Stopped here after attending a show at the Wisconsin Center. Doesn't look like much from outside but is a great sports bar inside. Food is wonderful (especially the "The World Famous Major Cheese Burger") and reasonably priced. Angie was our server and she was fantastic. My husband begged to go here because he was craving their wings. I had never been to Major Goolsby's before, so we figured it was worth a trip. We checked the Bradley Center schedule, and despite an arena football game going on, were able to walk right in and have our pick of tables. This may or may not have been a sign. As expected, the hubs ordered his wings, medium, which came with celery and bleu cheese. He loved and devoured them. I ordered a single bacon cheeseburger. The patty was overcooked, but the bacon, cheese, and addition of sauteed onions helped give it some flavor. We split the sweet potato tater tots, which weren't mind-blowing but were good. Don't expect anything fancy here -- everything comes in disposable or plastic containers, even the sodas in their flimsy plastic cups. Not a bad thing, just good to know depending on your occasion. Overall, the total came to $26 for a burger, wings, tots, and two sodas -- not bad, but there is better value elsewhere in the city. Nice atmosphere, good service, decent food. Came here before a Marquette game with three other coworkers. It was great that they knew their niche and served accordingly. Our server was very friendly and prompt - even though we could see her running around like crazy to all her tables. I got the sweet potato tots (ahmazing), and a cheeseburger. The burger was seriously awesome. Not in a prime cut of meat way, but in a diner sort of way. The patty was pretty flat and the cheese wasn't melted - but I really liked it! I seriously inhaled it. I wish that the burgers came with a side instead of having to order on separately, it added up quickly for what I ended up getting. If you're going to BMO, this is a good bet. I was skeptical at first, but they have a fair amount of taps priced reasonably (one of its neighbors marks their beer up a ton). The food is a little pricey. I get it though. You are paying for convenience. How much would you pay inside the stadium? The sweet potato tots were good. The chicken tenders were average yet filling. First time at Major Goolsby's last month. My hubby and I, and another couple, were in town for a concert at the UW-Milwaukee Arena. Major Goolsby's was extremely convenient. You can park across the street, eat, then attend your event without ever having to move your car. The place is huge! I can't imagine you would ever have to wait longer then 20 minutes for a table. The food was ok, and the service was ok. All in our party but one had a burger, no one was brave enough to try the Major cheeseburger. I tried the single version of it. As I stated before, it was ok. Too bad I can't give this place 0 stars!!! this place is pathetic. We arrived last night at 7:05pm to grab some beers and food before the Daniel Tosh show and boy did we regretted making that decision. When we first arrived the place was pretty much empty, we got our drink pretty quickly since they were not very busy. We ordered our food at 7:13pm, my friend's "nachos" came very quickly, the nachos seem to have come from the Bradley Center across the street, but the flavor must of gotten lost on the way to MG. The same friend ordered a cup of soup that looked as if had come from a food pantry. While it was nice to see our friend eating her food the rest of the group was still hungry and waiting for our food to come. The order consisted of the following items; 2 - Chicken sandwiches 4 orders of fries 2 10pc wings 2 Cheeseburgers at 7:50pm I went up to what it looked like a manager roaming the floor, and I told him we had not received our food and that we were not happy that people that came after us had already gotten their food. He asked me what we had order and I told him our order, he replied by saying wings take a long time...to what I replied that the people sitting in front of us had gotten theirs after us and had ordered wings and they were eating. I notice the same "manager" go to the kitchen, yes, you can see into the kitchen from your seat, and noticed that he had to go up to the cook and tell him to make our food!!!!. When the food finally arrived, the burgers looked and tasted as if they were from Burger King, we noticed that the kitchen had the same ovens as BK!!! The wings were PATHETIC, I ALWAYS order wings when I go to places cause it takes a lot to mess up wings, but this place proved me wrong. My buddy's wings had what it looked like oregano on them, with no sauce, he ordered mild. My wings were buried in pepper, we at least the top ones, the bottom wings were dry and lacking any flavor, I felt as if I was taking the Cinnamon Challenge, but with powder pepper!!! Tried to visit this place on Monday around 12:30pm, the door was locked with no posted signs as to their hours being different. Disappointed because my last name is Goolsby, I wanted to hear the history of the restaurant and my best friend from Vegas was out and we were looking forward to the visit! I'm giving Goolsby's a generous 3-stars because the staff (many of whom appear to have worked there forever) are always very, very nice and deliver good service consistently. I'll echo what everyone else has said about the space... large, covered wall to wall with tvs and often pretty dead, unless their is a key home Buck's game in town or something going on at the Bradley Center. The food is typical, mediocre bar fare, and I am 99% sure my veggie buger was morningstar farms with a kraft single on top. The only other thing I've ever personally had here are the wings and those are decent... not nearly spicy enough for me and a little too greasy. If we end up here. it is usually out of convenience because we are going to a game at the Bradley Center. read more

