I have been having soot on my siding for the last few years from the gas fireplace Falco's installed for me. I took pictures a couple years ago and sent them to the service manager. He told me that was the way it was suppose to be. I have cleaned the siding myself or hired someone to power wash it for me. I I have it serviced by Falco's. I did the Preventive maintenance Oct. 23, 2024, just like I have in the past. After the Preventive Maintenance this year the soot was the worst I have eve seen . This year I took pictures and sent them to "Frost Fire Service" and asked if that was normal. He replied immediately and and said absolutely not. I made an appointment for him to come to my home. In fact I showed those pictures to my 101 year old dad and he took one look at it and said "Incomplete combustion". The owner of Frost Fire Service said, "your dad is right." He took my fireplace apart and showed me several things they missed or were doing wrong in their Preventive maintenance. Among other things: This is from Frost Fire's Annual Service and Cleaning: REPAIRED ELECTRODE SPARK CABLE END GASKET ON BOTTOM OF BURNER AT VENTURI TUBE, ADJUSTED MANIFOLD PRESURE AS IT WAS TO HIGH AT 4.9-IN WATER COLUMN, AND PROPERLY POSITIONED He also noted Because they did not use "BEST BUILDING PRACTICES WOULD HAVE HAD THIS TERMINAL CAP INSTALLED 24-IN BELOW THE VINYL SOFFIT INSTEAD OF 18-IN ESPECIALLY SEEING HOW THE NEAREST VENTILATION SOURCE IS 28-IN FROM CENTER OF CAP. He also suggested' "A VINYL SIDING STANDOFF ON THE EXHAUST TERMINAL SHOULD BE CONSIDERED". since it wasn't installed properly to begin with. I once more took pictures and the invoice with everything explained to FALCO's. I just wanted them to remove the soot this year because it was so bad and the tech caused problem.. Without looking at all the pictures I had or even coming to my home to look at it the service manager said it wasn't their responsibility. He said I should have called sooner. I clean the siding every year so there was nothing to see until after the stove was started and it accumulated like it did every year. The only time I am out where the soot is it is when I put my AC cover on in the fall and take it off in the spring. I turn off the gas fireplace every spring and have them service and start it in the fall In fact right after the service was done by them I called thinking the flame was too high. They emphasized it was done properly and if the service man came back there would be another service charge. I cancelled the appointment I made to have him come back because their answer is always "that's the way it is suppose to be and it was done right." Didn't need another $200.00+ service call. I notice a lot of other people have the same reaction from Falco's. All I was asking from Falcos was for them to clean the soot mess their tech created. I didn't want anything else. . i just want them to send someone out to clean my siding and soffit. There was a silver ling to this mess. I found Ryan the owner of "Frost Fire Service" that cares about the customer and does a thorough job for Preventive maintenance. I watched him just as I have watched Falco's tech. They were in and out and checked boxes they did things they didn't. I was a loyal customer for over 30 years with Falco's. We loved their nursery and they installed a free standing gas fireplace for us before. We got parts from them "thermo something". The pictures show all the soot on the side of the house and soffit, the soot on the windows of the fireplace that accumulated in just 6 months. It shows debris that shouldn't be there. burn from gasket that needed replace that should have been noticed. I purchased a Lakeside gas fireplace in November of 2023 from the Spokane Valley store expecting a longer life than 1 year. I called November 29th 2024 to report the fan had stopped working and requested it be repaired. I was told the earliest possible service date was Dec 19 as they were in their busy season. I did an assessment of the situation and discovered the fan could not be turned manually. This indicated a frozen motor. I called them 3 more subsequent times and requested they bring a fan kit with them. 12/6,12/9. & 12/13 reminding them of the fan kit. All to no avail. On 12/19 the technician arrived and confirmed my diagnosis. I was told it was not a fan they stock and they would order it. I called their service dept to express my displeasure at the level on customer service or lack thereof I had received only to be rudely dismissed by their service manager. His comments suggested they should have reminded me the unit should be serviced once per year. I received no such advice at any time over the course of my ownership. I worked in the corporate office for Kubota Tractor with responsibilities for customer service, technical data, inventory control. My years in customer service prompted me to write this scathing review. Kubota Tractor over the course of my 26 year tenure maintained a 98.6% fill rate across approx 2000 dealers and over 1 million customers. Realizing Falcos cannot be expected to carry every part for every heating unit they service. But newer units should not be breaking down in less than a year. As for not having the required part...I find it inexcusable after asking them to have a unit available. They had the model, & serial number and all related information on record. We were having trouble getting our gas fireplace to light. Set up a service call with Falcos. After they tested checked and examined fireplace, I was told we needed a new gas valve and cost would be between $800.00 and 900.00. Seemed like a lot so I asked what the costs were. He said they had under