Mailboxes & Accessories conveniently located in Burbank - just minutes from Hollywood and Studio City, offers the acceptance of safe mail and documented shipment delivery services. The new owner works diligently to accommodate the needs of the customers and often goes beyond the call of duty with being personable. There is a reason why this business is unclaimed because they don't want to acknowledge how bad they are. Sure they remodled the place but stay away because they lie, they are over priced and they don't own up to their mistakes. They come off as friendly but do not be fooled. Dee needs to rename herself to F. Previous owners were sooo good. Any old 5star reviews do NOT apply to the new owners and yelp should remove them so you see the new owners true ranking. Potential future customers don't think the old 5stars apply to the current ownership. Any recent 5star reviews, I'm 99.9% sure where done by new ownership's friends or family do NOT trust those. If yelp had a negative ranking I would have selected that, as one star is too generous. Should I spend time and money to sue them in small claims, I should and I would win but collecting from these people would be a waste of time. read more

I have never in my life had an experience like this!!! 7-8-2022: After 20 minutes, shaking, all I could think was to start videoing on & off (which i have never done before!). It went on another 20 minutes. I have put the video on VIMEO - the link is below. I got a box at this location in 1990. Doris & Vince were the owners and Mark ran it. My photo is on the wall. We were friendly for 32 years! I knew Mark's parents & his sister, Gi. Then one day in 2021, this man Hike was there & he told me he was the new owner! I had some packages to send out & asked him how he wanted to be paid as Mark would invoice me & I'd write them a check. He said he didn't have credit card set up yet so he'd invoice me. Then Mark was around again working part time. Mark told me that he would continue to invoice me. Hike started remodeling, his wife was helping on some days. Hike seemed very overwhelmed & said he wasn't sure if he could 'save the place'. Another day when I brought in packages to send out, Hike said they now didnt have USPS or UPS set up under him, again I asked about being invoiced. He said, "We'll get to it." I made the usual joke, 'well, you know where to find me', as I came in every friday to pick up mail & boxes. I had come in on the Friday before, seen Hike, & picked up my mail. He didnt say anything while I went behind the boxes & grabbed my mail. I usually didnt have my key for my box anymore so I would always say hello to Mark, & now Hike, & just go grab my mail from behind for at least a decade. I'd ask "Any packages?" & they'd say yes or no. Then the following Friday I came in & the bars were closed mid day. I had never seen that before so I said, "Hello? Mark? Hike?" She came out. I said cheerfully, "hello, just picking up my mail" She looked at me & said, "Then where's your key?!" I laughed & said, I don't even know, I just grab it from behind. She rolled her eyes & said, "not anymore". I said something like, So Hello, Im Kristin, Are you just starting working here? Mark hadn't been well lately & I had been worried about him. I had been trying to help him get his medicare set up. She said, "NO! I am the new owner!" I said, "oh...Hike sold it? When?" This was a surprise as he was really trying to make it a cafe & a computer center etc & I had seen him ONE week ago. She then said something like, "Without key, no mail" I explained I had been coming here for 31 years, (I was wrong it was 32) & I dont know where my key is anymore actually. "What box?" I told her, 284. she went behind, got my mail & I heard her mumbling complaining about how things would be different now. She went back to her desk & while i waited she was shuffling papers angrily saying what a mess everything is & how Hike never invoiced anyone & how Mark did everything on slips of paper ... & she then said i hadn't paid for 1 yr. & my box was closed. I nicely explained that I had asked them how they wanted to do things now & they just said they'd keep invoicing me but hadn't. She said well, its not $80 anymore its now $120 or something. I said, fine, how do you want to be paid? Check, credit card? She kept shuffling papers endlessly, pacing. IT WAS VERY VERY VERY WEIRD. Im thinking, ALL my mail comes here! So im trying to just get her to take my card so I can get my mail! I also have a zoom meeting for work & its been 20 minutes. She just kept shuffling papers & Im trying to stay calm as she rants AT