I honestly had one of the worst experiences ever at Main St Auto Clinic. From the second I walked in, the vibe was off. The staff was rude, dismissive, and acted like I was bothering them just for being there. No professionalism at all just straight attitude right from the start. Then it got even worse. They refused to work on my car and wouldn't give me a clear reason why. Instead, they told me the part I needed wasn't available, which I later found out wasn't even true. It felt like they were just making excuses and didn't want to deal with it. The whole situation started to feel really shady. I kept getting the runaround, and at one point it honestly felt like they were trying to keep my registration or make things more difficult than they should've been. That's not just bad customer service that's completely out of line. I wouldn't trust this place with my car at all. If you care about your time, your money, and being treated with basic respect, go somewhere else. read more

Beware of this mechanic shop. My parents went in to get their car smog because it didn't pass smog and they went in with the voucher and the owner charged the full price which was $800 of the voucher and I have receipts where he only charged 250 for the smog check he was reported to the place that gives out the vouchers and also BBB . I called the place that gave us the voucher and they said that he had noted he put parts into the vehicle and it passed smog when we went and smog it somewhere else because they wanted 1600 for just a loose hose . read more

Went in for a smog check, I wanted to go to Trimark but this place came up 1st and it was empty so I decided to stop by... Should have read the Google reviews on this place before... Like many others on there, they will fail your smog test for the dumbest of reasons and charge you 80 bucks... And the kicker, a retest is the same price!! It makes no sense.. the next day I took it to Trimark and it passed it .. the reason they gave me was that the "computer wasn't ready" so it didn't fail, it just wasn't "ready" I've never heard that in my life lol it just seems like they fail you in hopes that you come back again and retest it at full price .. save yourself the time and go literally next to to Trimark. read more

12-27-23 Had a smog check done here yesterday because I was selling my truck but it didn't pass the test. It passed everything except the catalytic converter so they suggested I drive my truck around for awhile and they tested it again and it still didn't pass. They again suggested to drive it a little longer and it finally passed. I really appreciated that they took the time to explain everything and they seemed to want me to get it resolved the cheapest way first. Good people here! Thank you! read more

I should of read the reviews before going there for a smog! I had recently had my battery disconnected and didn't know that would cause my smog test to fail. When he used his mechanic terms to tell me that it failed. I asked him what that meant and what I needed to do on my end. All he did was point at a paper he has on the counter. Horrible customer service. I went to another smog shop right down the street and the first thing they asked me was have you recently disconnected your battery. You would think that Main street Auto would choose to be helpful in order to gain return customers. read more

This place is a joke if I could give zero stars I would. We had a voucher for 850. to help us pass smog and they of course used up all of that PLUS wanted more on top of that. Thank you to the staff at Main St Auto Clinic for properly diagnosing my car and fixing the problem. My car failed to pass the smog and started to create additional problems. I had given up on my car after multiple attempts of trying to fix it. I decided to take my car to Main Street Auto Clinic. John was confident he would find the root cause. This was my 3rd and final smog shop today. They were able to see me next, had me in and out in about 45mins. They have excellent customer service and knowledge about smog and car repair. They even know some programs that can help you if your car doesn't pass. The value for the smog and license were pretty much the same as the other 2 also. read more

I took my van to get smogged and it failed. The owner gave me a number for a program that helped me pay for the smog repair. They did the repair and my van passed. Failed initial test. Upon conversation with owner I explained to him I just changed battery he advised that I needed to do drive cycle to get sensors to register. My experience was headed in the EXACT same direction as AM experience, 2 reviews below. NEVER GO HERE! Tried to upset and tell me I needed to call CAP. I seriously believe (just my opinion)this place is scamming people and intentionally messing with their cars so they can get money from whatever this government CAP program then charging customers on top of it. I literally paid $16 to put a clamp on the PVC hose and it was fixed. My vehicle passed all the crucial emission tests. His paperwork literally says "tape on PCV hose". It was a visual issue not an emission issue. Quality Smog on Walnut and Mooney has my business for life. read more

I took my car in to get a smog. My car didn't pass and I put in application for the California CAP program for assistance in repairing my vehicle. I was approved for the program and took my vehicle back to Main Street Auto Clinic. The owner said I had to pay for another smog inspection, which I wasn't very happy about because I thought I could get a re-smog for free like most places. I agreed, the smogged my car and obviously it didn't pass again. The owner said it might be the catalytic converter. So I authorized him to get one and put it in. The CAP program paid for most of the cost. They smogged it again and it didn't pass. The owner said he could diagnose it for a fee of 130.00. I wasnt pleased but went ahead and payed. They had my car for a week. Occasionally I would stop by and check on it. One day, the owner called me and said it passed smog and I owed another 160.00 for parts. I agreed to pay and went to pick up the car. As I was leaving the car began to sputter in second and third gear and the a/c didn't blow cold when I first gave them the car. I turned around and immediately went back to this shop. Spoke to the owner and said he could check the car out, so he pulled it back into the shop. I waited. The owner came to me with the technician and told me everything look good with car and I owed him another 130.00 for them to look at it/diagnosis. I told him I wasn't going to pay because the car is running worse than I had brought it to him and they had messed up my car. The owner said okay you don't want to pay, then ill keep the car and he began closing the roll up door. I told him okay keep the car I'll call the cops. Cops were on the way but I knew they couldn't do anything about it because it's a civil matter. I payed the 130.00. Do yourself a favor and do not come here.
