Have been Sturm customers for many, MANY years. Our heat pump was not functioning properly so we called for service. They sent a super young man, and we were billed and paid the almost 200 dollars. Sturm was going to have a tech come out and tell us how much a complete repair would be (I ass u med) we paid for that and we also asked the tech to have sales contact us for bids to replace HP with another heat pump or A/C unit. After over a month of no contact, I finally got the poor receptionist to explain that it would be over 800 dollars MORE before they could tell us how much it would be to fix it. And, she politely said she would ask sales to contact us to follow up on repair or replace. OVER A MONTH OF NOTHING and now over 800 to do something we paid for in May. They threw away a long relationship with us and we are telling our friends, colleagues and neighbors. read more

Not impressed! Had a complete furnace and heat pump installed. Experienced numerous outages and service calls in the first 6 months. New Carrier systems are supposed to be quality. Shows that the system name is not as important as the quality of the installation! After much frustration finally had an experience tech come out to solve the problems. This company replaced a capacitor on my AC. A very common problem and the part is readily available for individuals to buy. It costs between $15-30. They charged me $190 for the part. Plus $150 for the service call and $50 mileage. Of course I was told by the tech I should get a new unit. This is the HVAC company that just keeps on giving. We've been having issues with our furnace. We call, the divine Janelle gets us on the schedule, and then a tech comes out to check on things--for free. Today Zack came and spent about two hours trying to get the system to fail. Of course it refused to do so in his presence. He tightened everything, told us we had a more aggressive filter than we needed (who knew?), and said to call if we keep having trouble. Anthony and Dominic responded to our call for service today. They were both great!!! Sturm installed this heat pump system in 2016. The heat side has never worked correctly and emergency heat has been non existant. We learned today that they never wired 2 of the heating elements which was irritating to learn, but hopefully fixed and explains why it has not worked in the past. We were told during previous calls that when it is cold outside the system may not keep up. They found that the system also has a refrigerant leak. Not sure how that happened but we learned the search for the leak and to refill the system is not cheap. No complaints about the service folks but losing confidence that we made the right choice with this system. read more

Please learn from our mistake and do not trust Sturm! We asked Sturm to install a new whole house Humidifier, whole house Air Scrubber, and a timer for a fresh air system. We believed this was a good deal since they offered a 10% discount since I am a disabled Veteran. On their recommendation, the Humidifier was repaired ($149), then replaced ($1k), the Air Scrubber (which they recommended) had to be replaced 3 times ($1.5k) and the fresh air system timer ($340) was installed incorrectly leaving the vents pulling in outside air in February over a weekend. When they did show up, they told us we shouldn't use a fresh air system in Spokane and removed the timer, telling us we would be better served to disconnect everything. So in the end with install and maintenance fees, we are into them for over $3k and have a humidifier, a partially working air scrubber and no fresh air system. Then when we asked that they refund the $340 for the fresh air timer that they charged us for (and then removed) and for the 10% Veteran discount ($300) they promised, they will not return our calls. I have left a dozen voicemails for the maintenance department and when I do get someone on the phone in another department, I am told that no one in any department can help us except maintenance, which doesn't return our calls. But the sales department said they would be very happy to sell us a new system! Their technician even bragged to us that they charge more than any other HVAC company because "they are worth it". Using Sturm was a mistake that we will not repeat. read more

The installed the system 3 years ago, and did a good job - no complaints there. Today it just stopped working. I called for a repair (because it's miserable out, and they advertise 24 hr emergency service) and the indifferent receptionist told me the soonest they could come out is 2 weeks! Cougar Mechanical came out the next day. So this is not really a work-related complaint, their initial install was fine, this is just an example of poor/ unconcerned customer service. I contacted this company with a clearly stated request that was met with continuing arguments via SMS that what I requested would only be possible after I paid $129 for a service call, and they agreed with my what I asked for. After explaining that I already had a diagnosis and parts for this 50yr old unit were not available, the company decided a phone call and live argument would be a better approach. In response, I thanked him for the call and stated I was no longer interested in anything the company had to say or offer and to not contact me further. I immediately received another call from the company which I declined and then blocked the phone number. Next came a voice mail and yet another effort to argue the point. In reply I sent SMS to the company to not contact me again. Today I received yet another call from the company despite my instructions to not contact me further. The arrogance of this big company trying to bully and strong arm me into submission is not appreciated nor will it be tolerated. WHAT AN EXPENSIVE JOKE! I had a tech come to my home to look at a water heater. My dad was also here and told the tech what he did to troubleshoot the problem. The tech proceeded to sit on a bucket and verbatim tell my dad "you pretty much did my job for me" and then charged me $140?!?! The man didn't do a single thing or touch my water heater! he chatted with us for 10-15 and was gone. I work at a very busy salon and will be telling EVERYONE what a rip off Sturm is. I never expect a free service but to not discount a service when you do literally NOTHING is unreal. Shame on you. read more

After leaving 3 phone messages and sending two texts through their website, it took them 4 days to schedule a quote appointment. The person was on time for the appointment to begin a quote. The appointment was on a Tuesday morning, I was told I would have a quote in a couple of days. I called to check on it on Friday morning, I was told I would have it that day, or Monday. It is now Tuesday still no quote. This is all just for a quote mind you, I guess I don't want to find out what a headache it would be to have a new system installed by them. read more

