This place is amazing! We went for the first time today, and I know the next time I'm in Spencer I'll have to be back. Got a delicious peanut butter cup latte and a tamale from Bivis Tamales, some of the best tamales I've had at some locations in Bloomington as well. I wish I'd had it in me to grab a chocolate muffin too. Highly recommend. read more

Wow! Really excellent. Went today for the first time and had lunch. Super friendly service at the counter. Ordered the tamale lunch with rice and beans, a mocha and a blueberry muffin. Even though they had a sizable lunch crowd, the food came out quickly and the servers were great. Delicious food and the mocha was awesome. Two thumbs up, will return for sure. Everything was lovely! I had the carnitas bowl with Irish crème Iced coffee. The iced coffee was ok. It had more caffeine than sweet. The cartina bowl had guacamole/avocado, brown rice, tomatoes, lettuce, pulled pork, black beans, jalapeños. Legit and healthy. It was big too! Definitely satisfied. Kind of pricey though, but it was allot and I had a small bowl. This was my first time. It was packed and staff were extremely nice and informative on helping me what to get. Very clean, organized and decorative. Definitely coming back. Just wish it was more adorable lol read more

I'm from out of town and a big coffee drinker and Main Street by far has my favorite latte and I grab one every time I visit. The staff is always so friendly and helpful and the reason I found this delicious drink after mentioning a few things I like and what would be something good to try. Even on the weekends the wait is still fast and it's such a welcoming atmosphere and cozy too if you want to dine in. Main Street Coffee is a super cute coffee shop in the adorable town of Spencer, Indiana. I stopped here after hiking at McCormick's Creek State Park. Not only do they offer an extensive coffee menu, they also offer unique food items. I ordered an Iced Carmel Macchiato, which was a step above Starbucks. However what I am most excited about are the Tamales offered! They have Tamales Tues-Saturday and they are delicious and completely unexpected! Breath taking atmosphere! Adequate parking for its size. Very friendly and attentive staff. Delicious food and baked goods. I had a very young waitress who was very professional for her age! It is also a little shop as well. They have wifi and a variety of seating. Family owned and you can tell by all of the personal touches from fantastic service to the thoughtful menu, it's all there. What a gorgeous gem in the heart of Spencer! I love the hometown but modern vibe, the decor is modern but a bit of country-super clean too! Lots of choices, very easy to pick from. I love the soup options too, perfect for a quick lunch. We had a meeting there in the front and the employees were so sweet to use, brought our drinks over and even chatted a bit. Felt very welcome. Yes, yes,YES! I visited and fell in love with Main Street Coffee 5 years ago,my only qualm at the time was there were no public bathrooms. 5 years later I have relocated to Indiana and had been watching through recent renovation and was thrilled to see they had reopened, finally I was able to come down from Indy when they were open. Worth the wait! Worth the drive! My new favorite coffee shop of anywhere I travel. I was charmed to learn this is a family business and a labor of love. I just love everything about this place. The coffee is rich and smooth and super aromatic. The coffee drinks are the best I've had because they don't taste laden with corn syrup and they are not too sweet, just perfect. I adore the overall aesthetic. Lots of living greenery placed in just the right nooks and areas. Beautiful hand wrought tables in the booths. Cozy and inviting but also great natural light in the main dining areas from huge windows. The decor is somehow both mysterious and last 2 centuries AND modern and hip and fun. As a bike enthusiast I love the antique bike flying lit overhead. My only want is, more breakfast selections during the week but I imagine this will come as folk learn about this wonderful place. AND they now have TWO beautiful, pristine, comfortable bathrooms! As promised 5 years ago that garners a million stars! read more

The atmosphere is incredibly inviting, very clean, the coffee is spectacular. The bananas foster coffee is worth telling your friends about. Their food is far better than you'd expect from a coffee shop. Not sure if someone has a culinary degree back there, but the flavors of all the lunch entrees are balanced and truly divine. I've had their white chicken lasagna Chile, their tamales, a burrito of some sort, and their eggs in a hole. Everytime I eat here I leave saying "wow, they did it again; another incredible meal". This place is a real gem in downtown Spencer on the square! The best coffee (and flavored creamers WOO!) in town and they have an amazing lunch menu. Tamales are THE BEST as are ANY of their salads, soups, or paninis. I LOVE this place and highly recommend it to anyone local to Spencer or just passing through. What a fun surprise for this City Mouse from downtown Houston TX! Perfectly brewed cup of coffee (no mocha or other silliness for me), followed by a selection of huge damn tamales. Chewy and thick masa with a selection of fillings that any taqueria in Texas would be proud to serve. The S.O. had a fresh blueberry Belgian waffle, also cooked perfectly. Very.impressed. Awesome little place! We stopped in here on the way to hike at McCormick's Creek. The staff is extremely friendly, and it's a cozy little gem in Spencer. Sampling's of any coffee you want to try. Both the Sumatra and Trail Head were delicious. I tried the bacon cheddar egg in a hole sandwich with garlic mustard. It was awesome! You also couldn't go wrong with the peanut butter sweet cream sandwich either. The blueberry muffin was on point, too. I would definitely come back! read more

