Late review but fantastic venue and fantastic beer. So many seating options and you obviously have to buy some beer to take home while you're there too. Pizza was definitely better than I was expecting as well.

Maine Beer Company in Freeport is a delicious stop (or destination!) that consistently delivers on both food and drinks. Their sausage and Calabrian chili pizza hits the perfect balance of savory and spicy, the honey is not overpowering, which I appreciate! The beers are really impressive, with IPAs and pale ales that are clearly crafted with care and attention to quality. They have usual favorites and some seasonal specials on tap. I love that they welcome dogs in their outdoor area, so my pup can relax along with me. It's perfectly positioned as either a great lunch break when driving further north or a nice escape from the nearby outlet shopping scene. You can tell they actually mean their "Do what's right" motto, and it shows in everything from the beer quality to the friendly atmosphere. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the Freeport area!

What a beautiful brewery! This is a must visit for any beer lover visiting Portland. Lots of space indoors and outdoors, but I choose a seat at the bar. I enjoyed a flight of beers that were all stellar. The bartenders were friendly and nice to chat with.

Maine Beer is quite the Place. Their LUNCH IPA is a regional standard and highly sought after elsewhere. Ive been to the taproom twice and was doubly pleased this session. It's just so Beautiful, modern and new and so clean!! The restroom was spotless. They were cleaning the taps near closing time and the pretzel warmer, extensively. Our beer tender Anna was so helpful and all smiles. I think it was Ian cleaning the tap and offered a free pretzel since it was in the bin time to shut down. Pretzel and house mustard are highly recommended btw. [They supposedly have great pizza] Tried a few beers, IPAs and sampled the stouts, order the Tom on nitro. The Lunch just seems iconic. Just right, not to bitter, so drinkable.

Cute little brewery with a very laid back atmosphere. They have a lot of IPAs, which my husband loves. I am not a huge fan of IPAs, so I wish they had more of a variety, but my husband does love it here. It's cool to be able to visit a brewery that you've heard so much about. They have a wood fired pizza menu available as well. Our service was fine. You order at the bar and they bring any food you get to your table.

A large brewery with ample seating on multiple levels. Their motto is Do What is Right, which is on their glasses. They donate a portion of their sales to the environment. They have a no tipping policy, but you can donate to a non- profit. The indoor space promotes their commitment to the environment. We had a few flights and lunch was everyone's favorite. It is a blend of tropical fruits with onion and pine. We also had the sweet corn and jalapeño pizza , which was amazing. The black bean puree was the base topped with a chipotle crema, corn , cheese and micro cilantro. I often do not like a lot of cilantro, but the micro cilantro was less leafy than usual and added a subtle flavor. We purchased a bottle of each beer - Breakfast, Lunch and a Dinner to go. Definitely worth a short drive from Portland.

We were in Freeport to explore while on vacation, and we wanted some beer and dinner. This place exceeded all expectations. The stout I got was delicious, and the pilsner my wife got was one of the best pilsners we've had. The pizza we got (sweet potato and nduja) was absolutely amazing. We got it because it looked unique and fun, but it was perfect. All the flavors blended perfectly together, and the nduja sausage was incredibly flavorful. It had a good amount of spice as well. On top of all that, they don't do tips here, because the workers are paid well! All "tips" instead go to nonprofits. All in all, this place was amazing, and I would definitely recommend.

We love coming to Maine Beer! Love the space. Friendly staff. And the food and drinks are always great.

Well this place was awesome ! It sucks I had to carry all my flights of beer upstairs as the bar wasn't opened up there. Would have tried more beers but there wasn't much room to drink upstairs or downstairs. Waited about five to ten minutes to even get in the place. Parking lot was at capacity after lunch time. Got some bottles and beer art to go !!!! 4.5 Stars

Came to Freeport for LL Bean and needed a spot for dinner. Landed here and so glad we did the beer, people, and food were amazing!

Delicious pizza, wonderful pilsner, great mustard w a pretzel. Salad is perfect accompaniment. Its the lil things....

Visited on a trip to New England area and found the taproom to be cool and unique! There's a (I assume model) of a whale skeleton hanging from the ceiling and tree fountain right in the middle of the taproom! I tried their beer called 'Lunch' and was pleasantly surprised how easy drinking it was. I found it on many menus around the area as well. They also had their values and contributions to wildlife and such posted around the building which was an awesome thing to see!

