Such a lovely addition to downtown Danville! There is typically always a line on weekend mornings, although it moves quickly, and seating may be hard to come by. But if you can snag a seat and enjoy your pastry and coffee fresh you won't be disappointed! I got the chocolate almond croissant and it was divine! Somehow the chocolate was still melted inside as if it just popped out of the oven, which it probably did! The latte was smooth and delicious. I can't wait to come back and try their other pastries and breads. They have a great selection it'll be hard to resist not buying one of everything. read more

There's always a line outside this new French bakery so on a Friday morning when I had a day off I ventured over. It was busy but not out the door busy. I was able to snag a seat with my journal and get a latte (they use equator coffee) with my croissant. I ordered croissants, pain au chocolat, apple turn overs. The pain au chocolat and croissant were so flaky! Latte was also very good. Super buzzing vibe on a sunny day! Definitely loved the authentic French bakery in my town! read more

I had never heard of this place until I was at an event and randomly came across a business card. I checked out the menu, and decided it looked good enough to check out. Whatever my expectations and ideas were going in, they were completely blown out of the water. I've come here twice, and I ordered the apple turnovers, a salmon quiche, and the salmon roll. I prefer savory over sweet, but the turnovers weren't too sweet, and they were so good. The quiche, once you get it warmed up, was so eggy and soft and amazing. The real star for me, however, was the salmon roll. You have to let the staff warm it up, because it was toasty, savory, and really light on the palette. The employees are just so friendly and helpful. The place can get packed and busy and loud, but that's a testament to the great food this place offers. I'm already looking forward to coming back here in the future. read more

Bread paperless, sandwiches, chocolate, what else besides Cocoa and coffee is here? Just see for your yourself, it's a miracle since years back LA Boulange had The record here. Ah, the smells, no bacon here, but the fresh bread baking crisp crusts as you wait outside more wafting intensives as you close in off 402 Railroad going from sidewalk to ente vous. Taking home as majority do, it's seems as no longer the days of donut shoppe lines and Blaise drip coffee fresh to French styled pan and cafe' with the bistro music to book. Yum! Love the vibe and love the food! Service was quick and prompt. Be prepared to stand in line even on a weekday morning. Weekends late morning is prime time and many people tend to line up here! Highly recommend the following: - Almond Pain Au Chocolat - Smoked Salmon Tartine The pain au chocolat tasted like a combination of croissant and chocolate chip cookie (as pictured). The cookie part was crispy and moist at the same time, and the filling for the croissant had cream and chocolate. Yum! The smoked salmon was of very high quality and we loved the simple yet delicious flavor. We will be back. read more

We have stopped here multiple times since opening and we never left disappointed. The croissants are truly authentic. The closest to what you would find in France. The cutest bakery ever! And very authentic! We came here Easter Sunday and it wasn't too busy but then the line started to form behind us. I love the inside decor and the people are just the kind of people you'd want to start your morning with. The croissant, the pain as chocolat suisse, and coffee were all amazing. My husband enjoyed his almond croissant as well. I love this place and already can't wait to go back for more pastries and coffee :) read more

When I first visited this new-ish bakery at the time, almond croissants were delicious. Unfortunately, in the past they would run out before 10am. A stinging review evidently fixed that and now I am a happy camper. Almond croissants beyond 10am and sometimes later into the afternoon. Service is par for the course only Bouchon Bakery in Yountville is a smidgen better. Ambiance is good with seating inside and outside. read more

Maison Benoit has just opened in Downtown Danville on Railroad. It's a cute cafe with French style pastries and sandwiches. Definitely recommend coming here for a Parisian experience. They have a few outdoor tables set up as well to catch up with friends. The bakery is just starting up and there's already a steady line through the door. Looking forward to grabbing pastries and carbs after my workouts at OrangeTheory across the street. read more

We were in the area for brunch and kept seeing a long line at this place. We were curious after we ate brunch so we decided to stop by and pick up a pastry. We got the chocolate croissant and it was pretty good. The outside was super crisp and it was flaky on the inside. I was a little disappointed as it seemed like they just stuck 2 tiny pieces of chocolate in the croissant so not all off the bites had chocolate. I also got a vanilla cream puff as well, which was pretty good. Overall, the crispy croissant was good and I would go back to try other things. read more

In a word... Perfect! Just discovered this gem on Sunday, after having opened Wednesday last. I could not be more pleased. Coming from Alamo, I'm happy to drive to Lafayette to La Chataigne for excellent (And I do mean Excellent.) croissants, bread, cookies, tarts, etc. There has been no finer place in the East Bay for baked goodness in the French tradition ... That is, until Maison Benoit. So far, I would say they are completely equal. That is to say, for the two things I have been able to try -- Croissant was perfectly flaky, airy and buttery, with a hint of outer crispiness. Their country style French loaf: superb (chewy crust, deliciously, moist insides, just the right amount of browning on the outside.) so good!!! I will be returning for more delicious sampling, and of course photos, the next time around. Thank you for coming to Danville! Que la chance vous sourie! read more

