On their website, under the offers tab, there will be a coupon that reads "83 Drain Clearing or It's Free". You may even have a flyer that came in the mail posted to your fridge with that same drain clearing deal. (Or any other coupon for that matter.) . IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO NOT FALL FOR THIS BULLSHIT. . My husband and I had a pretty good back up in our main sewer line a week before Thanksgiving last year (2025). The pipe was clearly clogged, but if no water was turned on in the house for an hour or so, it would slowly flow down, so we still had drainage. We thought it would be a simple fix. A snake of the line should do the trick - it had been 10+ years since our last back up. . I only called Mainstream because of that 'offer' I spoke about earlier. Drain clearing - eighty three or it's free. Cool! This was perfect; it was exactly what we needed and impressively cheaper than everybody else out there. . Called and got a same day appointment - tech shows up about an hour later. It's like 3pm-ish. Younger guy. Asks a few questions, sees the stagnant water level from the drain in the basement and grabs an auger from his truck. He brings it down the stairs and I kid you not, this auger had three blades on the end of it that made a plastic butter knife look sharp. Tiny too, like maaaybe two inches long. (This is part of their plan, stick with me.) . He proceeds to clear the clogged pipe. Probably spends about 15-20 minutes on it and then tells us his auger has hit something in the line and it is unable to go any further, BUT lo and behold, his supervisor is a few minutes away with a camera attachment. So that we can SEE the clog. In a fully submerged sewer pipe filled with dirty water. Right. . Supervisor shows up with a small light attachment and the camera *amazingly* less than 10 minutes later. Hooks it up, pushes it back and forth aggressively, grunts a little, squints, all the selling points here. Meanwhile, my husband and I are looking at this dark-ass, 5 by 5 inch monitor (the same one they are) which shows us absolutely nothing. Imagine kicking up all the muddy sand from the shallow part of the river bank and then trying to see the bottom. . We give them space here and go upstairs instead of awkwardly watching them the whole time, but we are both skeptical AF at this point. . Here's where it gets good. Young guy leaves (without saying anything to us) and 'supervisor' begins to explain our situation. Dude's name is Matthew Gipson and apparently he is a drain specialist, not a part of the sales team...which is the position his business card reads. Interesting. Anyway, he tells us that THE MAIN LINE SEWER PIPE HAS COLLAPSED. He says the location of the collapse is about 25 to 30 feet from the house (which puts it *conveniently* smack dab in the middle of our gravel driveway and not our yard). He also goes on to tell us that he has fixed numerous houses in this same neighborhood due to the builders back in the 40's/50's using the Orangeburg pipes. Mind you, we do not have Orangeburg pipes, ours are clay. . The fix for this? $8,000 dollars...that was the quote. EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS. Which would consist of an excavating crew coming out the next day to rip up half our driveway, replace the pipe, and install a clean out in that location. . HAHAHAHA, YO WHAT?!‍ . I could keep quiet no longer. Was it possible there was a collapsed pipe? Absolutely. Was it possible that good ol' Mainstream wanted a little more than $83 on this service call and had instructed their employees to fabricate a lie to upsell and extract that money from a desperate homeowner with a time sensitive issue? *ding x3* . Holding back my disgust (difficult, as I just wanted this fraud out of my house at this point while trying to keep cordial), I simply said that my husband and I would be shopping for quotes on this and that we'd sleep on our decision and call back tomorrow morning. He wasn't expecting this response. He kept repeating that the excavating team could be there as soon as the sun rises, that no other company could match their price for this service, blaaah blah blah blah blah. . He eventually left. We didn't owe anything because of their "83 or it's free" deal (which he had mentioned multiple times throughout the appointment), but our evening was wasted and our line was still clogged. . I hired mainstream electric at the end of July to put in an exhaust liner in my chimney for my hot water tank and furnace. The installers did a great job. A week later I called up to get a receipt that was itemized since the liner installed cost $4000. They spent about 2 1/2 hours installing. All I got was a invoice telling me 5 hours at a rate of $784.00, a week later I called and asked for an itemized receipt again and I got the exact same copy sent again, I think that was very unprofessional. I have been in the customer service business for 45 years and never treated somebody like that. I wanted to know what kind of liner I had put in and how much the liner was. My husband and I had to have a new circuit breaker panel installed. The team that came out was thorough, kind, and answered all of our questions. We were given options. Because it was electrical in nature and I work in insurance and see a lot of house fires (due to electrical issues), we opted to replace. The process was smooth and the team was amazing. They even brought out a generator so I could hook up my laptop for work. I see a lot of negative reviews and not sure why. Home repairs aren't generally cheap. I understand why they charge to come out to bid - it's time out of someone's day, gas, scheduling, etc. The inspection went great. We are relieved our problem was resolved. So to start with I am a retired hvac/electrical service tech with almost 50 years in the trade. My wife and had been out of town for 10 days and my neighbor was having a problem with her bath fan light combination. She was nervous so instead of waiting for me to get back she called mainstream to take a look at. Tech came out and told her both units were bad and gave her a price of over 2,700 dollars to replace. Now the fan lights are just over 96 dollars from Homedepot. So not sure where they are coming up with this price she told them she had to think about it and came over and talked to me about it as I had gotten home. When I got over to her house the Main Bathroom was working fine and the only thing wrong with her master bath was a bad light bulb. He had unplugged Light from inside so she couldn t get to work. This probably the most deceptive company I have come across in my almost 50 years in the trade. We had a few companies in the Tri cities that would pull this crap on customers. These companies that do this to people especially 81 years widowed ladies should be ashamed. They have no morals. Would highly recommend all stay away from this slimeball company read more