This was a great place to come to to eat and watch sports. In the 70-80. Now I'd have to say it's very out dated. Look up in the rafters dirt dusty. The menu was dirty with bbq sauce. Tables with napkins to level the tables under the feet if the table. Waitress sitting at the bar. Very loud the place was a ghost town. We where there at 5-6:30. The food was poor. There wings where lass then enjoyable. 2 people had chili dogs. Chili was very poor . I'd have to say I won't be coming back there for anything unless the owner clean out a dirty dusty place. Maybe new cooks and waitress. The place needs a Major overhaul. It was a great place in the 70-80. Major Goolsby's is so much bigger inside than it looks on the outside, with three large rooms all connected and walls lined with countless TVs for all the sports fans. Decor is pretty standard but drinks are well-priced. Came on a night when a game had just ended at the basketball arena next door so the place was packed. Service was slow as a result, but I think that was the exception to the rule. The crowd was fun and overall welcoming and fun to drink with. Heads up, though. Downtown Milwaukee is pretty dead these days. Not what it used to be. read more

It's the best sports bar downtown, but that's really not saying much. Milwaukee is void of good sports bars, especially ones that aren't of the chain variety. They like to claim they have an amazing burger, but I think that's just a myth. It's a decent burger....sure....but way over priced for what is basically a fast food burger. if you are in the mood to watch a game, it's a decent spot...but man is it going to set you back. $9 for a burger.......without fries....and $8 for cheese curds and you are almost at $20 for food alone. 2 stars = Meh. Why is this place busy all the time? We went before a show around 5 pm. Hardly anyone was there and service couldn't be slower. In the booth behind us the manager was talking to a cook who was complaining about being disrespected and his final words to her? "I wouldn't eat the hamburgers tonight!" They returned from the kitchen slightly better than the original batch. They looked nothing like the picture on menu. Over priced sub-par bar food, killer location. I met up here with my sister and some of her friends before the Admirals game last night. I'd never been here, but the atmosphere was a lot of fun. I could definitely see myself heading here to watch a game on tv. The menu looked decent- I only had a beer. My biggest complaint was that they didn't have any Lakefront beers. We went to grab some food after the Admirals game last Saturday. I'd been here before for drinks but not food. Well, it seemed as though they had closed the kitchen, then hastily reopened it after we were ordering food. I could smell the wing sauce and it smelled good. So I ordered wings. My wife ordered the "Cajun chicken" sandwich. My buddy ordered a cheeseburger and his wife also ordered the wings. My wife's Cajun burger was nothing but a breaded chicken sandwich. The waitress put down a cup of buffalo wing sauce because the kitchen "forgot" to add Cajun spices. Huh? My buddy's burger was plain. My wings were ok, but my buddy's wife's wings were not cooked through. Once she bit through the breaded part, the meat inside was bloody and raw looking. Yikes! Major's is always a great quick stop before I go to Milwaukee Admirals games. I love the fries here so much - I'll get a burger or sandwich as well, but mostly prefer the fries. Wait staff has always been really great as well. They know when the BC or UWM Arena have events and when to hurry things so you will get there in time. read more

Its a sports bar, pure and simple. The food isnt much to talk about other than the sweet potato tots, which were delicious. The space is large but half always seems to be closed unless there is a Packers, badgers or bucks game. I will says the staff is generally nice and as expected they serve beer. In general, it is somewhere to enjoy watching a Wisconsin sports team game with a bunch of people and enjoy tots or fries to much on with your pitchers of beer, not much else. read more