They have come a long way and look different in 2025 while still having a good amount of charm and uniqueness it had back then. As you could imagine by the name and the fact they opened in a former Naval Air Station they go heavy on the plane theme. Beer names especially and they offer a good variety of beer styles and have non-beer options for those not interested as well. I have enjoyed every visit including my many visits over the years here. The best time to visit is during the summer or at least nicer weather to fully enjoy their outside space. Arguably the best addition since their opening has been their food program. Think wood fire pizza and some other non-pizza offerings. My wife and I have had their pizza in the past and very much enjoyed it. This time though my wife got their Italian on Focaccia and I got one of their Chicken Bacon Ceasar sandwiches. Instead of typical bread it used a folded pizza dough and both our dishes tasted phenomenal. If you visit trying their food is a must, do not skip on it! Beer wise today we sampled four beers new to us. I got Wings their NEIPA & Vuelo Nocturno Mexican Lager while my wife got their Plane Beer American Lager and the Krösswind Kölsch. We enjoyed all four of them and we were glad to have found so many on tap we had yet to try! Flight Deck may not be an immediate thought when you think of Maine Breweries but they deserve recognition. Our puppy loved relaxing while we enjoyed our food and drinks, which makes it such an easy spot for dog owners. The location on a former military base adds a really unique atmosphere, and they do a great job leaning into that theme with thoughtful details throughout. Overall, it's a great place with great beer, great people, and an inviting atmosphere. Highly recommend. Cheers!

Several more visits since my last review…read more Some things haven't changed: -- The beers are still great. Swish, Here's to Feeling Good All the Time, Nothing Gold, and Reciprocal are a formidable foursome. At any given time, you can usually get at least two, more often three, sometimes all four. -- You'd be hard pressed (pun intended) to find a better smashburger in Portland, but I'd also put it up against any regularly-offered burger I've had in Portland--smashed or otherwise. I love everything about it, from the high caliber of the beef to the fresh pillowy milk bun to the exhilaratingly strong cure of the bacon to the razor-thin cutting of the vegetables to the execution that gets even a smashburger burger juicy. -- I'm still not crazy about the wings. They have a frozen dinner feel to them. A few things, though, have changed: -- Full service now instead of having to order everything at the bar. That's a plus. -- The place is much more crowded-- including screaming tykes-- on the weekends. Not a plus, but can't fault a place for its own popularity. -- The fries are now the industrial strength coated kind. A big minus and a sad drop off from prior greatness, but better that than from an item off the main cast. -- You can now order beer cans to go from the table rather than having to get in line. A nice convenience. A few things to know: -- It's a surprisingly good option for vegetarians and pescatarians. The veggie burger and the grilled fish sandwich are both much more than solid. -- There's outdoor seating in front of the building and also to the right. -- The bar room to the right of the entrance is adults only, so if those screaming tykes get on your nerves, this is the place to be. -- You can still order beer at the bar if that's your preference over table service. Still a favorite, and the combo of beer, food, and space is tough to beat (Mast Landing and Maine Beer in Freeport are also somewhere in that echelon).

As an IPA fan I enjoyed this new version very much for its hop saturated citrusy forward taste that drank quite smooth for the 9.5%. At this point now Bissell is broken into two separate parts. The first will be the space welcoming to families and is more of their restaurant style area. Appeared to be a popular area and does offer reservations. My preferred area is the Bissell Garden as they call it. Those entering need to be of drinking age and have more lounge vibes where you order at the bar. It still offers full kitchen menu so is perfect. Particularly my favorite is snagging bar stools to grab some beers and food. I had to try out the Super Swish while my wife grabbed their red ale named Turnpike. Then food wise we split their kitchen special Classic Poutine. Some of the best classic kept simple poutine I have had. The perfect comfort food for yet another cold weather day in Maine. Have been impressed by all the food from Bissell. Truly the only negative still stands being the fact it's on Thompson's Point and required paid parking (not Bissell Brothers call but still). One of the most popular Maine breweries for a reason especially in the IPA game. Give all their other style of beers a try too though, top notch brewery!

They had a creative station for folks to make their own Valentines. Also in the same area was a game bookshelf filled with board and card games to play. At the bar was a young man smiling as he welcomed us. We read the menu and for something different I chose "Cabin Weekend" the name reminded me of our camp in the Western mountains. We both enjoy whiskey so thought the aged barrels used for this brew would make a tasty treat. Grabbed our beers and then over to the food truck attached to the tent, clever. Bite into Maine is the food truck here today, unsure if different trucks come here or not. We wanted something small and shareable. Mac and cheese it was. We sat down at one of the many empty tables and began to enjoy our beers and food. Cabin weekend was so delicious! It was a strong onto 8.9%! Tasty with the faintest hint of whiskey and a cabin feel for the finish. The Mac and cheese was dense and rich!! The fork could practically stand upon its own!
