I almost don't want to review this brewery because I want it to stay a hidden gem! I hadn't heard of Fluvial before, but when I saw it pop up on the map while in the area I knew I had to check it out. I'm so glad I did -- it's gotta be one of my favorite breweries in Maine. Definitely top 5. The views here might just be the best in the whole state. You get stunning mountain and hill views, which were especially beautiful during our fall visit. There's plenty of outdoor seating with tables, chairs, fire pits, and even some covered spots. The indoor space is small but cozy. The beer pours were fantastic. The menu was a bit limited, but there was something for everyone. Their NEIPA and DIPA were incredibly smooth, and my partner said his pumpkin ale special was amazing. They also offer food, which was a nice surprise. We ordered the pretzels (3 pieces for $10) and they were delicious. I can't wait to go back. read more

We are on a New England self-guided beer tour, and Fluvial is stop #4 on day 4, so we have some context for comparison. (How? Small quantities.) What a great surprise. It's off the beaten path, but with a great vista. The beers are fantastic - smooth and flavorful... we are getting sick of bitter IPAs, and the selection here has the hop flavor without the bite. I Walked in to a crowded taproom, and waited in line. The guy in front of me said I had gotten there before him, and I was next. Put in my order and stepped aside to wait for the beers. Just then, 4 overly served folks in their mid 50s got in my face and threatened me for cutting them in line. I got loud and told them to fuck off. The staff inside the taproom came over and asked me to step outside, so I did. The manager told me I did nothing wrong, go have a seat. So I did. The owner came over and condescendingly gave me the "it's a family business" spiel. Never once said sorry for letting the drunk people who threatened me in front of my family stay. When I told him that wasn't good enough, he asked me to leave, so I figured if I was going to get kicked out, SOBER, might as well get my money's worth. So I went to approach the other group. Em stopped me and we left. I DM 'd the business and the owner DM'd back "This is formal notification to you that you are not welcome at Fluvial Brewing , LLC located at 860 and 866 Maple Ridge Rd. Harrison, ME 04040 from this point forward. If you choose to come on the premises going forward, you will be charged with trespassing. Deputy Sheriff Smith of the Cumberland County Sherrifs office is aware of this notification as well. Kinda cool place. Friday evening visit. Beers are way above average, bordering on excellent. Set up is weird. A bunch of loud townies/locals crowded around small seating area close to the place to order. Awkward space to maneuver around. Seating areas outside but, no fire pits were going. No heating available at all for outside seating areas. The yurt had a lot of seating but, was deserted. A lonely ole pellet stove was working hard but, in vein. no live music, kinda sad. What a view! If you follow me, you know I am not into beer... but my husband is! (I am also pregnant.) It was a hot summer day and we were staying in Sebago. It was only a 15 minute drive- pretty easy. All current seating during Covid is outside. We scored a picnic table that overlook the woods of Maine- just beautiful! They do have 2 people taking orders but with how many people were there and the space they had to cover it was a little slow. But hey, Maine is laid back! we were 2 adults and 2 kids. The kids were thrilled to get Snapples and we ordered pretzels with beer cheese. What an odd pretzel shape but it tasted good. Served warm but I wish it was larger based off the price. Can share that the beer cheese was a total win with the family (the kids had chips and dipped the chips in too! Went inside to use the bathroom and just love the pure wood look inside the building. Spacious bathroom and very clean. Read that the owners met at a river and fluvial means found in a river. Nice story- name now makes sense. Overall a cute place and glad we checked it out. read more

Fantastic place to visit! There is an indoor space and a nice outdoor space with tables, seating and lots of space where kids can run around if they are with you on vacation. Owner said they often have live music, we were there in the afternoon. View is just breathtaking and serene. Worth the drive up from Sebago or other surrounding areas. They have beer and wine, which is nice for those who don't love beer. I noticed a YURT but didn't go in but it seems like it can be rented for a private group space. They have some snacks but the absolute best were the hot soft pretzels and the beer cheese. read more