I had Mainstream out because my furnace was making a sound when i turned it on. They had did a check and work on it last year for $2000. The serviceman came out and after a check he should a photo of a crack in the furnace. He sad it was not good and was leaking carbon monoxide and it was not safe to turn on . I have 2 children and of course it frightened me. He told me the furnace needs to be replaced. He then went and looked at my Electrical Box and told me it was outdated and "showed me a video of how this box has been on the news for starting fires. He said his boss would be by to verify what he said and give me an estimate and payment options. Well his Boss shows up and agrees with his employee. He gave me a quote for $27,000 for furnace and electric. Sobbing I told him i needed time to get with my bank etc. My parents had a friend in commercial HVAC who came out looked and saw no cracks and did a carbon monoxide test he didn't see a crack and no carbon monoxide detected. We called Avista who came out and also detected none and electric panel was good. I needed my filters cleaned!!!! I am beyond horrified and mad at Mainstream and there scare tactics false information and fake picture. I will NEVER USE OR RECOMMEND MAINSTREAM!! HORRIBLE ETHICS! How is this not illegal! My experience with Mainstream was negative. They didn't arrive on time and my tenants hit the roof when they said the hot water heater repair would take over a week. Of course their alternative was for me to spend $2500.00+ for a new hot water heater. The one needing repair was under warranty. They needed to come back because the repair of my water heater didn't hold up. They had the hardest time figuring out what the issue was. At all times their overarching doctrine is to up-sell you. When they left me, it was with an estimate to do work I would never have them perform as it was a beyond outrageous proposal. Therefore, their monumental problem is that they are extremely over priced. Their work isn't that great, (for me they had a hard time figuring out problems), they don't show up at the time you were told they would arrive and they want to sell you things that are more expensive than available elsewhere. They have too many gotchas. For example, they didn't want me to buy a water heater and have them install it, saying they can't warranty their work if I did! Shameful. Mainstream had a $47 rooter promotion last year. Maybe you saw their huge billboard while driving on the freeway. Well, beware. I called them to inquire. They gave me many reasons why that charge would not apply, all technicalities designed to ramp up the bill. They're just money grabbing. They are not your friendly caring neighborhood handyman. I ended up being depressed and disappointed realizing that Mainstream is a one off bottom line organization, not a person to person, win win helping hand. Spokane needs better. read more

Worst plumbing experience I have ever had in any home repair. Unnecessary repairs, doesn't stand behind their work, paid $1500 for repairs that didn't work and company would not refund the money. After the first $1500 expense then tried to quote me an additional $9800 for a new tankless water heater which a competitor charged $4900 to complete. When asked by me (homeowner) to refund the first repair money my spouse was blamed as saying we knew the repair wouldn't work. So, blamed us for a repair they said WOULD work, tried to charge another $9800, won't refund the unnecessary first $1500 repair. Run and run fast away from this no integrity and dishonest company. read more