Sturm installed a new Lennox 13ACX air conditioner three years ago which came with a 5 year warranty. The unit failed when a feeder line inside the unit leaked all of the refrigerant out. Sturm came to perform a two hour diagnostic and could not determine the problem, but charged us $90 anyway. A week later after an intense heat wave, Sturm performed a leak check and found the leak and repaired it within 90 minutes, but decided to charge us for the full four hour leak check. $820 bill for a Air Conditioning unit under warranty that Sturm sold us. read more

Do not I repeat do not deal with these people , they put a new furnace in our house, the furnace had problem after problem, when they installed the furnace they sawed out one of the floor joyce instead of moving furnace over, then they put it to far over and had to saw out part of door jam to furnace area where you could change furnace filter in unit, then the furnace kept blowing out all these boards and could find problem, then they put new furnace in again an they had to set furnace up higher off floor because it had problems with no heat and on and on and then the thermostat would shut furnace off and then, they replaced that, then the thermostat acted up again came out to replace again then, I asked them if they could have a bunch out factory fault product, they said it's possible, they hat experts from Trane come here and try to see what problem was, never could find out, now the thermostat is out again they refuse to come out and fix it, they said go some where else, we paid them 8600.00 dollars for this mess, also when they put the furnace in they left all the old line from heat pump hanging loose under the house and the inspector said to take it all out of there that hanging old equipment, these people have no scruples what so ever. About a year ago I had an on demand hot water system installed. I notice that the boss mentioned "trained installers", this I'm not so sure about. The trained installer was about to mount the on demand unit about 18 inches off the floor, until we said wait a minute what are you doing? He said " thats what the instructions say to do" Then we pointed out to him he was reading the outdoor installation instructions. By time it was done, he did such a poor job plumbing the unit it began to leak right away. None of the pipes were secured to the wall and they were being supported by the incompatible material joints he used. Even worse he did all the copper brazing in our basement instead of going out side. IE, measuring and building the system outside and then installing with a few quick brazed joints. All the smoke alarms went off and the basement was full of smoke. After speaking to the boss and having the salesmen out to see their work the installer returned, unhappily, and correctly plumbed the unit. So here we are in 2016, one year later. Time to flush the unit, simple job about 45 minutes. Ya think? The hot water flush fitting is positioned directly behind the gas inlet line in such a manner that it is impossible to get a flush line onto the unit. And there you have the so called trained installer. read more

Well, let me tell you......im so glad I called them!! They were out shortly after I called. Repair guy called in a second tech for help, explaining that he didn't just want to install such a big part without a second opinion. They ended up locating the problem and fixing it without having to install a new board. This is an honest company. They have a customer for life with me. read more

UUUUUGH! If u want nothing but headaches and inexperienced salesmen and installers then sturm is the place for u! Salesman gave us incorrect information about our system and obviously doesn't understand how the wi-if feature works! They had to come our and actually install the router. The unit I bought was a newer one that I was told after the fact that the installers weren't educated on how to properly install. Last winter the heat wouldn't turn on so they had to come out and fix it it thought it was only a few weeks old! When spring arrived the a/c wouldn't blow cool air! A fuse blew after 6 months and needed replaced! They told me for weeks I froze up the coil so I suffered in the heat. I finally demanded someone come look at it and guess what?!? The unit wasn't properly routed and wired! So fast fwd to a month ago when it started to get cold at night- SHOCKER! Our heat wouldn't turn on!! Service guy came out and said when the last guy "fixed" the a/c he forgot to hook the heat back up!!! I'm so frustrated with this company. I'm a year into this $6000 purchase and have had them come out at least 6 times. The worst part of all of this is the thermostats that they installed (which they have been out twice to fix) only runs the heat when it's on auto we set the the perturbed for heat , however the unit will only do heat OR cool, not both! therefore if it gets over 75* in the house it won't switch to cool! It just stops the heat from blowing and when I have it to blow cool air when it gets to be 69* in the house, it stops blowing cool and heat won't come on. Sooooo it's either 80* or 64* in my house unless I literally and manually turn the unit to cool when it's hot in the house and heat when it's cold in the house!!! It should be automatic like EVERYONE ELSES THERMOSTAT!! So my advice is to avoid sturm or u will end up being frustrated and upset like I am!!! read more

We had Sturm put in a Geothermal furnace in October 2016. It never worked well and gradually got worse and worse in the middle of winter. We had them come back between 25-30 times for service calls as the system did not work. They tried to insinuate many times that we didn't know how to run it. One of the service calls the guy came to our house in the winter and said, "You definitely have a problem." When we asked what was wrong, he said he was just sent out to see if there was a problem, but it wasn't his job to fix it. We had installers, repairmen and managers all come to repair it but no one could fix it. We had 4 water leaks on the basement floor and one time the pipe even blew open into the managers face when he came to check it out. Our pipes were shaking and making loud noises when we ran the washer too. We figured we were patient enough after 8 months of putting up with their poor work and finally called another furnace installation company for an evaluation. The other company told us that Sturm had actually hooked up the whole furnace incorrectly and due to their incompetency, the pressure build up so much it blew a valve off. There were so many copper pipes going into our hot water heater that the other company just shook their head over the incorrect work. Many calls we made to some of their workers were never returned. We fired Sturm Heating and used another great company. They fixed it immediately and it has worked perfect since then. Sturm has no idea of how to install a Geothermal furnace and we feel sorry for anyone that has them come to their house to do this kind of work. Stay away from Sturm. read more
