It's morning, about 6 am and I awake to my wife telling me the heater isn't working. I do what any self-reliant male would do and go check the thermostat. It's digital and it's black. Nothing on the screen. Dead in the water. I hear what sounds like a pump running in the cellar so I throw some clothes on and investigate. Turns out it IS a pump running! I'm not an expert when it comes to HVAC, so I text a buddy of mine who is and he walked me through some basic troubleshooting. We checked and reset breakers, but nothing seemed to work. He told me the next step was to crack the outside panel on the air exchanger and encouraged me to call a professional. Being somewhat new to the Spokane area, I had not the slightest clue who to call and I certainly wanted to get the right people out the first time. I googled "Spokane Wa HVAC" and while I received many pages of results, one thing was missing, reviews and testimonies. Enter Yelp. I quickly read through a few reviews on yelp and when I came to Spokane Comfort Systems, I knew that I had found the right company. A quick call into the office and I had an appointment set between 12 and 2 pm. Jason, the technician assigned to our case called me about twenty minutes to 12 saying he was on his way. He showed up on time, tools in hand, and ready to work. After doing some initial troubleshooting, he thought he had located the problem, but said he wasn't 100% sure as our unit had no markings on the panel or schematics. He ran downtown and back on parts run all in no time at all. Unfortunately, the new parts were not the issue. Back to troubleshooting. He ended up pulling most of the guts out of the unit and found the issue! He had the parts in his van and had everything back together and working very quickly. Through all of this, Jason was not only professional but courteous and helped put my mind at ease regarding the cost of the repair. Spokane Comfort Systems installed our furnace in 2015. It stopped working Sunday. I called Sunday and yesterday for a service call. I told the operator it was 57 degrees and took the day off as she stated they should be out the next day. These guys saved me over $300 on a misdiagnosis. I had originally called banner fuel on Sunday to come out and see what was wrong with our heat. Banner fuel came out and diagnosed a "new circuit board". Since it was a Sunday, just to have him come out was $160, not including the circuit board. Spokane Comfort came to check it out and the diagnosis....a dead bug!!!!! Jason found that a dead bug was plugging the pressure switch board, causing low pressure. Eric, the owner of Spokane Comfort Systems, came out the next morning for a bid, professionally estimated size and requirements, gave me several options that were $1000's under the other guys' bids. Installers were out the next day, worked efficiently and we had a high efficiency furnace installed in about 6 hours. I contacted Spokane Comfort Systems to get a bid for a shop and living quarters that we are building. Eric was very attentive on the phone and seemed very interested in doing our project. I sent him plans and he said he would get a bid out to us. After 2 months and 3 more emails, we never heard from him again. Interestingly, we were looking at a specific brands hearing and cooling system. When I reached out to the manufacturer, they recommended Spokane Comfort Systems and Eric gave me a call. He again seemed very excited about doing a bid with this brand of HVAC system. Again after 2 more emails and over a month, I never heard back from him. I emailed him to let him know that we had found a more professional company to work with. I finally received an email back saying he was sorry that he hadn't returned my previous 5 emails and that he's been extremely busy and had never gotten to our bid. This company made right by us today. My appointment was for this last Wed. they called at noon today, Friday and came right out and spent three hours cleaning and checking out everything. They did a great job cleaning the units, testing them and were very apologetic about not coming out Wed or the other times. I am very pleased with Spokane Comfort Systems! My furnace was not working properly and I called to have someone come out, the operator stated they were booked that day but she would see what she could do. There was a repairman by noontime and the issue was taken care of. The furnace needed a new part, the repairman had the part in his vehicle, no waiting or needing to return later with parts. He was helpful, efficient and polite! This is the second time I have had a team member from Spokane Comfort Systems come to help with the furnace. The first time was a little over a year ago, I was new to the system and wanted to be familiar with it. I scheduled a maintenance visit and two repairmen came. They took their time to go over the details and tune up the system for me. They were very thorough and gave me detailed instructions of what my part was for taking care of the furnace. I am very thankful for the time they took to educate me and make me feel comfortable with maintaining my heating and cooling system!
