We had a lovely family dinner here last night and it was amazing! The whipped herb burrata stole the show for the appetizer course- the table fought over the last angus beef meatball. The Brussels sprouts were amazing with a wonderful surprise sweetness (apple cranberry mostarda) mixed in with the crispy outer sprouts combined with the balsamic glaze. Our boys both had the bucatini bolognese for their entree and the homemade sauce was deliciously paired with fresh, homemade pasta. I opted for the turkey version of this dish- don't sleep on this option as it was outstanding and so robust, the flavors are so rich you would swear you are eating red meat. My husband was thrilled with fresh seafood in the squid ink bucatini- a not to miss dish filled with lobster and mussels. The sophisticated, cozy atmosphere was complimented by the attentive wait staff who quickly filled glasses, served steaming meals and cleared plates. The chef accommodated a tree nut allergy with no problem. This is truly an amazing dining experience tucked into an off the beaten path area of Vineyard Haven. Soooo I went back to the Maker for more because my girls lunch was so on point. This time I hit brunch with the husband...and now it's two for two for great food experiences here. I ran some long miles this morning , so I treated myself to two entrees(‍) and lots of wine. The mixed salad with salmon and the turkey bolognese...food quality is off the charts and service is true small town perfection. 10/10 will be back for dinner soon! read more

Tried the place fire the first time recently. Food was good and I didn't have to wait for a table. I'd go back again.

We've been coming to the Vineyard for years and found this restaurant that was just simply amazing! All the dishes that master chef Carlos Montoya makes - from the meatballs appetizer, mussels and the Bucatinni bolognese mains were some of the best dishes we had even compared to restaurants in NY! He even accommodates those with gluten allergy and makes some of the best tasting gluten free home made pastas. Keep it up Chef Carlos! You have an amazing staff as well. This was one of the best meals I've eaten. Not just on the Vineyard, but in my life! We tried three appetizers that came out both looking and tasting fabulous. Our entrees were wonderful! Our table had steak, coq au vin, and pasta. Everything was hot and well seasoned. We loved the focaccia to sop up the wonderful sauces. The flourless cake w peanut butter mousse, bruleed banana, homemade marshmallow, and ice cream was decadent and amazing. It was an epic meal. read more

Fresh local ingredients and hearty portions. The peaches and tomatoes on the burrata salad were so flavorful and paired so well with the tangy vinaigrette. The homemade bucatini in Chef Carlos famous pasta bolognese was so soft and chewy and delicious. The staff is friendly and welcoming and the dining room is super cute and homey feeling. My husband and I ate at The Maker tonight and we enjoyed it so much. The space is warm and inviting, the staff is attentive from the moment you walk in the door. Nicole, our server, was friendly and knowledgeable. Attentive but not intrusive. The food from start to finish was fresh, well prepared, delicious and pretty! The whipped burrata was so bright and light. The Caesar salad was delicious and a generous portion. My husband loved the lasagna with meatballs. He said if he can't have lasagna that I make, he's very happy/satisfied with what he ate! My bucatini with bolognese was fresh, hearty and hit the spot. We were too full to have dessert but I'll save room next time. When I go out for dinner, I want a plated meal not plastic baskets and 90% fried, bar food options and THIS was absolutely not that! Cloth napkins, meaty utensils and dinner plates go a long way with me and I was very happy! We did not know about the specials ( Choice of either 1/2 price apps or ordering from the special menu but do for next time! We will have dessert next time ...at least I know I will!! We will be going back to try lunch and to have dinner. We may try a pop up night because who doesn't want Ramen!!! read more

My husband and I were blown away by how delicious our meal was at the Maker, which opened last month in the Little House space. My husband, who adores bolognese, said the Maker's was best he'd had (tip - they sell it by the quart along with handmade pasta in a cooler in the cute "shop" section of the restaurant). We split an excellent Caesar (house made croutons) and 3 half portions: Lumache, Mezzaluna, and the Bucatini with bolognese. (All so good I would've licked the plates if there hadn't been other customers around.) Best pasta on the Island - you can tell the chef uses fresh, high quality ingredients. Can't wait to get back and try the other menu items! Note: they are working on their liquor license - it's in process now. Friendly service, cute interior with pasta-themed art, and there is parking in front and back of the restaurant. read more

Sorry, we wanted to like this restaurant but the pasta was bland, the service slow and there was nothing to drink but water. Bolognese was good but that's it. Please, more seasoning in the food and some drink choices. Mocktails, sparkling cider- there are drinks that dont require a liquor license. read more

The Maker is a true gem in Vineyard Haven. Their Bolognese is absolutely outstanding--rich, flavorful, and paired with perfectly made fresh pasta. Warm service and a cozy, stylish atmosphere make this one of the Vineyard's must-visit restaurants. We were lucky enough to meet the wonderful owners and get a tour of their kitchen followed with a tutorial of how they make fresh pasta daily. Go visit the incredibly warm and welcoming team at The Maker! They will feed you delicious food in a beautifully and adorably decorated space. The intimate space is filled with art work from MV local artists including Kasha Ritter! You will notice Head Chef and Owner Carlos's cook books nestled on shelves. For food, we highly recommend the Bucatini Bolognese, Fettuccine, and if you're still hungry, top yourself off with a side Hanger Steak, and Mashed Potatoes. As steak snobs this was hands down one of the best steaks we've ever had. The hanger steak cut like butter on the fork and burst with flavor. The mashies were stupid creamy and flavorful. 10/10 recommend. Whether you're just visiting or live on island make sure you add The Maker to your rotation! read more

Absolutely loved our experience here! From the moment we walked in, the service from Brookelyne and her trainee was outstanding--friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. While the restaurant doesn't yet have its liquor license, they more than made up for it with incredible food and an atmosphere full of laughter and great energy. Some of the best dishes I've had in a long time, and the staff made the whole evening unforgettable. We'll definitely be back! read more
