The curls she created were absolutely gorgeous and held beautifully throughout the entire shoot. One of my favorite touches was the custom lashes she applied; she had options in multiple colors, which I didn't expect, and recommended I go with dark brown for a more natural, soft look (I'm very fair). They gave my lashes fullness and length but the color kept them soft. It was a thoughtful detail that really nailed my elevated-natural ask. Beyond her incredible talent, Alicia is just a genuinely warm, friendly, and fun person to be around. I reached out to many people, but Mei's husband, Robert, was the first person to respond to my inquiry and have availability for my wedding day. I paid a total of $475 for my hair and makeup trial and for my hair and makeup the day of my wedding. I did my hair and makeup trial in December 2025. I asked for a makeup look that was "me but fancier" and a simple low bun with face framing pieces. Mei listened and delivered with a natural makeup look and a cute bun that I absolutely loved. She made me feel extra beautiful. She even helped me start sewing the comb to my veil. I booked hair and makeup services for my wedding day after doing the trial with her. For the wedding hair and makeup, note that they may not be able to come to your hotel. Robert told me that they did not have a driver available to bring Mei to the hotel the day of my wedding, so I had to go to their studio. For me, this wasn't a big deal because my hotel was just a quick 2-stop bus ride down the street. I booked an 8 AM appointment for March 2026 and I arrived a little earlier. Mei was already there so we were able to start a little before 8 AM for my hair and makeup. She recreated the whole look from the trial flawlessly and even helped me place and pin my wedding veil. In total, it took about 1 hour for my hair and makeup. Mei's hands are very skillful and efficient, but gentle at the same time. My hair and makeup looked amazing in person and in the photos. I ended up crying a few times during my ceremony and reception, so I accidentally dislodged one false eyelash. That's OK though because it was easy to put it back on with the help of my friends and eyelash glue. Katie came recommended by my wedding planner so I booked her for my California wedding in July and…read morepaid her $787 deposit to reserve my spot, despite not being able to do a trial with her first. The contract I signed with her stipulated a $500 fee for cancellation within 3 weeks of the event, she also assured me that if the trial was unsuccessful, she would refund the deposit. Upon completing my makeup trial in May (for which she charged an additional $600), I was unhappy with the final product and length of time (3 hours) it took Katie to complete my makeup. Consequently, I cancelled Katie for my wedding and kindly asked that she return my deposit at which point I was told that she would not refund any of the deposit despite the contract terms. After much back and forth she finally agreed to return 50% of the deposit but never followed through on her promise despite multiple follow-ups. Ultimately, I was out $1,387 because of my dealings with Katie Nash in addition to having to hire another makeup artist. My personal opinion is that there are much better makeup artists in the San Francisco area that cost less and more importantly- operate their businesses with integrity. Look elsewhere.
