Maili sunset: drwamsicle, mango, guava with snowtop.

Located a few blocks from the Maili Pillbox hike in a quaint neighborhood. This small store sells food, drinks, household goods AND the best shaved ice on the West side. Outdoor seating and a beautiful mural for your pics.

Our service was exceptional! The shaved ice has many options. I picked no ice cream and opted for the li hing powder. There's a table inside of you want to sit. Outside has a table as well. Highly recommended after you climb to see the pill box.

We found this shaved ice spot near Ko'Olina. It's a small shop that's in a residential area near a 76 gas station. The owners were very nice and helpful. It's a small shop that sells shaved ice, drinks, and snacks. The shaved ice was very good, especially on a hot day. The shaved ice could have been a bit softer, but it was delicious none the less. If you're in the area, come support local businesses for some good shaved ice! Happy Nom Nom.

We have been on a bit of an ice cream and shaved ice expedition lately. Since we are often on the west side, this was next on our list. They building, at the beginning of a residential street, is covered in beautiful artwork can be a little misleading as the name does not match what on yelp but we could still tell we were in the correct place. It is a small superette that also offers shave ice and ice cream and other treats. The auntie that took our order was adorable and took our whole order at one time (6 of us) but still in standard shave ice order (size, ice cream, flavor, toppings) and then made our entire order before serving the next guest. She did have a young man helping her. The shave ice itself is nothing extraordinary but the artwork on the cups is beautiful and the shave ice still serves its purpose after a beach day.

Service is always so warm and welcoming. Aunty is always there, never misses a beat and works so hard. Their shaved ice is mayjah size and quality, but they also make milkshakes, halo halo cups and have a wide variety of all your favorite snacks and drinks. They have a cute lil table inside you can sit at and eat indoors in their lovely AC. Or you can eat outside, they have couple picnic tables right outside as well.

Raspberry Shave Ice & Don't forget your snow cal

Sweet treat in Maili! The small size is perfect. I got Red Raspberry with Vanilla Ice Cream inside. Topped with Snow Cap! (Snow cap is either condensed milk , or evaporated milk with simple syrup) Yum!!

You see, it's Maile Shave Ice, NOT Maili!!

OMG, finally got to try Maile Shave Ice (it's Maile, NOT Maili)!! Called them to make sure they were open before venturing over and, yes, I was assured they were there!! Took us about 15 minutes to drive there, but for delicious shave ice, that's no problem! The older gent at the store was welcoming and friendly. Asked us if we were visiting or if we were local. Told us about his time in Southern California for school years ago. Really nice and friendly guy. As always, I ordered my shave ice with vanilla ice cream. When he started scooping up the ice cream, I was floored by the amount he put in the cups! It was a full scoop and a half! Where's the shave ice going to go? Well, he carefully mounded the powder snowlike shave ice on top of all that ice cream and poured on the syrup. I had passionfruit, pineapple, and strawberry. My husband had cherry, pineapple, and strawberry. Wow, it was fantastic! One of the best shave ices we've had on this trip. Well worth the time, effort, and gas!!

I forgot to snap a photo sooner .

Yelp never lets us down! This sweet family has awesome shaved ice. We tried the highly recommended Vintage Island shaved ice...nope not for us. This place has your classic (not crunchy gravel) shaved ice. Flavors were delicious and their ice cream was delicious.

**Review is from pre-covid (Feb 2020), just cleaning up my drafts and posting them** CASH ONLY They offer both shaved ice and ice cream here. There's a large variety of flavors to choose from for shaved ice. I got a medium ($3.50) with watermelon, pog, and lemon lime. My favorite was the lemon lime, but the other flavors were good as well. My only complaint was that there didn't seem to be enough syrup. When I was about halfway through, I started seeing some ice that wasn't colored (i.e. it was unflavored). This is a great spot for a post-hike snack after doing the Maili Pillbox hike nearby! My friends and I also tried their butter mochi. It was okay but not as good as some of the others I've had.

We were visiting Ko'olina and wanted some shaved ice and wow sooo delicious! We loved it!!! We will be back. The lady and the young boy servicing us were soo nice and the flavor was sooooo good!

Snow capped shaved ice

It's a little shack off a main road and honestly, it smells like a fart and it's cash only, it's like they don't want you to come. However, the shaved ice not only is it pretty easy on the wallet but damn it's a great shaved ice. It's like base is snow cone-ish but that snow cap adds a nice smooth, snow ice type texture as well. The snow cap is what makes it. Take a look at the menu and figure out what you want because otherwise they get a little impatient.

As soon as I walked in there was a picture of a blended li hing drink with mango. SOLD! I asked if it could be made less sweet, no sugar, and the super helpful smiling young lady behind the counter said it was made with syrups and jams so she couldn't remove the sugar. She had mentioned something about candy so I asked what that was (to not have it added) and she explained it was on the straw. Ok. Geev um, I goin try someting new. I waited in the air conditioned shop while she blended it right up. She handed it to me with napkins and an additional non-candy straw. Which made sense as I tried to use the candy straw and I guess it's stuck full of candy? As it didn't work I added the second straw and BAM! Flavor! It's not too sweet. It's not too li hing mui salty. I can taste the mango. And it's really refreshing. My new fav summer drink!

Friendly greeting and welcoming vibes upon entrance into…read morethe store. I miss coming to this spot with family to get plate lunches when we lived down in waianae, but since we haven't been to this location in a while we finally made the attempt yesterday from Kapolei to come down to Maili. I'm happy we did because the pastele plates we got was 1/1 mild and spicy with Mac salad and 2 scoop rice. The meat was tender and savory giving you the correct amount of flavor with seasoning and balance. You can tell they put the heart into making these. Although there are many variations to Pasteles this one is my favorite. The Mac salad is good also better than other places I've tried. The opihi I also brought and added my own sauce to it with and enjoyed it with their Hawaiian Style (Inamona) poke on the side. My only recommendation is the panadeja was more of a pulled pork look and of course that's what it is but I was looking for more of a stew consistency of which it was not. Now don't get me wrong the flavor wasn't lacking and was juicy but it was just shredded pork inside and you can see couple of black olives that's it. I will still purchase them but a slight upgrade would be nice to those, just my opinion.

Its a two story green building right off the highway. There is 6 or 7 parking spaces in front and a few on thr side of thebuilding. The entrance is in the middle of the building. The staff is super cool. Cory (pic) was super friendly and welcomed us with a smile The insides is of an old school general store setting but the main seller here is their food. A lot of varietyon the menu (pic) we went with the chicken wings (good) lau lau (ok) shoyu chicken (phenomenal) I am sure they sell out for sure!!! and the empanadas(soo good!!) They probably sell out of this too. Portions was fair and prices reasonable. (Nothing is cheap anymore) Its a place I always drove by and wondered about but now next time I am in the area will be stopping by here for sure!! A hidden jem in plain sight