charged the service call, it should have been around $200.00 since we were an hour away, so the quote included that. I asked how much the valve was and they wouldn't tell me.I checked and the valve was about $125.00 on line. I cleaned the temperature sensor and pilot light with a wire brush after watching a utube video. Been almost 2 years, still working fine. Falco's did a fantastic job installing a ductless heating and cooling system at our home! Everyone from the estimator, to the office staff and the install team were so professional and caring. The installers were truly amazing--they were efficient, kept everything clean and were really knowledgeable. We mainly got the system for the AC because we have never had air conditioning before, and we don't have a ducting system, so the cooling is glorious! But, we are using the ductless exclusively for our heating now too and it keeps our house so comfortable. Our electric bill has only increased by about $15 per month, but our gas bill (the way we used to heat our home) has dropped by about $40 per month! I am extremely disappointed in the lack of professionalism and service we received from this company. We paid $358.00 to have our gas fireplace serviced. The next day, it wouldn't ignite. My husband called and was told that the service person, Anthony, said it was working fine when he left, so we were basically on our own. They were rude and unapologetic and said we'd be charged another service fee to come out again. Needless to say, we were not giving them another dime. Falco's does not guarantee their work and we are out the cash (and a working fireplace for Christmas.) So disheartening. Hurleman heating and A/C is coming tomorrow. read more

The ladies in the office are great, the service tech that came out was great...but the sales dept. and service manager need to learn something about customer service. It took 4 weeks to get someone out to fix gas fireplace, sales and service manager stated there was nothing wrong, service tech said that was not right and did make it better, although it is not right yet I'll tear it apart and fix it myself. Bill came to our home about a month ago and serviced our fireplace, (which had not been serviced in 14 years). He removed his shoes when I requested it, never made me feel bad for how dirty it had gotten due to my negligence, and was kind and friendly. I called Falco's in early November to inquire about the possibility of someone getting my elderly/ ailing mother's gas fireplace up and running after it had been sitting dormant for a few years. We had just moved across country to live with her and care for her; all l needed was a yes or no answer as to whether or not they could work on this older unit. I first called the company and spoke with someone who referred me to "mike". Mike said to go ahead and email him pics of the make/model of fireplace so as to verify they had the parts. I emailed "Mike" and sent pictures of the make and model. He responded in an email that he'd show them to the manager and get back to me. A week went by and no further response. I emailed him AGAIN...asked if he had any further information: still no response. After two weeks I came to my own conclusion they were unable to service my fireplace. If only they would have returned my email or called me back. NOT responding is bad business. Having lived in many cities in and outside the U.S.,I have a pretty good idea of what quality customer service is; Falco's is below the bar. Fortunately, I found "Wing Stoves and More", who had great customer service, came out to us in a little over a week after my phone call, and fixed our fireplace! read more

Disappointed with Falco's. Purchased fireplace at a premium from Falco's because of their "premium" installation. After initial install they tested fireplace using a temporary electrical connection. Installer said the start-up may need to be adjusted after electrical is wired in. After permanent electrical was hooked-up, fireplace won't start. Bryan the salesperson told me to call the electrician, electrician tells me to call the fireplace installer. Falco's will come and look at at it for $138.00 additional service. Was hopeful that Falco's would support their installation....I guess not. Wish I would have gone with Spokane Fireplace, they stand by their installation. read more

My wife and I bought an electric fireplace for our living room, and we went with a Napoleon 60 inch wall mounted version. Our house doesn't allow for a gas insert, so we wanted to look at other options. It works great and makes for a nice ambiance. Anna and Grant were extremely helpful, and answered any and all questions that we had during the process. I am thinking about creating a mantle around the unit this upcoming year, but it looks just fine in its current state. I highly recommend looking at electric options at Falco's. We had an ignitor go out in our pellet stove. When i called to make the appointment i asked how much an ignitor cost and he literally said "i have no idea". Didnt offer to check and get back to me or put me on hold and ask someone. We needed it done regardless so I set the appt and he said he'd order the part. The service tech came out on time and was very nice, got us up and running. 