Garden and a pair of tongs and you go and fill it with what you want in the hot pot. Then they weigh it for you and ask which broth you want and you pay for it. They bring it to your table when it's done. It's that simple. They have complimentary water and tea or there is a refrigerator full of different beverages to purchase. I had the beef bone broth which had a creamy delicate flavor reminiscent of a tonkotsu ramen broth. I had basically just a few different cuts of beef and cabbage and bokchoy. It was so perfect on a chilly night. My husband had the signature beef broth which had a deeper beef flavor with the same ingredients. We wanted Nappa but it had run out when we went through the line. The only cons were that about a third of the items had run out when we were there. I guess they don't keep up well during little rushes in business. This is disheartening because you can't go back and get what you missed like a regular buffet. They also don't serve dessert. I don't know about you but I always have room for dessert no matter how much I eat. Last note, my Brother in law got the Signature beef broth with medium spice and it had about two full tablespoons of chili flakes and chili oil in it. He dad to go get a cup to scoop some out. So maybe ask for mild unless you like super spicy like Mikey Chen and you can always add some more from the sauce area. If I could give 4.5 stars I would. The flavor and concept is 5 stars but I would take half a star for not keeping the ingredients stocked and for the little blip I had with the man who asked my brother about my service dog then told another employee that he didn't think he looked like a service dog so sent her to ask my husband. He is most definitely a trained service dog. I don't know if he had a certain look in his mind of what a service dog looks like but that's like saying I don't think you are a doctor because you have blue eyes. read more
This place is falling off in terms of quality. When I first came here, they had quality ingredients, better than in a regular AYCE hot pot. They had enoki mushrooms and large intestines, which are two of my favorites but very hard to find in restaurants now. Last few times I came, they stopped carrying the intestines. Huge disappointment because I always come here craving it and now I don't expect to find it here anymore. Today, they didn't even have enoki mushrooms. So why eat here when you can pay like $5 more and eat at happy lamb or shabuya with the same quality food, happy lamb is actually better quality, and it's all you can eat? Whereas here it's all weighed and they ingredients aren't even special. Spending $25 to eat a mediocre, limited quality hot pot. No thanks. The server also walks around unsmiling, no words. When I asked about the intestines she just said they don't have it, no quantifiers. Although last time someone told me they will have it again and I think he lied. Tea is all out and not refilled. Love this place! FOOD You go in, grab a bowl and tongs, and put whatever ingredients you want in your bowl. There are lots of options. I saw some unique ingredients that I've never seen before at other places which was cool. I think these kind of places are great too for big parties because it can accommodate to different dietary restrictions. Then when you get to the cashier, you can pick your soup base. Like similar places, you pay by the pound. I think the pricing is similar to other places. There is also a sauce bar so you can make your own sauces. I usually load mine with the sesame ones but I don't think you can go wrong with other selections too. It's very customizable. SERVICE This is the most notable and memorable part of my experience. The owner (I'm assuming) is so knowledgeable, welcoming, and funny! I'd come back again just for him. He truly knows excellent customer service. It looks like a lot of people who come here are regulars which says a lot about a restaurant. We went on a Friday evening and it was busy and packed but service was fast and our food came out relatively fast after it was cooked. OVERALL ATMOSPHERE This place was so clean and nicely lit. The ingredients bar and sauce bar were very clean and organized. Plenty of seating. PARKING Easy. Big plaza parking. GOOD TO KNOW If you have leftovers, the workers encourage taking it home! I saw people do this and I think it's generally normal practice too at malatang places. There are to-go boxes for your meals as well as containers to take sauces home as well. My hair stylist introduced me to Mala Town. He obviously has great taste so off we went. Mala Town is clean, first of all. It's obvious they clean their bathrooms often. They have a great selection of ingredients and you will always see the staff rotating and refilling the selection to ensure freshness. The quality of their meats, veggies, noodles, and other goodies are top-notch. They don't cheap out on ingredients and you can taste it with every bite. And their broths! Fantastic. They graciously have water and jasmine tea on tap. Staff are friendly and very accommodating to folks with disabilities like my mama. Please come here and support local businesses! read more