Yum yum and yum!! The new hot spot in town with some delicious authentic French pastries.. oh so I've heard. I've never been to France to experience their culinary cuisines but definitely will! Anywho, there's always a line but it goes by fairly quickly.. definitely quicker than Bouchon Bakery in Napa. We've tried their chocolate croissants, butter croissants, French bread baguette, raisin custard pastries and lattes and they are all soo tasty! Flanky exterior and soft and buttery insides ughhh I'm getting a hankering for their pastries just reliving my experience! Such a great addition to the town! Nice little cafe to sit down, chill and enjoy their offerings! read more

Wow the line out the door during a rainy Saturday morning was quite impressive! The staff that welcomed and took my order was friendly and quite helpful! The cases looked delicious and very promising! But my avocado toast was a bit forgotten in the back kitchen - after checking on i was promised that it will be but my toast was burnt! I was a bit disappointed. But the almond croissant saved the day ! Will have to probably give another chance on a non busy Saturday morning! read more

Great new bakery that opened the bottom a month ago in the heart of Danville. The baguettes are true Parisian baguettes. The croissants in my humble opinion are on the batteries side, but still excellent. The desserts are amazing but I would say more on the American side I I had an eclair and it was heavy which is not what the French pastries are known for. They're supposed to be light and airy. The waiting lines are long, so avoid weekends. It is hard to find a chair during the weekend although the storefront is plenty big things are on the pricey side, but you don't have to pay for a flight to Paris. Bon appétit.!! read more

Good pastries & good coffee, exactly why you come to a place like Maison Benoit! It's nothing that will blow your socks off, but it gets the job done and gets it done well! The staff is friendly & with how busy they are all the time, they do an amazing job at keeping up! The place can feel a little hectic with how busy it can get, but the decor is clean & appropriate for what they are going for! For someone (like myself) who has anxiety around busy places, it can be difficult but I think it's worth a shot if you like pastries & coffee! read more

Wonderful bakery. Everything is delicious. The staff is very friendly. Can't wait to visit this charming business again.

My gf and I had a delightful breakfast here. We ordered the Croque Monsieur, Salmon Tartine and vanilla latte. The Croque Monsieur was delish and the Salmon Tartine was also quite tasty. I bought a couple of the dessert pastries to go ~ Pavlova aux Fruits Rouges & Saint Honore. The latter was particularly good and different. I look forward to coming back with my Francophile friends. read more

AMAZING I was so excited to try this bakery. I'm not the biggest fan of baked goods but I was blown away. I had ordered the croissants, chouqette's and salmon quiche. The croissants were so best I've ever had, so flaky yet so fluffy inside. The chouqette's were perfect - the cream inside was the perfect amount of sweetness and consistency. The salmon quiche was flaky and so moist. Everything is simple but they perfected every pastry. I came towards the end of the day but everything was still delicious, I would just recommend better packaging than the white bag because the oil seeps through and the pastries were all pressed against each other. Other than that, I can't wait to come back and try more pastries! read more

This is my 3rd time at this restaurant, always love their pastry, but not sure I will come back to this place anymore. Sitting next to the orange juice maker. First, the girl who handled it didn't change gloves after handling the garbage can beneath the juicer. Second, juggling the oranges with another guy for fun, one orange dropped on the floor and casually picked it up and put it back into the box of oranges like nothing happened. Few behind the counter workers either wear one glove or no gloves at all. For the price they charge, I expect a higher sanitation standard. read more

I love this place and I always get my croissants fix and bread but yesterday was a total disappointment. I ordered online for one of my fav loaf and showed that they had some available as they get sold out pretty quickly, and ordered it but when I got there to pick it up, they said they had none left! Eventho they charged my credit card for the item. I was so upset Bcs not only did I drive all the way there just to find out that they didn't update their website , I spoke to the owner earlier that morning and assured me that they have the item in stock and to order online. as I mentioned before, I love their baked goods but VERY poor customer service as most of them are kids working there. Idk maybe need more training ?? They also seemed to be overwhelmed whenever I go there. I know that they tend to be very busy especially on weekends, but this is not the first. They need to be more prepared and organized. Management needs to step up and find a solution Bcs if they can't handle the crowd and pressure, something needs to change. read more

I'm dropping everything at this moment to write this review. I ordered a few items: Fresh baguette straight from the oven, chocolate croissant, Brioche, Fruit tart. The baguette was still warm I wanted to hug it and tell it sweet nothings. It was a cold, rainy day so Parisian romance wafted from my bread bag. I enjoyed the brioche and chocolate croissant. But, the fruit tart... I just swooned a little. Confession. I ate the fruit tart two days after I bought it. Just didn't have time to eat it fresh. Bummer, but if a two day pastry can still offer a decent review, I can't wait to try the fresh one. This is the best fruit tart I've had in life so far. Appeasing to the eye. If taste buds could wander through an art gallery of flavors, mine just experienced art. The base exuded hints of flavor, vanilla perhaps. It had the gentlest snap. Within was a carefully made whip cream, I think. After having been refrigerated for the last couple days it was smooth like butter but careful to highlight the celebrity of tart, the fruit! The fresh fruit flavors were accentuated by the snap and the cream. My taste buds enjoyed the artful creation. Divine! read more