150 for the service call and 285 for the ignitor. Total was about 470 which seemed high but again with the cold winters our basement is freezing so we needed it done. No more than 3 hours later the stove quit dropping pellets completely. Called the tech and he offered to stop by on his way home to look at it which I really appreciated. He found that the control board likely quit working but he wanted to call the stove factory to confirm. He called me the next day and confirmed it was the board and would be another $540 to replace (plus another 150 service call). He could sense the massive frustration on my end so he gave me the part # to look online. Look online and found an oem board for 280 so that's about half the cost. Then I get curious and look at the part number for the ignitor, 120 online! I appreciated his willingness to help me save $ but this sure would've been nice to know the first time before I double overpaid and then some for the ignitor. Now I'm NOT saying they sabotaged our stove. If it's just due to the stove being old and a massive coincidence that an unrelated and (really expensive) part goes out immediately after the appointment, then fine. But it's definitely weird and a little shady but I can't prove one way or the other. I definitley dont like that I was grossly overcharged and was kept in the dark on price until it was installed and too late. No one's going to pay for a service call and not pay for the part and be left with no resolution and I feel like they take advantage of this. I will ultimately still use them because the tech was great and theyve done good work for us in the past but the pricing really needs to be more transparent and more fair read more

I contacted Falco's to see if they could install the unit for us since they are also a Kozy Heat dealer. Falco's didn't gouge me for installing a unit they didn't sell me. Their customer service and communication is amazing. They did a great job on the install and my fireplace looks great. There is only one reason why these guys have been in business for 90 YEARS!! wow... Sure they have had to roll with the changes and mix up the product lines along the way, but the one think that has remained steady (at least in my brief 47 years on this planet) is that they offer AMAZING customer service! I will say that these guys LOVE what they do! When you walk in on the showroom floor, and you say you want to look at the latest tech in whatever you are looking for, they will talk your ear off about how amazing this product is, or that product is. What you WON'T get is any high pressure sales tactics, at all. I have spent a lot of money in this store over the years, and even volunteered time because I truly believe in what they are doing, and the charities (there are many) that they are supporting. However, I do agree that when you walk on the showroom floor, there isn't always someone to rush up to you (like a used car salesperson) to sell you the latest this or that.... Sometimes they are SUPER busy. My suggestion is that if you are wanting immediate help, pull up a stool at the counter and hang out for a bit... or browse. The fact that they don't have multiple sales people around to rush you when you walk in the door tells me that they are managing the business, and they are busy. Most of the employees I know that work there have been there for a long time, because they BELIEVE in the business, and they LOVE what they do! Bottom line is, if you are looking for a high quality BBQ (in my case it was a Big Green Egg and a TON of products), or heating source (in my case it was two wood burning inserts), or any number of things they sell, you will have a hard time finding anyone in the Spokane area that will treat you better. I went looking last Friday for a fireplace insert. I looked at a couple places, Falco's was the only one that would give a ballpark figure. I went back in the afternoon, picked out an insert, scheduled measurements for Monday. The guy measured on Monday. We were scheduled for January 29 install, about 3.5 weeks. I told the guy we would take an early install if they had a cancellation. Monday afternoon I get a call, can they install Wednesday, I said of course. We bought a Tailgater 20 at their discounted price about a week ago. The saleswoman was super helpful in answering our questions and the delivery was speedy. When the grill was unloaded, we noticed the wheels had been scratched up. The delivery guys told us it's from when they rolled it out of the warehouse, so we didn't think too much about it. We used the grill twice and Both times The grill simply just did not process as the manual states it should. I won't write out all that was at fault with it for it would take up too much space to describe. After consideration, we decided to try returning because we don't want to have a faulty grill, for who knows when it is actually have serious problems if it's giving different responses every time. Falco's agreed to return it but because it's a used grill, they need an authorization code from Traegers in order to return it to them. Up to this point, Falco's has been doing great with their customer care and the problem sounds like an easy fix. But getting this authorization code became the root of the problem. The saleswoman who helped us were in charge of our order so we waited for her call back regarding when her department can get the code and take the grill back. After waiting 2 days, I called her because we didn't receive any response. It turns out that she has an answer for us but just never updated us upon it. We were a bit unsatisfied with her at this time because we were going to trade another grill with her and didn't want to wait too long. To our dismay, she told us that they failed to receive the code, so we had to call Traegers to explain our case. That was not the last time we had to call Traegers. Long story short, Traegers says they don't know what code she s looking for and she says she has to have the code to return to the manufacture. During this process, I made at least 3 calls to Traegers and went to