To compound this terrible experience, it has now been a week and no sign of the refund. They never processed it. So they've now wasted my time, taken money for goods they never provided, and kept a tip they didn't earn. What an embarrassing operation. read more

First time visit to pick up a coveted Too Good to Go bag (had 1 Savory garlic bread, 1 cinnamon raisin pastry, and 2 sweet puffs) along with purchasing an almond tart and mini rum cakes. It was closing time on a rainy Saturday so no line, but still very busy with a bustling & cheerful ambiance. Staff were efficient and knowledgeable. All of the treats were so buttery and tasty! We will definitely be back for more Too Good to Go bags and other treats. read more

Hands down the best croissants in town. Fresh, perfectly baked, and full of flavor. Once you try them, it's hard to go anywhere else.

The bakery display had a fly in it and the person helping us saw it and I was disgusted he didn't even throw away the bakery goods that the fly was all over I mean at least do it for show . I was so excited to try this place maybe keep the bakery shelf closed I don't know ‍ I did get a coffee a latte coffee with the homemade syrup that was absolutely delicious . Maybe I'll come in the morning but i just couldn't order . Better luck next time for me read more

Went on Sunday morning. In line at 7:17am and received warmed up Croque Monsieur at 7:33am. Croissant sure was the best I have recently tried in San Francisco Bay Area! My friend and I also liked béchamel sauce in Croque Monsieur being creamy yet light at the same time. Room for improvement for service. read more

I travelled all the way from Los Angeles to try this patisserie. It did not disappoint! The croissant is truly deserving of the award that it won. The Saint Honeré was incredible. Unfortunately, I didn't realize how quickly they run out of popular items every day. Next time I'll have to get there before 9am. Also, I have to mention how wonderful the staff was and what a beautiful location they have in Danville. I'm eagerly looking forward to going back one day again! read more

My friend was talking about this mew item. She had me at double chocolate croissant. Done. We carpooled to the bakery, and the line wasn't too bad. We maybe waited no more than 15 minutes to get inside to a full display case. Unlike the last time when only the right side was left. Had to try this "double chocolate croissant." Chocolate croissant pastry dough AND a chocolate filling. HOW I waited to go home to finally dive my teeth into this pastry was beyond. I expected it to have a chocolate center, like their pain au chocolate. What I didn't expect was a chocolate souffle textured filling, along with a melted chocolate chunk center and a nut. Walnut? A singular nut gave it texture. I kept taking small bites after another until I got to half the croissant and had to pause because I only got one and wanted the rest of the fam to try it too. I also picked up wither croissants, a traditional Baguette (of course), a ham & cheese, AND a Margherita pastry roll, which I have yet to try. I saw all the desserts and cakes and oh that flan vanilla that looked like basque cheesecake.... need to try that next time. Yummmm. Can't wait to go back again read more

I placed an online order and noticed about a 7.6% "Danville tax" was applied to the total. My order was baked goods to-go, which I understand are not taxable under California rules when sold to-go. What is this charge? The charge is a noticeable amount, especially on top of the tip that is automatically added unless manually changed to $0. This feels misleading if the charge is not actually a tax. read more

Really happy about having this special bakery in the east bay! So far we have been there a handful of times and tried numerous delicious pastries, and I can always taste the high quality of both ingredients and the technique going into each and everything I tried. If you love French pastries then you need to come here and try! Did I mention they import their butter from France? The interior is elegantly decorated and spacious enough for patrons to sit and chat with comfort. Well done read more

I've come here several times to try multiple things on their menu, and I have to say it's all been stellar. You stand in line (yes, there's always a line), then order as you move along the counter. It's contactless payment only. Their flaky croissants are superb and you'll find if you go later in the day that they are all sold out! The pastries are also amazing, from their eclairs to their mille feuilles. The croque monsieur is also a hot item. When they bring out a fresh tray I practically started drooling. Their baguettes and breads are quality as well. Come here if you want to experience amazing baked goods. The head baker comes from a Michelin star restaurant in Paris, so you're definitely not going to be disappointed. There's indoor and outdoor seating. It is loud inside, but it's bustling with many customers for good reason! read more