I called Mainstream to look at my son's HVAC in Spokane. The technician stated he was unable to get the heat to work and then proceeded to show me pictures of the inside of the unit with a camera. He recommended I speak with a sales rep who promptly showed up and offered me what he considered a great deal for replacing the system. With my son moving back into town soon, I paid a deposit and scheduled the installation. However, my son stated he wanted to get more estimates, so I contacted the rep and told him my son did not agree on the estimate. I informed the rep that my son wasn't refusing the estimate, but wanted more time to decide. The sales rep became quite annoyed and suggested that we break off business with each other altogether, even though I had expressed interest in them looking at my system as well. He was rude when he realized the deal wasn't going through. By the way, my son's HVAC is working just fine and only needed a filter replaced. I will not consider Mainstream for HVAC, even though they sell themselves as a locally owned business. Apparently they have become so big they have lost the culture of a company based on customer service and, as is the case with the "pink truck" HVAC companies (see my review on Cougar Mechanical), they are chasing profits over trust. I suggest smaller HVAC companies that receive high ratings on Yelp. Google ratings are manipulated too easily, especially by the big companies, and do not accurately represent a company like Yelp does. read more

By the by, if you need any plumbing services - DO NOT GO TO Mainstream Electric, Heating, Cooling, & Plumbing!! They coordinated plans and while the person took THREE days off work to accommodate them being at their house - it was beyond ridiculous. First, they had to pull up her flooring, drill into the concrete below, fix the pipe, and fix the floors afterwards. They came and pulled up the flooring one morning, left max hours later, we called to find out they were not coming back that day. They didn't hang any plastic around the area to keep the house from getting dusty from drilling into the concrete. We asked them to do it, they went to Home Depot and did a piss-poor job with it. The ENTIRE house was covered in dust. They coordinated payment and then said it had to be paid in full when they were finished with the job. (Not what was coordinated.) They said it'd be done within 3 days, it was not. Their customer service was appalling and the way they run their jobs is a joke. Seriously, find anyone else to do your plumbing. New furnace! Scene 3 Closer comes out from Mainstream Electric-- appears, confirms earlier diagnosis and then pulls out a contract for $8000 ($17,000 if we want AC)...... Scene 4 Cold Thanksgiving Scene 5 Called Banner Fuel. They showed up and said the furnace was fine, the thermostat needed replacement. $328. So, yeah, you could go with Mainstream Electric. Or you could call Banner and save yourself thousands of dollars. Think about this--. They were willing to steal $8000 from a family before Christmas. Never do business with Mainstream. read more

Had a water heater leak, which I knew ahead of time so I called them. They came out and said I needed a new water heater. I gave them the go ahead to replace the heater and while they were at it, replace a kitchen sink I had bought earlier from online store, 6,000.00 later I had the job done some 5 months ago. Today my pipes leak under the kitchen sink, and I find out that water heaters do not cost that much to purchase. I guess I had a sign around my neck that says Im stupid I guess. Meanwhile, I called them 3 weeks ago to come fix it since the leak was non existent before they put the faucet in and I am still waiting for a "call back" to fix the pipes that seem to be sliding down the top pipe they were connected to. We have used Mainstream for our furnace,plumbing, and air. We are set up on a plan where they come out twice a year and check everything out for us. More often then not they have to cancel for one reason or another. We had 100 degree weather and our air went out on us. I called and they said they would be there the next day. I got a call the next day...we can't make it... well a few days later Crystal called and tried to make it right by saying she would call me before the end of the day with an offer to get it fixed. It's 5days later and I've never got a call...their work is not the best! read more