We were invited to join friends are this adventure. Fluvial is in a beautiful scenic location of Harrison, Me. Mostly beer, which I do not do but they did have a cider on tap! They have a handful of beers on tap, cider and wine. Light fare to snack on. Full pours or flights. Once you have ordered step outside to the beautiful hill side for some outside seating or into their cozy Yurt to protect from the elements. My husband found a new stout, Cosmic Eclipse Cosmic Eclipse, it is a wonderfully smooth stout brewed with a heavy dose of locally produced dark wheat partnered with some of the finest European Malts available. We lightly hopped this stout to allow for the fermentation flavors of the Irish yeast strain to shine through as the star. We then layered in a healthy dose of peanut butter that shines through on the back end. **Produced with Peanuts for those with allergies** I got myself a sweatshirt. They have cans to go and growlers. The bonus of being there was food truck onsite, Iron clad had some amazing tacos to go with Fluvial's on tap selection. We stumbled upon this location following the Iron Clad Eats. Nestled in the hillside of Harrison, this brewery has a little bit of everything. You enter into their brewery with their front counter where you can place your order for what's on tap, some light eats and some swag. Once you get your stuff, head outside to grab a seat, or head into the cozy Yurt to drink your fill. On this trip I stumbled upon my new favorite Stout. Cosmic Eclipse Stout, a peanut butter stout, very smooth and light, with a tasty finish. Staff/owners are wonderful and if you're lucky there will be a food truck. Wonderful craft beers, gorgeous location. Nothing like a Thirsty Thursday at a local brewery. We enjoyed our visit and appreciate our friends introducing us to this place. There are tables outside or if you want to sit indoors there is a yurt where you can relax. You can purchase basic snacks and swag inside at the bar. Loved this little brewery! We drove out on a whim, looking for something different than the Portland scene. It was a beautiful drive out and we found it easily. Parking was limited near the main building but we found out after that there is a large parking lot out back. Signage would have helped with this. The Maine building is cute and provides some seating and some games as well as a bathroom. They had about 5 beers on tap. They offer pizza and other snacks but we just had a beer. The staff were all super friendly and welcoming. Out back is the real gem - the view! There are many seating areas including picnic tables, seating around multiple fire pits, a covered table area and a heated yurt! So cool! They also had a ton of yard games and more board games in the yurt. I would not consider this place accessible if you have limited mobility because it's perched on the side of a rocky hill. The vibe was cool and relaxed though. We will definitely be back! read more

Staff was safe, friendly and helpful though there could have been more of them on a busy Saturday with live music. Got popcorn (a few ounces of four different kinds) and pretzels (flaming hot!) Not much to really satiate you if you are there long. The beer I had (all IPA) was ok. I liked Valley Rise the most but I'm really a hops fan and none hot that mark for me. Tasters were small for $4. All non-alcoholic drinks except water were sugary. Sweet tea OR Snapple?! Lol High Roller Lobster was there. Photo of their menu included. In Maine from out of state and heard word of this great little micro brewery in Harrison ME. So proud to have visited within the first few weeks of opening. The owners are fantastic and friendly and built the whole place by hand. Main bar area cozy and bright. There is a open field of rolling hills out back with Adirondack chairs and tables chilling and playing. Already a good following - good for them as it is well deserved with a current flight of 4 great brews. Roll Damn Rye was our fave - all were tasty. Snacks available including cheese and charcuterie. Everything is beautiful. The landscape. The view. The building. It's wonderful. I love to support anything from Harrison and although I don't drink- I will take 3 quotes from 3 patrons at my next stop to Fluvial and post them, verbatim. I did overhear "I've been here everyday since they opened 2 weeks ago." And, "Wow, that's a good beer." Both from unsuspecting non-Yelpers. I was visiting the area and looking for breweries, and this was pretty far out of my way but looked really cool so i made my way out after a hike one day. I had such a good time that I ended up making the drive and coming here two nights in a row! The view is so cool. Just sitting outside looking at the mountains, especially near dusk is so relaxing. They have really good beer -- better than some of the others in the area. There are lots of IPAs of course, but some other styles too. I always love a flight! Only the Outdoor seating is open during the pandemic, but that's great. As it gets later they light up the fire pits and it's the best. They serve snackish food, nothing I would consider "real" food right