The croissant? Truly excellent--flaky, buttery, and five stars all the way. But sadly, the rest of our experience at Maison Benoit fell short--closer to 1.5 stars overall. Let's start with the space: no one was actively bussing tables, and with limited seating inside, this made it hard to find a clean or comfortable place to sit. One employee was using a bistro chair near the bathrooms to charge their phone. Several tables are placed in full view of trash cans and dirty bussing tubs, which really detracts from the dining atmosphere. The couches were visibly dirty and not functional for eating, and the table toward the back is awkwardly positioned next to the bathrooms. There's also a large table in the center of the room that eats up valuable space. You could significantly improve the layout by swapping the couches and large table for smaller bistro tables. For reference, Café Douce France in Palo Alto does this well: it's efficient, clean, and accommodates more guests without sacrificing comfort. Now for the coffee: my husband and I ordered two cappuccinos with almond milk. Both were lukewarm with a sour, bitter, and acrid flavor--truly unpleasant. The baristas don't seem to have proper training in pulling espresso or steaming milk. I'd strongly recommend visiting Piatti or similar cafes to observe how their teams prepare espresso drinks--there's a clear difference in quality and technique. If I were to return, it would be solely for the croissant or a pastry. But until the seating, service, and coffee are addressed, it's hard to recommend Maison Benoit as a full café experience. read more

Delicious! I haven't had Chaussons aux Pommes or Pain Au Chocolat aux Amandes this tasty in the states. These even tasted better than some I've had in France. The bakery chefs are second to none. We also ordered and quickly devoured Pain au Chocolat, Cinnamon Brioche, Flan Vanille, and a baguette. We can't wait for our next trip to Northern CA. Also, service was great as was the atmosphere. We felt like we walked into a cozy bakery in France. read more

Wonderful croissants. Friendly staff. Lisa was fantastic. Looking forward to my next visit.

So it was our first time here. We drove an hour to come here and have some beautiful French pastries. The location is in a very vibrant and cute downtown. There are so many shops. The bakery was busy. I will say the customer service left a lot to be desired. The employee assisting us said "What do you want?" No hello, no is this your first time, nothing. I said good morning and she responded with "what do you want?" I let her know it was our first time and after about 30 seconds she again asked what we wanted. They had many beautiful pastries displayed and my wife and I were trying to decide what we wanted by looking and reading the descriptions. However, we kept getting rushed. We ordered 2pastries from the 1st case and immediately the next employee asked what we wanted, we were trying to rush and decided and he was already moving on to the next customer. Honestly no matter how good the pastries are we probably will never be back. The customer experience was very poor. read more

I had to check out this new French bakery given the recent buzz in local media and social media. Despite it being a rainy Sunday morning, the line was a good 30 plus minutes out the door, with times of being in the rain if you happen to not be standing under one of the outdoor awnings. Once you're inside, you walk into a bright, warm, and modern interior presented right in front of the two bakery cases. I was surprised to find a small sampling of goodies and pastries and sandwiches. I don't know why I had expectations to have more options to choose from. Nonetheless, one will find plenty to sample in many different savory and sweet options. Comfy items were priced as expected, while others were a bit on the pricier side. See attached photos with pricing shown in the bakery case. For example, a baguette sandwich goes for around $15 to $18. I recall a pastry item for $9. Service is friendly and there are plenty of staff to help you both behind the pastry case and down to the coffee station. Once you order your items and retrieve them at the cashier, there are interior dining spaces with a good amount of seats for diners. If it weren't raining, there are a few tables outside as well. Most items we ordered were average with a few more notable ones including the croque-monsieur ($12.50) and Chouquette ($1). Espresso drinks were typical, about rather small in portion size There's so many good places around the tri valley area, I couldn't necessarily say this would be my first or second go to place. Nonetheless, it's pretty neat to have a true authentic French bakery in the area. read more

I found this bakery on Instagram and decided to give them a try. It was packed inside, but they moved through the lines quickly. My mom and I tried three pastries, including the salmon roll. It was basically like a puff pastry of sort stuffed with salmon. That was our favorite, and it was so buttery and flaky, and had a lot of salmon in it. The banofee pastry and pavlova were also incredible! I can't wait to come back and try their sandwiches. We saw a few people eating them and they looked so good! read more

Taste and overall quality is good but service is too slow and too disjointed. Typical assembly line place without anybody owning a single order. On several occasions I've placed orders and waited 10-15 minutes and been told by numerous employees that it's coming, only to find out they forgot to put the order in. Can't have such slow and cumbersome service when you're charging $7-10 for a croissant in a town that had endless competition read more

