The server we had, Kai, was excellent, he was very helpful and kind, as were all the other staff members. It's quite the welcoming atmosphere and I would definitely go again. The restaurant had pescatarian friendly options and some vegan options as well even. I will say that the appetizers were underwhelming and I fear I did not take a picture. We got a three way sampler plate of pretzel bites, mozzarella sticks and onion rings for my group. I think I honestly misunderstood the portion sides so that's on me. The appetizers were on the same plate, were very small (I recall three mozzarella sticks for my party of four) and they frankly tasted mid sadly. I got the Grilled Salmon with the Chili rub and my boyfriend got the Crab Rangoon Flatbread (does not come with fries, despite fries in the photo). I enjoyed the Grilled Salmon and everything else in the plate besides the green beans unfortunately. The flatbread was delightful too! In town for a wedding, hit the Pub after the rehearsal dinner. Drinks were in drinkable and got up charged for food we didn't order. Wife's blueberry mojito tasted like tonic water & mint leaves, no blueberry flavor at all. Son's Manhattan was all whiskey with no Vermouth or bitters. He ordered an Old Fashioned to replace it, and that tasted like cleaning solution. Blueberry Mojito -- $9.99, Manhattan -- $10.05 Got charged for the undrinkables, then got upcharged for adding cheese and chili to our fries -- even though we didn't add, order or receive either. Basket was supposed to be $6.99 but ended up $12.99 for add-ons we didn't order. Server was kind, but bartender needs training. We just had the absolute worst lunch. Or I should say 2 of us out of our party of 3. My husband ordered the french dip, not deluxe, he did not want onions. Sandwich came and it is covered in onions. Server put it down as deluxe when he clearly said, not deluxe. He sends it back, no big deal. Not even 5 minutes later the server comes back with his sandwich. The kitchen staff chose to just scrape a few onions off, not even all of them. He cannot eat onions. So, my husband did not eat. Okay, I had a bad experience on July 4, but this was especially upsetting because it was the Fourth of July and also my mom's birthday meal. Mom got a salad. I guess it was good because she had no complaints. I got the French dip sandwich with fries (they call it something else than the French dip). First things first. The fries tasted like old fish oil. They seasoned them well, probably to cover up the old fish flavor. Please change your frying oil on occasion. Second, the sandwich tasted like, um, weasel. Come to think of it, I'd rather eat weasel. The grilled onions were something you'd throw out the back door and hope no wild animals would eat. Like the cooks shuffled them around in the fish oil. The cup of au jus was essentially non-existent, maybe 2 ounces. I drank it like a soup, but it had no flavor. Go buy a can of Campbell's au just or something, you'll do better. On the bright side, the hoagie bun was delicious! My dog devoured it and asked for more. But the worst part was the service. The little waitress thing pretended not to know how to use the credit card thing. She was acting all ditzy. It could be that she was ditzy. A local restaurant with a huge menu. Service is nice. Kids eat free on Sunday's which includes a main, a drink, a side and a sundae. The food is okay. Nothing is bad, but it's never delicious either. It kind of reminds me of mass produced generic food. The seasonings lack. My hubby's pot roast sandwich had stringy meat with some fatty grisly pieces. Seasoning was salt and pepper. I had a salad in a wrap, it was okay. If I had it again I would ask for the dressing on the side. The shrimp and avocado tasted okay. Will we come back? Probably. For the four of us to eat on a Sunday it was less than a trip to Culver's. Is it destination dining? Not so much. However they have nice servers, specials, and it's local. I had heard a lot about this place so I was curious to try it. It's a very casual and friendly vibe - there were a lot of families when I got there on a Friday night. I was looking for places to eat on a 6pm Friday night and was worried about places would get super crowded. Well, I figured Main St. Pub in Allendale wouldn't have that problem, and I was right! I got the Pot Roast and the Strawberry Mojito. There's not much to report - it was fine and just very regular. It didn't seem like they pride themselves on the quality of food, but just more for... being a location that was accessible and friendly that served American food? To be honest, the food reminded me of cafeteria food. It was filling, but it wasn't like... great. The flavors were just like the cafeteria food I've had in the past. The vegetables looked like the ones I'd get frozen at Costco and heat up. The Strawberry Mojito was good! It was refreshing and I enjoyed the little bits of real strawberry in them. Service was great; our waitress was very friendly and checked up on us often. So, the service was great, but the food... eh. I wouldn't come here for food, but more so the family friendly American vibe. It's a convenient place to eat though. read more

We always enjoy going to Main St. Pub. I recommend the Ranch Fritter Wrap, Buffalo Style. They often have multi-course dinner specials as well if you want something more family-style or homemade feeling. Service can at times be on the slow side if they are very busy, but slow service is the exception and not the rule. They have both dining room and bar areas, and they respectively have very different noise levels. The sports bar tends to be louder, but with lots of TVs around to watch the game. The dining area is separated and has a lot of booths that can seat up to 6 people. It's much quieter, so choose appropriately depending on your crew! read more

My friend and I went the for lunch and they called the server's head wrap (that was very neat and stylish) offending to their customers since their brand is conservative. Lastly, when we went for lunch another time the same worker was wearing her natural hair and the manager called her hair 'interesting'. Before I give you all of the WRETCHED details, I would like to start off by saying our server was WONDERFUL, I believe his name was Brezey (my apologies for misspelling). HOWEVER, there were many instances in which I overheard the manager SCREAMING at her staff, and I mean ripping them apart, not just stressful banter. After one instance, I overheard the manager yelling, then saw a poor girl leave the kitchen in tears. Believe me I've done my fair share in the restaurant industry so I understand how hectic it can get, but that is NEVER an excuse to mistreat others. In my opinion, If you have poor communication skills, you should not be working at a restaurant, let alone as a MANAGER. I feel truly sorry for these college kids who are just trying to earn a living. Its hard enough in this modern economy, let alone showing up to work for such a petulant manager (petulant: childish and ill tempered, in case she reads this because I suspect her vocabulary most likely isn't developed enough to understand). I took my daughter out to eat here and she told me she worked here for about a week. Manager, Jamie, was notorious for making her employees cry. Why is that a normalized thing? It was my first time at eating at Main St. Pub. Everyone was very nice, service was fast and the restaurant was clean. It definitely gave off sport pub vibes and they had plenty of TVs so we could watch the football games. The waitress suggested the ranch fritter wrap and it most certainly didn't disappoint. And then we decided to get the barbecue burger with fries and the perch with mashed potatoes. The burger was dry. The bun was wet. There was barely any fries. I got a half Caesar salad and they barely filled the bowl. The lettuce was also rotting. the fish was breaded with chicken tender breading. Each bite of perch was filled with bones. I understand one or two bones but multiple bones in each bite is crazy. So I decided to try the mashed potatoes, which were an extra two dollars. They were instant potatoes. The past few years the quality and taste of the food has decreased considerably, sometimes we would get good food, and other times not.