I hate to leave a bad review. I really do but I should have read the reviews before we called but our AC was down and it was 100+ degrees so we called everyone. The only positives were how quickly Mainstream responded and the guys were very friendly. Unfortunately they told us that our air conditioning could not be fixed and that we should replace it and out furnace for $20,000. Our home is only 15 years old. They sales team offered us lots of upgrades and tried to up-sale us. We said we would think about it and called around. mainstream plumber repaired leaky outside spigot but noticed the water pressure is way too high. a water pressure gauge needs to be installed to better regulate the water from ruining any appliances or other water faucets. Scheduled a routine furnace inspection with their Schedule Early, Save More deal back in October. The earliest they could schedule the inspection was a little over two weeks away on November 14th. November 14th rolls along, I took the day working from home, and instead of getting a call from the dispatcher or the inspector, I get silence. Then after the scheduled appointment time, I get a text from the dispatcher telling me that the technician is running a bit late, but that they would give me a call before they arrived still. An hour and a half after that I get a text message saying that they tried to call me (I never got any phone calls that day) and that they wanted to reschedule me due to emergency appointments. The nearest available appointment time? November 30th, over two weeks away. I reluctantly agree, since they told me I'd still get the early scheduling discount of $79, rather than the $99 for scheduling by the 30th. So then November 30th rolls around, I again took the day working from home, and early that day I got a call from a technician whose dispatcher asked him to ask me to reschedule the inspection until December 16th, another 16 days away! (Also keep in mind these dates they scheduled are exactly on or after their price tier cut off points for this furnace inspection discount: $79 by November 15th, $99 by November 30th, and $119 by December 15th; meaning they could've easily lied to me and then tried to charge me for the higher prices because they were rescheduled on, or for after the discount cut-off times.) That is just absurd, people take time off work home to be available for these appointments, and Mainstream just keeps pushing it back and beating around the bush. Rescheduling an appointment for the next day is one thing, but twice in a row, for a total of 32 days is just absolutely ridiculous. I understand that with the early winter storms, and all the new home owners, that there are bound to be emergency calls that are far more important than a furnace inspection. But to delay my inspection by over a month, without any kind of compensation, consolation, discount, or even an apology is just inexcusable. read more

My husband and I are new homeowners who had to replace an aging sewer line. We got a very pricey quote but moved forward because of the good reviews, and the prompt timeline given by the company. We were told that service would be done Tuesday or Wednesday the following week (we were told it would be a 1 day job), that we would get a call before the team came over, and that the manager would follow up onsite with us to make sure the work was going as planned. Since this is the first home we've owned, and this was the first project at our new home, we paid upfront for this service not knowing any better and feeling pressure from the project manager who provided us a quote. On Thursday (not one of the two days they said they would do the work), without contacting us by phone or email, workers showed up and proceeded to dig a hole for the work and dumped 90% of the dirt onto our neighbors lawn, killing their grass. The first meeting we had with our neighbor was to apologize for this damage to their lawn. This is a very difficult way to move into a new neighborhood, and is laying a foundation of tension for us in our new home. We were then informed they had to finish the following day, which meant, if we wanted to use the toilet, our waste would be dumped directly into a giant hole under our neighbors window. We had absolutely no warning that we would realistically be unable to use toilets for over 24 hours. While talking to the workers, we also found out we were double charged for prep work (this was refunded at a later date after we were able to complain to a senior manager). We had no idea about this because Mainstream neither emailed nor sent us a paper copy of our invoice. Mainstream only provided an invoice for our multi-thousand dollar payment after asking for over a week. Additionally, we had to ask repeatedly to get a copy of the warranty we paid for. We also had to finance a portion of this job, (again, very expensive). We found out almost 2 weeks after the job was finished and the hole filled in, they did not tell the loan company that the job was finished. Again, we were doing extra leg work, just to give this company money and wrap up this job. Simple things like receipts, copy of signed documents, basic communication - everything offered to make this correct was too little, too late. We raised these concerns with at least four different people at Mainstream, and were wholly unsatisfied with their response. We would recommend all homeowners in the Spokane area to stay as far away from this company as possible. Their management and bookkeeping were incompetent and highly frustrating. I feel bad for some of the actual workers and plumbers, who seemed to have done a decent job, in spite of their lackluster leadership. read more