I want to start to say - I love their croissants. Other than that, anything else is ok or normal with other bakeries I've tried. But recently, I ordered their "new" thing on their menu - Miroir Chocolat. I like it. Not too sweet BUT THERE IS A HAIR INSIDE IN THE MIDDLE OF ME EATING IT. So, i lost my trust with this bakery. read more

I must say that arsicault croissants have spoiled me for the past few yrs, but the croissant here did not disappoint !! Not at all. The freshly squeezed oj made everything significantly better, and being able to enjoy such good pastries sitting outside in good weather made immaculate vibes :) read more

I've loved everything about the bakery since you opened from the vibes to the, baked goods and cakes! So why 3 stars? Increasing the baguette pricing from $4 to $4.50 and while making the loaves smaller seems a bit unfair to your loyal bread customers. read more

FINALLY found parking when the line wasn't 8-10 deep, and got in and picked up my goal... a WARM BAGUETTE . For me, THIS is how you test a bakery; if they can't get the baguette right, nothing else matters. Well? 8/10, for me.... Great structure, crumb, crust, aroma... wish it was a *bit* more sour. Let me first say, I love bread, pastries and desserts. I miss my time in Paris just eating croissants and all the desserts. So happy to be able to visit Maison benoit for the first time! My family and I came on a Sunday afternoon, which was our own fault because a lot of their pastries option were already sold out. The line wasn't too bad, about 15mins and after we ordered, we found a table to sit outside since we had our dog with us. TLDR - get the plain croissant and the baguette and you'll be happy. Trust me! Everything else is secondary. Not that they aren't good, but the croissant and baguette is the staple. I also love their canelé, might be the best canelé I have found in the bay so far! I would skip the lunch menu and just stick to pastries unless you're very hungry. Overall, I can't wait to return for more pastries! read more

This is my second time, I came specifically to try their sandwiches and lunch stuff. The line was not too bad, about 15 feet out the door. Food notes: Spinach and Feta Quiche (Stars 3 $10.50) The Quiche was ok, part of the problem was we asked for it to be heated. When it was delivered to the table, it was not completely heated, some cold spots with slight warm spots. The Spinach Feta filling was ok, it seemed a little watery and bland, and being cold didn't help. The crust was ok, nothing special. Croque Monsieur (Stars 3.5 $12.50) They used good quality ham and cheese. The creamy béchamel was really good but again we heated it up (not sure if it should be eaten cold). They say it has a crispy crust, but that didn't happen, they didn't reheat enough to get crispy crust. They are not made fresh to order, rather made in batches and place out in the display case to be reheated. Hazelnut Chocolate Cookie (Stars 3 $4.50) The hazelnut and chocolate worked well together, tasted good, but nothing special The praliné topping was good, but wasn't really needed and made it very messy to eat. There was no way to pick it up without getting the topping all over. Parisian Sandwich (Stars 3.5 $14.00) The ham and Comté cheese was good quality, and of course the French baguette it was served on. It all tasted great but on the dry side. I added a packet of Dijon mustard to help. I guess this style of sandwich is not for me. I like mustard mayo, and the works. Chicken & Curry Sandwich (3 Stars $14.50) The curry chicken was bland, sliced white meat (dry). It was ok, but not for me. Until next time... Next time try: Mille feuille Quiche Lorraine Vanilla Flan Marquis Savory Danish read more

Maison Benoit, nestled in downtown Danville, is easy to find with plenty of parking nearby. When we arrived, there was a line at the door, but the wait was worth it! As you approach the bakery, you're greeted with the enticing aroma of freshly baked bread. The line moved quickly, and there's both indoor and outdoor seating. At the counter, you can browse their tempting array of sandwiches and baked goods. We couldn't resist ordering a few items to enjoy there and took some delicious treats home as well. The Croque Monsieur was a standout--perfectly cheesy with ham, all baked together into a deliciously flavorful experience. We also tried another sandwich on their signature baguette with ham, cheese, and pickles. It was simply wonderful. The Pain au Chocolat was heavenly, filled with rich chocolate in every bite. We also grabbed more pastries to-go, and everything was amazing. We'll definitely be back! read more