got take out on a weekday night and the restaurant was packed with people. i decided to try the dry pot as opposed to regular hot pot. it was pretty good! i love the wide variety of ingredients to choose from, you can basically get whatever you wanted. the sauce i picked was a little heavy as they put in a lot of sauce, but other than that i enjoyed my meal. read more
A great plus are the broths, each option a recommended choice for any craving. I like the Szechuan broth for a nice spicy kick but the House Broth (which you can choose the spice level) is the best option. Obviously the single serving bowl is the appeal, being able to choose the veggies and meats and their quantities, personally I really liked seafood balls so I got a lot of that. I do wish that there were more options for mushrooms (like wood ear). I also liked that the service staff is very helpful in deciding the recommend taste you're feeling and keeping all the options refilled and clean, especially the sauce stations. The entire space though runs too humid and can be a little uncomfortable to stay for too long. Either way, amazing food and amazing service and the price is decent, so highly recommended spot! read more

Mala Town is a build your own hot pot restaurant. This has been on my to go to list for awhile now and finally had a chance to try it out Friday afternoon! Mala Town is located at Spring Mountain and South Jones Blvd inside a small plaza. There is decent amount of parking spaces available. When I went inside the restaurant, a team member had greeted me. I let her know it was my first time in Mala Town. She had walked me through the process of picking out the different ingredients, and then the bowl would be weighed at the end! There were so many different ingredients to build your own bowl at Mala Town! You could choose from Carrots, Spinach, Napa, Cabbage, Broccoli, Tofu, Lobster Ball, Garlic Beef, Spam, Garlic Chicken and so much more! I ended up building my bowl with the following ingredients Napa Cabbage Two kinds of mushrooms Konjac Noodles Spam Pork Belly Additional beefs (Brisket etc..) The bowl came out to be 1.75 lbs. and it cost approximately $32.00 for the bowl. The broth was a beef broth with mild spice. Afterwards, a number was provided to go to a specific table inside the restaurant. The entrée was provided shortly afterwards! There is a complimentary sauce stations where you can also get extra ingredients like green onions! The bowl was delicious! All of the ingredients were super yummy! The beef broth was flavorful! The price was expensive though. It's been awhile since I've gone to a build your own bowl, hot pot! Mala Town was a lot of fun and it was a good experience! read more
Service: Topnotch look for Jasmine or Paul, they know what real customer service is! They will walk you through the concept and will definitely make you smile. Food: The soup is why we are here once or twice a month. Even my 7 year old crave Mala! Weekends or weekdays, the quality of food doesn't change. It's yummy for real. I had another pleasant experience today. Food was great and the interaction between Vicky and me was positive. I want to commend her here since she gave us a table that would get the most AC exposure. I asked her some nosy questions and she answered them with grace. Places like this can't really do anything extra so gestures like this really stand out. She made me want to tip more. We will definitely return. Now it's $15.99 per pound. I hate inflation. read more

I had heard so much about this place on TikTok, so I was really excited to try. I came in the evening and it wasn't super crowded. I love hot pot so this was fun to DIY and also try to figure out how much it was gonna weigh. My boyfriend and I both went with the spicy broth and it was spicy!!! I can't wait to come back. I love the sauce bar. Usually when places have DIY stuff, it can be a mess, but it was very clean and I also was really impressed with the service. The cashier was very personable and recommended the Wynter peach juice to us and it was so delicious. I also loved that they had Cold Jasmine tea, which was really refreshing and free. You select for a wide variety of different toppings, veggies, proteins, and noodles before everything is weighed together. Then you select your broth and enjoy. You can even order rice on the side if you prefer that instead of noodles.