I am a senior citizen with multiple health concerns. When I realized my bathtub drain was plugged up I called Mainstream Electric to see if they could help. The cheerful young lady answered the call telling me that they had a $79.00 special currently in progress to unplug drains up to 100 feet. They were able to respond promptly. The young man that showed up spent more time requiring finger swipes on his unreadable tablet in the bright sun than he spent working on the plumbing problem. He said that by swiping "signatures" on his device I was acknowledging that if he broke his plumbing snake it would be my fault and I would have to pay them extra to replace it. I said that I didn't see how I could have any influence on his use of his equipment but he had many swipes on his tablet regardless. He spent twenty minutes or so working diligently on the drain problem without success. Then he announced that I had my $79.00 worth of effort and I would need to pay Mainstream an additional $258.00 in order to continue working but results were not guaranteed. At that point, I could see that working with this company did not offer a solution to my problem so I dismissed him. I feel that this company scammed me out of $79.00 without results or explanation. Hopefully, this isn't typical behavior toward seniors but I would not recommend this company to work on plumbing problems. They do not seem reputable to me. My home is old, as is the plumbing ; once a year we have some one come and clear the pipes. Mainstream gave us an insane estimate couple years ago for a tankless water heater in our very small home. I nearly fainted from the amount of zeros. We vowed to never say their name again in our home. Fast forward, though I expressed the details of the job to the dispatch person, the guy showed up late and quoted over a thousand dollars for a straight forward unclogging and even tried to upsell. Did I mention, we were lured in by 79$ coupon that gave no parameters of what and could not be done for an unclogging! For shame read more

If you need an emergency repair service, DON'T call them! They really know how to take advantage of people who is in desperate need! About 3 months ago, one of the outlets in my rental property had short circuit and burned the outlet. My renter called me that they needed an emergency repair due to a potential fire hazard situation. I called the Mainstream Electric because I heard them from their commercial ad on TV. The technician, Jeremy, came and inspected the situation. He described to me the wiring of the house was incorrectly installed and needed to tear down 3 walls to correctly rewire the electric circuit and replace the wires in order to fix the problem. His upfront quote was would take almost a whole day of work with a cost almost $5000 with tax. The repair cost seemed reasonable for the material and labor of the emergency work, right? So I agreed to let them do the job. The lady in the office told me the charge amount will be put to my credit card after the work was completed and with my authorization. The next morning the technician came and completed in 2 hours, not as what they had described the work being done originally . They fixed by replacing a section of the burned wires and a new outlet. No rewiring and walls were torn. The technician even didn't do the job right the first time by leaving an half inch big gap by the outlet cover and needing to came back to correct their work. Immediately, I saw the amount being charged to my credit card as supposedly asking my authorization about the charge. I called the office and asked for an invoice of the items they had fixed that would cost almost $5000 for 2 hours. I have never got the answer and still no invoice being sent to me to itemize their work being done. I called their manager, David Lachapelle couple of times and even had left him messages; but I never got his response. Therefore, I disputed their charge from my credit card company. They had negotiated with me to reduced $1000 to the amount they originally charged. What type of work that would cost about $4000 (after the deduction) for replacing an electrical outlet? I insisted them to provide me an invoice with the amount of work they actually put on. But again, no invoice was produced and sent to me. And kept promising will get back with me.  I have no problem to pay for the amount of work they actually had put on, but not based on their incorrect quote. As the time I wrote this, I still haven't gotten their invoice yet. And yet, they forwarded this dispute to a finance/ collection company to go after the amount they want to. This is the experience I had with this outfit in Spokane, WA. You should think TWICE before calling this company.  They only go after your money but not the work they delivered. read more

A/c was blowing hot air suddenly. They replaced my compacitor which had the A/c blowing cooler air but not at optimal levels. Then told me my TXV line needed to be replaced and quoted me $2400 to fix. Got a second opinion with another company and was told there was no indication the txv line was bad that every indication he had was leading to a Freon leak. Freon put in and air is much colder and the a/c is working at optimal levels. Mainstream would have charged me $2400 and wouldn't have even fixed the problem. I gave them a second star just because their response time was within a couple hours of me calling. read more