me (not easy). AFTER TWENTY MINUTES & I just kept repeating, I WILL PAY - HERE IS MY CARD - PLEASE GIVE ME MY MAIL ....She would not take my card until I lost patience & started filming her. SHE NEVER GAVE ME MY MAIL EVER AGAIN even after she charged my card for one more year. It was the most insane thing I have ever seen in my life. She just kept yelling YOU WANT EVERYTHING FOR FREE - YOU DONT WANT TO WORK. She does not know anything about me. I told her at one point sarcastically, I think I can afford $300 & then she really went EXTRA CRAZY! "WHY YOU BRAG ABOUT ALL YOUR MONEY!" I never told her anything about me. It was so insulting. Then she would not give me back my credit card after I gave it to her!!! My husband went in & got my CC back & got his mail but after charging my card for $400 w/ no invoice, she returned to sender my mail without telling me FOR ONE YEAR I found out! I spent about 80 hours changing every single address in MY ENTIRE LIFE over the next months. So much mail was lost. IT WAS HELL! My packages were lost or sent back - she never said but they disappeared. You know how many things i have on autoship after 32 years that went there??? IT WAS HELL! I swear on my beloved father's grave - I walked in. I introduced myself, asked for my mail & agreed Hike seemed disorganized & here is my card & she went OFF!!! I have been a customer since 2007 and my review is based on the fact that I too am a business owner and, like me, these owners are investing their time and efforts into this business to hopefully make a profit some day. The original owners (Vince & Doris) were very sweet and wonderful to their customers and I always enjoyed chatting with them. But they also let the place became run down and out dated and never increased the pricing for Box Rentals. Then in 2021 a new owner who was just as nice and friendly made some good changes to the interior of the business but was not able to make the changes needed to become profitable and sold it the next year. Dee, the new owner, has done what any smart business person would do, she increased the rentals rates to current values. At first I was upset. I mean, I was expecting a price increase because this place was well below the going rate for PO Box rentals. But a 300% increase was hard to swallow. I have another PO Box in Woodland Hills and was paying even more for the same size box so I knew the increase was not unreasonable. Other places in Burbank were very similar to the new prices so it was hard to argue that she was price gouging. Naturally, some customers would leave and that is a chance any owner takes. I have taken the time to get to know Dee who is very kind and hard working. Again, I'm writing this review as a fellow business owner who understands that hard decisions sometimes need to made in order to stay in business. Raising the rates and enforcing US Postal laws was an unpopular move but one that had to be made. Seriously, she has done an amazing job of sprucing up the place and bringing in gift items and other services. The place is bright and welcoming and offers so much more than before. Please pay attention to the most recent reviews. THIS PLACE IS ABSOLUTELY ABYSMAL!!!¹ We had a box for over 20 years and loved the personal service we got from Doris and Vince. Ultimately, it was sold to the most incompetent person. She decided to "make changes" by quadrupling prices, berating long-time customers, not answering concerns, and possibly losing mail. We left in September 2022. I just received a call from a cousin who just had her Christmas card returned recently that was sent in mid- December. Over 2 months later. Who knows how much other mail they possibly misplaced?? The post office had many complaints about them when I went there (before untimately leaving) because we suddenly were hardly getting any mail. I spoke to many people when we left who were all dissatisfied (or should I say pissed off) and also ran away from this new owner. Incompetent, rude and condescending are the adjectives I would use to describe my feelings about this place. Please do your homework and find somewhere where they actually do a good job for a fair price. read more

My family and I have been doing business here for 30 plus year. Last year the business was sold, the new owner increased the price of mail boxs to double the going rate. They have lost my mail returned important documents to sender in error. They have no clue and have even pissed of the local post office . I move to a new mailbox service and the didnt even know the right paperwork to file with the post office to forward my mail. read more

