A Completely New Experience -- in the Best Way…read more I've been coming to Sandra's Cantina since we moved to Spring Branch over six years ago. To be honest, it was always fine -- convenient, familiar, and one of the few local options, but never the kind of place that left a lasting impression. The food quality hovered around "just okay," the service could be hit-or-miss, and the cleanliness... well, let's just say it wasn't the reason you went. It was the kind of spot you visited when you didn't have many alternatives. Because of all that, I hadn't been back in over a year -- until this weekend. I was craving Mexican breakfast and a quiet date with my husband, so we decided to give it another chance. And let me tell you: Sandra's Cantina is not the restaurant I remember. From the moment we walked in, it was clear something has shifted -- whether it's new management or a total internal refresh, the change is undeniable. The space was spotless, warm, and genuinely inviting. Then we opened the menu and... WOW. A completely new lineup with thoughtful upgrades and elevated options that made me do a double take. But the real surprise came when the food hit the table. The quality was on an entirely new level. Even the eggs -- those gorgeous, deep golden, almost-orange yolks -- signaled fresh, high-quality ingredients. Nothing tasted mass-produced or low-effort the way it sometimes had in the past. Every bite felt intentional. Bright. Flavorful. Comforting but refined. It was the kind of meal you remember later in the day and think, I want to go back. Service was attentive, warm, and genuinely kind -- another huge improvement. I truly can't say enough good things. If you've written this place off in the past (like I did), give it another try. Something major has changed, and whatever they're doing now... they need to keep it up. Spring Branch finally has a Mexican breakfast spot worth getting excited about again.

Recently, I've watched the female bartender make my drink and noticed she pours only about 1/4 of a shot instead of the full shot these margaritas are supposed to contain. I politely pointed this out. Instead of fixing the drink, she pretended not to understand English - even though I've personally heard her speaking fluent English. When I pressed the issue, she still refused to correct the drinks. You're paying high-end prices for a weak, dishonest pour. If you're paying for quality, don't expect to get what you ordered here.

I had the Tostadas Supa Mixta and my friend had the fish tacos. My Tostada Supa Mixta tasted great. I had all kinds of different seafood on it. It was very refreshing. It was a very good meal. The servers and the order takers were very pleasant, professional, and knowledgeable about the menu. I do recommend this place. We will be returning.

It came with a salad with avocado slices which was fine. My friend ordered 2 little street tacos and a side of rice and beans. It's a order counter type of establishment where you place your order and they bring your meals on a paper plate. It was challenging because I had to ask for a knife and extra fork so I could cut up my fish and place the bones and pieces on 2 other paper plates because the fish was so huge and deboning wasn't easy. Utensils aren't set out so you have to ask for it at the order counter. It wasn't exactly easy to eat but the fish was tasty, dirty rice(?) was tender and so was the salad. I couldn't finish everything so I asked the waitress for a container. The styrofoam container held my leftover fish, rice & salad but I had to split my fish in order to fit. I should've asked for a piece of foil. The tap water from the soft drink dispenser was kinda chemical tasting so I hardly drank it. Inexpensive prices & festive atmosphere. Was pretty busy for a Thursday during lunch.

When we were checking out different suppliers for catering drinks at her wedding, we found out several things. Those included limited selection of companies in the area, prices ranging from low to exorbitant, and much difference in how those different companies interacted with us and our questions. Bourbon and Branch was the hands down winner. They were not the cheapest, but they were very willing to work with us. On the day of the wedding, they came early for set up. They interacted with all of the wedding party and gave everyone a "warm fuzzy feeling" which put the moms at ease. The actual bartender was a hit. She was funny, efficient, friendly, and kept the drinks flowing smoothly. Will I return? I don't have any more kids to marry off but based on my experience with them, I will definitely try their bar. If you have a wedding planned and are in need of bartender services, I recommend you give this business an opportunity for your most important date.

This place has become an absolute joke of a restaurant. We used to come here quite often, now we…read moreonly order tacos on Sunday because the other good Mexican restaurants are closed. I'm not sure if they're just this ignorant or they just don't give a f$&k. First, whoever works Sundays, the shorter older lady with glasses, leaves the phone off the hook in her pocket for 10 minutes at a time so if you're trying to order ahead good luck. It's not because they're that busy. You're going to get a busy tone for 10-15 minutes straight until she realizes. Today it was 17 minutes. THIS IS A REGULAR OCCURRENCE for at least two years now. We ordered 8 tacos and not a single taco was made correctly. Even after Laura repeated the order correctly on the phone somehow that did not translate to the computer. This is a family owned restaurant run by people who don't actually want to run a restaurant. My only hope is this place goes under completely so another descent restaurant can take its place but it's unlikely since the entire family lives in the backyard. Avoid this "restaurant" at all costs or risk wasting 50.00 for a bag of hot garbage food. We're having to make our own eggs to add to our tacos because some idiot wrapped 5 tacos with bacon only. Who tf orders 5 bacon only tacos? That's it, bacon and tortilla. Absolutely ridiculous.