Called Mainstream once before a few years ago about an electrical problem. Changed my schedule around to accommodate them to get a person out on a day they scheduled. Waited all day for someone to show up and the only thing I got was a call from them saying they couldn't make it. Ended up having to get someone else for the repair Last year my water heater went out while I was out of town and my wife called Mainstream to see about getting it replaced. Without my knowledge she scheduled them to come out to give a bid. When I found out it was them I figured why not give them another chance. The technician showed and gave us a price on a tankless water heater and a direct replacement of what we had. We went with a tankless system. They responded with the installation in a very timely manner and completed the job. With the installation came a free tank flushing after one year. I called and scheduled the service a week ago for today October 4th for the a.m. At 11:00 am I get a call saying because of some emergency calls that came in over the weekend they couldn't make my appointment. They didn't know this at 8:00 this morning? So beware, the have no problem taking your money but are terrible when it comes to follow thru and customer service. So I gave Mainstream a not so good review and they reached out to me to see what they could do to fix it with their resolution folks. They listened and offered their yearly service plan free for 2 years to make up for the cost of the service that I was charged. I did appreciate that. As far as the other items that I complained about nothing could really be done except for retraining their folks..after the fact. What's done is done. They couldn't change their prices as they are set is what they said. I still have an issue for getting charged what I did for the work that was actually done with parts. With that being said, I appreciate that fact that they wanted to fix the complaint..that part is good customer service read more

Called to have our furnace serviced and to have it looked at for not blowing warm air. The furnace was fixed but never serviced. We called the tech Alex directly and he never returned our call. I called after trying to get the paperwork for the service and cleaning and was told the unit was cleaned and serviced. Then we called back cause the unit was still not blowing air to back bedrooms tech came out to tell us unit is too small for the sq ft. I still hadn't received the service-work order so I just made a call and spoke to Casey who was very rude to me and told me the reason I called 1st was that my furnace wasn't working and they fixed the unit but never serviced the unit. I am very unhappy with the service, they were supposed to credit us for a $55.00 coupon and never did and did. It do all the work we asked. read more

I will not be choosing you. After the absurdity of having to pay for a visit from your most kind employee to gain a bid, supposedly under the guise of expert evaluation (what a joke!), I am given this atrocious multiple bid which is insulting - not only because they are overpriced, but do not even reflect a normal bid which details cost of appliance, of labor, of parts, etc. I am most disappointed. They offer whatever deal to get foot in your door just to aggressively try to convince you to spend money replacing things at inflated prices. it was so bad I asked 3rd person that came to leave, even if I'm out the money and still in need, it's better than letting them try to take advantage. My elderly mother needed drain clearing. I searched online and saw a special by Mainstream Plumbing for $79. I called but just reached an answering service. I decided to book online but advised my mother that I expected that when they came out, they would try to sell her a bunch of services/products and she was to say "no." Sure enough, when the plumber came, he looked at my elderly mother and said he needed to have his "supervisor" come out. His "supervisor" was in reality a salesman. He told my mother she needed a $3,000 water heater, which she did not need. She needed a $650 replacement of her plumbing under a sink, which she did not need. And so on and so on. When she told the "supervisor" that her son had told her that they would try to do this to her, it seemed to give him pause and he let the "hard sale" go. I think this practice of trying to hard-sell an elderly customer is reprehensible and dishonest. You make your reputation in any business based upon your credibility. I cannot say Mainstream Pluming has any credibility. read more

Bragging of high marks when poor service remains uncorrected doesn't count for much. Imperfect people in professional trades know where the mistakes happen and prevent them in the first place. When mistakes do happen professionals correct the mistake even if it's at their expense. They don't sit at the keyboard and deflect and avoid responsibility while bragging of their high marks. Talk of what you might do does not equal making your customer whole again. Since it appears all I'll get is more talk instead of a refund to offset damages, my rating remains 1 and it would be 0 if it were a choice. Buyer beware - you have the most to loose. Ask for credentials and training before you let hacks in pro's clothes ruin your property and then watch them like a hawk. Inspect every detail and make them repair damage before you remit payment. Take pictures and document unrepaired damage for the inevitable debate that follows. In my case all I got after the fact is excuses, deflection, and more talk. If damage remains unresolved, don't forget about other ratings and small claims court. Better to pay a few dollars more and hire a trained and licensed professional the first time. read more