I've had my mailbox for over 10 years. Since the new owner recently took over management (within the last four months or so), I agree with the other review that the new owner is very argumentative, does not know what she's doing, returns mail, even though it is properly addressed, and is hiking her prices three times to four times more than what was previously charged. Furthermore, her rates are NO where near what other mailboxes are charging. For example, she is charging $438 or $458 for a small mailbox rental for the year. other locations just not even two blocks away, at the UPS store, charge $276 for the year for a small mailbox rental. This place used to be great with the previous owners. STAY AWAY the new owner SUCKS and is trying to rip you off! read more

Ok, Let's speak the truth about this business. The previous owners Vince and Doris were good people who felt sorry for those that couldn't pay (or didn't want to pay) $80.00 every six months to rent a mailbox and let them keep it without paying. By the way, this $80.00 is the same rate I've been paying since the mailbox was opened in 2003. The other issue is there were people coming into the store and keeping the lock box keys and then at night after business hours, placing a box in the lock box and then later someone else would come in and take the box out. Sounds like they were using the business to deal drugs. So, it is my opinion that all of these previous bad reviews over the last 5-6 months most likely fall into one of the above scenarios, or they were never a box owner and are friends of one of the above scenario people. In order to remove the bad reviews of previous non owners of mailboxes yelp charges an exorbitant fee. I did not know the new owner Dee prior to her taking over this business, and have only developed a relationship with her since. I am glad that she has put up security cameras and has done a remarkable job remodeling the entire business inside and out making it a safer place then it was. And, most importantly, has put a stop to all the shenanigans that were going on previously. Dee has been the owner for over a year now, and I have not had one issue with any of my mail. She is a good, honest, and sincere person who cares about people and even let these idiots that didn't want to pay slide for months before cancelling their mailbox. As you can see,I am not a person who leaves a lot of reviews, nor share with everyone who my friends are on yelp. I've had a business mailbox here for 20 years. In May of 2022, the business was sold with no announcement to a completely incompetent lying idiot. I paid in full for my mailbox for 1 year in May. The owner QUADRUPLED prices in July & is trying to charge me retroactively which is of course illegal. I have a receipt which states that I paid for 1 year of service and I've had to have the same conversation with her more than 5 times. They don't take notes or adequate record keeping and are now violating the law by withholding my mail. The one thing you need in a mail receiver service is trust and reliability. This place no longer provides either of those things and is operating in an illegal, incompetent and unscrupulous manner. STAY AWAY!!! The new pricing is also outrageous and you can get comparable reliable service around the corner for a reasonable price that is more in line with what the prior owner was charging. The positive reviews here are for the prior owner/operator. This review and the other negative review that is stating a similar experience are for the current owner. STAY AWAY STAY AWAY STAY AWAY!!! DO NOT DO A BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. I had a box with this place for 20+ years, I've been paying for my box annually always on or before Feb 26 and had no issues with the previous owner until recently. I had to be out of town at the time of renewal, I talked with the new owner and explained my situation, she offered me an extended free month and discounted rate to renew my box. Once I came back from the trip, everything turned up upside down. The owner disowned what she told me, she started changing her mind right and left without communication, she closed my box (I don't know where are my mails), nobody knows what rules she puts on the boxes, no written notices or any type of communication going around, I even had written and signed notice from her that she disowned it too. Nobody knows if this place is an office, real estate, mailbox or to catch a millionaire by blackmailing them and holding their mails. The rate already hit the roof for a small box annual rate is $459, medium $540 and large box $600, while other rates are between $200-$260 annually including 1/2 months free service. Next door a block away mailbox on Magnolia is charging much less than this place. Now I've been waiting for important documents, and I don't know if she is holding them like she did to other customers. I already complained to USPS regarding holding mails and closing boxes without any previous notices. I already reported this company to Better Business Bureau too. Today 3/13/2023. per the postal office supervisor, I had to go back to this place to pick up my mails that they are holding it, because for a month approximately I'm not receiving any mails from senders, once I got there, the assistant ends up calling the police depart. to come and arrest me because I'm supposedly trespassing, while I'm asking her for my mails and her name to report about them to the police dept. After the police came over and we discussed everything about me trying to communicate with the place and the postal office, the police said that they are not going to do anything and for me to continue to take care of this issue as soon as possible with the postal office. PLEASE, BE CAREFUL FROM THIS PLACE, if they don't like you, they might call the call the police on you to be arrested. DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE DOING A BUSINESS WITH HER. PLEASE BE CAREFUL. read more