Wow what a great little addition to Spencer. We come to the park & rent cabins for a family gathering. I saw they had added this little place so we opted to leave the coffee pot at home. Hubster was very pleased with them & went in each morning to bring back coffee & scones. After others heard, he was bringing more than that back. ha but didn't mind... I am so excited Spencer has a place like this! My parents live nearby, so we stopped in while visiting. It reminds me of the cool establishments on Mass Ave in Indy. The atmosphere and decor are unique & quaint, very inviting. The food is awesome! We tried the carnitas bowl and a chicken tamale. Fresh, homemade, amazing flavors. They have several fresh, baked goods and hot & cold drinks. It's refreshing to have a local establishment serving fresh food. It beats the typical chain restaurant. I hope Spencer residents support this place so they can continue to expand and thrive. Ellettsville, Stinesville, & Bloomington folks - it is worth the drive! Oh, also, a local artist sells handcrafted jewelry there too. So cute!! I'm hoping for the best for Main Street Coffee! I'll be back when I'm in town! read more

She had him for a month and he was bullying the other cat he came with, the other cat became scared, wouldn't eat, and was having bathroom issues. She also had many correspondences with Btown Meow about him over text with I can provide that show her trying her best to figure out how to make him feel at home, and bringing her concerns up over weeks. He was ripping chunks of fur out of the other kitty. He bit her 6 year old and also bit her toe and broke way through her skin, aggressively, not playfully. My cousin decided to return just him and now the other cat is FLOURISHING! He's happy and not scared, he's pottying right, and he's good with the small kids she has. They posted after she had to return him and they literally made a rude post about his return, and everyone was being rude in the comments about it. Fast forward this cat gets re-adopted to someone else, and guess what, after a month he's returned again! I commented nicely saying hopefully this time they will learn to get him in an environment that he can live in because he has aggression issues and they've deleted my comment and blocked me. This just shows they do not care about the welfare of animals but instead having good adoption numbers only. What a concerning situation. If a cat is aggressive they need to be in a home that can fully handle them, and the adopters or potential adopters need to be able to understand the needs of the cat. It is concerning they do not seem care about the needs of the cats they adopt out. I urge you to be cautious of this place. I've attached screenshot of my comment on their post today (plus their post) that has now either been removed or I just can't see because they chose to block me instead of having any accountability.

It was unsweetened by default. The donut came in a paper box which was good packaging because it's relatively eco-friendly and protects the structure of the donut if you're taking it to go. I did see they had also had plates but forgot to ask for one. There's actually a pretty large seating area in the back of the shop plus a patio. The two workers there were helpful and friendly.

Main Street Coffee is that family owned and operated shop you hope to find while out exploring new areas. The owners are wonderfully kind people who will engage you and help you select the perfect coffee to suit your taste. The menu is quaint but the flavor packed into each hand crafted dish is anything but. I work nearby and look forward each week to their sandwiches, caritas, and the most amazing gyros! Hands down the best place to get breakfast in the state! The Egg in the Hole sandwich is my favorite breakfast food in the world. If you want something cheaper, you can't beat the Cinnamon Toast, it's like a fancy version of what your mom made you for breakfast. Very kind staff, family owned and they are Christians! They also have some gluten free options. Although the building is a bit small right now, there's outside seating options and they're renovating to create more space. I asked for something with pumpkin spice, and even though none was available on the day I went in, the manager asked an employee to go get some pumpkin spice grounds from the back and make a custom cup of coffee for me! It's Sunday morning in downtown Bloomington. Busy happens. What followed was not "busy." It was astonishingly poor service and even worse problem-solving. My wife and daughters ordered, and then we waited. After AN HOUR, my wife went inside to ask what was happening. She was told, "Sorry, the IU basketball team is here. Let me see what happened." Apparently the arrival of the IU basketball team creates some kind of breakfast singularity in which ordinary customers cease to exist. The employee said they would check. They never came back. Another 45 minutes passed. So after ONE HOUR AND FORTY-FIVE MINUTES, my wife and daughter -- both of whom had been loyal Inkwell customers -- were left feeling like they simply did not matter because more important people had walked through the door. That is what makes this experience so disappointing. Restaurants get busy. Orders get lost. Mistakes happen. But when you discover that a family has been waiting an hour, tell them you will investigate, disappear for another 45 minutes, and then offer essentially no apology, urgency, ownership, or attempt to make things right, that is not a kitchen problem. That is a customer-service problem. Eventually they agreed to refund us. So the single star is awarded because Inkwell did, in fact, return our money after failing to provide breakfast and did not lock the doors to prevent our escape. Cherish it.