the Falco's store in hopes of finishing this problem faster but we became totally disappointed with their in store customer service and decided to not purchase again from them even if we can get the return done successfully. The front desk lady had us wait about 20 to 30 mins as someone was supposed making a call to Traegers. Our salesperson did not greet us and we were given no updates during this time. I personally called Traegers again and connected our saleswoman to Traegers rep so they can figure out what's going on. We left Falco's not being able to return the grill because Traegers refused to provide them the code (Traegers refused to admit their grill was faulty). Falco's did offer to trade another grill for us but it's out of stock and we have to possibly wait until the end of July to beginning of August. At this time, we seriously doubted the honesty of their words due to the bad experiece we had so we rejected. We understand why Falco's refused to take in the used grill but what we are really frustrated at is their customer service. They were super unprofessional and did not make us feel like valued customers with their nonchalant attitudes. read more

Purchased a fireplace insert in November 2021. Install went smoothly. 1 Day later I called the store because the pilot light had a 1-1.5 inch yellow flame. Left a message. There was no reply. After a few days I called again and left a second message. Received a call from salesman who had no idea who he was calling (got my name wrong) or why. We are now mid Dec. I explained the situation and sent pictures. I was told he would have service department follow up. No response. A week later I called back and explained the situation again. Service set up an appointment to have tech come out 2 weeks later. We are now mid to late Jan 2022. Tech came out and told us pilot wasn't right and although it was fine to operate that type of flame would cause excessive wear over time. I am familiar enough with these appliances to agree with his assessment. The pilot light was not burning cleaning. They replaced pilot, no luck, but when log was removed pilot operated normally. The tech called the manufacturer and sent pictures. The manufacturer did not have anyone available to help. About 3 weeks pass and I receive a call message from tech telling me that manufacturer says yellow flame is normal which I challenge and tech agrees with my assessment. I follow up with service manager Brian, but again had to wait for a reply. Very difficult to reach anyone on phone and have to rely on callbacks. Received a voice-mail the next day from Brian who said his hands were tied, and manufacturer tells him every now and then they have an excessive, dirty burning flame and if I want to talk to manufacturer here is their 800 number. I reach Brian a few days later and he tells me Falcos has done everything they could, they sent a tech out, and basically tough luck. This is for a problem discovered 1 day after install. My take. They know it isn't right, but Falcos says tough luck. First time dealing with Falcos. These units are expensive. I figured 90 years in business was probably worth something. I would recommend another dealer. Falcos was great at taking my money but for us that is where their service ended. read more

We bought a hot tub a few years back from Falco's and when we decided to purchase a gas stove insert we talked to them first. Our experience was again what we received when we dealt with them previously---superior! As a repeat customer, I can honestly say I would recommend--and have--them to friends and family. Every person we dealt with was friendly, knowledgeable, and, more importantly, honest! As a small business owner, I appreciate receiving customer service at such a high level. Falcos has amazing products but more importantly a family of employees that is very knowledgable in the items they carry. About two years ago we purchased a Big Tex Traeger grill for my father in law. This grill is simply amazing!!! We have had the pleasure of enjoying some incredible meals like ribs, pulled pork, cookies and pies. Even Papa Murphy's pizza turns out better than ever on this BBQ. From the first time I tried a meal on the Traeger I wanted one for my own. Today I have the pleasure of going in to pick one up for myself. I'll be like a kid in the candy store inside Falco's. I'm sure I'll end up walking away with a few more accessories to the Traeger because they have a great lineup. After the BBQ I have plans to have Falco's install my new furnace and A/C unit. I love family run businesses and Falco's is one of the top at that list. You cannot go to Home Depot or Lowe's and be greeted like family. Would do 0 star if I could! I needed all my appliances serviced to sell my house so a company came and did them all except the fireplace saying it needed a new gas valve or thermopile. I called falcos and gave them the model number and serial number of the fire place and told them what parts may be needed.They came out next day and 5 minutes in said it was the thermopile. 20 minutes to replace and they wanted to charge me over 300$!!! I even called the owner to say how disatisfied I was, he said it was because the part was so expensive... yeah I looked it up with the model number of the fireplace. 40$ for a quadrafire heat and glow thermopile. They charged me 105$ for the diagnostic (even though I told them what was needed before hand) and 175$ for repair. After calling the owner he took off 15$. Whooptie do after tax I paid 286$ so minus the 40$ part they charged me 246$ in labor for 25 minutes of work. Ridiculous! !! I will upload photos of the receipt and the thermopile.