The baked goods here are very good. However the lack of allowing customers use a tray to carry their purchase to their table is ridiculous. I suppose the way around it is to order one item at a time if you have the patience to stand in line again. Carrying one item and a cup of coffee uses all the hands I have. read more

So glad they finally brought a true authentic French bakery to the area. I came with my son and we coincidentally met the owner and one of the bakers who are all from France. They were so friendly. We ordered the following: Chocolate au pain (wow the flaky outside and the chewy inside with just the right amount of chocolate heavenly) Marquise (it's like a cream puff with just the right amount of cream and sweetness was so divine we could eat 100 of these) Regular croissant (the color and texture just right and so tasty the buttery ness) Iced latte (went perfect with the marquise) They are also doing a Saint pattys day special only until Sunday with Saint pattys day macaroons. I'll just have to come back! The pasties magnifique!!! Do not hesitate and come here. I had to update my post. Wonderful almond croissant. We had the cafe Eclair and both delicious. The chocolate chip puff pastry was ok but our favorites were first two. We were visiting from out of state and will go back next time we are in Danville I did read some other reviews after I posted mine and I should say that we came during the week after dropping kids off at school and walked right up. No waiting . We sat outside to have our coffee and taste our pastries I then decided to buy a few more of our favorites to go and again no line . read more

Maison Benoit usually gets busy on the weekends with long lines especially in the morning & lunch hours, so we try to stop by during the weekdays. The staff behind the display cases takes your food order and then you put in your drink order before paying at the cash register. If you are dining in, the wait staff brings your order to your table. They have indoor and outdoor tables. Food review: Croissant (5/5): Flaky on the outside, soft on the inside with beautiful honeycomb lamination, their croissant has a clean light buttery flavor. For $3.75, it's a bargain. We always get at least a couple of croissants when we visit Maison Benoit. Baguette Tradition (5/5): Traditional french baguette with a crunchy exterior, a soft interior, and a mild flavor. This is what a french baguette should taste like. Only $4.00, it's worth it. Almond croissant (4/5): A crunchy croissant that is filled with almond cream and topped with sliced almonds. It's good but I like the plain croissant better. Brioche (4/5): Pillowy soft bread texture with sugar pearls on top. Croque Monsieur (4/5): Classic French grilled ham & cheese sandwich with a creamy bechamel sauce on top of Pain de Mie (white bread) with a slight crispy exterior. Note that I've never tasted an actual French rendition of this classic sandwich, so I cannot attest to how this compares with the original. However, IMO the ham could have used more salt to counterbalance the heaviness of the cheese and the creamy richness of the bechamel sauce. read more

I do not understand the hype around this place. First of all, im French so.. maybe biased. The pastries: feta/spinach snail had no taste and the chocolate eclair was way too sweet and did not taste like a french one. The bread: very good. The sandwich and croque monsieur were good. What bothered me was: the menu on the wall said the vegetarian sandwich was " coming soon " are you serious?! Its california!! Why is it taking this long?! It has less ingredients.. shouldn't be that difficult to manage! And the breakfast plate was no longer offered... so why is it still listed.. Also the guy who takes the orders for the first part of pastry items does not take them for the second so we almost forgot to re-order that part. Last but not least; the trash cans were OVER flowing.. and there were dirty plates and mugs all over the counter. Not appealing. And the butter that came with the baguette was nit real butter.. and french people want real butter not margarine. Gross. No french ppl in here fora reason. read more

My experience overall was 3 stars, but I'm giving the extra star and making it 4 because the pastries were so delicious. I think this was the best raisin roll/pain aux raisins I've ever had (counting Paris!) It was flaky, buttery goodness with the right amount of raisins and sweetness and crispy edges, so perfect! What they should work on: - they ran out of the veggie quiche around 11am on a Sunday. Really wanted to try that - quiche Lorraine flavor was good, but it was not warmed up properly, inside was pretty cold - drip coffee with cream, cream was put in by the staff and they put way too much. Would have preferred to have been able to to put the amount of cream I wanted. They did give me a new one upon request in which I got the cream on the side so that was good. Coffee was decent, slightly on the acidic side. - croque monsieur was also not heated up properly. Was cold in the middle especially. Lacked flavor, was pretty bland. - prices felt a bit too high on some items and a bit odd, quiche was $10.50 for a pretty small slice. A latte cost less than a simple tea (tea bag in hot water) somehow as well. Overall prices weren't too bad though some items felt fairly priced as well. Overall I think I'd come back here for the pastries for sure, would skip the breakfast offerings. read more
