We maybe waited no more than 15 minutes to get inside to a full display case. Unlike the last time when only the right side was left. Had to try this "double chocolate croissant." Chocolate croissant pastry dough AND a chocolate filling. HOW I waited to go home to finally dive my teeth into this pastry was beyond. I expected it to have a chocolate center, like their pain au chocolate. What I didn't expect was a chocolate souffle textured filling, along with a melted chocolate chunk center and a nut. Walnut? A singular nut gave it texture. I kept taking small bites after another until I got to half the croissant and had to pause because I only got one and wanted the rest of the fam to try it too. I also picked up wither croissants, a traditional Baguette (of course), a ham & cheese, AND a Margherita pastry roll, which I have yet to try. I've come here several times to try multiple things on their menu, and I have to say it's all been stellar. You stand in line (yes, there's always a line), then order as you move along the counter. It's contactless payment only. Their flaky croissants are superb and you'll find if you go later in the day that they are all sold out! The pastries are also amazing, from their eclairs to their mille feuilles. The croque monsieur is also a hot item. When they bring out a fresh tray I practically started drooling. Their baguettes and breads are quality as well. Come here if you want to experience amazing baked goods. The head baker comes from a Michelin star restaurant in Paris, so you're definitely not going to be disappointed. There's indoor and outdoor seating. I had to check out this new French bakery given the recent buzz in local media and social media. Despite it being a rainy Sunday morning, the line was a good 30 plus minutes out the door, with times of being in the rain if you happen to not be standing under one of the outdoor awnings. Once you're inside, you walk into a bright, warm, and modern interior presented right in front of the two bakery cases. I was surprised to find a small sampling of goodies and pastries and sandwiches. I don't know why I had expectations to have more options to choose from. Nonetheless, one will find plenty to sample in many different savory and sweet options. Comfy items were priced as expected, while others were a bit on the pricier side. See attached photos with pricing shown in the bakery case. For example, a baguette sandwich goes for around $15 to $18. I recall a pastry item for $9. Service is friendly and there are plenty of staff to help you both behind the pastry case and down to the coffee station. Once you order your items and retrieve them at the cashier, there are interior dining spaces with a good amount of seats for diners. If it weren't raining, there are a few tables outside as well. Most items we ordered were average with a few more notable ones including the croque-monsieur ($12.50) and Chouquette ($1). Espresso drinks were typical, about rather small in portion size There's so many good places around the tri valley area, I couldn't necessarily say this would be my first or second go to place. Wow what an amazing French bakery! This is my new local favorite. They just opened this year in Jan 2024. Family owned small business. They have a great outdoor cafe seating area right in the heart of downtown Danville. The inside ambiance is just lovely, very Parisian. The croissants are amazing! I am so sad to leave this review. The customer service has gotten progressively worse. The hot drinks vary greatly based on who is making them, which shouldn't be the case. If there is a standard everyone should be held to it a few times my drink was made after many other people who ordered after me, I don't understand how that happens. But, the cherry on top for this review was this.... yesterday I ordered over $100 of things to go. The girl who rang me up, poured my OJ in a cup and put the lid on, and touched a million other things, was wearing gloves. The SAME gloves for all of these things. If she was wearing the gloves to be hygienic, that is simply laughable. Why wear gloves and then not change them when touching everything? I felt so grossed out that I didn't even drink my OJ until I got to work and took the lid off (it had a drink hole). As always, the food is great and the service, sub par :/ read more

We walked into the coffee shop, they had ran out of coffee only had decaf, which was ok and the coffee itself was good. We ordered a ginger slice which was old and dry. You spend more time between the order and register than doing both combined, and lines at busier times can stretch long. Also, the croissant is good but not the best. I don't recommend the Paris-Brest either. The chouquettes, however, are to DIE FOR. Other bakeries are much better and have better service. Service is especially bad on big holidays. My croissant was buttery, flakey and perfect delicious! For $3.75!! Can't beat that anywhere! My honey latte was creamy and I tasted the coffee at the same time. I mostly go on weekdays when the line is shorter and manageable but the weekend line is also a social experience in one way :) The pastries are delectable and ultimately that's what will keep bringing me there- St Honore is the ultimate treat and no one makes it better (unless you go to San Francisco). I'd been looking forward to trying this spot with all the hype surrounding it, so we made a point to stop by early on a Thursday morning. It wasn't crowded, which was nice--and we were greeted as we walked in, which gave us a good first impression. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. We ordered two Almond Croissants and two Pain au Chocolat, but the staff member helping us seemed noticeably confused. She asked us to clarify our order three separate times, which was a bit surprising given how quiet it was. Maybe she was having an off morning, but the interaction felt disorganized. Oddly enough, she then told us someone else would take our drink order at the register... and it turned out to be her again. We asked for one iced matcha latte with almond milk and one regular latte. While waiting for our drinks, there was no barista in sight for a few minutes. Just as I was about to ask how long it would take, two staff members finally appeared. During that time, the same employee who helped us let a customer bring in a dog--despite a very clear sign on the door that says no dogs allowed. The dog wasn't leashed properly and even jumped up onto the prepackaged salad area. As a fellow dog owner, I was uncomfortable; it felt unhygienic and disrespectful to other patrons. To top it off, our drink order wasn't even correct--the iced matcha latte came out hot. As for the pastries, we did enjoy the flavors of both the Almond Croissant and the Pain au Chocolat. However, there were clear inconsistencies. One Pain au Chocolat had a glossy egg wash, the other looked unfinished. The coffee, unfortunately, was just mediocre. I had never heard of this place until I was at an event and randomly came across a business card. I checked out the menu, and decided it looked good enough to check out. Whatever my expectations and ideas were going in, they were completely blown out of the water. I've come here twice, and I ordered the apple turnovers, a salmon quiche, and the salmon roll. I prefer savory over sweet, but the turnovers weren't too sweet, and they were so good. The quiche, once you get it warmed up, was so eggy and soft and amazing. The real star for me, however, was the salmon roll. You have to let the staff warm it up, because it was toasty, savory, and really light on the palette. The employees are just so friendly and helpful. The place can get packed and busy and loud, but that's a testament to the great food this place offers. Was the drive worth it? Absolutely. I noticed reviews about Maison Benoit being very busy with long queues, so I planned an early visit. I stopped by Maison Benoit around 8am on a Saturday. The line was picking up steam, but I didn't find the wait to be long at all. The servers were efficient and handled the orders in an assembly line style case-by-case. They also had 2 registers in service. I ordered a regular croissant, all chocolate croissant, almond chocolate croissant, kouign-amann, lemon meringue tart, chocolate éclair, and a paris-brest. I had a bit of everything and enjoyed it all, but there were definitely a few things to note... The kouign-amann was outstanding. Best I've had in the United States and as good as ones I've had in Paris. The layers were so crispy, and it was buttery soft in the center. Solid croissant. My husband and I didn't eat this until I got home, and it stood the test of time. Crisp sound when you break it apart, honeycomb center, soft and buttery inside. Although the lemon meringue itself was fairly basic, what set it apart was the tart crust! It had a nice almond flavor to me and the texture of frangpane. Paris-brest is one of my all-time favorites, and Maison Benoit did it justice. The praline creme wasn't overly sweet. Chocolate and almond croissant. I'm not the biggest fan of filles croissants because I find that the filling compromises the texture. Crunchy on the outside but way too gooey in the center as I expected. That being said, the goo was tasty. The chocolate overpowers the almond flavor though. Wish I got more of the almond paste. read more
