Food: I order the catfish basket. It came with 3 pieces and tots (or fries if you like). I decided to add the white cheddar 3 cheese mac to my order. Fish was hot and delicious. The tots were good but could have be warmer temperature wise. The mac was good but could have been warmer as well and consistency was a bit runny. Summary: Overall, everything was good. I look forward to trying other things on the menu in the future.

The hostesses at the door were sweet and cheerful when they welcomed us and it was great. We quickly were seated over in the bar area. Within moments our waitress welcomed us. I believe her name was Jax? I'm sorry it wasn't on the receipt. Anyway she was great. So friendly and helpful. We got the buffalo chicken street tacos and the catfish street tacos and they were both amazing. The catfish was cooked perfectly and was so delicious. The restaurant has a great vibe to it. Very casual, kind of a sports bar but not hardcore sports bar. Feels more like a brew pub that has sports on tv than anything else. We would come back here again. The service and the food were both great and the cocktails were good too. The old fashioned was really good.

My wife and I have been to Mike's Place many times for many different occasions over the years…read more It's our go-to restaurant when we want delicious food and dependable service. The restaurant is decorated tastefully in a quaint New Orleans style, and the atmosphere is dress casual and calm, perfect for nice, quiet get together. The restaurant is not designed for a high volume of people, so reservations are best because they stay busy. As I mentioned, Mike's Place is New Orleans themed, and the menu reflects this style, but there are many delicious options. My wife and I made 6:00 pm reservations for our 41st wedding anniversary. We arrived around 5:45 pm but we were seated before 6:00. Our server, Dallas, was very friendly and attentive and took care of all our dining needs. We first ordered the Coconut Shrimp appetizer. This arrived quickly and was hot and well prepared. The Coconut Shrimp comes with a delicious dipping sauce. For our entrees, my wife ordered the Atlantic Salmon with fried okra and baked potato, all of which was served hot and well prepared. My wife has dairy allergies and she requested a butter substitute for the baked potato, and Dallas was able to provide margarine instead of butter. I ordered the Commodore's Platter, which comes with Lobster Tail, Dungeness Crab Claws, White Fish and Shrimp with salad and one side. You can get the seafood prepared grilled, blackened or fried. Even though a "platter" sounds like a lot of food, it was filling but not too much. This was another excellent experience at Mike's Place, and we'll definitely be back!

It was our first time dining there, and we had driven nearly an hour and a half to get there…read morebecause it was a special occasion. We read reviews and thought we'd eat there. We arrived at 7:15pm and told that it would be over an hour wait for the dining room or we could sit in the bar area immediately, so we chose the bar area. Our server came to take our drink order while we looked at the menu. I asked about the beer on tap and was told that it was local craft brewers, I asked if Coors Light in the bottle was available and was told yes. I ordered that and was asked if I wanted a glass with it and I said no that I preferred to drink out of the bottle. Well, in a few minutes, another server brought my wife's glass of wine and my beer IN A GLASS! I distinctly ordered my beer in the bottle, but I decided to drink it anyway since the restaurant was so busy. After a few sips I noticed an odd taste that I couldn't quite put my finger on. Almost a soapy taste. When our server came for our order, I brought his attention to the beer being in a glass and not how I ordered. He said that he would correct it. He took our order, we both ordered the Ribeye cooked medium. When it came time for our salads, my wife had hers promptly but mine wasn't. We had to remind our server twice before my salad arrived, but it came about 2 minutes before our steaks. So naturally because of the size of the table we were at, I couldn't eat my salad. (We were at a small table for 2) Just as I thought that things would be better, my steak was so chewy that I couldn't enjoy it. Now I realize that it was Friday night and y'all were extremely busy, but come on now, $50 for a Ribeye that was the quality of something you would get at Texas Roadhouse or Logan's? Sorry for being so brutally honest, but we were very disappointed in our visit.....

It was several miles off the main highway, but we decided to give it a try anyway--not worth the drive or time. The eating area was clean but all the knick knacks needed a good dusting. There were several daily specials posted but without prices and we didn't ask...mistake #2. We got an onion rings appetizer. They were good. I ordered the stuffed potato with brisket. It was room temperature and had one tiny slice of brisket cut into four pieces hidden by cheese and sour cream. It was ok. I mean how badly can you mess up a potato? My husband ordered the Cajun sampler. The proteins were delicious-fried fish, shrimp, crawfish, but that's it. We are Louisianians born and bred. It came with cups of gumbo and red beans and rice. I'm not sure what was in the first cup, but it wasn't gumbo and was pretty much inedible. The crackers with the gumbo were so old, they were rancid. You could smell the odor as soon as you opened the package. The red beans and rice were flavorless except for waaaay too much red pepper (tons of Tony Chacherie's does not make it Cajun). There was Texas toast--should have had hush puppies, but whatever. We drank water. THEN we got the bill--$55 for lunch before the tip. Even though parts of the meals were good, it was not worth the price or the detour.

Big bonus is they have a great bourbon selection! Appetizers we have tried: Boxty - potato pancakes! Ya I know crazy right? But they are good. This is my new go to lunch item there. Guinness BbQ sauce and perfectly cooked wings! Entrees: Ruben sandwich- always a hit, the crispy rye bread and sauerkraut hit the spot! Hot O'malley burger - gives you a little kick with the fried jalapeño and banana peppers. Fish taco is a great lighter choice. Fish and chips is always good. They have a good salad selection but no one comes here for the salad reviews! I will be here again you can count on it.

Don't get me wrong the food was actually good, but way overpriced for what you get. For instance the Fish and Chips were $16 and you only got 3 medium size pieces of fish, and a handful of potatoes. The service was decent even though they were pretty packed for graduation. I think they probably pride themselves on being a whisky bar since they have a menu completely dedicated to them. I was a little disappointed they weren't playing Irish music at all. I could see drinking here, but food quantity needs to come up for the price, and the music needs to get the scene, since all the decor is Irish.