now, although apparently they do have food trucks come sometimes according to the owner. I purchased a little trail mix style snack flight and it was fun, came in a flight like my beer. My one complaint was that the second night I came I was starving and so stopped to get a burger on the way to eat there with my beer, since they don't have anything like that. One of the owners, a woman (I believe it's a husband and wife team that owns the place, as I also talked to the male owner, who just seems like an awesome person) came over to tell me that outside food wasn't allowed because they served food, and they could get in trouble with a food inspector. I don't know regulations well enough and I don't mean to judge, and I'm not one to break rules for the heck of it. but that seems unlikely that they would be responsible for people bringing outside food in, especially considering the picnic style atmosphere and the fact that they sometimes have food trucks, and that every other bar in the nearby town encourages it even though they also serve bar snacks (the burger place i found was a recommendation from one of these bars). It felt more like they just didn't want outside food because they want the business, but I really couldn't just have bar snacks after a long day of hiking and it was the perfect atmosphere to have dinner in. What about parents who bring the kids snacks and food? It does seem like a shame because I could see people hanging here for hours and drinking lots of beer if there was real food available. Anyway, seemed strange and wasn't a great start having to scarf down my burger before buying my beer and some snacks (they were getting the business either way! I'm not a light drinker and I tip well ;) ) The second night they had live music- I think it was a friday- and that was awesome. Again: Mountain View, good beer, fire pit, live music. And I brought a book because I'm a compulsive multitasker. Perfect night. Other notes: Nice clean bathroom inside, parking in the front and back (I didn't realize there was more parking in the back the first time and parked very weirdly on the front lawn. Recently on our way home from a friend's home in the area we thought we'd seek it out, hoping it would be open and, much to our delight, it was! The beer was excellent. As good, if not better than some of the micro brew we've enjoyed in Portland. Small, cozy and so very friendly- a bit out of the way, but definitely worth seeking out! Had heard about this brewery, so we gave it a try. We loved it! To start with they are serious regarding COVID - masks until you sit, server is always wearing a mask and seating is over 6 feet apart. Beautiful view and great beer. They have Cornhole, big Yahtzee, giant Jenga, and other lawn games set up. The last couple times we've gone they've had food trucks (those were delicious too), so we didn't try their snacks. But next time we will be trying their charcuterie board and soft pretzel, yum! Also, I feel totally comfortable bringing my 3-year-old there (they even have a mini Adirondack chair for kiddos!). Well I pulled i with a group of bikers on a veterans ride Saturday 9-5-2020. We showed up. I always have Jr with me. Well Jr is a service dog and a therapy dog. As we walked threw the building I asked about getting a couple waters and some lunch. I was told go sit and they would be over. Well as I sat there waiting to get served. Nope nothing. Even though I asked while I walked through. We sat at a table and would get stared at buy the servers as they waited on every other biker but us. Would look at us and nothing. Everyone had their beverages and some on the their second round. Well I took that as I wasn't welcome there. So here is your review. Also only water or Snapple to drink for none drinkers. So will I ever go back? Nope! Will I recommend them. Nope! Well you blew it for a disabled person with a service dog. Sucks when you want to try there food as well. The Fallen Saints MC had a motorcycle ride to benefit the South Paris veterans home this past Saturday and fluvial was kind enough to allow us to end our ride at their business on short notice! The amount of support there staff gave us and the others was beyond what any other business has done for us in the past ! When you show up with enough people to almost fill there capacity during these times of Covid and be greeted with a warm welcome and friendly atmosphere was a great feeling!! One of the owners being a Veteran himself took great pride in serving many of our group that where also veterans! There was an excellent selection of beers and non alcoholic drinks along with a great selection of food from an outside vender . Being that Fluvial is a small brewery that is locally owned we where amazed at how well there staff did !!!! The Fallen Saints can't thank Shaun and Lisa enough !!! We look forward to doing this again and encourage all to check this place out !! read more