After 13 years, one is forced to change when a new owner takes charge who triples the price of a small box from 80.00 for 6 months to 135.00 for 3 months, and is combative, argumentative, unprofessional, disorganized and intentionally holds mail behind the counter instead of placing the mail into your box due to their lack and incorrect record keeping. I ve been a client for many years. The new owner seems to be cleaning up after the old owners left. I've seen a man so mad because he hadn't paid in months pee on the floor there. I've seen people not want to pay for their mailbox, and demanding for free months or big discounts. The new owner is not going to have people that are trying to commit fraud. If you're not happy about the cost move on. I am amazed by the amount of rude people always trying to attack the new owner. Talk about people acting entitled, thinking they deserve free boxes or not have to pay their bill. The new owner is just trying to run a nice, clean, and honest business. We were box renters at this business for 21 years, and had no complaints. Then in April 2021 it had a change of ownership, and shortly thereafter, another change of ownership. Since that time its service has been abominable. We travel frequently, and in the past they'd always forward mail to us on the road (we'd deposit funds in advance for this). When we began doing international volunteer work in 2021, we left instructions to forward mail to our son once a month. But they never did this. It would take repeated prodding from our son to get our mail. And it became impossible to reach them by phone -- he'd always get a recording saying their mail box was full. Finally, we had a friend go see them in person, and put them in touch with us directly. Whereupon they sent us a bill saying that our box rent had increased more than THREE HUNDRED PERCENT. And they held our mail for ransom in an effort to force us to pay it, We decided to discontinue service, and sent them payment to cover the few months we were in arrears (at the old rate) plus an extra 20 dollars, and told them to send the rest of the mail to our son and that would be that. Instead, they pocketed the money and returned the mail to senders. Bottom line: a once-reputable business that has gone drastically downhill. read more

Have been a customer here for a decade and a half. Never a problem or concern until the new owner. As you have already read jacking prices three to four hundred percent higher, is well above comparable mail box rentals. Closed my box, changed the lock, sending mail back return to sender, claiming they have no record of my payment, I have shown the owner the receipts and invoices, she says " how do I know those are real" and somehow has none of paperwork for my rental. You can decide how that happened. Good thing I have the paperwork. Also claimed she closed the box because previous owners told her, I guess quite specifically out of the hundreds of boxes they rent that "I was not a nice person" so that's why she closed my box. I'm not kidding. Seems like the owner might be a little unstable. Went to local Post Office to file a complaint and before I mentioned the address they already knew the business' address. I suspect the owner is losing most her long term costumers and could very well get shut down for business practices if not bankruptcy. Steer Clear. read more

When you are ready to close out your mailbox, if you call to ask how to do it fairly and legally, they will get very snippy and call you a liar, then demand labels to forward your mail, which they will forward to you three weeks after it arrives. If you have two people on the mailbox, they will take sides and lock you out of the mailbox if the other person asks them to. read more

Great place to mail packages, but more importantly it's a SECURE PLACE TO RECEIVE packages they're always there when I go get my mail and my package is always dry and in tact. I can call and see if its there before I go to pick it up... there's parking in the back, or if you are doing business at Rite Aid or Portos just walk down the street it's a nice little walk down the block. They are also next to a really great Thai restaurant. They will pack your package with stuffing and a box and if you need stamps or copies or a notary, just about anything it's all done there! read more
