I requested a quote on new air conditioner and furnace. I had received a first quote from the guys in the pink truck and was astounded that the "deal" they offered was for $10,000. This prompted the call to Borders. Daniel Savage came out and told me I needed neither a new AC nor a new furnace. Let the AC serve me until it was dust and he informed me, the furnace was only 9 years old and certainly in no need to be replaced. I was appalled that the first guys were going to sell me something that I didn't need and couldn't afford. Thank you Daniel Savage, for being honest with me! These people sent me a bill for a service I didn't order. I told them I didn't order it and that I would not be paying the $112 for putting in a filter that my tenent ordered. I told them to send it to collections and then they called my wife and threatended her with collections so she paid it because she didn't want to have to deal with them again. I see other reviews about how rude and abusive the billing person is and this was the case when I talked to her. I would never use these people again under any circumstance. I even told her that we had just used them to install a $15,000 heating system and that they should find the tenant or just eat this service which they charged me $50 for a ten dollar filter and $62 for what couldn't have taken more than two minutes to install. Showed up, tested it, said it needed replacing because it's R-22 (which was outlawed in 2010) . I could have told him that on the phone, saved him the trip, and myself the $180 he charged to tell me that. They sent a guy to give me a quote on a new system and he felt bad about it being really hot but explained they were out until Sept and I should look for other bids. They bailed. read more

The woman who answered said it was no problem and to bring it down after 3:30 when the guys came back from the field. Jeff cut my pieces by hand in about 20 minutes and they turned out great! The technician tells you one thing and office does something else. The business manager is rude and talks over you. The second time i had to have a technician come to my house for the same problem. The second technician told us there wouldn't be a charge for this visit because nothing was really done and he thinks it was a control module or mother board and when he got to the shop he would look into the parts. He never called me back and they sent me a bill for 120.00. When i called about the bill i was told the technician NEVER said that and if i didnt pay the bill id get turned in to collections and it would hurt my credit. She constantly talked over me,interrupted me and told me she was done talking to me and hung up. read more

Installed an air conditioner and had to add it to the furnace to do it. They were great selling the whole service and installation, but couldn't care less about their craftsmanship or service afterwards. They installed it incorrectly and caused the new furnace to accumulate water In The fan housing. They not only refused to fix it, but tried to charge me to even look at it. Thank goodness for professionals who actually fixed it. I'm actually thinking of canceling my Costco membership because of the horror of this incident. I'm reaching out to Costco to help with this problem. These people should not be in business. Buyer beware. They are not what they seem. read more

Like at least one other customer, I had Border install my mini split A/C system in August of 2018 after being introduced through Costco. I was happy with the installation and the price. Recently, one of the room units has been making a noise that I wanted diagnosed. I called Border and told them I didn't want a special service call, but that if they were in the area, I would like a diagnosis. I told them I was unwilling to pay $100 per hour for a call that would take an hour of drive time to and from Hayden Lake. With that in mind, I get a call from their service technician, Johnathan, telling me he is 10 minutes out and would I like him to stop by. I told him "yes". 10 minutes later he calls again and asks me to confirm my address (he had driven by). 5 minutes later, he shows up. He looked and listened to my room unit for maybe 5 more minutes and told me he thought it was the blower fan making the noise and left after telling me he would see if they had one in stock. He did call back to say they had one in stock and asked if I wanted the motor replaced. I told him "not at this time" as the motor itself was functioning fine except for the slight noise. A couple of days later I received an invoice for $105.00 (a fee that included an hour of labor plus a $5.00 "fuel surcharge"). When I called to protest the charge, I was directed to Lea Ann Brouillard (who identified herself as the owner). She proceeded to tell me that she was standing next to the receptionist when I was told that the minimum charge would be $100 regardless of where the technician was dispatched from. That never happened and it would have made no sense in that case for the technician to make a point of the fact that he was only 10 minutes away. In any event, she seemed perturbed that I hadn't had them out in 4 years and that they prided themselves on their customer service and price. She was mouthy and nasty and wouldn't even let me talk, so I ended up hanging up on her. I have sent off my check for $105.00, but in spite of having sent at least three friends to Border for an estimate on mini split systems in the past, they are the last company I would send any friend to in the future. Good for prompt and cost effective installation. Terrible for follow up customer service and an egotistical mouthy owner that won't even listen to a customer complaint. read more

This company is Awesome! They have come out a couple times and very impressed. Very professional. Called in last night and got a call right back from Tony and they were willing to come out and fix my condensation issue late in the evening. I had them out this morning and they not only got the work done, but helped clean up the water. Tony was great, asked him to wear a mask and he agreed right away with no issue. He even took his boots off at the door without being asked. Wonderful experience. One more thing, Tony even set me up so this wouldn't happen again with a fail safe. I had Borders install AC in my home in June after getting introduced to them through the Costco referral network. My initial review of them was great. We fired up our furnace after and early cold snap in sept. Furnace did not work, no heat. I called Borders and explained that they were the only people to touch my furnace within the last 3 months and i would like them to come look at it. They refused unless I paid them drive time and a service fee. Not happy. I called a local company to come tell me what was wrong. The heater is not draining and water backing up in the system. Borders rebuild the drain and tied the AC unit into the furnace drain. It was not done properly. Called borders back. LeAnne refused to believe it was her companies fault, saying my 5 year old furnace most likely needed to be replaced. LeAnne blamed me for not paying to have them out to check their own work, talked about how she's been doing this for 30yrs and could not accept that her company made a mistake. We hired Borders to complete an entire new HVAC system in our 1911 home in downtown CDA. We had many bids and even though Borders bid was much more than all the other contractors, we knew they were very knowledgeable and could get this job done right the first time and on time. They custom made our duct system which was needed for our old house as we were completely gutting and renovating back to life. Leanne and her team are always helpful asI had so many questions regarding my new thermostat etc and she was patient with me walking me thru it all over the phone. My experience with Border Sheet Metal has be unsatisfactory. I first had an appt and waited all day and they never showed, I had to call to reschedule for another day. When he did come to the new appt he was only here 10 min stating it was fixed. It began to malfunction again within hours after he left. I called to let them know it was not working again. Who I spoke with was very rude and did not want to waive the service charge I was willing to pay for any parts needed. They again was very rude and disrespectful over the phone.
